Me: Alright guys, as I promise, an update that DID NOT come TWO YEARS later. Just like maybe two months. Sorry, I was still working out my problems. I got through one-fourth of this chapter and then lost it until I received a message from Anime-Gaga that really inspired me to keep going. P.S. Main characters will be OOC because this is a HUMOROUS fanfic. Just to clarify that.

Aidou: You only brought in twelve reviews from the last chapter. Why are you even continuing? This story obviously sucks.

Me: T^T HUSH YOU PRETTY BOY! SHIKI! DISCLAIMER PLEASE!

Aidou: YOU ALWAYS PICK SHIKI.

Shiki: *sigh* Vampire Knight belongs to Matsuri Hino and all characters were borrowed for selfish reasons.

Chapter 10

Hope

"I'm dying." There was a raspy groan coming from beneath the blanket that belonged to Watanabe Miki. A lump, presumably her body, began moving around in the twin sized bed. Miki croaked pathetically, "Help would be appreciated from a dirty bastard like you."

Yakama glared at the limp figure and hastily snapped, "Miki, what the hell is wrong with you? You've been acting strange these past couple of weeks; as if you're suddenly a different person." The girl placed hands on her hips and grimaced. In a convicting tone she said, "I don't like it. To be honest, I don't think Aidou-san likes it either because he's been avoiding you like a plague. People even implied that you've were so out of character in the last chapter and you're totally going against the title of the series Nothing Different."

"Ai, please shut the fuck up." The form underneath the blanket moved again. Still, she had yet to rise from the bed.

With an exasperated sigh, Yakama stomped over and yanked the covers off. "Honestly Miki, you are most whiney and clingy little—AHHHHH!"

Faded blonde hair had grew to her waist and splayed across a rather thin body and was the color of ash brown; grey eyes were now green and the once sun-kissed tan skin had become deathly pale. Her cheekbones were hallowed and rings underneath her eyes were well emphasized by the natural light shining in through the window.

Yakama shrieked. "W-W-WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU? MIKI YOU'RE TAKING THIS DIFFERENT PERSON MEANING TO A NEW LEVEL!"

"I-Idiot! This is normal!" Miki croaked, curling herself up into a ball. Her expression was full of pain as she cradled her stomach with her arms. "I need you to go tell Yuuki-chan that I won't be attending prefect duties."

"NORMAL? ACTING AND LOOKING DIFFERENT IS NORMAL TO YOU?" The Japanese girl helped the sickly looking fairy sit up, pressing a hand to her forehead. Yakama yanked her hand back automatically, wounded. "OW! Miki, this isn't normal! You're burning up really badly. This isn't any ordinary type of fever!"

"It's because it's not a fever you twat."

"T-Then what is it?!"

"It's…It's…" A dark expression clouded over Miki as she spat, "It's the fairy version of puberty."

Yakama felt faint and fell off the bed. "S-So what do I do?"

"Unfortunately, I don't know what happens through the cycles of fairy puberty. I can only hope that I'll just get better. Now do me a favor and go tell Yuuki-chan I've caught a fever."

"Fine. I'll tell Yuuki-chan you're sick, but I'll go get help from Aidou-senpai! Surely he'll know how to get you through this predicament. "

Miki blanked out for a moment at the mention of the vampire and then shook her head vigorously. "Don't. I hate that bastard."

"You're being unreasonable. He's the only one that's probably willing enough to help you." Yakama was slightly confused at the sneering tone Miki used. Something must have happened because she remembered the fairy exclaiming how Aidou and her were the best of the bestest friends a month ago before she became a bit gloomy.

"I don't care. I'll get better eventually," Miki said. She started coughing violently.

Yakama rolled her eyes and laid Miki back down on the bed, pulling the blankets up to her neck. "I'll go get some wet towels, but no matter what, I'm asking Aidou-senpai for his help. Suck it up you turd."

There was a huff. Then,

"Your mom is a turd."

It was the afternoon of Monday did two certain vampires, Kain and Aidou, felt like ripping their ears out after being followed by a constant annoying human screeching in their ears.

