A/N: Hello my minions! Happy belated Thanksgiving to my readers from the U.S. And happy Saturday to my readers from other countries! The authors note is going to be short today, but I do have something to say. REVIEWER ANSWERS!
To Nobody who wrote, " Okay... So you think Riordan should change who Nico is to fit the standards of fangirls worldwide? Does anyone stop to think that maybe there are teens and kids looking up to Nico BECAUSE of "House of Hades?" He's NOT getting a girlfriend, and it would be horrible if he did because it would teach kids that they have to conform to social "norms" to be accepted."
My answer to this is No. I honestly think that what Riordan writes is what he wants to write. I just think that the whole Nico thing didn't really fit. To quote one of my favorite youtubers, Cassjaytuck, Rick Riordan makes very few mistakes, but I think this is one. I understand that a lot of kids and teens could be looking up to Nico because of his sexuality, but it didn't really flow with his character development. He has been described as creepy and angry at everything, to have him act out of love for anyone seems strange. I am a Christian and I know some people see us as close minded ignorant people that like to hate on anyone or anything they think is not morally right. I think that being gay sometimes isn't a choice and that some people can't help it. However I still think that it goes against my PERSONAL morals. I will not try to force my beliefs on anyone or hate you just because of your sexuality. This however is a story. On fanfiction. People write things on here that are so different from the books it's insane! They ship everything from Athena/Poseidon to Percy/Artemis/Hades most of the stuff on here isn't canon or like the books. I promise you, if you look around for a while you will find stories that are showing the characters in such ways that if you changed their names they would be completely different people! They are extremely out of character and usually alternate universe stories where they're just regular mortals. I try to stay as close to the books description of the characters as possible and except for a few, I'm pretty pleased with how I do it. I appreciate you sharing your opinion and for being so polite in your review. It was well written and you conveyed your message wonderfully! I would generally PM you my response to these types of reviews, but because you reviewed anonymously I am unable to. Thank you for reviewing and sharing your opinion! I will always try to be polite when responding, so you and anyone else have nothing to fear, therefore you have no reason not to use your account to post reviews on my stories! Have a nice day!
Now on to the story!
Aislin'a POV.
I was ok with Annabella dating Jacob. It still seemed rather odd to me, but if she was happy and he didn't hurt her, I was fine with him. He unfortunately did not extend the same courtesy to me. He still disliked me with a passion, but at least he stopped trying to kill me.
I had been at camp for almost a month when I noticed that gradually people started staring at and whispering about me more that usual. Normally people didn't pay much attention to me, except the Aphrodite girls. Tiffany had told me that they were disgusted with my hair, my clothes, and honestly me in general, and were just waiting for a chance to "kidnap" me and give me a makeover. I made sure to steer clear of them after that revelation. Anyway, so lots of people were staring at me and I had no idea why. Like I have said before, I am VERY shy so this unexpected attention was unnerving and really bothered me. I had free time after I had foot racing (which I was actually decent at. I could run fast for short distances and I had had a lot of practice at my farm. I was the gopher and spent my summer running all over the farm to deliver this and fetch that.) so I went to interrogate Bells to see if she had any idea why.
I finally got to the Zeus cabin and knocked on the door. I was desperately hoping she was there so I wouldn't have to go traipsing through camp to find her. Thankfully she was and I was warmly welcomed into the cabin. It was MUCH bigger that the Hermes cabin where I stayed, but instead of being cheerfully organized (not really) chaos like the Hermes cabin, it just looked lonely, and way WAY to neat. You see Annabella is OCD instead of being ADD or ADHD like the rest of us. She's such a neat freak that she came into the Hephaestus cabin for inspection and ended up cleaning and organizing it for them! "sooo, vas happenin'?" She said after a few minutes of chatting, she was playing on my hatred of one direction. I grimaced at her then grinned.
"Nothing much, but could you possibly explain why everyone keeps staring and whispering about me wherever I go?"
She laughed "It's because you haven't been claimed yet sugar! You've been here 'bout a month now and you haven't been claimed. It's unusual. Most of us get claimed the day we come to camp, or at least during our first week! I mean, I got claimed as I climbed up half blood hill!"
"Could someone PLEASE explain to me what claiming even IS!?" I was getting fed up with everyone saying it and not explaining what they meant.
