Nate POV
A few days later
Man this woman can talk. Doesn't Aleena know that we all just want to go home? After this class schools over for the next couple of weeks and she keeps on dragging her points along. She has to be doing it on purpose because she and Wrex normally enter the combat sims and battle each other after school so what the fuck is she doing. This school doesn't seem to have any problem recruiting mercs or at least former mercs as teachers because out of my five teachers three of them were mercenaries like Zaeed, Wrex and Aleena
No one on my row was listening. Thane wasn't paying any attention, neither were Jacob or Jack. Most of the class were just watching the clock to see when this would be over. There were still 20 minutes left.
I could drop this course if I wanted to but I actually like it. Aleena is rather entertaining, she's sort of like Zaeed in the sense of storytelling and most of them involve Wrex so it's interesting to see what they did when they were younger. This class has also taught me how to do certain moves like Nova and shockwave. I'm also trying to learn some new ones like flare and reave, my objective by the end of this year is to at least learn singularity as well as master my current abilities. The only problem is it is mainly biotic theory and learning how to use moves, any practice in combat would have to be done in your own time.
"OK now morons" Aleena shouted gaining the classes attention "I know you're just waiting for the bell so you can go on break right" she said, there were some murmurs of agreement "And you can have fun, party and relax" she encouraged gaining louder support "Too Bad!"
I snickered a little when she said that because of the loud ass groan that followed "You have an assignment. You are going to list your entire biotic arsenal and I mean everything, write what you have to do to activate them. And rank them in order of which you think is your best to your worst" she finished with a smirk "Plagiarism will result to permanent expulsion" she scanned the room and sadistically smirked at the annoyed look on the students faces "Well what are you waiting for. Dismissed!" she yelled which incited a stampede for the door. Jacob, Thane, Jack and I stood back and watched the show. People were clawing to get to the front of the queue and some used their biotics to push others out of the way. Aleena was smiling at the scene in front of her, man she's got a cruel streak
"Finally some down time" Jacob appreciated "I'm headed for Flux with Kasumi and James any of you guys wanna come?" he invited looking at the three of us
"Nah I can't I'm tutoring biotics" I explained I turned to Jack "Hey are coming today" I asked and sh gave me a nod.
"Wait the two of you teach biotics" Jacob asked incredulously "To what?" he joked
"Funny. We tutor not necessarily teach. Sometimes we teach but we mostly just help people improve their abilities" I explained
"Scales why don't you do it?" she asked the drell assassin
"I can't. I have other commitments" he responded more robotically than he normally does
"Like what" Jacob asked
"It's personal" he said. Code for shut the fuck up, I probably shouldn't press any further
Jacob understood that he didn't want to talk about it "Okay… I'm gonna meet up with them at the gate so see ya later" he waved us goodbye
"Jack come on we're gonna be late" I encouraged "Kaidan is waiting for us at reception". As a member of this school I've got to have some extracurricular activity which is productive, for the past couple of years I've done this biotic tutoring course over at C-Sec Academy. My class mainly consists of people above 11 years, but lately Aunt Kahlee has started trusting me with the kids. Me and Miranda have been doing it since we enrolled, that's when I actually started talking to her.
When we had reached reception we saw Kaidan talking to Rylee and Miranda. They were laughing at something or other he was saying.
"You're shitting me" Rylee laughed in disbelief
"I shit you not Rylee it was this big" he said gesturing something long
The two girls started giggling "There's no way, impossible, I've had hundreds of those in my hands and their never that big" Miranda added. Are they talking about what they think they're talking about? And how the hell would Kaidan know anything about that
"Yeah me too Kaidan, you've gotta be lying" Rylee giggled. She's had how many WHAT'S in her WHAT? Someone's gonna die
"Would I lie about something so critical" Kaidan joked
"After all this time calling you a skank. It turns out I was right" Jack said looking directly at Miranda. She glared at Jack menacingly
"I never knew you were so…. Adventurous Miri" I joked but she looked offended
"We're talking about pistols" Kaidan said "Well at least heavy pistols, I can never remember the difference" he finished
"Yeah. What did you think we were talking about?" Rylee accused, I looked to Jack in hope she could say something but she was too busy engaging Miranda in a staring contest.
