The image of Miles standing on the tallest building in Two Gates burns in Tails' mind, so he immediately sets out for the massive structure to take on the evil fox one-on-one, but this time Tails will end it. He takes a few steps toward the building, but is stopped by Cream pulling on his arm
"You go up there now and you're dead, genius"
"She's right, he's got to be packing way too much backup in that building, you wouldn't get to the second floor" Marcus says
Just before Tails takes off, two explosions blast out one after the other, causing more screaming and panic in the city. Cream's phone starts to ring, so she answers it
"I've infiltrated Miles' building" It's Espio "He's got bombs going off on the south side, flooding the dam by West Gate, and his crew is pouring gasoline in the pipelines of Solace town. They're gonna torch it with everyone inside..We need to act fast on this one, the whole city could be wiped out in less than an hour"
"Okay, guys. Lets all take a side of town, whose got Solace town?" Tails asks
Cream's phone sounds "I've got the gas leaks, I'm near there" Espio answers
"Alright. Marcus, you take the bombs in the south. Cream, you get the people in the west end evacuated and try and stop that flood.."
"Tails, I just got word Miles is wiring a hospital to leak poison gas in the vents, but I'm not sure which one. Might have to check one by one" Espio says over the phone
"Damn. Okay, I'll get the hospitals… lets save as many citizens as we can and what's left of the city by morning, now lets move!" Tails orders
Marcus runs to the bombs being set in the south end, Cream takes flight and heads for the west end Dam for the flood and Tails, accompanied by Celia, head for the biggest hospital in town, Central state. Meanwhile, Espio scales a building, still invisible, and climbs around the downtown area.
Everything is upside down in his vision, and he keeps climbing around. Only a few stories higher on the same building, Miles and his three crew members Wes, Kat and Damon stand on the edge of the large structure and look on at their destruction
"Wes, I want you to look out for that Raccoon friend of Tails, he's big and dumb, you can't miss him. Kat, you go after the rabbit and bring her to me. Damon, I'm giving you the Chameleon. He might not look like much, but he can move. Even for a drunk he's pretty fast. Understand?" Miles looks at his crew, who all nod at him "DON'T let me down. I want them all here. otherwise, Don't come back at all… Now go!"
The Large hedgehog Wes is the first to get to the stairs of the building, while the smaller hedgehog uses a device that looks like a backpack to hover down the building. Damon, the silent purple and black haired Bat, snarls angrily and runs down the side of the building. He flies down and grabs a hold of Espio, then the two plummet down until the chameleon catches a ledge and kicks the bat off. Damon flies in the air, while Espio turns invisible again.
The bat uses his heat vision to see where his prey is, then he charges at the building. The chameleon puts his knee up and smashes it against Damon's face, then watches as the bat falls 5 stories to the ground.
Espio looks up and see Miles watching him, so he jumps from the building to another, and disappears
"God damn, Damon… GET UP AND FOLLOW HIM!" Miles yells to the bat
Espio hurries around the buildings, and looks back to see where Damon is, and in a second he finds the bat. Damon grows 3 times in size, and morphs into a larger Red and black bat, with longer braids dragging from his head
"Alright. Giant Bat, I can deal with this"
Espio somersaults off the buildings quickly to avoid being clawed at by Damon. He holds onto a flagpole and punches a hole in a wall, then grabs a brick. The chameleon aims it right and throws it at the bat's left eye, causing Damon to screech and go down again.
Espio climbs to the edge of the building and looks for the Bat but he is met with an even larger eyeball, which makes the chameleon back up and watch as Damon grows into a massive Vampire bat, now pure black with devil red eyes and no iris's, only a blood stain where the brick hit his left eye. Espio runs again, but knows it's only a matter of time before he is caught.
Miles laughs and turns his attention to the dam in the west.
Cream flies to the dam and gets to a large group of citizens shouting in panic, so she goes over to calm everyone down
"Alright, everybody. Calm down, I'm gonna need full co operation, there are thugs coming to flood this whole area. I need everyone to get to their families, friends and leave, head for the high school on Roscoe Ave, it's the safest place around this side of town. Come on everybody, lets go!" Cream shouts
It takes a few minutes, but soon everyone starts to evacuate the area and head for the high school, away from the dam. Cream is unaware Kat is after her, and soon the female hedgehog spots the rabbit getting the citizens away from the flooding dam. Kat zooms across the city and nose dives towards the warehouse area Cream is at. The two collide, and smash into a run down gas station
"What the?! Get off me!" Cream shouts, trying to fight off the heavier hedgehog
"You and your friends can't save everyone this time!" Kat yells
"Screw you, bitch!"
