"Did you really have to destroy his cart", Saige yanked her friend away from the crying man.
"Yes", Faeryn laughed, even Ellen's lips formed a slight smile.
"And get rid of the ghost Faeryn", she whispered. "She's evil".
"Its fine mom", Faeryn brushed her off. She swiped an apple off some distracted vender's cart. Saige took it out of her hands and quickly put it back into place. "Stop worrying, we are in a different world. Enjoy it".
"That doesn't mean you can disobey the rules", the blond muttered. She followed a few feet behind the ghost and duck and tried not to meet the curious stares of the world's citizens.
"Saige", a voice sang. She came to a halt and glanced around. Faeryn had already disappeared in the crowd. So much for sticking together.
All other sounds dimmed into a buzz. The people around her moved slower. On the other side of the crowd stood a familiar tall girl in purple.
"Melody", she called pushing through the bodies. Her friend smiled before turning around. Everything sped up and a cart obscured her vision. When it passed Melody was gone.
Saige sprinted forward down the brick alleyway. Besides a few wandering people she was practically alone. Melody kept going; all ways just within sight.
Wait, Melody would not run from her. Especially after the incident of Dangan Ronpa. They would fling into each other's arms and cry.
"Nice try", she whispered turning around. She shrieked coming face to face with her "moi laska".
"Where are you going Saige", she asked. Darkness inched its way up her body. It snaked along the ground towards the other girl. Saige jumped back before it could touch her ankles .A Nobody replaced Melody and more slinked out of small alley ways until Saige was surrounded.
The blonde held the knife up to block her face as the nobodies striked. She fell to the ground and the nobodies grabbed her by the legs.
"No", she shouted as they dragged her to a portal. She sliced them with her knife and stumbled up. Her ankle shot with pain as she ran away. Eventually a brick wall blocked the girls' path. But the street was filled with commoners and guards, the organization would not attack until she was alone.
Saige was wrong.
She looked up and saw a cloaked figure above her. The figure jumped down and faced her. They pulled back their hood to reveal a man with fabulous pink hair. His face showed no emotion as he stepped closer to the girl.
"Stay back", she pointed her weapon at him.
"It is foolish to think after crossing paths with the organization that your heart will remain pure", he summoned a syth and blocked her escape. "Though yours is better dead".
"Then why not end us", Saige's eyes wandered around pleading someone to help. They met with a guard and he jumped as if seeing the villain for the first time.
"Why indeed", Marluxia said. He swung in weapon back and sliced all gathering guards in half. People scrambled away screaming. He chuckled, "the organization is known for not leaving loose ends".
"Then again", he wiped the blade clean with his sleeve. "Most members enjoy pretending to be weak and have a drop of humanity left. They're not fitting to be called nobodies".
What a jerk, Saige thought.
"There he is", someone shouted. More guards came around the corner. They fired pieces of earth at Marluxia but none of them were effective. Marluxia transported behind them. The men were not even given a second to react before their bodies were sliced in two.
The pink man looked back to where the girl was...or had been standing. How annoying. Well he tried and hopefully once he gave a slightly modified report, leader won't make someone of his statues do such low ranked missions.
"Hope you enjoy hell", Faeryn shouted as she was thrown out of a small restaurant. Third one in a row, no one seemed willing to take her American money. Her stomach rumbled with protest. She patted it softly. "Shh child mamas going to feed you soon".
"How do we obtain this money", Ellen asked.
"By finding a job", Faeryn groaned. Something she never wanted to do. Her parents kept bringing home applications only to find pieces of them sticking out of the garbage disposer. That led to a huge fight.
"I could probably borrow some from the cash register", Ellen looked back to the shop.
"No then I'll get the look from Saige", speaking of the flower loving girl she has not said anything for a while. Faeryn looked around befuddled. When did Saige disappear?
Speak of the devil Saige came sprinting through the crowd. She stopped right at Faeryn's side and linked their arms.
"Where have you been", the ducked asked. Her friend just shrugged her shoulders and stared ahead. Faeryn knew better then to press on.
They continued through the streets until Saige tugged on Faeryn's arm. She pointed to a small shop. A help wanted sign covered the doors small window. People lined down the block in fancy garments and went in and out in a steady stream.