"Please Aidou-senpai! I need your help and I don't know who else besides you to turn to!"

Kain was appalled by this statement.

"You're the only one that's willing to put up with her crap excuse of a behavior!"

Kain was no longer offended because of this true statement.

Yakama bowed her head to the blonde vampire standing nonchalantly in front of her. "Please, I beg of you."

Aidou turned to stare at her incredulously, critical even. "What do you want me to do? I'm a vampire. While we both may look like humans, we are nothing alike in terms of structures and powers."

"I know but you're the only one I can ask for help because you have access to the knowledge of fairies. You guys don't just study the standard core subjects but other things that pertain to your world. Right?"

Damn she was smart, unlike a certain fairy. "That may be true. However," he yawned and then snapped, "I'm not interested in helping someone who frequently disrupts my peace. For once, I don't have some little blonde girl in my face demanding to be fed pizza covered in fried chicken. Also, I can rest in peace knowing that I'm not having naked pictures of myself being sold on the black market."

"Me too," Kain said with agreement, nodding.

"Hey, you're not the only one that thinks that! But she's...Miki she's... She's reaching the age of adulthood in fairy years right now," Yakama mumbled, abashed. Why was he being so stubborn now? He was usually more pleasant to deal with when Miki was around. "Aidou-senpai, I don't know what to do. Her eyes are green and her hair is brown. She's too pale and her body is literally BURNING up right now. Miki doesn't look like herself and she hasn't even asked me to cook for her in two weeks!"

"That's scary actually," Kain commented idly, finally making his presence known to her. "Watanabe-san not asking you to cook in two weeks that is. If that's the case, you really need to help her, Hanabusa. This is no laughing matter. She could actually be on the verge of death."

The last phrase stung a bit.

"Hmm...let me thinking about it; how about no. I have better things to do than look up information about fairies reaching the age of adulthood."

"No you don't," Kain blatantly pointed out. "You're always stalking Kaname-sama or glaring at Shiki."

"Shut up Akatsuki! Why would I waste my time trying to fix up some brat? It's better if she's bed ridden." He crossed his arms in defiance. "Besides, I have to guard Kaname-sama from the transfer Kurenai. I still don't trust her and it is NOT stalking!" And if he was honest with himself, he didn't trust himself either around Miki no more. Last time when he curiously tasted her blood...a shiver of delight trailed down his back. She was right. Fairy blood tasted like the fountain of youth. Just one drop, one drop, of her blood drove him off the wall. Fingernails were clawing deeply into the palm of his skin. He wanted more.

"Aidou-senpai!" The vampire snapped out of his day dream and glared at her. Yakama winced and gradually said, "She's been strange the day you bought her to the infirmary. Maybe you'll know the reason why Miki's been acting this way."

He narrowed his eyes and he was brought back to the memory from two weeks ago. It was true. Miki had been extremely dreary. She had been too upset, too girlish, too forgiving, and definitely too willing; so unlike herself. Perhaps reaching puberty may have been the main cause of the change in her personality. Hormone imbalance did make most girls become clinically insane.

However…Aidou wanted to see Miki. Not in a dark and depressing mood but when she was being stupid and telling terrible jokes that secretly made him feel better.

Aidou missed Miki.

"What do I get if I help her?"

The two correspondents blinked before they chortled. They knew he would come around eventually.

Yakama replied briefly, "Anything you want."

He nodded. "I'll take you up on your word for that, human. Let's go Akatsuki."

The nerve he had.

Aidou came and visited the girl's dorm when Yakama was out. In his arms were a stack of books from the vampire's special library. Jiggling the knob to open the door, he kicked the wood down. It flew and hit the wall. Tossing the books in the room that didn't belong to him on the ground messily; he shut the door and crossed over to Miki's bed, yanking the covers away.

He raised an eyebrow.

Yakama had not lied.

Bending down next to her bed and quietly removed the cooling cloth on her forehead, he placed a hand over it. Miki felt like she was suffering from Akatsuki's flames. Aidou had quickly casted a light sheen of ice over her forehead. The uncomfortable crease in her forehead relaxed as she sighed with relief and fell into a more contented slumber.

