Strange Help of the Fosters

Chapter 10

At the precinct Stef and Mike were finishing filing the last of their reports before heading home for the night. Captain Roberts walks in calling Mike and Stef to her office.

"Take a seat," She tells them as they both obeyed sitting on the opposite of Captain Roberts' desk, "I asked you here place you on a special case if you want to accept it."

"Sure what's the case about?" Mike asked.

"It's been a calling of domestic abuse from a Foster home, but every time we get a call everything turns out to be a false alert," She explains pulling out case files, "but why I asked you two is the connection of Callie…"

"Ma'am what do you mean?" Stef asked her captain, "She's not in any danger and she's living with us!"

"Calm down Foster I'm talking about one of the girls she knows," Roberts gives her another case folder as Stef opens it, "You know Kiara she hangs out with Callie correct?"

"Yeah Callie told me she got a new foster home and that they might want to adopt her I think," Stef replied flipping through the paperwork, "Are you saying that she's in danger?"

"She might be and since she's friend with Callie it's only a matter of time that she will go to Callie, but I want this done by the book we need actually proof before we can make a move and of course the foster care system isn't all that great. I came to you two to handle the case you think you can handle it without getting into trouble?"

"Well I don't think it'll be too hard right Stef?" Mike jokes with her.

"Yeah, but with our kids it just might be," Stef reminded him, "Thank you Captain Roberts we'll take the case I'll talk to Callie about this to see what she's knows and I'll get back to you."

Stef and Mike dismiss themselves as they walk over to Stef's officer as Stef places the case files on her desk she rubs the top of forehead in frustration.

"Hey it's nothing to worry about it's just domestic abuse case just like any others," Mike tells her, "We'll talk to Callie and she what she's knows and then we'll investigate it'll be simple."

"Yeah, but Callie's going through so much right now I don't if this the best time to talk to her about Kiara right now with the Quinns it a lot to put a teenager through."

"I'm sure you and Lena will figure something out you always do."

Heading home to the Fosters Callie spent the afternoon with Wyatt thinking about her decision and her fears. Wyatt finally pulled up to the side of the curb where the Foster's home stood.

"We're hear Callie," Wyatt tells her, but Callie didn't replied she was in her own head with her thoughts, "Callie your home." He taps her shoulder snapping her out of her thoughts.

"Oh thanks Wyatt," She tells him, "I'll call you later okay?" She leans over and kisses him on his cheek and quickly gets out of the car.

Callie ran up the few stairs before pulling out of her keys she opened the door and enter the house. When she entered she saw everyone sitting in the living room excluding Stef and Lena Callie looks at them all strangely trying to figure out what's going on.

"He…heyyy, what's going on here?" Callie asked them.

"Oh we're waiting for Mom to come home Brandon has some good news Mama wants us to all to be here we're supposed to be celebrating!" Mariana tells him.

"Really what's the good news?" Callie asked Brandon as he got to tell her the good news.

"I got a call from Young Youth Orchestra Chorus they want me to join them and perform with them," He tells her as she hugs him.

"Oh my god Brandon that's wonderful news!" Callie told him, "When did they call you?"

"Today I wanted to tell you, but I couldn't find you," Brandon responded.

Callie gaze away from him, feeling guilty for now being around to hear the good news first before anyone else, "Oh yeah I was talking to Wyatt about seeing Sophia. Brandon I'm glad you got some good news this is so amazing!"

"Yeah bro you might have your dream after all!" Jesus gives him a embraced congrats, "Well I don't about you two, but I'm hungry and Mom need to hurry up and come home!"

"She's turning in now," Lena tells him as she places some earring dangles on wearing a blue wrap dress, "Callie go upstairs and put on something nice okay honey?"

Callie nods and goes upstairs to put something nice on as Stef walks in.

"Hello my babies..." Stef greets her family as she places her bag down next to the coat racket, "…And hello you!" As Lena walks over to her and gives her a kiss, "What's going on here?"

"We're going out to celebrate the good news!" Lena flirts with Stef.

"What are we celebrating?" Stef asked.

"Brandon got a invite to play with Young Youth Orchestra Chorus," Mariana tells her, "And Mama wants us to go out and celebrate!"

After hearing this Stef turns to her wife and give her the look, "Oh really?"

