To animefunlover23-bree: I'm glad you liked the change. Though it was not a deliberate difference, I did find writing the last chapter and this chapter to be easier, and flow better than the previous ones.
~Chapter Ten~
"Quietly now, it's a four day journey to the other side. Let us hope that our presence may go unnoticed."
Boromir looked down at Rosa, now that he was able to see her, he quickly looked away, his cheeks flushing lightly. Confused Rosa looked down at herself, she was dripping wet and her clothes were slick against her skin, you could see all the edges of her bra and even her bellybutton through the shirt. Blushing profusely, Rosa pulled her damp cloak over her body. With Boromir's back turned towards her, Rosa lifted her clothes and inspected the wound. The bandages were soaked and she definitely needed some disinfectant after being in that water. She covered herself up again before speaking, "Boromir?"
"Yes?"
He did not turn around.
"Can you bring me my bag?"
Boromir nodded, left and then returned just as quickly with her bag. After saying her thanks, she dug through until she found a small disinfectant wipe. She lifted the edge of her shirt just high enough for the wound to come in to view, most of the stiches had, thankfully, stayed in but two had come undone. She quickly replaced them and wiped over them and the surrounding area with the wipe. The other claw marks had already scabbed over and were healing nicely, Rosa sighed to herself.
"Help me up, will you?"
Hesitantly, Boromir leaned over letting Rosa put her arm around his shoulder, while he slowly lifted her off the ground. It was in this moment that Boromir really realized how small she was compared to him, she was taller than the average woman but was still rendered short by his height. Her curvy body fit into his large muscular build nicely and he resisted the urge to pull her against him. Once she was standing he started to let her go, but as soon as he stopped supporting her, Boromir noticed her sway and he immediately let her lean against him again. Rosa looked down at her ankle and nearly swore, it was swollen and was at least sprung, if not broken.
"It's fine, let me go."
"You'll fall."
"I can lean against the wall for now, I need to change out of these wet clothes and I can't do that with you here, unless you're volunteering to help me" She said in a playful tone, raising her eyebrow at him. Boromir shut his mouth, which had been open ready to challenge what she said, and turned his back away from her. Rosa laughed at his embarrassment. She then slowly shuffled against the wall until she was nicely hidden behind one of the rocks which had collapsed over the entrance. It took much longer than Rosa had expected but when she was finally finished she had changed into one of the nicer outfits that Vala had given her, she didn't want to wear it before because she didn't think it was quite as practical and was definitely more of a 'fighting outfit' but seeing as how she no longer had a choice she began putting it on. There was a corset that was to be wore with it but Rosa had opted to throw it back in the bag, she wasn't about to submit herself to that willingly, especially with a wound on her side. Rosa sighed and made her way back out to the rest of the fellowship.
When Boromir's eyes fell upon her he nearly gasped aloud. She was wearing a outfit that had been made especially for her, with the purpose of being appropriate for a woman to wear, while still having the practicality of movement in battle. She wore skin tight pants that tucked into her boots. The skirt had two long slits up the front so she could move about smoothly during a fight. A belt wrapped around her waist, accentuating her curves, while holding sheaths for the daggers that Boromir had brought for her, along with a few other smaller knives. The top of it laced up covering a generous about of her chest, it then branched out into long sleeves and a hood, allowing sight of the necklace that had been given to her by Elrond. If Rosa took small enough steps no one would be able to tell that she was not actually wearing a dress. Boromir swallowed the lump in his throat and stepped forward, helping to take the weight off of Rosa's injured ankle.
The fellowship continued walking through the great caverns, over narrow bridges, which caused Boromir to have to pull Rosa closer against him so they could both fit across the bridge. Scattered about were abandoned ladders and chains that told a story of what once went on in these mines. Gandalf lead the way and Aragorn settled in the back, behind the slow moving Rosa and Boromir. As they continued walking Aragorn watched the two, and their growing friendship, closely. He had seen nothing that was improper but still watched over them, he had come to care about Rosa and was certain that he wouldn't let anything...untoward happen to her.
Gandalf stopped, noticing the silvery white veins in the rockface and gently touched them, "The weath of Moria is not in gold or jewels, but Mithril," he shined his staff into the cavern below and they looked down in awe at the abandoned mines, "Bilbo had a shirt of mithril rings that Thorin gave him."
"Ah, that was a Kingly gift," Gimli chimed.