He eyed the ashy brown hair critically and grasped a few strands, rubbing it gently between his fingers. There was something strange and unnatural about the gleam of blue it displayed when he lifted it up to the light. Grabbing a pair of scissor, he snapped off an inch of her hair and watched the ash brown fade into its original color—blonde.

Ah-ha! He recognized at least one of the symptoms. Aidou grabbed one of his books on the floor and flipped through the contents. He scanned the words steadily written in the book for a few more pages before he snapped it shut. Being naturally talented in academics, he remembered studying about fairies in a certain chapter of a book he read two years ago and knew where to look for certain information. He wasn't a genius for nothing. "That idiot isn't going through puberty. She's caught a virus."

Leaning over the bed, Aidou shook the younger girl in the bed ruthlessly. He was still upset her rejecting him. After all that trouble he went through just to confess to her. Logic was telling him the reason she wasn't acting herself was because of the virus. He didn't want to listen to logic as of current. "Oi."

She stirred slightly.

"Get up you insolent fairy." He shook her again. "Don't make me break your laptop."

Miki sat up. Without opening her eyes, she slapped Aidou in the face. "Ai, shut the fuck up or I'll kill your boyfriend."

Aidou gaped in shock before he shouted, "OPEN YOUR EYES!"

Miki's eyes were emerald green instead of the usual grey when her lids flew up. Aidou leaned back to examine her full appearance, he decided that green and ash brown wasn't her color. While others would deem her cuter than before, he didn't. She looked better with the horrendous faded blonde and sun-kissed tan.

Bloodshot eyes peered at him and rings of dark circles formed underneath. She looked miserable. "If you're here to make a comment about my shitty appearance or tell me I'm not worth it again, get out. I have no use for it." Okay, so new Miki wasn't exactly the most pleasant person to deal with.

"You're not going through puberty."

"Huh?"

"You're sick."

"…Are you stupid? I know I'm sick. Geezus, take that pole out of your ass."

Aidou was about to speak but closed his mouth before he spluttered, "WHAT?"

"I just wanted Ai to leave me alone for a while." She shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. Bringing up her arm, she coughed into it and sniffled. Damn sickness.

"So you told her you were going through fairy puberty instead of the truth?"

"If I didn't lie she would be even more worried."

Aidou closed his mouth. She had a good point. Had Yakama found out the original condition Miki was in, she would've thrown a worst fit and would nag him to death about it. He pinched the bridge of his nose from irritation. He forgot how annoyingly right she could be sometimes. "Tell me what you know about your sickness at least. I need confirmation."

She glanced down at the books scattered on the floor and didn't comment on it. It would embarrass him because he didn't like admitting that he cared just a tad bit. Miki said, "To start off, fairies aren't meant to eat human food for so long. There's only so much that we can handle because of all the preservatives and impure elements it contains." Miki paused to grab a kleenex hidden under her pillow and blew into it before she continued in a nasally voice, "We're meant to only eat food grown for ourselves. However, I can't eat any fairy food because I'm banished from my home."

"So this is normal for you then?" Aidou grabbed the dirty tissue held out to him and tossed it in the trash for her. Ugh, germs. He'd rather deal with blood than people's germs.

"Yes."

"How often?"

"Every twenty years." Right. He had forgotten she was four hundred and eighty-six years old.

"When were you banished?"

"I was two hundred and twenty-six years old when I was banished." She took out another Kleenex and sneezed.

He took the tissue, disgusted still, and tossed it for her. "So this is your thirteenth time for your purification process?"

"Yes."

"How do you fix it?"

"Holy water."

Aidou snorted in disbelief. "You fix your sickness by drinking holy water?"

Miki stared blankly at him and then sniffled. "Do not underestimate the power of God and the work of his men. Holy water is completely purified and cleanses every toxic waste in my body. It only takes at least a month before I return to normal."

"Tsk. Good. I hate this new you. If I knew how irritating your personality would get from eating shitty human food, I would have stopped you from consuming things a long time ago."

Miki quirked a small smirk. Haughtily, she responded, "Hey. You complain about me all the time and my horrifying habits, but you really are in love with me, aren't you? Why else would you be helping me right now even after I rejected you?"

