The Truth about Laura

It turns out that we're not disappearing, but blasting off. I scream as we shoot up into the sky and through the portal. Then I gasp as we whiz past planets and stars, all incredibly beautiful. I used to dream of becoming an astronaut as a kid, and am amazed to actually be in outer space.

Unfortunately, the trip is over in a matter of seconds. Actually, make that fortunately, since I just remembered there's no air in space.

Anyways, while my feet are once again on solid ground, my mouth remains gasping at all the wonders surrounding me. For starters, we are in a golden, circular room with some sort of high-tech thingie that is spinning around to close the portal. Then, as if that wasn't impressive enough, THERE'S PEOPLE WALKING ON A FREEKIN' RAINBOW!

It is towards this rainbow that Loki drags me before we are stopped by some guy wearing golden armor. "LOKI! HOW DARE YOU—MMPH!" he yells, before falling silent as Loki freezes him into a block of ice.

As Loki does so, I catch another glimpse of his blue skin before it fades back into paleness. During the battle, I was so concentrated on fighting that I didn't have time to think about it, but now that Loki seems more concerned with dragging me across this really long rainbow bridge than killing me, I find that I can think about nothing else. While I enjoyed teasing him about looking like a Smurf, the truth is, it bothers me that we both have blue skin sometimes. And now that I think about it, it's not just the skin. His hair is black and straight just like mine, and even his smirk looks a bit like mine when I'm planning to prank someone with Liz and Emma.

Liz and Emma. My eyes water as I remember my friends from my old school in Ohio. We used to have so much fun together. We were even going to help the seniors with their senior year prank. That is, until I had to move. I didn't want to go. My mom didn't either though, which was weird. She used to live in New York, but for some reason, she left. Something about the attack… the attack by Loki….

Suddenly, I didn't like where my thoughts were going. "WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU TAKING ME?!" I yell, hoping whatever Loki says will distract me from my thoughts.

Loki glares at me. "You will show respect for Asgard."

"This is Asgard?" I ask, my voice now one of wonder. Looking around, I realize that the castle in front of us does look pretty cool. Then I frown. "Wait, isn't this where you went to prison after you attacked my planet? You're not seriously just going back to prison, are you?"

Loki raises an eyebrow. "Do you think me stupid? Of course not! Asgard is more than just my prison location, it is my home… or it was, once." Loki grins evilly. "And it will be again, once I am ruler of this planet!"

Inwardly, I groan. You'd think Loki would learn his lesson after failing to conquer a world before, but apparently not. "That's great and all, but what did you bring me here?"

Loki laughs. "I fear you have misunderstood me. I do not intend to take over Asgard now. No, that would require an army and much planning. I am simply showing you what you have to look forward to."

"What I have to look forward to?!" I repeat incredulously. "If you think I'm going to help you take over Asgard, you're totally wrong! I mean, it's not even my planet or anything!"

"Maybe it is," Loki says softly.

"WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN?!" I yell, pretending that he's not making sense, but secretly fearing that he is.

"Who is your mother?" Loki asks, his voice surprisingly gentle.

I swallow. "Um, L-Lilly Lakes." Crap! I was finally starting to sound brave, so of course I have to mess it all up by stuttering. Also, why am I even telling him this? Unless…

A wave of emotion washes over Loki's face for a fraction of a second, before it is once again replaced by Loki's mask of indifference. "I thought so."

"And that means?" I whisper, the words sticking in my throat.

Loki smiles. "That I am your father."

AN: So here is the (not so big) reveal, as I know some of you saw this coming.

Anyways, sorry for not posting for a while. I had midterms last week, but no excuse for the week before. Anyways, I have Spring Break this week, so hopefully I can get more chapters in before the end of the week. Now, for reviews…

live life: Thanks :) The first half of chapter 8 was unfortunately similar to something that happened to me. My very first football game freshman year our band was filmed by a local news station, and I messed up the Star Spangled Banner! :( Just in general though, some of the more normal high school things (like people's conversations) are similar to things I actually experienced in high school, while the more superhero things (like fighting Red Skull in the hallway) are just things that I thought sounded awesome. I'm not really sure how to explain it better than that, sorry :( Also, the character's personalities are somewhat based on people I know, but not entirely, and their powers are pretty much the same as the Avengers' and Loki's.

Purple Pixie5: Liberty (Liberty) is Captain America and Black Widow's daughter, Sam (Shocker) is Thor and Jane's son, Joe (G Wiz) is Hawkeye and someone's son, Anne (no superhero name yet) is Bruce Banner and someone's daughter, and just this chapter, it is revealed that Laura is Loki and Lilly (her normal human mom)'s daughter. As for Noah, I was originally going to have him be Iron Man's son, but decided instead that he is the son of two non-Avenger parents who just happens to be a computer genius. Noah is also the "Iron Teen", as Laura calls him.

Hope that helps :)