"Yes. I never told him, but its worth was greater than the value of The Shire!"
They reached a large staircase, its steps very steep. Boromir began to let go of Rosa, "What are you doing?"
"There's now way we can fit side by side on those steps."
Rosa looked extremely worried. He stepped in front of her, "Climb on my back."
"You want me to WHAT?"
Legolas watched warily from the side, he didn't think he completely trusted Boromir.
"I'll carry you."
Rosa began shaking her head, "No, no, no, no, I am NOT letting you give me a piggyback ride."
"A piggyback what? Nevermind that, just get on. We do not have time to dally."
"No."
Boromir groaned at her, "WHY must you be SO difficult?" he asked kneeling down.
Rosa sighed and said a mental goodbye to her lingering dignity. She slowly put her hands on his shoulders and lifted one leg to his side, she felt his hand hold on to it securely and she lifted her other leg and he stood. Rosa wanted to curl up in a ball and never speak to Boromir again, she leaned against his back and let her arms dangle in front of his chest, with her chin resting on his shoulder, Rosa decided that if she must be this uncomfortable then she wouldn't make it comfortable for him either.
Boromir wanted to put her down instantly, with her this close he couldn't help but notice everything about her, her body pressed against his back, her legs wrapped around him, the smell her hair, he smiled, she smells of wild flowers.
Ahead of them Pippin slipped on a step, causing Merry to call out to him. After that Rosa was thankful towards Boromir, if Pippin hadn't managed to keep his balance there was no way she would with a sprained ankle. Once they reached the top he began to let go and she slid down his back and onto the floor. Rosa was thankful to be on her own to feet again but felt slightly colder without Boromir's warmth right there. Their journey paused when they reached a junction with three doorways.
"I've no memory of this place." Gandalf sat and pulled out his pipe, hoping to calm his nerves and remember the way to go. For a while they sat in silence.
"Are we lost?" Pippin asked, breaking the silence.
"No." Merry answered.
"I think we are."
"Ssh! Gandalf's thinking" Sam said, annoyed at Pippin.
"Merry!"
"What!"
"I'm hungry"
Rosa giggled, he's always hungry...
Rosa managed to limp her way off to the side and sat with her feet hanging over the edge. She stared out into the distance, everything was happening so quickly, she didn't want to lose Gandalf, he was the only one that she knew she could tell the truth to but she knew that it was for the greater good. Rosa heard someone sit beside her but she didn't bother to look over. She felt an arm wrap reassuringly around her shoulder and she leaned into it.
"Oh! Its that way"
Rosa sat for awhile longer before she heard someone cough behind her. She finally looked up to see Gandalf smiling down at her, it was a sad smile though, as if he already knew and felt sorry for her.
"He's remembered," Merry says jumping up.
At the entrance to one doorway Gandalf paused and turned back, "No, but the air doesn't smell so foul down here. If in doubt, Meriadoc, always follow your nose."
They all went to follow Gandalf out, but before Boromir could reach Rosa's side Legolas swooped in and helped Rosa along, though startled by it Rosa knew she was in no position to complain and was grateful for the help. They came out of the passageway into a great cavern with many columns arising from floor to ceiling.
Rosa let out an impressed whistle and immediately regretted it as it bounced off the walls echoing further and further down the cavern. Rosa cringed squeezing her eyes shut and leaning into Legolas' shoulder. She looked up to see Legolas staring down at her. She pulled away from him, "Sorry," she whispered.
Legolas, however, had not been staring at her, but at the necklace around her neck. It was of elven origin, along with the book that he knew she carried with her, he was becoming overwhelmingly curious about her and why she had these things. Most humans shied away from the elves and all things related to him, yet she seemed to have an abundance of elven things, from her clothing to the things she carried with her. Legolas turned away from her when he heard Gandalf speak.
"Let me risk a little more light," Gandalf held up his staff and shined it's light on the cavern, "Behold the great realm and dwarf city of Dwarrowdelf."
The light revealed a huge cavern, filled with ornate columns stretching as far as the eye could see.
"There's an eye-opener and no mistake," Sam said, in awe. They walked through the center of the magnificient city and felt a great deal better about being in a space that was not so cramped.
Rosa paced back and forth, she couldn't sleep, though she knew she should, as the day went on her mind had grown weary with concern and confusion. She didn't know what to do. Should I tell him? She had been waging a war of her own inside her mind, should she tell Gandalf what was to come or...