There was a still silence that passed between them.

In. Out. In. Out.

Breathing was the only sound that bounced off the walls.

Aidou wordlessly got off the side of the bed and began picking up the books on the floor, stacking them neatly.

"Sorry. Was I to blunt?"

"Go back to sleep. I'll be heading to my dorm before Kaname-sama questions my missing presence."

"I said I was sorry." Miki rolled her eyes. (Kaname was probably rejoicing right now.) She watched Aidou head to the doorway and hastily stood up, tackling him to the floor. Weak and sick she may be, the girl was still athletic and managed to accomplish little things with no effort. "Don't leave me. I need you."

Aidou turned beet red, feeling flustered. She was hugging his waist firmly, face buried into his back while she spoke in a muffled voice. "W-what the hell are you suggesting you idiot! Don't say stupid things like that!" Despite yelling at her, he maneuvered himself out of her grip and was faced with the sick girl staring at him intently with green orbs and a flushed appearance.

He swallowed the lump in his throat.

"Get off me and get back on the bed," Aidou croaked. She was too close for comfort. "You're sick. You need to be resti—"

"I need you," Miki emphasized, cutting him off.

Annoyance flashed within him. "Don't screw around with me."

"I'm not screwing around! I need you." He could hear the desperation in her raspy voice while she clenched at his white blazer tightly. There was another sniffle. "You damn butthead. I need you for your powers. It's hot in this room and you have the ability to produce ice."

….

"So that is the reason why you need me." Aidou scowled deeply. "You are such a selfish brat." Sliding a hand under her legs and behind her back, he stood up and carried her back to her bed—dumping her on the mattress carelessly.

"Yeah, but you love this selfish brat."

Icy blue eyes narrowed into slits while he turned his back on her.

"Once. I'm only doing this once and you will never tell anyone what happened in here or I'll break your laptop." Aidou was stripping his blazer and dress shirt off—donning a plain white form fitting t-shirt.

"Uhh…what are you doing?" Her eyes widened. He was kicking off his loafers and placing his sock inside them. The sound of a belt being unbuckled was next and she cried out in fear, "I said I needed you but I'm not going to sit here if you plan to rape me!"

Aidou rolled his eyes and tucked the belt next to his shoes.

"I'm not going to rape you. Now move over Watanabe."

"Wait a minute, what?"

"I said move over."

"Umm…" She cautiously moved over to the side of the bed and Aidou crawled in the tiny mattress besides her. "Aidou…Normally, I don't ask this. But what the hell are you doing?"

"Would you just keep your mouth shut for a minute?" There was a unpleasant huff. If Miki squinted, she could see his face was still red. "Your virus isn't transferrable since it applies only to fairies. I won't be affected by it even at a close distant and your body has become too overheated than an average person. Putting a cast of ice over your forehead will be useless if I'm not here because once I leave the room it'll be gone or melt after a period of time. So…" There was an awkward pause as he opened his arms.

She stared idiotically. "So…Umm…You're opening up the ice world to me?"

"NO! Just…Ugh! You make everything so complicated!" He pulled her in and hugged her, fingers buried deep within her silky hair and hand on the lower back to support her.

"O-Oh." Miki instantly felt the coolness radiating from his body and exhaled deeply in relief and satisfaction. "Wow Aidou, you're such a genius." She snuggled closer to him, oblivious to the hitch of his breath or the rigidness in his body.

"I've always been a genius," he muttered. Aidou slowly leaned backwards and laid on the mattress with Miki in his arms, careful not to disturb her by sudden movements. He closed his eyes, trying to restrain himself from taking advantage of this position. The rich scent of her blood was taking over his sense of smell, reminding him of the last event. Aidou groaned softly when the heat of her breath hit his neck.

This was a mistake.

Miki was tempting him and she didn't realize it.

"Aidou," she called out quietly.

He took a moment before replying tersely, "What do you want now Watanabe?"

"Do you want to make out?"

He cursed under his breath. "Damn it. Just go to sleep."