I didn't want to answer "Hey Kaidan we're gonna be late" I said wishing that it would end this conversation. Rylee just shook her head, whilst smirking
"Dumbass" I heard that word escape Jack's lips, it was one of her nicknames for me, along with jackass so I called her the psychotic biotic.
"Nate I probably won't be home for a while so tell mum that okay" Rylee informed me, I just nodded. I'm glad she's got a job and I know just how much she loves kids
We began walking into the Wards, since the class was in C-Sec Academy so I could always hang out at Garrus' afterwards. I could see that Miranda had something on her mind since she kept fidgeting with her fingers.
"What's on your mind" I asked her
"It's pretty silly… I mean it's nothing" she let it slip
"Come on, you can tell me" I teased earing me a smile from her, however it was quickly replaced with a nervous look
"I'm not…. You know…. you know what this is silly" she dismissed. Oh that's it, she's flustered because of what happened. I can have fun with this
"Miri it's nothing to be ashamed of" I said putting an arm around her "How you live your life is your choice. I don't judge… Really" I smiled at her as she looked at me in horror
"No I'm not a slut" she defended
"Come on Miri, I've heard the guys talking"
"About what" she smirked, I guess she's finally caught on that I'm joking
"They said with you it's not an if but a when"
"Really"
"Yeah there's even a code word. OPEN THE WALLS OF JERICHO" I said opening my arms wide. Her mouth was agape from shock and with my wide arms I hugged her.
As I was hugging her I felt this sharp force connect with my forehead knocking me back an on the ground. I think I might have a concussion since I'm starting to see double and there's this ringing in my ear. Man this hearts like a bitch. I sat up and saw what I expected, Jack smiling sweetly at me
"Woops. Guess my hand slipped" she feigned innocence. This was happening more and more often, when I start getting friendly with another girl she hits me with her biotics. And if they start flirting with me, I still get hit with her biotics. What's the matter with her? I got up and raised my middle finger towards her a gesture she gladly returned.
Kaidan began to snicker "What's so funny?" I asked with a friendly but threatening tone
"Oh it's not you being laid flat on your ass by a girl half your size" he pointed out and Miranda started laughing as well as Jack
"So what is it?" I asked slightly annoyed
"Just remembering this conversation I had with Thane"
"And what was it about?"
He looked thoughtful for a moment "Jack's new hair-do" he smirked at Jack. Her head jolted upwards. She stared a hole through Kaidan's head but he just smiled. I then looked at her hair, I liked her when she was bald, and it looked sexy and hot. But with hair she looks beautiful. She is one of the most gorgeous women I have ever seen in my life, it doesn't cascade down her back like it does in cheesy novels, it's fairly short, but that doesn't make her any less beautiful.
"I like. I think it looks good" I complimented. She looked at her feet, and I couldn't tell for sure but I think she was blushing. Naah that's impossible.
She looked at me with fury with her eyes as slits. "Why the fuck should I care about what you think" she growled "I didn't grow my hair out for your approval or any shit". My eyes became wide "So you should just keep your thoughts to yourself or else I'll rip your balls off and feed them to the cheerleader" she threatened.
What the fuck I just gave her a compliment and now she wants to kill me. What is the matter with this girl?
Kaidan started laughing at what was happening so I tripped him over with my biotics. He landed face first on the pavement. Whilst his head was on the floor he put his middle finger in the air.
"You're welcome Kaidan"
"Fuck you" he responded

Jack POV
C-Sec Academy
That shithead has a lot of balls to think that I grew my hair out because of him. How fucking narcissistic can you be to think that everything happens because of you. I should drop his ass right now but we're here. C-Sec Academy. A lot of people think that this place is a paragon a justice and law but I know better. This place is riddled with corruption and dirty deals. Hell I've been involved with a lot of them, both with Cerberus and Aria. Sure there may be a few actual 'honourable' cops here but they stick to the rules so much they can't actually do their job. I haven't met a single one who's capable of doing their job properly. On the way there I saw a couple of the guys I've dealt with for Aria like Kuril, Kaira Stirling, Anoleis and, Ethan Jeong.
Nate and Kaidan began talking with this Turian who was huge at least 6ft9. They were speaking with respect but I could tell it was a friendly conversation and they were referring to him as 'sir'.