"Really Saige", Faeryn groaned. "It's going to take forever to get in".
"I think it will be worth it", she dragged her to the end of line. The other two rolled their eyes. Saige was surprised that Faeryn of all people did not recognize the shop.
It only took an hour for them to reach the entrance. At that point in the day only a few more people joined the back of the line.
They went inside to find a small tea shop. An old bearded man wore a green apron and carried a tea kettle from table to table while a tall young man with a burn over his eye took away cups and plates. His hair was to his ears and his face contained a constant scowl. Classic Zuko
The girls sat at one of the tables and waited. A man at the table next to them moved to leave but ended up bumping his half full cup onto the ground. While Faeryn laughed at his misfortune and began stacking the tiny cup at their tables ontop her head, Saige shot up and began picking up the tiny pieces of glass. Zuko stood over her with an arm full of glasses.
"What are you doing", he asked.
"I'm sorry", she whispered straightening up. "Do you mind if I go back and throw this away".
"Why would I care", he turned away and pointed to the swinging doors leading to the kitchen.
She entered the kitchen and threw the shards away. A wet towel laid on the counter. It was discolored from cleaning up so many tea spills. She took it back to the table and scrubbed the hardwood floor.
The cups on Faeryn's head toppled over. Saige looked up and stared at the girl. The duck shrugged and smiled.
"Are you going to do anything about that", Saige asked.
"Nope", she laughed leaning back in her chair.
"Of course not", Saige sighed cleaning up her friends mess. She could not risk some poor soul stepping on the pieces.
"Miss", a lady tapped her on the shoulder as she passed to go back to the kitchen. "Can I have another cup of oolong?"
Saige glanced at the old man rushing around the very crowded tea house. Reluctantly she agreed and was stopped by at least five other customers on the way. She bumped into the old man coming back out with three tea kettles.
"What do you think you're doing", he asked. Then the old man broke out into a smile and revealed an apron from behind his back. "Without this"!
Meanwhile Faeryn banged her head on the table. Great now they're going to be stuck there forever. Sometimes it sucks have a Canadian as a friend.
Rae ducked into an ally as a group of guards dashed by. She never knew Avatar had so much security. It was best to stick to the back roads for the time being. Kind of hard to act like a citizen when you have bright red hair especially since the common theme is black or bald.
She slinked against the wall with her crowbar ready. Her foot hit something. Out of the corner of her eye she saw something roll away. It stopped and dead eyes stared at her. Rae screamed noticing the decapitated bodies spread around the stone ally. Then she slowly regained her kick butt Russian composer. Luckily no one saw that little outburst. How embarrassing...
"Okay", Rae's voice echoed throughout the empty alley. "Which one of those idiots made this mess? I swear if it's you Ariana, you're going to be joining them". No response. Fools must have sneaked away when they realized Rae was there. The blood looked fresh, which means her friends could not have gotten far.
That's her only explanation for the deaths. No one actually dies in Avatar, only temporarily disabled or turn into moon gods. Saige would have fainted from the sight of blood and Melody only uses icicles on her victims. That leaves Faeryn and Ariana. The biggest morons of them all. Well except maybe Wheatly.
"I am not a moron", Rae screamed. Aw if only she could meet the world's biggest moron.
"There she is", a voice snapped her out of her Portal fantasy. Guards blocked the path ahead.
Rae glanced down at the many bodies then at the bloody crowbar. She realized how bad that must have looked. First a stranger sneaks into the city and then whoops dead bodies. Yep it's actually happening.
Rae dashed back onto the open streets with the earth benders right on her heels. She ducked into a shop as a crowd of people came out and slammed the door.
"Welcome", a soft voice said. Rae spun around and her mouth hit the floor.
Saige was holding a tray and wearing a green apron. She had her head bowed. Behind her Faeryn was failing at pouring tea into tiny cups. A floating girl flew and out of a pair of doors with tea kettles. Then the most shocking thing of all was Demyx, with an apron over his cloak, clearing off tables.
"Gaaaaaaaaaaah", Rae said.
