(A/N: It's been a while since I've last updated. I've just started high school and it's a mess. First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who favorited and reviewed this story. I love your support. I have changed the way the war goes. Without further ado, I present to you chapter 10. Enjoy!)
"Put more force into it!"
Hinamori swung her sword in front of her with more strength. The speed of her attack surprised Toshiro. He leaped a few steps back and smirked. "Nice Bed-Wetter."
A vein popped on Hinamori's right temple. "Shiro-chan!"
At her outburst, Toshiro shunpoed right in front of her and twisted her wrist behind her back. He pulled her back to his chest and rested his head on her shoulder.
He whispered in her ear, "I want you to stay safe more than anything. Promise me you'll do that."
Hinamori wrenched herself out of his hold and turned around. She rested her hands on his chest and stared him in the eyes. "That's a promise I can't keep."
With that, she spun and took a step forwards. Toshiro called out, "I'll see you soon."
"Hai, you will," Hinamori assured.
"Subordinates assemble at the perimeter," the Queen ordered.
"Hai!" they answered.
It was time. Everyone was lining two hours before Aizen and his army would arrive.
Squads were split in sections besides each gate. Now, everyone had to wait patiently. The trees rustled a little. Every head on the ground looked in the direction of the wind.
"Watch out!" Ichigo shouted.
A huge explosion was heard near the north gate. The fourth division immediately began heading for the site of the explosion.
"Stop!" Unohana-taichou commanded.
The shinigami stopped running and looked back at her. "It's a distraction. Be careful."
"We're under attack! Fight back soul reapers!" Yamamoto said.
Another explosion sounded off. In the middle of the sky, Aizen appeared with his army. The captains all spread out and waited for the espada to attack. One espada occupied every captain. The war had begun. Yamamoto clashed against Aizen right away. Rangiku flash stepped in front of Gin. She looked at him with sullen eyes. He still had his smirk on as he said, "So good to see you again Ran."
"Gin."
He pulled out his sword and charged at her. On the other side, while the captains were fighting with their opponents, the lieutenants supported them. The fourth division was healing anyone with even the slightest injuries. Their goal was to go on even if they were injured. Ichigo and Yamamoto fought against Aizen to take him down, believing if they took the leader down, the war would end. Some attacks damaged the other districts and nearly half of the fourth division was there trying to heal the wounds and gashes they received. Every now and then, shinigami were thrown back to the ground and would require immediate assistance.
Gin grabbed Rangiku by the waist and shunpoed to the rooftop away from all of the fighting. Rangiku grunted and pushed his chest away. "Why are you doing this?" she asked.
His eyes were downcast with his bangs covering his face. "I'm just following orders."
Rangiku took a breath in and screamed, "So am I!" She ran forwards with her sword out in front of her. Gin looked up and slightly opened his eyes. The look on his face was yelling at her to stop and understand. Rangiku's widened at his expression and she leaned back before she ran her sword into him. Gin flashstepped behind her and struck the back of her neck. Her grip on her katana loosened as her body fell limp. Gin whispered, "Gomen ne Ran. I hope you understand why I had to do this." He got up to leave.
Rangiku's eyes began to close. Before they fully closed, she managed to say his name, "Gin, please." He didn't move. As her eyes dropped, he disappeared.
Toshiro's sword clashed with Tier Harribel. He pushed hard against her and leaped back. The blonde woman stayed quiet as she flashstepped in front of him. She swiped her katana horizontally to the left. Toshiro barely managed to lean his head back to avoid the attack, yet she cut off a strip of his hair. Toshiro's hands gripped the katana tightly. She came up to him again and aimed at his stomach. Toshiro had to thrust his sword to her head to deflect the attack. She stopped midway and took a step back.
Toshiro's eyes widened a bit and his reiatsu rose a bit. The espada questioned, "What's wrong?"
His attention reverted back to his opponent. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Keep your focus on me taichou," she stated.
He scoffed, "You're not worth my time."
Her eyes narrowed. "Have fun in Hell."
"Hinamori-san, we need back up over here!"
Hinamori swung her head around and hurried towards the soul reaper who needed her assistance. His hand covered the side of his abdomen. Hinamori pried his fingers away and looked at the damage. "Go ahead and help the others, I've got this."
Hinamori lyed her hands over his injury and breathed, "Keikatsu." The wound slowly began to patch up the broken skin. The soul reaper gasped in pain.
"I-I'm fine Hinamori-san. Please, go look after the lieutenants," the wounded shinigami whispered. Hinamori took a good look at him and nodded, moving away and running towards the opposite side of the city.
The Queen's eyes glazed at scene in front of her. The war wasn't what she had wanted. She saw captains and their lieutenants fighting against the espadas with each other. She had underestimated the time and strength of Aizen's army. She needed to put an end to this once and for all. She shook off her cloak and put her hand on the hilt of her katana. It was time to do business.
(A/N: Whew. That was rather difficult. I know it's really short, but I hadn't updated in a long time and I wanted this to be posted before school begins. Who knew it was so hard to write fight scenes?)