Or what? the litte voice asked, Let him die?
Rosa groaned, NO!...yes? If he doesn't defeat that...fiery thing, then he won't come back as Gandalf the white!
She continued pacing, her argument with herself bringing no avail. Rosa yelped as she felt a hand clamp down on her shoulder. She turned to see Aragorn, for a moment, when she looked in his eyes, she could see his concern matching her own. She began to relax, but didn't take her eyes from him.
"What troubles you?" he asked softly.
Rosa turned away, "I...I don't...Gandalf..he...," she looked up at Aragorn again, his eyes glittering with compassion. She could feel her eyes brim with tears and stepped forward and hugged Aragorn. Her head only came up to his chest, just like with Boromir, she was so small compared to them, it was something that she found surprisingly comforting. Slowly, his arms wrapped around her and she silently let the tears fall down her cheeks.
"Gandalf won't make it," was all she said and as soon as the words escaped her lips she felt Aragorn squeeze her tight against him and let out a shuttering breath.
"I know," was his reply.
For a while they stood like that, neither one making a move to leave the other's arms, neither one saying a word. It was Aragorn who finally pulled away, Rosa quickly wiped her cheeks and looked up at him.
"but how do you know that?" Aragorn asked. He watched as a mirage of emotions passed over her features.
"I," Rosa was ready to tell him, ready to tell anyone everything but as the words were about to pour forth from her lips she remembered her conversations with Gandalf. He had been the one she confided in and in turn he told helped her to make sense of what had happened to her.
Rosa sat on the rock, flipping through the pages of the book. She felt as though she had memorized every picture, every foreign word on the pages. She looked up as Gandalf sat beside her.
"You wish to know what it says."
Rosa nodded.
"That will take time, patience."
"I know," she sighed.
Gandalf held his hands out gesturing towards the book, which Rosa handed over to him. He smiled a little.
"Prophecies are a tricky things," he said shaking his head, "you could study them for thousands of years and still not know their meaning."
"I'm not looking for their meaning."
Gandalf raised an eyebrow at her.
"I just want to know what this book has to do with me," she explained, "I've been here for months now and still I have no idea how I got here, or why...Its frustrating."
Gandalf nodded, the way he did. "Patience," he said before taking out his pipe.
Rosa groaned, she wanted to smack her head on a rock, "I can be patient, but this is ridiculous. I read some words and suddenly I'm in a different world. A world I didn't think could even exist! Then you people throw a bunch of information at me and I start having weird ass dreams. Now I'm walking cross country, I haven't seen a shower in forever, thank goodness I don't have a mirror. I'd just like to understand a few things but NO ONE seems to have any answers for me!" she said in a huff.
Rosa laughed at herself, in retrospect she realized she probably sounded like a raving lunatic.
"What words?"
"Huh?"
"What words did you read?"
Rosa reached into her bag, searching for the small note that had changed so much. Once found she grabbed it and lifted it from the bag.
"I don't know what it means, I think it's elven but I'm not certain, I can read it to you."
Gandalf quickly shook his head, "No, that would be unwise. The words of other languages have stronger meaning, they hold power, unlike the common tongue. It is probably saying the words aloud that brought you here to begin with, who knows what would happen if you said them again."
He reached for the note and read the words to himself.
Rusva tel' ista, rina.
Rosa leaned over his shoulder, "So, what does it mean?"
"Break the spell, remember."
Rosa was startled out of her thoughts by the sound of Aragorn's voice.
"I can't explain to you exactly how I know but I do, I know things that I shouldn't. You remember that I told you I wasn't from this world?"
"Yes," Aragorn responded, his interest peeked.
"Well that's how I know."
Aragorn nodded, expecting her to go on but soon realized that she wasn't going to continue.
Rosa rolled over, another night that she couldn't sleep. She was beginning to wonder how she even managed to stay awake during the day. Gandalf walked over to her, "You are half elf."
"What?" she asked, confused.
"You do not need as much sleep as others do, elves can get by on very little sleep."
Rosa stared at him, how does he always know what everyone is thinking?
"Your body seems to be slowly adjusting to the changes from your elf half. Things that you should have been capable of since infancy," Gandalf chuckled lightly, "Though I suppose to an Elf you still are a child."
Rosa pulled out the necklace that Elrond had given her, "I thought this was supposed to keep anything like that from happening."