"Oh hey Rae", the blond straightened up and grabbed her friend by the arm. She led the confused Russian to a small table and forced her to sit. A menu and tiny cup of chai tea were already in place. "So we have a special on oolong tea today. Free refills. Isn't that exciting"!
"The fudge", Rae flailed her arms around. It made no logical sense! At least one of them should be covered with blood and evil...organization member... "The fudge".
"Oh we're working here now thanks to Saige", Faeryn lifted her head up. Her arm moved left over a ladies lap. The kettle was still tipped over and the lady jumped up and shrieked. The duck looked her up and down then laughed. "oops looks like someone had an accident"
"You have the maturity of a three year old", the floating girl groaned taking the pot away from her.
"But...but...but", Rae pointed to the ghost and organization member. "Evil"!
"Oh that's Ellen", Saige explained. "Faeryn stabbed her in the chest. And Demyx got kicked out of the organization for helping us and is now part of our gang".
"It's so unfair", Demyx pouted. "Axel blamed everything on me."
"This is Zuko and Irohs shop", Faeryn whispered shrieked. "They left us in charge for the night".
Idiots, Rae thought. She glanced from one idiot to another and sighed. She stood up and held out her hand. "Apron me".
Once the sky turned pitch black Saige lit the small candles in the center of each table. The flames caused the shadows in the green shop to enlarge up the yellow painted walls. The last customer left and Saige flipped over the sign to close. The group all released a sigh. Who would have thought the tea shop was so popular.
The group pushed seats around the center table. Demyx brought out little bowls of ice-cream and cups of Irohs' famous tea with Ellen trailing behind. They took their sets and split the bowls and cups. Faeryn and Rae shoved their tea away with disgust while Saige chugged hers down in one gulp.
"Never done that much work in my life", Faeryn groaned shoving the bowl in her face.
"Never yelled at so many people in my life", Rae went to go get her crowbar from behind a potted fern. Apparently people did not appreciate being waited on by a girl with a crowbar.
"Next time if a man asks you for some sugar do not throw a cup at his head", Saige scolded.
"Larxene threw a bolder at my head once", Demyx strummed his sitar. The Ghost girl watched him intently.
"Dude ouche", Faeryn lifted her head. Ice-cream dripped off her chin. Saige licked her finger then wiped it around the ducks mouth getting her hand slapped as a result. "Stop it mom".
"Then eat like a normal person", the blond demonstrated with her spoon. She pulled it out of her mouth and smiled. "See? No mess"
Faeryn looked down at the messy bowl then picked it up. She threw it at the wall. The ice-cream created a long white stripe down the center. Faeryn flung her arms up and screamed anarchy.
"Behave", the blonde ghost created a bubble of water over the ducks head. It dropped soaking the girl.
"Cool", Demyx shouted. "I control water two".
Just as he was about to demonstrate Saige screamed for him to stop. She stole his sitar and shoved it under the table. "Let's not cause any more damage"
She ran her fingers through her long hair, "here let's do something a little less destructive. Like tell stories. I'll go fi..."
"NO", her two friends screamed. Faeryn cover her mouth.
"I'd rather sleep tonight", Faeryn laughed nervously. "I'll start..."
"Once upon a time there was a crab and a rat living on a small island. They made a deal that each day one of them would hunt for food. But the rat started eating the best parts. So the crab made a boat and took the rat to the middle of the sea. The crab left the rat there and the rat tricked an octopus to bringing the rat back to shore if he showed him his reflection. Sadly the rat got hungry on the way and ate all the octopuses' hair and when they got to shore showed the octopus its reflection in the water. The octopus was so scared of its baldness it now lives in the deepest part of the ocean the end".
Demyx raised his hand, "why did the octopus have hair in the first place".
"Because it could", Faeryn crossed her arms and smirked. "Moral of the story, don't let a rat ride on your head".
"You're an idiot", Rae groaned. "Okay my turn"
"Once upon a time there was a Russian ninja. Her name was Ray..."
"So in other words you", Saige giggled.
"No her name is Ray with a y. completely different. Anyways, she was on a secret mission to assassinate the queen of Australia. And before you ask Saige it is not Ariana so put your hand down. The queen's name was Adriana. So the Russian hero traveled by sea to the island and came upon the poorly guarded mansion. She called upon the power of sunflowers to suffocate the queen. Then the Russians took control of the world the end".
