Chapter 10: The Power of the Sun: Arise Apollonus Dragerion!
"I summon Bronze-Arm Tribe!" CJ tapped three mana and summoned the creature. Bronze Appeared behind him, this version of it being leaner and dressed in a dark trench coat with a energy sword instead of a pitchfork. After granting CJ additional mana, he tapped the fourth one.
"I also Generate Flame Sword – Pierce Accela!" He set the fire Cross Gear on his side and moved his fingers to Gonta. "Gonta, Break his shield, Ike!"
Gonta leapt over CJ and twirled its weapon, breaking the first of Kengo's shields. The shield shattered and Kengo took the card, adding it to his hand.
"So far so good kid, gotta hand it to you." He drew and set his third mana. "I summon my own Bronze-Arm tribe and gain mana."
His Bronze-Arm tribe, resembling the standard one, materialized and granted his duelist with extra mana. Witn no other moves, Kengo passed the turn over.
CJ drew, set mana and tapped three. "I summon Qurian." The water creature materialized and held its mechanical hands up, granting CJ and extra card for his hand.
"And with two mana remaining, I cross Pierce to Bronze!" he tapped one of his two remaining and slid the Cross Gear under Bronze-Arm Tribe, replacing his energy sword with the pair of daggers.
"Now, Bronze-Arm tribe, break his shield, ike!" CJ tapped his creature and the newly armed creature responded by slicing the shield in half.
Kengo retrieved the card, and grinned. "Shield Trigger: Hell's Scrapper on Gonta."
The Shield fragments shot around Gonta, reformed into a machine which grabbed and crushed the creature into particles. CJ snickered seeing one of his stronger creatures defeated.
"Maybe I shouldn't have said what I did. It's beginning to get to your head now."
"Nothing is getting to my head. Just do your turn." CJ shot back.
Kengo smirked and drew. He set mana and tapped all five. "I cast Spell Shot: Sword Launcher. I destroy Pierce, and follow that by attacking Bronze with my Bronze."
The gear exploded out of Bronze-Arm tribe's hand and in its disorientation the opposing Bronze lunged forward and pierced it with its pitchfork. CJ's Bronze however was quick enough to draw its blade, both exploding behind CJ and pushing him into his table a bit.
"If you think that's going to be enough to keep me down, then you're wrong."
"Oh trust me, I know full well what you're capable of. Which is why I'm enjoying myself as we continue on. Now, I believe it's your move."
CJ nodded and drew. He set mana and tapped five. "I cast Streaming Shooter. With it, I reveal the top five cards of my deck and add all fire and nature cards into my hand…" He drew and revealed: Super Dragon Machine Dolzark, Spiral Gate, Rakshasa Chorozon, the Shadow Warrior, Bombazar Sword Flash Dragon and Octillion Force. Three out of Five.
"I add my two dragons and my cross gear to my hand and send the two Water cards to my grave. Finally I break another shield with Qurian!"
As commanded, Qurian hopped over and broke Kengo's third shield. He retrieved the card and added it to his hand.
"You know, for a Supernova, you're not as tough as you lead on." CJ called out.
Kengo scoffed, crossing his arms. "Well I was trying to be nice. I wasn't intending on actually killing you."
"Now where's the fun in that?" CJ taunted. "Come on, show me what you can do."
Kengo sighed. "Just remember kid, it's your funeral." He drew and set mana. "I summon Geo Goctra, Armed Dragon."
Geo materialized, and his presence shifted the tone in the room. CJ suddenly felt as if he regretted his previous taunt.
"Samurai Generation." Kengo revealed a gear in his hand. "I generate Wind Blade – Kamikaze Spirit."
The howling green blade materialized and hovered, awaiting for someone to grasp it.
"Fortunately for you, I don't have an extra mana to cross it but if I did, then thing's wouldn't be looking so great for you. I end my turn." Kengo said.
CJ reached for his deck, and that's when he realized he was shaking. Geo's presence was making him hesitant. He shook it off, keeping in mind that he still had five shields, while he only had two left. And with Bombazar in his hand, he had nothing to worry about. All he had to do was push a bit further. He drew set mana and tapped.
"I summon Bombazar "Sword Flash" Dragon!" he tapped all seven mana and set the card on the table. Like before, the card sparked with crimson energy and the armored dragon materialized behind him. CJ felt the intense pressure hit him like a truck, but he still kept on his feet, despite the surging pain. "Sam…Samurai Generation…! Octillion…Force!" he managed to get the card on the table before dropping to one knee.
"Haven't you heard the saying kid? If you can't handle the heat…"
"Shut up…!" CJ growled. "Qurian… Break his…Shield!"
Qurian acknowledged the command and charged, bringing Kengo's shield count to one.
"Don't say I never did a favor for ya. Shield Trigger: Natural Snare on Bombazar!"
CJ hesitated and watched as vines summoned from below swallowed the Dragon that was taking a toll on his body. "Crap…"
"What, did you really want to die that bad?" Kengo scratched his head. "Well, if you want it that way…" he drew and set mana. "Let's see what I can do. I summon Bronze-Arm Tribe, then I Cross Wind Blade onto Geo Goctra, and I Generate Evolve Wind Blade into Dragon Blade – Yamato Spirit!"