"Yeah I was going to call you, but Mama thought it was a good idea to surprise you with the news instead," Brandon tells her.

She hugs her son, "Oh B that's good news I'm so happy for you see I told you it could happen for you if just keep believing in yourself. Lena, could I see upstairs please?"

"Okay," Lena follows her wife upstairs to their room. Stef closed the door behind them, "I know your upset that I sprung this up on you, but come on its for Brandon this is good news!"

"Love I understand that, but right now we don't have the extra money to be spending on this," Stef tells her as she unbutton her uniform, "I mean with all the extra shifts I'm taking to support the family…it just seem like going out it a luxury we don't have time for."

"I know that money's tight and all, but this is a big opportunity for Brandon and we should celebrate and it might take our minds off of everything for now."

"Honey I know you mean well, but with you up and leaving your job without talking to me puts me in a tough spot," Stef rambled through her closet to see which outfit to put on, she picked up an all-black formal shirt and black pants with her black boot heels and over the wrap black and gray scarf.

"What I did was to protect Jude!" Lena reminded Stef.

"Yes, but at the same time you jumped to conclusion when it came to Jude because something did happen between him and Connor. And instead of coming to me to handle Connor's father you confront him and then quit your job that doesn't make sense Lena. Don't you see by protect one you hurt the rest of us."

"But we don't know what Jude and Connor did, but still his father is clearly abusing him and what could I do Stef? Tell Connor and Jude that they couldn't share the same tent even if I did that what would've stopped them from seeing each other I can't watch them 24/7 to make sure they don't be together!"

"Lena you just have to think before acting that's all I'm saying love," Stef continued fixing herself inside of their bathroom, "I love the kids and I would do anything for them, but quitting my job wouldn't have been the answer to the solution,"

"Okay next time I'll ask your permission, but for right now let's job this conversation and have a nice evening with the kids?" Lena tells her as she opens the door sees a caught off guard Jude walking out of his room he quickly jolted downstairs before Lena had a chance to say anything. She hoped that Jude didn't hear their conversation like last time.

Lena went downstairs where all the kids were waiting for Stef took come down so they can leave.

"Mama, Mom not taking forever is she I mean I'm getting kind of hungry and I would love to be there before I turn to ashes," Jesus joked to Lena.

"No Jesus she's almost done getting ready and please you will not die for waiting a few more minutes you have to wait when we get to restaurant anyway," Lena tells him as he sulked on the couch.

Few minutes later Stef came downstairs and off the Fosters went to dinner joking and talking along the way there. Finally the Fosters arrived at the restaurant where they all enjoy themselves even Callie she felt like she was part of the family there was no doubt in her mind where she belonged this the family she hoped for and wanted.

At the hospital Sophia was doing much better they still kept her overnight to make sure everything was alright. Her doctor told her that tomorrow she would be released which was a relief because she couldn't stand being in the hospital this long. She thought about Callie and wondering would she forgive her for what she's done since the last time it wasn't on good terms, but she did reach out to her sister, but Callie didn't really want to talk to her and she really couldn't blame her. She just wanted Callie and her to be a family for her to have a sister was an dream come true, but now the dream might be shattered by her selfish act.

Jill walked in with some food for her and her daughter, "Hey there I see you're looking much better can you believe it tomorrow you'll be able to go home tomorrow?"

"Yeah it's excited I know what I'm going to do when I get home tomorrow!" Sophia tells her mom as her mother raise an eyebrow.

"And what would that might be?" Jill asked.

"I'm going to go and see Callie I need to make everything right between us!" Sophia smiled telling her mother, but Jill face didn't show the same enthusiastic like her daughter was, "What you think it's a bad idea don't you?"

"Of course sweetheart," Jill tells her, "I mean we all been through so much and I don't know if we should add more stress to everything by talking to Callie."

"No mother, I need to talk to her especially since she might be living with us!" Sophia replied as Jill just sighed in defeat.

After the dinner the Fosters headed back home where everyone all settles down. Mariana goes upstairs to paint her nails a new color for tomorrow. Jesus headed to his and Jude's shared room to chill and listen to some music. Jude went to the living room and turned on the X-Box One to play Callie headed upstairs grabbing her guitar and head to the back porch to play. Stef and Lena went to their room to continue to talk. Brandon soon headed to the back porch where Callie settle in to a song she strumming together. Brandon goes outside to talk to her about the offer.