"My story is beeeettter", Faeryn stuck her tongue out. She quickly ducked as a crowbar swung at her head.
"Can Saige go next", she whispered and was instantly shot down. "Please"
"No Saige"
"Please"
"No"
"Please"
"God dammit don't give me the cute face"
"Please"
"Rae I can't say no much longer"
"Ple..."
"SAIGE DRINK SOME FRICKING TEA", Rae shoved her untouched cup to the girl. Saige smiled and picked up the glass. Good, Rae thought, that will keep her busy for a while.
"Oh by the way", Saige lowered the cup. "You need to tell Melody I'm still alive if you see her".
The other two girls stared at her. Finally the red head spoke, "Why...does she think you're dead".
"Well she killed someone in danganronpa and then I was about to be executed but Axel saved me before I could die", she whispered. "I did not tell her the consequences."
"How could you forget something like that", Rae pushed her chair back and slammed her hands on the table.
"I did not think my best friends would actually murder someone", the blonds lip quivered.
"That's not something you just leave out Saige", Rae grabbed her by the wrist and yanked her up. "We could have been searching for the gates instead of playing café worker".
"Rae calm down dude", Faeryn tried to hold her back only to be punched in the arm. "The same thing would have happened if any one of us were with Melody instead".
"NO", Rae flung open the door and shoved Saige forward. Poor Demyx and Ellen were frozen where they sat not sure what to do. "GO! You are not stopping till you find a gate. I don't care if you're in One Piece or freaking Percy Jackson, you are going to keep going without stopping until you find Melody."
"But the Avatar worlds so big", Saige whispered as Rae pushed her forward. The girl walked down the street with a crowbar against her back.
"Ya seriously Rae, we're not going to find the gate easily", Faeryn followed at the back of the group with Demyx and Ellen at her side.
"Do I look like I care?"
Faeryn rolled her eyes and turned her head to Ellen. She motioned to the furious red head. The witch grinned and lifted her hand up. Water from the soil of a hanging plant they passed shot out and drenched Rae. She stopped and covered her face as more streams hit her from every side. Faeryn rushed past her and grabbed Saige's hand.
"Rae's being a butt face", she shouted as they ran away. The witch and ex organization member followed suit. "So were going to let her cool off".
Saige laughed, "She's going to kill you".
"Ya well wear colors to my funereal,"
They reached the richer part of the city. Faeryn slowed her pace in front of one missing a wall. She pointed at it then looked at Saige confused. "Is that..."
"Yep", Saige narrowed her eyes trying to see inside the windows. The lights were still on and shadows were moving behind the blinds.
"Should we", Faeryn asked.
They heard their names and instantly knew the answer.
She was going to kill them both. It's rather sad; three of her four friends are at the top of her murder list. But first she had to find the idiots. Faeryn would not be too hard, just look for destruction and dead bodies. Ariana just listen for the annoying voice and find a place where the guys have six packs. Saige on the other hand would be tricky. They once played hide and seek in school and Saige hide in one of the classrooms. The teacher did not notice her sitting in the back will the class was halfway over.
"SAIGE FAERYN", Rae shouted. Her red hair laid flat against her face. Stupid witch, she can't wait for the duck to get stabbed in the back by her new "friend".
She turned around the corner and found a gate. Rae groaned. So much for punishing them.
She touched the surface and closed her eyes. As long as she's not stuck with Ariana everything will be fine.
Melody leaned against the cement wall. She sat in the very back corner of the cell. She kept her soul gem out so she was not in complete darkness. No one has come since the men in weird masks threw her in there. That's okay though, Saige probably went through far worse.
"I'm not available to take your call", Saige giggled. "Stop poking me Melody...but please leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can". Beep.
Melody closed her phone and sighed. No one was answering her calls, even Ariana who's in the same flippen world.
"What do you want", Melody asked.
Zexion stepped out of the shadows his long piece of silver hair was burnt black on the tip. He crossed his arms and frowned. "Are you really giving up this easily"?