When we reached the section dedicated to training we saw Kahlee Sanders waiting for us with the students along with the adult instructors like Aethyta, Falere, Rila, Nyxeris ,Shiala, Helena. The four of us are the youngest there and we're only allowed in because we're a part of the Advanced Biotics course.
"Hey guys" she greeted "Today we're gonna show the students how to use a barrier for as long as they possibly can" she informed us "There are quite a few people here today so you are each going to take a group and show them how to do it. Can you do that?" we all nodded.
When I first joined it mainly consisted of adults but now there are even more people younger than me. The doors opened and the students flooded in about 40 of them. Nate was swarmed by bunch of horny teenagers, this seemed to happen all of the time whilst the bitch and I were ambushed by horny teenage guys. Some of the girls must have gotten a look at Kaidan and they attacked him too. The adults looked thoroughly entertained watching the show, what is it with adults and enjoying teenagers fight each other. The other grown-ups walked over to the experienced instructors. It was split 6 for me, 7 for the cheerleader, 8 for Nate, 5 for Kaidan and 14 for the adults.
The ones we were left with looked like they were between 12 and 17 years old. "OK fuckers. Today you're gonna hold up a barrier for 5 minutes" I instructed but they were too immersed with my tattoos. "Whoever can't even last that long then you can fuck off" I growled hoping it would give them the right idea but instead they looked like they were ready to fuck me right on the spot.
We all threw up a barrier and sat on the floor, one of the dumbasses threw a stasis field around himself, he wasn't a kid either he looked like he was like 17. Wow these guys are stupid.
I glanced at Nates group just in time to see them throw themselves at him, flirting with him sort of like how those bitches did a couple of months ago, only this time he actually didn't look uncomfortable. He had the same idea as me and now his group were putting up barriers.
"Now that we're done you are each going to make sure you can handle the pressure" I said "One at a time you are going to stand in front of that steel wall whilst everyone throws biotic balls at you, the one that lasts the longest gets the bra I'm wearing" all of a sudden I saw this determination that was lacking before and they looked like men on a mission.
"I'll go first" this small Asian human kid declared he couldn't have been any older than 13. He charged up his barrier, looked pretty impressive for his age.
"LET IT RIP" I yelled and the pain rained down on the kid. These guys were throwing massive blows at the kid and to his credit he lasted about a minute but in the end his barrier gave out, violently if I might add.
"Stop!" they stopped immediately. I don't think I'll ever get used to people listening to what I order or giving them out without a threat.
I walked over to the kid and bent down to the ground where he lay in pain. "Ya did good kid" I congratulated
"Thanks…." He appreciated "Good enough to get your bra" I got up and began walking away without an answer "Can I at least see it" he called out. I hate teenagers. A bit ironic because I am one.
"OK NEXT!" the next few students got the same treatment. Wow these guys are stupid, I did this to test two things. One how long they could last. And two if their smart enough to not do what their doing at least all of the time. They are putting near full power into these balls and shorting themselves out. Meaning they couldn't keep it up long enough to get all the way around and their own barriers would be too weak to outlast anyone else's. Their stamina's pathetic. I guess that's how they think when they have titties on their mind. So far the longest s a guy lasted was 2 minutes
"Last one" this last guy didn't look all that tired so he must have been at least smart enough not to wear himself out and he looked like he was my age maybe a little older. "Since these dumbasses wore themselves out I'll help" I smiled
I have to hand it to him he was the smartest out of all of us, the objective was to outlast everyone. I never said that they have to sit there and take blows. He was dodging the attacks we sent him, I couldn't go all out without probably killing him so I had to hold back a lot. After 4 minutes his barrier gave out.
"We have a winner" I announced pointing to the sweaty black human. I could see a lecherous smile forming as he started eying up my chest.
"I believe you've got my property" he declared
"The fuck you talking about" I retorted
"Don't play games with me, I was promised your bra"
"I said I'd give you the bra I was wearing" this piqued their interest "I ain't wearin' one" it looked like they were brain dead when I announced I wasn't wearing a bra, probably fantasizing right now about my chest, too bad they'd be disappointed by the real thing.
I got bored with these guys so I told them they could rest. I flew over to wear Nate was training the girls. They looked like they were trying to see how long they could last on the ledge and they were facing each other. 4 of the girls were on the ground holding whatever hurt, bitching about how it wasn't fair. Some were like 12 some were 15.