Bells laughed again "Well usually when you're claimed a 'lil glowin' symbol 'pears 'bove your head. It means your godly parent is declarin' that you are their son or daughter. Dependin' on who your parent is the symbol will change."
I must have looked like the news was anticlimactic because she laughed again and said "Well it's not ALWAYS a glowin' symbol. I got struck by one of my dads lightnin' bolts. He has a 'lil bit of a flair for the dramatic."
I looked at her in horror. Maybe I didn't really want to get claimed...
I ended up staying with Bells until the conch horn blew. Then I ran outside. To my dismay the Hermes cabin was already halfway there. I had to sprint to catch up. I ate quickly, Not that I was in a hurry. The Campfire was next and I wasn't really looking forward to it. I don't really like social events. Then I saw the fire. It's flames had to have been at least 7 feet tall, and a odd peach in colour. I wasn't sure why, but just seeing it made me feel happy & relaxed. As we all sat down with our friends ( A/N: I'm not actually sure if they can sit with friends or not, but in my story they will.) I started feeling a sense of vague anxiety. This is why I never really went to parties and such. I sat with Annabella, Tiffany, Emma, Jacob, Emma's boyfriend Cato Inagashi son of Hephaestus. (I don't really know him that well, but I knew that he was good with bronze automans, and robots, and electronic things.) To my surprise the boy who was watching me in the infirmary sat with us. I believe his name was Nico, but I wasn't sure. He must have been friends with Annabella, Tiffany , Emma, or one of the guys. As we sang songs I noticed something odd about the fire. As our voices rose, and the mood changed the colors and the hight of the fire changed as well. When we first started singing the fire was a rosy peach and roughly 7'tall, but by the time we finished it was bright green and almost 10' tall. Chiron then got up and proceeded with the announcements. Most of them were about upcoming events and PSAs like never go in the woods by yourself. He then told us that some people we didn't know would be coming back with our part of the seven.
"Who are the seven?" I whispered to Emma
"Seven kids from different camps. Apparently the roman aspects of the gods have kids too and send them to another camp. The ones from here are Jason, Leo, Piper, Annabeth, and Percy. But we don't know who the others are. I guess they and the other camps leaders are the ones coming. One of them, Reyna, was already here, but she recently left."
Ahh... That made sense. I had heard about those kids, and Percy and Annabeth were like celebrities here.
Suddenly Rachel stood up. Everyone gasped as her eyes glowed green, and when she opened her mouth green smoke poured out and a raspy voice issued from her lips.
"Four demigods shall prevent the fall
Mother or children will rule all.
Lightning, Water, & Music prevail, But with out the Fire they will fail. To stop the giants the statue is needed , But even that can be defeated. For without the weapon of the prisoner of the sea, The Olympians will disappear for eternity. To break the cage five elements are needed, But the mission will fail unless these warnings are the path away from the earth, Agus beware do leanbh i gcroílár an teallach."
After she finished she promptly collapsed.
I was in shock. I mean it's not everyday that someone's eyes glow green and speak riddles while green smoke pours out of their mouths. And the last line. it was in Irish. I wasn't sure if it was just a fluke or not... The fire was dim a second ago but now it glowed brighter than it had all evening. A cloaked and hooded lady stepped out of the flames and everyone stood and bowed. I did as well but I wasn't sure why. I had a peculiar urge to get up and stand by her, but I suppressed it. After all, I had no idea who she was, and I was still puzzling over the riddle. Nico , I think, stood up and addressed the lady.
"Lady Hestia! To what do we owe the pleasure of your visit?"
Ah, that was who she was. Hestia lowered her hood and smiled. Her eyes seemed to reflect the fire.
"Hello demigods! I have come on business, but I see that your oracle is unconscious. What happened before I arrived?" She asked.
Emma replied "Rachel just issued an interesting prophecy."
Hestia looked at her as she was speaking, glanced away then looked back, straight at me. Her face paled. She quickly recovered her composure, and asked what the prophecy was. Emma and a few of her siblings relayed it. Everyone looked at Chiron for more information.
"I think that lady Hestia needs to speak herself." Was all he said.
"Very well" Hestia muttered. She glanced at me again with an affectionate look.
And extended a hand in my direction.