Gandalf looked at the necklace carefully, "And who told you this?"
"Lord Elrond."
"Ah," he said, thinking for a moment, "The necklace's purpose is to amplify any powers you may have. It is not uncommon for elves to have powers such as foresight. Lord Elrond wishes to see if you poses any such powers, this being the only way he could since he knows not your lineage."
"My lineage?" Rosa said nearly laughing, until she realized he was serious. I guess this is medieval times, who your family is really does matter...
She coughed lightly, "Well I am just as in the dark about that as he is," she said with a sigh.
By the fourth day Rosa was able to walk on her own without pain, her side was on the mend and her ankle had healed. She was a bit surprised at the rate of her healing but assumed that she had just overestimated the severity of the injuries. Then, remembering what Gandalf had told her the night before, she realized it was just because elves heal faster.
"I spy with my little eye something..." Rosa stared off into the distance and swore she could see further than before, "green," she said distractedly.
Damn...He's right..
Boromir sighed, "There is definitely nothing green in here."
Rosa smiled to herself, "Your eyes are right now."
Boromir looked utterly surprised and then slightly embarrassed, he quickly cleared his throat, "Well that makes it...Gimli's turn," he said turning towards Gimli.
"Oh!" Suddenly Gimli spotted a room in front of them and ran towards it.
"Gimli!" Gandalf called after him. Quickly, they chased after him. When Rosa saw the room, her heart broke for him. He was there, kneeling before a stone tomb that lay in the center of the room.
"No, no," Gimli bowed his head, Rosa could hear the sorrow in his voice, a sound that was heart-achingly familiar, "no."
Gandalf read the inscription on the tomb, "Here lies Balin, son of Fundin, Lord of Moria. He is dead then," Gandalf removed his hat, "It is as I feared."
Rosa stood frozen in place.
She stood before the grave, it was her turn to place a rose but she couldn't move. She felt as though her heart was being physically ripped out the closer she got to him. When she finally reached the casket she took one shuddering breath, caressing his face with her hand.
"Oh, Ace... Johnathan," Rosa choked up, "I love you."
A tear streamed down her cheek. She placed the rose and took a step back but lost her composure. Rosa crashed to her knees, letting the tears flow.
Stevens, Mills and Booker stepped forward, helping her up and taking her back to her seat. She silently thanked them and let them hug her.
As they drove her home, Rosa watched the cemetery grow farther and farther from them and Rosa told herself she would never love again.
Gandalf noticed a skeleton next to the tomb holding a large book, as he passed his hat and staff to Pippin, he picked the book up, pages falling out. Gandalf blew off the dust, opening it up to read the pages within. Legolas leaned in to Aragorn, "We must move on, we cannot linger."
"They have taken the Bridge and the second hall. We have barred the gates, but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes. Drums," Pippin walked backwards looking around him, "Drums in the deep. We cannot get out."
Everyone looked around nervously, seeing the corpses laying about, knowing they died in this room and the fellowship could follow.
"A shadow moves in the dark. We cannot get out. They are coming."
Pippin took another step back, bumping into Rosa. Startled from her memories she jumps back, knocking a rock down the well behind her, nearly falling in herself. Boromir stepped forward catching her hand in his and pulling her towards him. He looked into her eyes to see them raw with emotion: heartbreak, sadness, love. Boromir looked away, suddenly feeling as though he had been caught reading a private journal of her thoughts.
Gandalf shut the book, taking his hat and staff from Pippin, displeasure splayed across his face. Everyone was silently relieved when nothing followed.
Just as Gandalf turned around a drum could be heard, it grew faster and louder. Rosa's relief was instantly replaced with regret. Sam looked down to see Frodo's sword glowing blue, "Frodo!"
"Orcs," Legolas said after a loud screech was heard. Boromir ran to the door, arrows flying past his head, narrowly missing and landing with loud thunks into the door.
"Stay back," Aragorn said to the hobbits, "and stay close to Gandalf!"
Boromir looked out again surveying the enemy, he pulled back shutting the doors quickly, "They have a cave troll!" he said exasperated. Rosa would have found it amusing, were her heart not pounding with anticipation. The only battle she had been in since she got here was with wolves and her injury proved that she was not even ready for that. She took a deep breath and prepared herself and Aragorn and Boromir barred the door with whatever they could find, Legolas helping them along.