"Too late to enter bitch so fuck off" I heard from behind me. I recognised the girl from school, it was Paige from our Biotics class. I guess she doesn't pay me much mind since she shithead doesn't even recognize me. But the thought of this bitch calling me bitch drove me crazy, well more than usual.
I jumped onto the ledge "What did you call me" I shouted
"You heard! Or are you deaf too. BITCH" she reiterated. That was all of the provocation I needed. I fired off a mild shockwave that knocked her along with every other girl off the ledge and that made me the last woman standing.
Someone started clapping and I don't know who "We have a winner" Nate jumped onto the ledge and stood with me side by side
"No fair" Paige bitched "She wasn't even there from the beginning"
"She would have won from the beginning" he reassured "Hell she's probably better than me" he admitted
"Damn straight I am"
"Wait a minute she's an instructor. She can't win" she complained
"Yeah she can" Nate said
"What the fuck did I win?" I asked genuinely confused, all I know is that she wants it so I'm gonna take it
"You have won the greatest night of your life" he bragged "You have won a date with me". What…. What….. WHAT! I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks, something which only seemed to happen whenever this bastard was involved
"I… I…. I've won…. What!?"
"You and I are gonna go on a date. How does that sound" he stated. I could see the faint scarlet shade of my cheeks from my reflection in the metal wall
Before I could respond Kahlee walked over to us "Jack, Nathan can you come with me for a minute" she ushered the two of us out of the room. "I have conducted interviews with your groups and they loved you, particularly the younger members which is perfect" she said in one breath "We need some people to tutor the really young biotics, the ones aged between 5 and 10"
"What, why are we gonna work with kids" Nate asked
"Kids that young idolize teenagers so they will grasp at your every word and cherish it. It also means that the two of will have to deal with toddlers. Can you handle that?"
"What will we be teaching them" I asked, it's bad enough I'm stuck with a snot nosed brat at home but now I'm gonna be with them in my free time
"You'll teach them fundamental biotic control and responsible use of biotics" she stated "Oh yeah and you start right now"
"What?" Nate said in surprise "Now way, I'm not doing this" he asserted as he walked away
"You'll be paid 20 credits an hour for 3 hours" Kahlee announced.
I have never seen a human being move that fast but he was already shaking her hand when I blinked "Where do I sign". He signed the hollow as did I "The little bastards await"
The area we went to looked a lot like a primary school. It had a playground with monkey bars, swings and roundabouts. In it awaited roughly 20 students none older than 10 years old. They looked at us with fear and curiosity. Rila and Falere were in here as well so we couldn't fuck up that badly.
"Kids, these two are called Jack and Nathan and they are your new teachers" Rila announced patronizingly
"Hi Jack and Nathan" they said in a group
"Today you get to choose which of them you want as your teacher so everyone who wants to work with Jack go over to her and with Nathan go over to him" she announced. They silently got up and started to come over to us. All of them walked over to Nathan and he was once again swarmed, all of these little girls had a 'crush' on him too judging by the fact they can't look him in the eye and their blushes when he smiled. Man what is it about this guy that makes people gravitate towards him.
And then there was me standing alone waiting for a kid to choose me. I….didn't care…. all of them can fuck off for all I care. Their just a bunch of kids that don't want to be around someone that scares them or creeps them out. They can't handle me and no one can, this is what it's gonna be like for the rest of my life and that's what his life is gonna be like.
You see no one will ever love you or choose you over anything. You and Nate are nothing alike, you aren't in the same league or the same world. Why would he ever want be broken toy like you, he can't fix you and no one will ever want you!
Whilst that voice was rambling on about how useless I was I failed to notice that there was a kid staring at me head near my chest. She started tugging at my tattoos seemingly entranced by them.
When she caught on that I was looking at her she backed up a little. I shot her a menacing look and she stumbled back.
What kind of pathetic bitch gets her kicks from scaring kids? You're no different from Cerberus.
No I am different. I ain't like any of those Cerberus assholes. I am nothing like them and I know it, I don't give a shit what that voice says.
The kid approached me again only this time she was fearless. She started hugging me, from the outside looking in it looks like a child hugging a tiger, so innocent but also so naïve. She looked up to me and flashed me a disarming smile. At that second any and all barriers I had set up to protect the child from myself crumbled and my heart tightened.