Cream slips under Kat and pulls her legs out from under her, making The Hedgehog fall on her face. Cream looks on at the dam and sees more thugs messing with a control grid on the switchboard. Cream punches Kat, rips off her backpack and ties a strap around the hedgehog's leg
"You're going for a ride, hold on!" Cream shouts
The rabbit pushes the on button and watches as the backpack pulls Kat into the air, but not before the hedgehog can dig her nails into Cream's face on the way out. Cream backs up and watches the hedgehog fly over the river. The fuel in the jetpack runs out and Kat plummets down towards the water. Cream flies over the water and to the dam. Cream ducks the punches and runs to the main thug at the switchboard
She kicks him in the gut and uses his momentum against him with a throw Tails showed her. The thug runs into his friends, then Cream Kicks him in the back, making all three go over the railing and to the water. The rabbit reverses the opening of the dam, and stops the flood. Cream stops to catch her breath and looks on at the city, hoping her friends are safe and in control of their situations.
Marcus runs to Solace town, a mini city where mostly children live in an orphanage, and a school is in the area. Marcus has the task of finding and disarming a series of bombs around this small city
"Damn, a map would be nice right about now.." Marcus says
The raccoon looks around and checks various dumpsters for any signs, but doesn't find a thing. Marcus looks at the empty buildings, but can't see or hear anyone in them, which is a bit suspicious
"Hello? any body here? if so, I need you to-"
A small crew of thugs run behind an apartment building in Solace, and Marcus spots something in a briefcase. The bomb.
The raccoon is careful not to be seen as he follows the group around a few blocks. The group stops and stands around, so Marcus takes this opportunity to spring out at them. Just before he can jump out, he is tackled back and hits a brick wall, then the guy in front of him takes off his hood. Manic
"Hey idiot, You're lettin' these guys plant another bomb!" Marcus shouts
"No, that's just a trap for you to fall for, which you almost did. One more step and you would've hit the trip wire, the detonation for the first two bombs at the front gate" Manic explains
"How'd you know?"
"I've been here for 20 minutes, and found them while looking around the area"
"Where did you go when you left?"
"Here, I had to make sure my friends were alright. I knew there were bombs around here when I found a trip wire and long blue wire in the storm drains. I got all the kids out of here and been looking around for more bombs. Now, no more questions"
"But, how do you know all this?"
"If they're setting trip wires like this, they know someone is here tailing them, it's common sense"
Marcus looks at Manic angrily, but hesitantly agrees to help him and watches out for trip wires, while scanning the area. He hears a loud screech and looks up, he spots Damon flying around, snarling and screeching as he smashes into buildings
"What the hell is that?!" Marcus yells
"Shut up! They'll hear us!" Manic looks over, the gang heard them
"Oh no.."
"What?"
Manic grabs Marcus' arm "GET DOWN!"
Miles looks out
Blow it to HELL!
The blast from Solace town is so large, Miles looks on from the large building and a small grin crosses his face. Manic and Marcus are buried under the fiery buildings that fall from their foundations. The crew takes off and leave the hedgehog and raccoon in Solace town.
Tails and Celia look on from street level at the damage done to the neighborhood.
The fox enters the hospital and looks around for any staff members; only a few scared nurses down the hall. Tails and Celia run to them and try to calm them down. Tails asks to be guided to the furnace in the basement. A nurse takes him to the doors and the fox examines furnaces, and thankfully doesn't find any poison gas being fed into the vents
"If he doesn't have this hospital wired, which is it?" Tails asks Celia
"I think we're just gonna have to keep looking, Tails"
The two get everyone out of the hospital and they head for the next closest one, while inside Solace town, Manic starts to get up. He pushes pieces of a building off of him and digs for Marcus. He sees the raccoon's hand and pulls him out, then the two stand up.
"Jesus, this was the kids' home, and now look at it.. that son of a bitch is gonna get his, I swear to god!" Manic says
"And Tails is gonna get him, Manic. We still got a job to do, take out the rest of these bombs so the whole south side doesn't go up like this" Marcus responds
"I hope your buddy can take Miles, I really do.."
Espio slows down and ducks into an alleyway, making Damon lose track of him for the moment. The chameleon tries to think of a plan but is distracted as the massive Bat smashes the building over top of him and looks around. Espio tries to hide in an apartment building but he is grabbed by the Damon's huge claw and raised into the air.
Espio hears a sinister laugh as Damon examines him, then smashes his fist into the roof of another building. Espio goes head first into the roof, then Damon does it again and again. Blood comes out of Espio's mouth, and Miles looks on with a smile
"Yeah, make that bastard suffer, Damon! See, this is why you're my best solider! Yeah, kick his ass!" Miles yells to the Vampire Bat
With both his arms stuck in Damon's grip, Espio can't do anything to defend himself, only sit back and take the pain. The Bat stops for a moment, and Espio is laid face first the roof he was smashed off. He shuts his eyes as he lays in a pool of his own blood, and it stings his eyes when blood gets in. Damon tries to swat at something flying, but is too slow.