The howling green blade, shined brightly, developing a flaming aura around it and turning completely gold in its structure. It poured golden flames as Geo grasped its power.
"You fools thought you stopped me from receiving Yamato's power? I am a Samurai like the rest of you! All I needed was a touch and I was able to create this gear. And with it, I will crush all those who stand in my way." Geo said arrogantly, swing the blade about.
"Care for a demonstration? Attack Qurian!" Kengo ordered.
"Gladly." Geo roared, slashing the small water creature with little effort. Geo returned to his spot as Kengo untapped him.
"The best part about this? I haven't even revealed my Supernova and you are scared out of your wits." Kengo laughed.
"You talk big, but look at the field. You only have one shield left."
"I know that. You've proven to me that that's as far as you're gonna get. Now then, last shot to get one on me, because if you waste it, you will regret it."
CJ snickered and drew. He threw the card in mana, not considering its use. "Super Dragon Machine Dolzark, Arise!"
Tsume materialized on CJ's side and roared with as much fury as CJ demonstrated.
"And… it's wasted." Kengo said, drawing his card. "I summon One-Eyed Lu Pine, and follow up with Jack Rider, Battle Dragon."
A pineapple creature and a red dragon-centaur samurai materialized alongside Geo and Bronze. Jack began to glow red and out shot a card from Kengo's deck.
"Take a good look at it. Jack searches for an evolution creature that shares a race with it from my deck. This is my Supernova: Apollonus Dragerion."
Ignoring his fear, CJ refused to show signs of fear. He just wanted Kengo to continue on.
"And I think I'll end my turn for now." Kengo said.
"Bad move." CJ Drew and set mana. "Mana Evolution: I evolve the Loquant Retainer in my mana zone into Ida, the Great Enigma!"
Ida arose aside Dolzark and grabbed its blade, ready to strike.
"Now, what was that about a wasted turn? Dolzark, Break his last shield!"
Tsume nodded and gathered energy in its chest, and fired a laser which decimated the last shield. The shards, shattered about, but Kengo's smile stayed glued on his face.
"Shield Trigger: Natural Snare on Ida."
CJ hesitated at the reveal and reluctantly moved ida to mana. "Doesn't matter. I'm still going to beat you no matter what."
"And that's where you're wrong." Kengo said. he drew and tapped the required mana. "Did I forget to mention… that all of my cost 4 and higher creatures become Armored and Earth Dragons, in addition to Samurai as well?"
CJ grew cold, a wave of shock and terror filled his being at that moment.
"I guess I forgot…" Kengo said, sort of guilty. "Galaxy Vortex Evolution! I Evolve Pine, Jack and Geo into Apollonus Dragerion: The Sun Supernova!"
Geo raised his blade into the air and swung it about, stirring up a golden flame tornado that overtook the trio. From the Golden flames, a massive red dragon emerged, decorated with ancient ornaments and flames dancing about its person. Its wings glistened in hues of red, orange and purple and it patiently floated behind Kengo, the Yamato Spirit blade rotating about in its orbit.
"Wanna know the reason why I waited to attack kid?" Kengo asked the dumbstruck hero. "Meteorburn. Apollonus, WORLD BREAK!"
Apollonus generated a ball of gold flames in one of its claws and threw it, all five of CJ's shields incinerating in a flash to his shock. As he tried his absolute hardest to withstand the blast, one card caught his eye. The one thing that could turn this sudden catastrophe into a blessing.
"Shield trigger! NATURAL SNARE! On Dragerion—!" CJ suddenly watched as his mana exploded from his mana zone as Dragerion phased out.
"Oohh, bad move kid. If you make Dragerion a target, he burns all of your mana, which in other words... means that you have no way of coming out of this one. You sealed your fate."
CJ dropped to his knees, feeling the strain drop on him. He ran out of energy left to move. Kengo walked over to him and picked up the semiconscious boy.
"You were much more entertaining than you realize. You are the only person outside of Shotaro to force me to use my Supernova. Kudos to you." He then threw him back on the ground like a piece of garbage.
"Now then, I do belive this belongs to me. Unless of course any of you would want to try going up against me as well." He looked over to Jamie's direction, but Dylan jumped in front of her. Kengo scoffed and walked over to the Galaxy Blade.
"Don't Touch that Blade!" Shiden warned gravely. "No Human has ever touched the blade and survived!"
Kengo smirked and grabbed the hilt of the blade. The surge of pain shot through him, but instead of screaming, it was laughter. "Oh yeah, this is the real deal! I can feel Master Thanatos' power coursing through me!"
He pulled harder against the blade and it shifted, and with that response, a massive gust of wind suddenly made its presence known before them.
"You fool! You opened the gate to the Kaijin no Sekai!" Kureshima shouted, shielding himself from the winds.
Despite that, Kengo ignored it and kept pulling until the sword was completely out. The gate completely shot open and the strong winds pulled everyone within the portal, before shutting completely very quickly.
No trace of the trio, the masters or Kengo was left within the temple.
And most importantly, the Galaxy Blade was out of its place. And with this, there was no telling what was to unfold from this.