"Why not? When I'm over this sickness, I won't remember the past month at all." Miki was laughing at his expense, fingers trailing over his taut muscles as playfully as she could be. She then settled her hand over his chest.

"You won't remember anything?" He was tempted to push her away and walk out on her. But the chance of being this close to Miki was never going to happen again. She wanted Shiki. Not him. She didn't want Aidou Hanabusa in a romantic sense. In his mind, Aidou was pondering if Miki wanted Shiki to be cradling the smaller girl in her arms and listen to the rhythmic pound of his heartbeat against his chest—like what she was doing with the vampire right now.

"Nothing." She confirmed his statement. "Not even your confession." Miki looked up at him, trying to catch his eyes. There was a speck of red in the electric blue eyes of his glaring down at her, clouded with a longing desire. She averted her eyes away from him and pressed her face against him. "Thinking about taking up that offer now?"

He clicked his tongue again and scowled. "As if. If this was how you actually acted all the time, I would never fall for someone like you. You're too plain and boring."

"I'm still Miki no matter what. And if I wasn't behaving this way, you would never be doing this. You hate being touchy around me."

"I'm doing this because you're sick."

"No. You're doing this because you're in love with me. Admit it."

"The Miki I know is an absolute buffoon. You're just a virus that comes back every twenty years because that girl is a fatass and refuses to eat healthy. So hurry up and leave. I don't like this version of Miki."

"You called me Miki." A laugh emitted from her but she closed her eyes nonetheless. "Give me another week and I'll be back to normal, gay boy."

"Tsk." Aidou placed his hand back over her forehead and placed his hand over her forehead to cool her down, making sure it was at a bearable temperature. "Go back to sleep. You need the rest. After this stupid virus is over, everything will go back to normal."

"Oh? Normal as in you're still my friend or no speaking to each other?"

"I don't know. It depends. You do realize you annoy me right? You're always in my face screaming at me and then you act all nice and girly around Shiki." Sorta nice. She was still mean about the maroon-haired's name.

"Is it because I'm not worth it?"

There was a wince from Aidou. She was still affected by the last thing he said to her before they stopped speaking. He looked down to see her gripping the shirt in his chest area tightly. Aidou cleared his throat. "Last time I said that because I was angry." He said that quite pathetically while resting his chin above her head. The hand on her forehead remained, but his free arm pulled her closer. "I didn't like how you chose Shiki over me when I met you first. To make things worse, you told me to fight for you. This isn't some stupid K-drama or shoujo manga; don't think for a second that you can get away with anything just because I like you."

She began sneezing and Aidou reached underneath the pillow to hand her a tissue. She grabbed it with thanks and wiped the snot forming. She crumpled it in threw it in the trash, ignoring the indignant glower from him. (She could've thrown the tissues from earlier away herself.) Miki replied, "A simple yes or no would've answered the question."

"I was getting there you insufferable fool."

"Well this insufferable fool is getting tired so you can tell me the answer to that when I wake up. Before I do sleep, can I tell you something first?"

"It better be the last thing you tell me."

"I promise." Miki smiled.

"If I were to honestly choose between you and Shiki, I'd probably pick you if you were more open about your feelings like this. You're quite romantic when you choose to be."

When she fell asleep, Aidou recalled the last statement more than once before a tiny grin broke out.

There was hope.

"LOOK AT MY SLICK ASS MOVES!" Miki pretended she was surfing, waving her arms back and forth while relentlessly yelling, "GNARLY DUDE!" She had her normal tan back, faded blonde hair, and grey eyes filled with mischievous. Proof of recovery from her sickness was shown through her acts of complete idiocy. "Fifty! Check out my sweet moves! It's totally whack!"

Zero didn't bother to correct her for forgetting his name again. Nor did he make the mistake of looking up. It was Miki's second day as being the prefect (not counting the sick days) and she had climbed up the wall that separated the night class to pretend she was surfing. Not gnarly. At least she was a good distraction to the screeching fan girls.

"Miki-chan! You shouldn't do that, it's dangerous!" Yuuki cried out, flailing her arms in a panicking motion. "You could fall and hurt yourself!"