"You did not answer my question", she stayed completely still staring at her gem as he crouched beside her. He reached out for her treasure but she instantly clasped her hand. "Go away".
"I feel the darkness slowly spreading in you", he straighten up. "No not in you...but in that gem. You practically an empty shell...just like a nobody".
He summoned a book and flicked through it. "When that gem turns black so does your soul. I wonder what will happen when it does."
"I'm fine", Melody glared. Actually glared, a small part of her cheered. That small part took over and she released a giggle. She covered her mouth with her hand and looked down.
"Do you feel like your mind does not understand your personality anymore", he asked. "Is there an empty feeling in your chest...?"
"Shut up", she snapped. "Why don't you just kill me now"?
"Because you're doing it yourself", he opened a portal and disappeared through it. Melody curled up into a ball and continued staring at her gem. It was not worth it.
Ariana pushed her way through the crowd of people. Korra and Mako ditched her the moment they snuck through security. The building was a huge warehouse. A stage with a poster of the creepy mask guy hanging above it was built against the farthest wall. All the people were in dark grubs instead of the bright colors she saw earlier. They chatted quietly to each other. Ariana caught snippets of conversations about some equality movement.
Then everything went silent. A man rose up from the stage. He looked like the man from the poster. Ariana tuned out what he was saying. She focused on the five people brought out in chains. Melody was second in the row. Her hair hung down in a tangled mess. While the others looked fearful she had a blank gaze.
At this point Ariana reached the front of the crowd just as the first man was untied and pushed forward. He threw fire at the masked man who simply stepped out of the way. The masked man was so fast that in a moment he appeared next to the fire bender and placed his hand on the man's face. His body dropped and taken away as Melody was released. She stood up and stared at the masked man.
"Do you have any last words before I take away your bending", Ariana heard the man say. The girl shook her head.
"Leave her alone you freak", Ariana shouted as she pulled herself up on stage. She ran in front of Melody and extended her arms to shield her friend.
"Ariana", Melody whispered. "You idiot".
"Well I'm an idiot that's going to save you", she grinned. Then her face went serious and she pointed at the masked man. "Look I don't care who you are but no one messes with fan girls. Especially not masked freaks. Seriously bro masks are so last year and the all black look isn't doing you much either".
"You're not a bender", the man said. "There is no reason for you to intervene".
"Obviously you never had a friend", she laughed and elbowed Melody. "Right Mel!"
"Go away Ariana your just going to get in the way"
"No I'm going to be the hero", she put her hand on her hips and stuck out her tongue. "So there".
"You are so immature", Melody rolled her eyes. "Maybe if you understood the word personal space we would not be in this situation"!
"I don't have time for this", the masked man said. His minion started to surround the girls. In the chaos Mako had ran up stage and freed his brother. They left through a side exit.
"No", Melody shouted her ring began to glow. She summoned a large bat and swung it at the men. They all fell back unconscious. People screamed and rushed back to the warehouse doors. "Why can't any of you leave me alone"?
"Why are you being mean Mel", Ariana took a step back. "I'm just trying to help you".
"I don't need your help", Melody giggled. Water burst out of the pipes above.
"Don't you see", the masked man lifted his arms up to the panicking crowd. "This is what benders do".
"Melody we need to go", Ariana pulled on the crazy girls arm. The water level was to her knees even with being on stage but Melody remained as still as a statue holding out a black spotted gem. The spots were growing with every second.
Ariana did not know what to do. She could not just laugh through the situation. Oh god, she thought. We can actually die. Everything was real, her friend was actually going crazy and there was an actual murderous villain a few feet away.
So Ariana did the first thing that came to her mind. She screamed. She screamed until her lungs and throat couldn't go on. It echoed through the warehouse and over the sound of rushing water. Melody stopped laughing. The gems glow dimmed. She looked around at the damage she caused.
"Ariana", she called as her friend s head bobbed underneath the water. Her legs stuck together. She felt the bones grind against each other. Melody swam down searching for the girl. She grabbed a pale arm and pulled up till their heads reached the surface. Arianas eyes remained closed as the mermaid navigated through the room. She allowed the current to push them through the semi opened door and into the back ally. She dragged the girl's body to where there was little water and sighed. She looked at the wrecked warehouse.