As Gandalf and the hobbits drew their swords, Gimli leapt upon Balin's tomb, "Agh! Let them come There's one dwarf yet in Moria who still draws breath."
Aragorn and Legolas drew their bows, Rosa contemplated joining them, but her last time practicing using the bow hadn't gone so well. Boromir stood with his sword at the ready, Rosa moved to stand at Boromir's right. He glanced back at her and took a step forward moving his stance to guard in front of her. As the door was battered down, Legolas fired an arrow through a hole in it. Rosa cringed from the sound of the screeching creature. Aragorn arrow followed, Rosa watched it whistle through the air and into another orc's head.
The door was broken down moments later, orcs pouring fourth like water through an open flood gate. Rosa gripped her daggers nervously and grounded her feet to the floor. She watched as an orc charged at her, she took a deep breath and stepped forward to attack, when Boromir stepped to the side, swinging his blade around, stepping back, then lunging his sword forward into the gut of another orc. Rosa watched in awe, it was as though he were going through the steps of a dance. Soon there were so many orcs that Boromir couldn't keep them from Rosa, he made sure to keep sight of her while they fought. Rosa stepped forward stabbing into orcs with her daggers, at first it was easy with their attention drawn towards the more seasoned warriors, but eventually they charged at her just as much. Rosa remembered her training and fought like she never had before, it didn't take long for her to find their weaknesses, they were clumsy and not still but their sheer numbers alone would be enough to overwhelm even the greatest warriors.
Rosa heard Boromir yell her name, "Rosa!"
She was startled it was the first time he had said her name, she stared for a second then spun around to see an orc charging. Without thinking she dropped to the floor and kicked its legs out from under it. It fell forward, skidding towards Boromir who deftly swung his blade, removing the orc's head from its body. Rosa was suddenly grateful that the sight of blood didn't sicken her but still wish there was less covering her.
Sam suddenly paused his fighting. Aragorn noticed, looking over to the door as the cave troll entered. Rosa stared up at it watching it enter. From it's neck a broken chain hung, it stomped in bashing the walls with his fists, letting loose a roar that reverberated in Rosa's newly sensitive ears. Legolas fired an arrow into its chest, but its attention was already turned towards Sam and it rose it's club above his head to strike him.
Sam dove through its legs, confusing it. As it turned to follow, Aragorn and Boromir latched onto the chain around its neck
"Pull!"
The troll stumbled backwards and swung around to face them. Boromir was still holding the chain when the troll took ahold of it, using it to fling him across the room and against a wall. An orc advanced on the dazed Boromir and Rosa threw one of her knives, sending it flying through the air and stabbing into the neck of the orc. Boromir looked up to see Rosa, giving her a proud and grateful half smile. Rosa ignored the thump of her heart and nodded, giving a small smile in return.
The troll smashed its club into the tomb, causing Gimli to fall to the ground. Frodo, Merry and Pippin hid behind a pillar, from the troll's uncoordinated swings, it fought with brute strength, swinging at anything that moved. That made it easier to keep out of its way, but it was still proving difficult to bring the beast down. The troll continued swiping with its club, sending orcs flying. Legolas stood in front of it, two arrows loaded in his bow and fired, sending the troll stumbling, while Rosa fought to keep the orcs from getting too close to Legolas.
Gandalf fought orcs with his sword and staff, startling Rosa, he looked so old and fragile but Rosa could see behind his unintimidating demeanor there was a strength. Legolas, from on top a platform, fought off orcs with his usual grace and fluidity. The troll headed for him, swinging the chain at him. Legolas ducked and weaved to avoid it, causing the chain to wrap itself around a pillar. Legolas then leapt onto the chain, nimbly running up it to the trolls head. He stood upon it's shoulders and fired an arrow into its head. The troll screamed and reached for Legolas who quickly jumped down as though the distance were a mere step. The chain snapped, leaving just the collar.
Meanwhile Sam fought the orcs, hitting them on the head with his frying pan, "Think I'm getting the hang of this."
It wasn't long before the troll found Merry, Pippin and Frodo, they stared at it in horror. Merry and Pippin ran to one side, as the troll smashes his club down, while Frodo ran to the other.
Aragorn shouted to Frodo amidst the fight, "Frodo!"
Frodo hid behind a pillar, he tried to calm his breathing. The troll sniffed for Frodo's scent, while Aragorn fought his way through the horde of orcs, over to Frodo.