"Dangerous smangerous! Only hardcore people like me would dare to do this stunt! I call this next move the "I just got laid by toilet paper and am no longer a virgin!" Hell yeah!" She did air guitar solos.

"More like hell no," Aidou muttered under his breath. There was a consequence in helping the girl recover from her illness. Now he, along with everyone else, was feeling second hand embarrassment just from watching her make a fool out of herself. "Get down from there Watanabe! You're lowering our IQs just from watching you!"

"SHUT UP YOU BUTTHOLE!" Miki pulled a pink bra out of nowhere and hurled it at his face with good aim. "TAKE THIS YOU VIRGIN SNOB!"

Aidou caught it with his hands and balked. "WHAT THE HELL WATANABE?"

On the other side, Yakama yelled the same thing as Aidou but added, "THAT WAS YOUR ONLY BRA!"

Miki turned and glanced down at her best friend. "Uhh…That wasn't my only bra...was it?"

"Was it pink and stretchable?"

"...yes."

"No wires inside of it?"

"...yes."

"Lacy?"

"…yes."

"That's your only bra you idiot."

Miki touched her chest and gasped, resembling a fine shade of tomatoes from mortification. "NOOO! THAT WAS MY FAVORITE!" It was her favorite bra because it was her only bra. She jumped off the wall and flung herself at Aidou. "YOU FIEND. STEALING MY INNOCENT BRA! HOW COULD YOU?"

Aidou sidestepped her attack and stared at the pink lacy bra in his hand. There was a snicker. "Wow Watanabe, I never knew you were so small. Cup AA? I didn't think they even still made those sizes anymore. Standard size is C."

Ruka's laughter was muffled by her hand.

"ARGH! AIDOU GIVE IT BACK BEFORE I GOUGE YOUR EYES OUT!"

She could see the look of pity and glee sent her way.

He held the bra out of her reach with a shit eating grin. "Who's the virgin snob now?"

"KANAME-SENPAI, AIDOU IS BULLYING ME!"

"I AM NOT!"

"GIVE IT BACK!"

"CATCH IT AKATSUKI!" He flung it at his cousin.

"Uhh…" Miki was running at Kain with full speed. He tossed it to Ichijou.

"ICHINI-SAN PLEASE!"

"Sorry~, that's not my name," Ichijou said with a jolly laughter, throwing it to Rima. "Oh! This is so fun! It's like playing monkey in the middle."

"NO ICHIHOE! WHY?"

Rima blinked at the bra in her hand and smirked. "Sorry, I can't fit it. Here Ruka-san."

"Nope. It's too small." Ruka handed it to Kaname.

"YOU GIRLS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ON MY SIDE."

"Sorry, I have no use for trivial things," Kaname stated. Off to Seiren it went.

"IT'S NOT TRIVIAL!"

"…" Seiren shook her head and tossed it up in the air for whomever to catch it. Miki's bra went off into the crowd of unanimous vampires making comments about it left and right.

"NOT MUTE GIRL TOO!"

Meanwhile, Miki was kneeling on the ground while viciously pounding it with her fist. "DAMN YOU AIDOU! DAMN YOU TO CANDY MOUNTAIN! MY ONLY BRA AND IT HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO BEASTS LIKE YOU TO TEAR AT THE LITTLE PRIDE I HAVE."

Shiki was the last person to be handed the bra to while Miki was ranting about how the Night Class were bullies and she was the victim in need of saving. Aidou was guffawing at her antics very arrogantly. He looked back at the Night Class and Miki before resigning himself to be the poor bastard that would pity her. "Watanabe-san. Here is your, " he resisted a snort, "delicacy."

The blonde girl instantly tackled him to the ground, arms and legs coiled around his waist. "OH BAT SHIT! YOU'RE MY SAVIOR!HOW CAN I EVER REPAY YOU?" She was squeezing the oxygen out of him.

"Getting off me would be nice," Shiki suggested lightheartedly.

"Haha, never." Miki only loosened her grip but that gave Shiki enough sit up with the girl in his lap. Goodness Miki was heavy for having such a thin waist and flat stomach.