Cream lands on his massive shoulder and swings an axe at his face. She hits Damon in the eye again, and kicks the handle so the blade goes deeper in his eye, causing him to scream in pain. Cream jumps off his shoulder and to Espio's side, while Damon backs up and screeches
Marcus looks up and sees the 50 foot tall Bat stumbling back towards Solace town, so he makes a quick move to grab Manic and take off the opposite way. Damon trips over a bridge and falls back first into Solace town. Marcus and Manic run down the street, narrowly avoiding being squashed under the Bat.
Miles looks over at a timer and sighs
"Damnit, Damon…"
The clock reads 0:00 and just then a series of bombs explode underneath Damon, but don't have as much force as the first two bombs did. The impact is smothered by the massive bat's body, and he absorbs the blast. Unable to stop the bombs, Miles looks the other way as his Best Solider is caught in the blast
"Holy shit, that guy just, how did he not blow up? Manic asks
"I don't know, but he solved our problem.." Marcus says
"Hey!" Cream shouts from the roof above the two "Meet us on the street!"
Tails and Celia check the nearest hospital, this time being greeted with not so friendly nurses and doctors. Tails is denied access to the furnaces, so he leaves and thinks about how he's going to get in there. He looks over and sees two people on a roof top walking around. He looks closer and sees this is Cream and Espio
"Can I use your phone for a minute?" Tails asks
"Yeah, here ya go" Celia hands her phone over
The fox dials Cream's number and waits for a response on the phone. Within a few seconds, she answers the call
"Who is this?" Cream asks over the line
"Tails, I'm using Celia's phone. I may need your help. I can't find the right hospital, and this one I'm at now, well they won't let me in the basement" Tails says
"Where are you? I can get Manic or Marcus there"
"On the edge of town, by the church on General Hill"
"Okay. Espio may need a hospital, I don't know if you saw that big Bat kicking his ass, but he's banged up bad"
"He gonna live?"
"Yeah, but I'm not sure if he can still fight"
"Keep him in a safe place, he'll heal up"
Tails and Celia make their way to town and bump into the duo of Manic and Marcus along the way on a side street
"So I heard you need help gettin' past a male nurse" Manic says
"Well, there's like 30 of them" Celia replies
"We'll handle this, Tails. you go to the next hospital just in case this isn't it. We can handle a fight.." Marcus says
"Alright. Keep in contact with us, call Cream after you search the place" Tails replies
Tails and Celia make their way back towards downtown, and the fox looks up at the building where Miles was at. Tails sees the evil fox is gone, and the large building is now on fire
"Damnit, he got away. I knew I should've got him when he was up there.." Tails says
"We'll get him later, we need to stop that poison from hitting the hospital" Celia says
Celia's phone rings, she looks at the screen, it's Cream "Hello, friend" Celia says jokingly
"Give the phone to Tails, I'm not talking to you"
"Oh, hopefully you'll get over that bad attitude sometime" the ferret as she hands the phone to Tails
"What's up?" Tails asks
Marcus called me, says that was an Illegal surgery facility, and a lot of patients with "Disfigurements" were staying in the basement. Sounded pretty gross" Cream says
"Anything else?"
"There's only two other hospitals in Two Gates, and I'm at one of them with Espio"
"So, he's got ...no, he wouldn't.." Tails stops
"What? What is Miles doing?" Celia asks
"That sick bastard has the children's hospital all wired up. some of those kids can't leave that place, and he wants to leak gas in there.. We gotta go now!" Tails shouts as he takes off
The fox and ferret run as fast as they can to the children's hospital, and when they get there, most of the staff are in tears. Tails looks around for Miles, but can't find him, while Celia goes to calm everyone down
"I need the key to the basement, I can stop the poison in here, but I need it now" Tails says
"Please, save the kids! This monster is already here, and he said no one here is getting out alive!" a nurse yells
"I'm going save everyone here, but I need to get downstairs" Tails says
The same nurse runs to the front desk, searches the drawers and finally pulls out the keys and runs back to Tails
"These are for every door in the building"
"Okay. Keep the kids calm, I'll take care of the problem" Tails replies
Just as he opens the door, Celia goes to follow him, but Tails stops her
"I don't want you getting hurt, stay up here, Celia"
"But what if you don't come back up?"
Tails pauses and thinks about this for a few seconds "If he comes out these doors instead of me, Shoot him"
Tails takes a step downstairs, shuts the door behind him and locks it incase Celia tries to come down. He makes his way down, and hears the wind blowing in the cold cellar. The only light is the one at the top of the stairs, so the deeper he goes, the darker it gets
"Hope you're not afraid of the dark, Prower!" Miles calls from the darkness
"Yeah, me too.."