"Hey there he is it's the man of the hour!" Callie said as Brandon retorted with a fake laugh, "Come on your not happy about this?"

"I don't know Callie it's something alright, but I don't know if I should take it," Brandon tells her as she puts her guitar down.

"What do you mean you don't know if you're going to take it?" She rhetorically asked him, "Don't answer you're going to take this opportunity remember we promised that we wouldn't give up on each other dreams!"

Brandon goes over to where she was sitting and sits next to her, "But…your dream didn't come true and I want that dream to come true for you," Brandon moves closer to her.

"I know Brandon, but you have a dream too and I think this might be a real shot," She tells him, "Don't worry about me your dream is almost within your reach don't let me be the reason why you don't take this opportunity."

Nothing was left to say at the moment they kissed. Lips interlocked the passion between them erupted as if it never died both felt a fire that light them from the inside, but Brandon pulls away.

"No we can't do this!" He gets up from her, "I'm sorry I slept with Dani!" Callie was shocked by this confession that Brandon told her, "I'm sorry I never told you, but I was ashamed I was drunk and…"

Callie got up and places her hand on his shoulder, "Brandon she raped you. There's nothing to be sorry about it's not your fault did you tell Stef and Lena?"

"Yeah she's in jail, but still I slept her because of…you!" He tells her, "Don't you see Callie I love you and you love me, but we can't be even if you never get adopted by us we're your family and that will never change Jude is both of ours brother by law so we can't do this not again."

"It's okay Brandon I love you too. It's not easy for me either we'll have to deal with this, but I do want to be part of this family and I will find a way to do that, but after the incident with Sophia I'm scared I'm scared of losing you guys that was my fear I can't lose anymore people not anymore."

"So what do we do?" Brandon asked her as she shrugged with an Idk look, "We all don't get to be with our true love. Will the feelings ever stop?"

"I don't know, but we did it before we can do it again I think that means we have to tell Lou and Wyatt what we did," Callie tells him.

"Yeah…I know," Brandon sighed.

Mariana came out of her room to go downstairs when she saw Jesus sitting at his computer face chatting with Ana.

"Are you freaking serious Jesus?!" Mariana exclaimed as a shocked Jesus tries to explain everything to Mariana, "Really you're talking to her behind my back you know she's no good for us stop feeling sorry for her!"

"Mariana…wait if you let me explain I have to tell you…" Ana tried to explain, but she didn't want to hear anything.

"You have nothing to say to me not after you abandon us!"

"Mariana she was…rape!" Jesus tells her as Mariana stopped her angry subsided for minute when she heard what Jesus told her, "She was raped…"

"Wait are you saying we're a product of rape?" Mariana asked Jesus didn't want to say the answer, but it was the truth, "My god we're a product of rape that's why you're messed up?"

"I'm sorry to the both of you," Ana apologize to them. Mariana couldn't handle what she heard she ran out of the room as Jesus apologize and hangs up the face chat to talk to her.

Jesus walks in her room as closes the door behind her. Mariana was turned to the wall she didn't see Jesus, he sits next to her and rubs her back. He could tell that Mariana was an emotionally wreck, but she needed to know it was something that Ana felt guilty about.

"Go away," She tells him.

"Now you know I'm going anywhere," Jesus tells her as she turns around to him, "Look I know you didn't want to hear that, but you needed to there's a lot more we don't know about her."

"We already have moms Ana didn't want us and it's not fair that she trying to make a amends for it!"

"I know that I love our moms too, but we owe her a reason to understand why it's not as black and white as we made it seems if you really think about it."

"Jesus all that prove to me was that we were a rejection of her pain that she didn't want us from the start we were a constant reminder of the person who raped her!"

"Yeah, but Mariana don't think we should hear the whole story if she changed this much maybe she could tell us how she fell to drugs there's a reason we just need to know."

"No you! I don't have to know anything I heard enough now get out of my room!"

Jesus gets up giving up on reasoning with his sister for the time being, "Okay you win, but one day you're going to want to know beside you owe me and I think it's time for you to pay up."

"I don't owe you anything!"

"Yeah you do, but right now I'm not going to argue with you your upset and angry and you need time to think, but before I leave just know if you keep this up you're going to push me away as well."