Aidou felt jealousy stir within him and he yanked the bra out of Shiki's grip. "You're suffocating him!"

Without a warning, Miki jumped off Shiki (which he was grateful for) and proceeded to stomp on Aidou's foot. Hard. He yelped and let go of the bra, which Miki grabbed and stuffed it in her blazer. "You're such an asshole."

Aidou scowled at her. "I have no clue why people even put up with you?"

"We have no idea why YOU put up with her," Kain interjected.

Miki merely flipped her hair over her shoulder and flashed Aidou a grin. "Isn't it because you're irresistibly and hopelessly in love with me, Hanabusa?"

"HUH?" He gawked.

"Oh! You finally figured out your feelings for her? That's good!" Ichijou said with a pleasant smile on his face. He turned to the group. "Everyone who bet against me, please fork up five-hundred yen—except you Kaname-sama, you betted a thousand against me." Everyone besides Kain and Shiki inwardly cursed. Damn intuitive blonde.

Aidou's jaw dropped. "WHAT?"

"We took a bet on whether or not you would realize your feelings for Watanabe-san," Kaname explained with a dejected tone. He shook his head. "It was quite pathetic. Really Aidou, couldn't you have waited a month longer?" The gate was slowly opening and the vampires who betted against Aidou were glaring at the genius himself as they made exit.

"Thanks a lot, jerk," Ruka muttered.

"Couldn't wait three more days before you realized it," Rima said as she exited. Clearly, they were all saddened by their loss.

Ichijou patted Aidou's shoulders quite excitedly and grinned at him with a dazzling beam. "You're the best!"

All started leaving one by one until it was just Miki and Aidou left alone.

"I thought you said you would forget."

Miki took a large step away from him, not used to the calm tone of Aidou's voice.

"About that…dude, I kinda…lied to see if you would act any different around me." There was a sheepish smile on her face. "If it helps, that was the only thing I lied about. My atrocious mood was based on my ill at that time so you can forget about me being insecure and an emotional wreck. I'm too awesome to feel like a Mary Sue."

"I refuse to believe that."

"Fffffinee. Don't believe I'm awesome then."

There was a frustrated huff of aggravation that ceased to never stop with the fairy around.

"I mean I refuse to believe that you secretly aren't an insecure and emotional reckless girl. While you were infuriating because of the virus, everything you said had some form of truth to it." Aidou curiously studied the smile that began fading and her face morphing into one expressing indignity. He grinned cockily. "Meaning, you would pick me over Shiki if I was more open to my feelings about you."

"N-No! I MEAN NO! I was j-just playing around. H-haha! Haha, and you fell for it! YOU FOOL!" Miki rambled, waving her hands in front of her and fake laughing obnoxiously. "How hilarious of you to fall for my trick since I am the greatest prankster of them all!" A screech came next as Aidou yanked her into his chest. "WHAT THE FUDGING COOKIE MONSTER DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? THIS IS STATUTORY RAPE BECAUSE I'M OLDER THAN YOU BY LIKE A THOUSAND CUPS OF NOODLES!" Miki struggled in his tight grip and gasped.

"DID YOU JUST BITE ME?"

Aidou hopped away—mirth twinkling in his eyes as his tongue playfully licked the bottom of his lips. It was too late to stop the warmth flooding Miki's cheeks. "Remember that I'm going to win you over."

"EFF YOU!"

As he set off to class, he remembered a question Miki had asked a week ago that he never answered. Turning his head to the side, he called out, "Watanabe!"

"WHAT?"

"You are worth it."

Aidou had the satisfaction of seeing her collapse to the ground in silence, hand over her chest and scarlet tainting her tan cheeks while lips were quivering from shock. There was a bounce in his step when he walked to class with Miki's stolen bra stuffed into his pocket that afternoon.

There was hope.

Me: No seriously guys, reviews would be nice seeing as how only twelve people reviewed last chapter when I HAVE SO MUCH FAVORITES.

P.S. YES. I DID PLAN THIS OUT FROM THE LAST CHAPTER WITH THE CHANGE OF THE CHARACTER'S PERSONALITY. How else was their relationship going to progress romantically? Yeesh.