"What's your name kid" I asked trying my best to get the viciousness back into my voice.
"Jade Rodriguez" she answered "What's your name" she asked her big brown eyes sparkling eyes.
"Jack"
"Hi Miss Jackie"
"No kid. I said Jack not Miss Jackie"
"But I like Miss Jackie" she answered innocently with this childishly puzzled look
"But I like Jack"
"Miss Jackie sounds so much cooler" she responded. I realised that I wouldn't change her mind without hurting her so I resigned to being called Miss Jackie
"Fine, call me whatever you want" I sighed
Kahlee had informed me and Nate that we were teaching these kids just to use their biotics without hurting themselves. I don't even know why I'm here. I don't even know why I'm here. I don't know anything about children or even teaching. Why couldn't the cheerleader do this instead?
At this moment I still only had one student and that was Jade. She looked at me with something I had never before seen, well at least not directed at me. It was a look of absolute admiration and respect. She looked at me as if I was the answer to all of her problems, like I was one of the best things in her life.
Don't make me laugh. Do you honestly think that she admires you? Just how arrogant are you to believe that anyone would ever look up to you. You have nothing to be proud of, and nothing to be admired. It's always the reality check.
She tugged my bottoms "What am I meant to do?" she asked
"Do you know how to use your biotics. Like you know consciously" I asked and she shook her head. Ok how do I explain this to a kid? I can't use anything too technical. And on my second day Kahlee told me to cut down on my swearing, and she'd probably lose her shit if I did it in front of kids.
"You've got to use your emotions. When you get emotional you use your biotics without realising it, well at first. So you need to get angry" I instructed.
She started scrunching her face and made a face which she probably thought was angry but looked constipated. I couldn't help but chuckle and shake my head. This kid isn't an angry one so anger wasn't gonna work.
"Hey kid, come over here" she complied and stood in front of me. I knelt down to face level and tried to figure out what kind of kid this was. But I just couldn't, all I could see was her big shit eating grin. I couldn't see any sadness or anger in her eyes. What the hell am I meant to do with this kid?
That was when it hit me. This is a happy kid. I had never before in my life met a truly happy kid or person. And yet here she stands before me, my opposite in every single way. A bright future, parents, innocence.
"OK kid it's pretty damn clear that anger is not you thing" I stated and she started giggling like a child. "So instead think of something or anything that makes you feel something strong"
She nodded and she started concentrating. In a few seconds a feint blue aura started to formulate and it became stronger as time progressed.
"Ow...Ow…ow" she complained
"Whoa stop" I ordered and she did. "If you're not careful you can actually break you limbs by trying to use your biotics. Now I assume you can use them at will?" and she nodded "Good now do it again" I ordered but this time she refused
She was scared. I'm pretty sure she almost broke something when she tried the last time and she doesn't want that to happen.
She should just get over it. A little pain never killed anybody. Keep pushing her. Think about your legacy Jennifer. You could be responsible for creating the Ultimate Biotic.
No way. That's what Cerberus did to me and look how I turned out. She could turn out to be a second me, and the galaxy couldn't handle two of me. And more importantly she doesn't deserve that, no one does.
"Listen kid, I'm not gonna force you to use them but if you don't master them now, then when your older you'll be breaking your limbs all of the time. So a little pain now, then no more pain forever" I said as softly as I could so I wouldn't scare her and she offered me a grin.
"I never knew you cared Jack" Nate said sarcastically. I turned around to see a smug smile on his face.
"I don't. I just don't want the kid crying all the time" I dismissed
"Why is it you don't want people seeing that you're a good person" he whispered so Jade couldn't hear. But instead of answering I just turned my back to him. I'm not a good person. I am the furthest thing from it.
I spent the rest of the class teaching Jade about how to use her biotics without hurting herself, she had a lot more reserves than I thought but she couldn't do it. No matter how she tried she always ended up feeling pain. However I like how she kept on going through the pain. Watching her gave me this warm feeling, I liked it.
When class was over their parents had arrived to take the kids home. Jade had spotted hers and ran up to the both of them cheering. Her dad lifted her into the air spinning around while she laughed. And her mum planted a kiss on her forehead. I couldn't help but feel envious of her. I know it's pathetic being jealous of a child but it was beyond my control. She has a loving family that cares for her, whereas I never got to meet mine or at least I don't remember who they were, I don't know which is worse.