Jude was still playing his game when Stef came downstairs she walks over to him and sit next to him.

"Hey bud can we talk?" Stef asked him, "How are you love?"

"Um…yeah I'm good," Jude tells her cautiously. He could tell that she wanted to ask him about everything that happened from the past couple of weeks, but he really didn't want to share anything it felt like it was a waste of time.

"So…bud is everything okay with you?" Stef asked as she kneels next to him, "Tell what's going on in your head. Are affected by Sophia's relationship with Callie?"

"I don't know maybe, I mean I'm happy that she was able to reconnect with long lost part of her family, but I'll always be half I'll never be her full brother and it scares me…" Jude explains as Stef pulls him into her arms.

"Oh sweetheart Callie loves you she will always love you, nothing's change just because Sophia entered the pictures that doesn't mean you aren't her brother fully."

"I don't know it makes me wonder…what if I was Sophia would I have done what she did to get Callie to accept her to part of their family. I mean I can't be mad at her because if I was in her position I would do anything to be with Callie nothing could stop me even sabotaging her being adopted."

"Oh love Callie knows you love her and that you are her brother that will never change I think she's freaking out over the fact that Sophia almost took her life over what she said. Callie feels that sometimes she not worth all the trouble, but we have to make sure that she is important to us and we won't give up on her we will fight this understand," Stef reassured Jude as she hugs him.

"I'm sorry…" Jude tells her as Stef gives him a confuse look, "I mean about Connor. The last thing that I wanted was for Mama to quit her job for the sake of me. I know its stressing you out and that it's causing problems between you and Mama, but don't break up because of me if anything I can leave and you guys won't have to worry about me and Connor anymore."

"Oh no honey never you're our son just like Callie's our daughter you know how much you kids bring us so much joy and love, beside it's your job to cause me and Mama problems its comes with the territory of being a parent. Never think that me and Lena will give up on any of you understand that?" Jude nods giving her a smile, "Now go upstairs and get ready for bed it's still a school night."

As Jude goes upstairs he walks in on Jesus changing his shirt when he notices the tattoo. Jesus tries to play it off, but it was causing him some discomfort, "Jude?!"

"You got a tattoo of Hayley on your side why?" Jude asked him.

"I was trying to prove her that I was trying to be a good boyfriend so…"

"You got a tattoo…of her name? Jesus that tattoo doesn't look so good you have to tell Moms about it before the worst good happen."

"No you can't tell them they'll kill me!"

"Yeah, but it seem like the tattoo can make a infection by the looks of it that's exactly what it's doing right now."

"Come on please don't tell!"

"I won't but maybe we go and see a doctor Brandon could take you because you have to make sure you're not infected needles could be a dangerous thing you know what I mean?"

"Yeah tomorrow just me you and Brandon no one else, got it?"

"Okay fine tomorrow…" Jude heads to his dresser to change into his night clothes.

Brandon and Callie came back in from the back porch where Stef was sitting down drinking hot tea, Callie can I talk to you please?" Brandon goes upstairs as Callie sits down with Stef, "Listen Calls, I didn't want to tell you this, but eventually it would've came out." She a quick sip before continuing as Callie looks on nervously about what Stef was going to tell her, "Your friend Kiara from Girls United she might be in trouble and I know she's going to call you I need to know everything understand."

"Wait is everything alright with her?"

"I don't know, Captain Robert assigned me and Mike to this case and we have to do this by the books, but for right now don't worry we'll help as much as we can to get her out of the home, but for now we need play low because without any proof we can't do much you know the system is flawed but me and Mike could use your help."

"Sure I'll help anyway as possible," Callie tells her, "But I do want to tell you something as well."

"Okay what is it love?"

"I've decided to see Sophia. I think we need to talk about all of this and eventually me being part of this family I won't give on my dream of having you guys as my family."

"That's wonderful and you know we'll be right here by your side."

"I know…" Callie hugs Stef and quickly go to her room.

Alone downstairs Stef pulls out her phone and calls a number, "Yeah its me…no no she's fine, but I need you come by and pay a visit. I know…yes it'll help if you can talk to them…yes, don't worry I'll handle her…okay then it's settle, good-bye." With that Stef hangs up her phone and continues to drink her hot tea reflecting on the events of the day.