Suddenly the troll's face appeared in front of Frodo, roaring. Frodo stumbled back into a corner, both startled and scared by it but also a little disgusted from the smell. The troll reached out and grabbed him by the foot, dragging him along.
"Aragorn!," he grabbed ahold of a pillar as he was dragged away, "Aragorn!"
"Frodo!"
The troll pulled Frodo off the ledge and he dropped to the floor. Aragorn jumped down in front of the troll as it lifted it's club to strike. He drove a stake into the troll making it scream, while Pippin and Merry threw rocks at its head. The troll took a swipe at Aragorn, flinging him across the room where he fell, knocked unconscious. Frodo hurried over to him. Rosa watched in horror but couldn't reach them, Boromir and she had become surrounded by lingering orcs and her main concerns were to not die and not back into Boromir.
Rosa turned in time to see that the troll was behind Frodo, pulling the stake from his chest and lunging at him. Frodo moved quickly and the stake clanked against the wall instead. He dodged as the troll lunged for him again. Frodo tried to run away, but the troll blocked his path. Frodo fell back against a wall, as the troll plunged it's stake into Frodo's chest. Rosa leapt back a sword swinging down in front of her face, she made a mental note to not get distracted by what others were doing during battle. She stabbed one dagger into its side and while it looked down she plunged the other into it's head. As she pulled the blades out they were covered with the blackened blood, gross.
Gandalf turned around in time to see Frodo collapse against the wall. Merry and Pippin looked on in horror as Frodo gasped for breath, the troll snorting at the display. Merry and Pippin looked at each other and ran towards the troll, swords at the ready. Yelling as they jumped onto its back and attacked it with everything they had. Gandalf watched, smiling slightly at their loyalty towards their friend. Sam suddenly noticed, worry for his friend exploded through him, giving fuel to his fighting.
"Frodo!"
Frodo gasped again.
"Frodo!" Sam called out again.
Sam fought his way over to Frodo, as did Gandalf and Boromir, all of them trying their hardest to get there in time. Frodo collapsed to the ground, causing the fellowship to fight harder. Merry and Pippin continued to stab the troll, still hanging bravely on it's back. It reached up and grabbing at Merry, dangling him by his legs and threw him to the ground as Gimli faced the troll, attacking it with his axe. The troll swiped him to the ground. Rosa watched in horror as it seemed nothing they did would bring it down.
Legolas stood in front of the troll and drew an arrow and firing it directly into it's mouth, then another into its head. The troll groaned and stumbled forwards then back. They watched as it stumbled and fell to the ground, flinging Merry, who was still on it's back, to the floor. Gandalf hurried over to Frodo, while Aragorn crawled up next to Frodo, Sam watching on.
"Oh no!"
Aragorn turned Frodo over, he gasped and coughed, sitting up. Sam rushed over in disbelief to find Frodo holding his chest in pain.
Sam breathed a sigh of relief, "He's alive!"
"I'm all right. I'm not hurt."
"You should be dead," Aragorn said in amazement.
"Mithril," Rosa said, walking sorely over to the rest of them. Frodo unbuttoned his shirt to reveal the mithril vest that Bilbo had given him.
"We should probably leave now," she said gesturing towards the door with a thumb. Almost as if to validate her statement, they could hear the screeches of more orcs and shadows approaching. Nodding in agreement the fellowship ran from the room, "To the bridge of Khazad-dûm!" Gandalf yelled, leading the way.
Rosa suddenly understood why all the running during her training. Her head hurt from the sounds of the screeching creatures, she then made the mistake of looking behind. Thousands of orcs swarmed behind them, climbing down from the pillars, exploding through cracks in the walls, it was like an infestation of bugs, Rosa shuddered in disgust. It wasn't long before the sheer numbers had surrounded them. Rosa could see every disgusting detail of their faces, their disfigured features, their greyish-brown skin that was covered in blood, both dried and wet. With their mouths gapping open she could see their carnivorous teeth, sharp and yellowed, she wanted to throw up.
As they closed in Rosa felt herself bump shoulders with Aragorn, without thinking she grabbed his free hand and squeezed, she was more scared than she had ever been before and not just for her own safety. She felt him squeeze back and calmed slightly, but the feeling dissipated when she heard the Balrog's roar. It shook throughout the caverns, striking fear in the orcs. Rosa watched in horror as the archway began to glow red, she knew what was coming and didn't think she would ever be prepared for this moment.