"Why would anyone want me now anyways," she turned the black gem into a ring. She should have felt pain but Melody turned that off a while ago.
"Bye Ariana", Melody turned away. "Don't bother following me".
With that the tall girl walked away with her bat dragging against the wet pavement.
Ariana woke in an puddle. She squealed jumping up. She then wrung out her shirt and looked around for Melody. The meanie left her alone again.
Ariana spun around almost hitting the time gate. The world around her disappeared and the first thing the girl heard upon arriving to the new one was "I AM NOT A MORON"!
Ariana smiled up at a giant blue robot with one blue eye. She waved trying to get its attention but it was focused on a woman in some kind of elevator and a talking potato.
The lift dropped suddenly and the giant robot peered down. "Uh oh".
"Well I'm sure their fine", he said spinning around. "Absolutely one hundred percent...oh hello".
"Hi", Ariana giggled.
"Don't want to be rude...but...how did you get in here", the orb extended closer to the girl. He circled around her as she spun around laughing. "Can... you...speak... English"
Ariana thought for a moment and shook her head. What an idiot! Did he not just hear her say hi a moment ago?
"Hables French", he shouted.
"Nope", Ariana winked. "I speak American".
"Okay that's very good", he nodded if robots can nod. "Glad you're not completely brain damaged...very good to know. Now...this is just an idea...but how about you help me out with some testing. I'm a little short on non-vegatable test subjects."
"But I don't like tests", she whined.
"No no", he blocked her way with a white panel as she tried to leave. "These will be FUN tests. With rewards and...Other FUN things. And you will most likely not die. Ninety percent chance of living and not dying."
"Fiiiine", she stuck her tongue out. The panel below her began to rise. The ceiling pulled apart and a blue light caught her in the air. It dragged her into a pure white room before disappearing. Ariana landed on her butt.
The room contained a screen with the blue robot, several cameras, a circle door and a big red button in the middle of the room.
"Okay now solve this puzzle", he said. When Ariana did not move he continued. "Only one solution. Quite easy...I made it myself. Should take no more than a few minutes. Any moment now...any moment."
"Ummm", Ariana knocked on the door.
"Okay here I'll give you a hint", the robot sighed. "Button". The amazing Ariana skipped to the big red button and stepped on it. The doors open and confetti fell from the ceiling. She stepped off to exit the room only to have the door close.
"So...you're going to find this funny...this chamber is actually unsolvable", the robot laughed. "Kind of forgot to place a cube in there...no worries...we'll just go around". The wall opened up to a walk looked as if there was no bottom. "I can't see you back there so I'm going to trust that you're following the bridge right now to the next test area. Just keep going. "
Ariana was bored of this game. And as she kept going the pathway split. Oh making good decisions were not her strong point, but the darker path seemed like a good option.
So she kept going and the robots voice sounded farther way as he kept rambling. Even Ariana did not talk that much.
"Are you almost here", the robots voice echoed. "If your almost here say apple. Still nothing? Did I mention we have cake...yes it's a bloody huge cake I made just for you. Humans LOVE cake right? Mmmh look at this delicious chocolate cake to bad I don't have a mouth. Guess it's going to go to waste unless a test subject comes along at completes this very easy test".
As much as Ariana loved cake she kept going. Of course she knew robots without arms could not bake a cake. Therefore he was lying to her and the queen hates liars. Off with all their heads!
She felt along the railing until she hit a metal door. It opened in and she looked down into a room that contained a human dummy and oval robots with an orange eye. One would shoot at the dummy then be moved by the belt to another room. She jumped down onto the belt next to a white robot and followed the line into the next room. She avoided the scanner and continued a head. The belt ended in a room full of the robots on shelves. It seemed to never end.
"Hello", the robots chimed one after another. Red lasers lowered down onto the girl. Then the shower of bullets came. Ariana ducked behind one of the turents. It blocked most of the fire.
"Ow", it shouted. "Stop". The robot burst into flames and Ariana ran away laughing. The bullets hit a power generator and the light bulbs in the room burst. Everything became pitch black except for their glowing eyes. The girl escaped through a tiny opening in the wall.
