Finn and Marceline sat and sipped tea as they observed the scene in front of them; The Ice King or Simon as he would rather be called sat with a woman who had a peculiar resemblance to Princess Bubblegum.
The Ice King's skin had lost most of it's bluish hue and atop his head still sat the cursed crown, but his words were calm and collected. It had seemed that woth the help of his new friend he had regained his old personality.
Marceline sat crying tears of joy and Simon began to explain how he had regained his normality. It seemed that before the great mushroom war Samantha, (the woman who has pb's appearance) had been a scientist who's feild of expertise was the creation of several new groundbreaking developments in both renewable food sources and extending human longevity.
The crown had been a great success, not only giving humans a life expectancy that couldn't even be estimated. The results of the crown hadn't even soured until a year after it's creation one of the co-creators had been murdered wearing the crown.
It absorbed his mind and his conscience enraged at his murder, lay in wait until the next host had worn it.
The crown was presented as a gift to royalty from a neighboring country and it was then that the crown struck.
The great mushroom war had been triggered and nothing could stop it.
The crown only survived the conflict because of Simon's unfortunate discovery of it.
Samantha unknowingly treaded into the Ice Kingdom as she searched for it and the Ice King captured her.
At the mention of this The Ice King gave a nervouse chuckle and rubbed his head.
"What!". He laughed. " It wasn't me it was the crown!"
Samantha gave him an odd look and then allowed Simon to continue with his story.
Before the crown experiment she had been tasked with creating a source of renewable food. Something that would be able to sustain thousands of people at little cost to the government at the time
But they had not only created a new form a renewable food, they had created a new form of life.
To continuously sustain and regrow a vegetable crop or cattle herd it would require more resources going in than products coming out, so they began with artificial foods.
The first foods they had tried were tofu, supplemental bars and bubblegum, but when the food had gained sentience the project had to be cancelled.
They couldn't just kill these new creations. They had developed a full intelegence, in some areas even more developed than humans.
Bubblegum had taken the form of Samantha and cleverly escaped, but she didn't travel far. She suffered from obsessive tendencies and began to stalk Samantha.
Samantha; only seeing a great scientific opportunity, took her in and helped her cultivate the budding scientific mind that belonged to bubblegum. She learned fast and eventually surpassed Samantha in intelligence, eventually recreating the conditions that led to her creation.
With the Mushroom Wars in full swing, Samantha and Princess Bubblegum fled. Bubblegum had began to repopulate certain areas and eventually created the Candy Kingdom.
Samantha created a device similar to the crown and continued to travel the world woth her newfound eternal life.
Only recently had she returned to Ooo, and when she did she had been pleasantly surprised that it was now teeming with life.
Marceline broke Samantha's explanation.
"So you created bubblegum a crazy bitch to begin with?" Marceline angrily questioned.
Samantha laughed earning a harsh look from Marceline, who was apparently not amused.
"No her personality just grew that way over time, I was obsessed with my work and it must've rubbed off onto her."Samantha said as she gazed out the window. She looked to the Candy Kingdom burning in the distance.
"We should probably go settle this problem you've developed." She frowned as she spoke. "It seems she had grown much worse than I had initially expected."
Marceline looked at her angrily and stood up.
"If you knew she would do this then why didn't you kill her?"
Samantha looked at her and her frown deepened.
"At the time my life and job were devoted to creation, not destruction. Could I ask you to kill the person you love?"
Princess Bubblegum could only scream as the air around her ignited. The sword she held in her hand was plunged deep within the Flame Princess's body and it seemed she would not die so easily.
Pieces of Bubblegum's body had been vaporized as the Flame Princess began to die. Flames slowly spread throughout the castle, creeping along the walls and eating everything like a rabid animal.
Princess Bubblegum crawled outside, she dragged her body weekly across the castle lawn. Her skin had melted away and she resembled a corpse.
Her breathing was uncontrollable and steadily she could barely breath at all. She forced herself onto her back and stared at the sky.
The sun was creeping up over the mountain and the stars faded into the morning sky. She tried harder to breath; how much longer could she last?
She relaxed and continued to breath, she saw the sunlight creep accross the lawn towards her. It was a bright patch apon the grass that continuously crept nearer.
It was only a foot away when she felt the harsh temperature spike. As it crept nearer she felt the heat increase until it touched her face
She screamed, her skin no longer there to protect the sensitive nerves that covered her body. The resulting sensation was an intense burning pain similiar to the Flame Princess's touch.
A cloud passed over head causing a temporary releif and she opened her eyes. Blinking away stars and looking through tears was a familiar face.
'impossible' she thought.
Samantha sadly looked down apon her sad, mangled creation. It almost pained her to see her in such a state.
"Sam..." The seemingly lifeless corpse spoke. It's burnt face stared up at her. To anyone else it would have been a strange corpse apon the ground, but to her it was her twisted little creation.
"Bonnie." She softly said. She gently reched down to touch her face resulting in a pained shudder from Bubblegum.
Finn and Marceline talked away from the pair; they spoke to each other in hushed voices. Simon sat beneath a tree relaxing.
"Finn we need to kill her." Marceline pleaded. " she has caused to much damage and it's to great a risk if Sam repairs her."
Finn shook his head as he watched Sam slyly pull a dagger from behind her.
"As much as I agree with you, it's not really our choice." He simply said.
Marceline turned with fire in her eyes and exploded on him.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN NOT OUR CHOICE?!" she screamed. "SHE IMPRISONED US FOR THREE MONTHS!"
Finn simply shook his head and watched Sam punch the blade into Bubblegum's chest. She let out a final pained scream and grabbed Samantha's arm.
Her scream abruptly stopped as her body fell limp. Sam left the dagger in her body and Marceline fumed.
"I wanted to kill that bitch." She sourly said.
Finn and Marceline held hands as they walked through the rubble. Clouds covered the sky and it appeared as if it would soon rain.
Marceline was growing impatient and Finn knew there was something in the rubble he needed to see.
"Marceline could you go with Simon and Samantha for a bit?"*
Marceline gave him a strange look, but agreed. Leaving Finn alone in the rubble.
He walked further towards the heart nof the castle's collapse and could feel the temperature increasing, at one point in his life he was completely comfortable with the heat. Now it was a bit bothersome.
As he entered a clearing the heat vanished. Before him was the Flame Princess seemingly unscathed. She smilled and floated near him.
Finn could see a large slash accross her midsection where he knew that a blade had penetrated.
She touched him. Her hands no longer possessed the burning sensation they once did and she looked him in the eyes.
"Finn I'm sorry." She said asbshe vanished.
Behind where she stood finn could see her necklace she once wore melted into a large body shaped stone.
He sighed as he felt that first drop of rain hit his shoulder, and as the raindrops fell, his tears fell.
He knew he no longer cared for her. It wasn't saddness from the loss of a loved one. He just was sad for the loss of her.
Finn walked back to Marceline and held her.
"I think im ready to go home now." He said.
"We should go back to the tree house Finn." Marceline said as she kissed him.
They looked up as they heard a strange noise and then Jake fell from the sky. He wrapped himself around Finn and was screaming in joy.
"FINN" Jake yelled. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN."
Finn looked at Marceline who's mood had suddenly changed and was now smiling.
"Well it's a long story."