She slid down her dad's body and ran up to me almost tripping over. She gave me a tight hug "Thank You Miss Jackie!" she appreciated. Her eyes were shut and a smile was on her face. I didn't know what to do at that point. Do I hug her back? Do I push her away? Do I run? What do I do? I looked at her parents who were looking at me worriedly. Can't say I blame them, I wouldn't be happy if I saw my kid hugging some tattooed freak. She waved me goodbye as she ran back over to her parents.
I saw that Nate was waiting for me at the door fiddling with his omni-tool he looked up at me and offered a smile.
"Hey. Miranda and Kaidan have already left so it's just you and me"
"OK so why are you waiting around for. Move your ass"
"Yes Ma'am" he responded and I punched him in the arm

Nate POV
I don't know why she insists on hiding her good qualities. I saw how she interacted with that kid. It looked like she was enjoying teaching Jade. I could see the pride in her eyes when that kid got knocked down and kept on getting back up, hell even I was impressed I wouldn't expect that sort of attitude from someone who couldn't have been any older than 7. Jack obviously cares about this girl even though she's only met her once and she tries to convince me she isn't a good person. I can tell a good person when I see one but that's mainly because they're so rare and for some reason they tend to gravitate towards me. Liara, Kaidan, Rylee, Garrus, Tali, James, Miranda, Jacob, Thane…. Ashley.
"Hey" Jack said getting my attention "You can come over right now" she sort of asked. I didn't have anything better to do considering Garrus is probably getting a head start on looking for psychologist so he probably couldn't let me. And everyone else lives too far away for me to make the effort. So why not
"Lead the way".
I got a little curious as to why she'd ask me to go to her house out of the blue "So…. What's with the sudden invite?"
"Do I need a reason?"
"Yeah but it's always been Miranda who's invited me. You've always made the effort to make sure I couldn't be at you house"
She stayed silent for a bit "Shut up" she said childishly
"OK what's the real reason?"
She sighed and then said "You owe me a date". I cocked my eyebrow in surprise. I was just kidding. I never thought she's actually cash in on it. I don't mind, she is one of my friends.
"Really"
"Yeah. Now shut up and follow me"
"You're so romantic you know that" I said sarcastically and she flipped me the bird. I started laughing at her reaction, I knew teasing her wouldn't end well for me so I decided to shut up but I could swear there was a ghost of a smile on her face. Was she enjoying this?
I walked with her side by side until we reached her place. I didn't know what to expect considering the spontaneity of the invite but I knew I wouldn't get bored. Jack has this way of always keeping me on my toes. When we arrived Jack went upstairs and I was once again alone downstairs.
"NAAATE" Oriana cheered as she ran up to me.
"Hey Ori how's it goin"
"Great!" she said "Jack took me to the arcade yesterday. And I beat her at Shattered Eezo" she whispered.
"Wow. You must be really good"
"I'm the best" she said doing a muscle flexing pose
"You should meet my little sister Rylee. She'd love you"
"Really! Can you bring her next time" she said excitedly. Just as I was about to answer Jack made her way downstairs, wearing the same thing as when she got back.
"Jack can Rylee come next time please, please, please, please!" she begged. Rylee would adore this kid
"Scram kid"
"You're mean" Ori pouted "Your just mad because I beat you yesterday" she said whilst she ran upstairs
Jack shook her head "That kid will drive me up a wall" she groaned
"Did a 7 year old really beat you at Shattered Eezo"
"She's better than she looks" she defended. I started chuckling
Next thing I knew I was laying on the sofa with Jack on top of me. Her blood red lips covered mine, hungrily kissing me, her tongue aggressively invaded my mouth and ravenously licked over my teeth. She moved her hips seductively over my groin before her hand roamed over my stiffening groin. And that was when I realised just how real this moment was and just what was happening. I pushed her off of me so that I could get my breath back.
"What the hell are you doing?" I demanded
"That's what you wanted right sex"
"Where the fuck did you get that idea"
"You're the one that kept on asking those fucking questions" she accused "All you had to do was ask, you didn't have to pretend to care"
