Chapter 10: A Night To Remember

Hey everyone, Nova Pyro is back with chapter 10. This is going to be good one and to those who haven't read chapter 9 yet, get to it, and get up to speed. As for those who have been reading I thank you and for your continued reviews and suggestions, keep em coming and I'll keep going. This chapter will have song, a few ideas form other medias, and romance. Now let's get this chapter started.

It was a calm cool night in Equestria. The moon had just risen and many were already finding themselves in the cool embrace of slumber. The creatures of night were already beginning their activities while the creatures of the day slumbered away.

In the city of Canterlot, Luna had just finished raising the sun and was heading back inside. Jordan, the general of thunder, and Pyro's brother had watched the whole thing.

He loved watching Luna raise the moon and seeing the peace and coolness the night brought to the land. He jumped down from the roof and made his way into his room. He then climbed onto his bed and was about to try and rest himself.

After a few hours of sleep something had suddenly called on the young dragon's consciousness. With his heightened dragon senses it was physically impossible for him to be off guard. Jordan awoke as he suddenly heard someone move past his door.

Being curious he stepped over towards the door to see who would be up this late at night. Upon peeking out his door the thunder dragon was met with a figure moving down the hall. Using his night vision and sharp eye sight he narrowed and saw that it was non-other than the princess of the night herself.

This more than surprised Jordan, sure Luna went for an evening walk every now and then, but not this late. Curiosity once again claimed the dragon and he began to follow her, very quietly.

Luna continued her walk down the hallway making sure to stay quiet, and completely unaware of her follower. As she turned the corner, Jordan jumped used his razor sharp claws to jump onto the wall and glide over to a marble statue.

Upon hearing the sound of wind Luna turned around to see only nothing awaiting her. She then turned back and continued on her course. It was then that Jordan watched as she headed for an open balcony, meaning she was planning on going somewhere.

In the time Jordan spent here in Canterlot, he had spent much of it exploring the city, the castle, the library, but ever sense Luna awoke him from his nightmare, he had spent much of his time with her.

They began to hang out, talk, fly together, and he even watched her raise the moon on more than one occasion. Over time he had grown to care for her and she for him. Something was up and he didn't want her going out alone. Deciding it would be a better idea to confront her now than later, the sub-adult dragon jumped down and went after.

As Luna prepared to take off, Jordan called out, "Luna." Hearing her name Luna placed her wings back at her side and turned to see who had called her. She was caught by surprise to see that it was Jordan. He continued as he said, "What are you doing up so late? Where are you going?"

Luna sighed and said, "Jordan I… I'm going somewhere very important and I'd appreciate it if you would not try to stop me. I would also appreciate it if you would not tell anyone about this."

Jordan thought for a minute and said, "Well it would be pretty hard to tell anyone if I wasn't here either." Luan looked up at him and smiled. She then said, "Oh Jordan, I don't know. I mean this place is…" The dark blue dragon moved forward and brought her chin up so she was looking him in the eyes.

He then said, "Luna, it'll be alright. Let me come with you… or you could try and stop me." Luna smiled bashfully as she said, "Very well, you may accompany me, but please this place is very special… you must not tell anyone that I go here, especially not my sister."

He nodded and backed up. Luna then spread her wings and took flight through her starry sky with Jordan right behind her. As they flew Jordan couldn't help but take small glances at Luna. In the night sky she looked absolutely beautiful.

It didn't take princess of the night long to realize that he was taking glances at her. She turned to him and asked, "Is something wrong?" He quickly faced forward and said, "Uh no I… I was just thinking it's a beautiful night tonight."

Luna smiled as she heard those words and replied, "Thank you. Although I am not sure that my subjects enjoy night as they do my sister's day." Jordan then replied, "Of course they don't." Luna looked at him in surprise and shock as he said that. She then asked, "W-What?"

Jordan then replied, "Night and Day are completely different. The sun bathes the land in warmth. During the day we can see everything perfectly as the light of sun shines in our eyes. We do our jobs and our tasks during the day. As well as other things."

Luna began to feel as she did all those years ago before she became Nightmare Moon. She began to feel inadequate, sorrowful, jealous, and unneeded. It was these very things that drove into becoming her other self.

Jordan then said, "But then there's the night. The time when the hot sun is replaced with the cooling moon. The night sky fills with beautiful stars and our eyes soothed with the gentle glow of the moon. We then have time to rest and relax with those that we love before fall into sleep where our dream await us. Both day and night have their own beauty and we all need them both in our lives."

Luna eyes were wide with surprise as she listened to the thunder dragon speak so passionately about the beauty of her night. He spoke of it in a way she had never heard before. A smile came to her face and a few tears managed to find their way to her eyes.

She quickly wiped them away and said, "Thank you Jordan. It has been many years since someone has spoken so well of my night. I'm thankful that you came with me." The thunder dragon nodded to her and continued on their path.

Luna was about to turn her head but stopped as she saw Jordan's body in full view. His dark blue scales accompanied by her starry sky gave him an elegant and dashing look. After about a minute she realized that she was staring and turned back ahead hiding the blush on her face.

After about another five minutes something finally came into view. Jordan looked closer and saw that it was a small village. He then began to wonder why Luna would want to come here at this time of night. He then thought, 'She must have come here for some reason. I'll find out once we get down there.'

As the two descended they both hovered above the ground before landing softly. Upon arriving Jordan was utterly shocked at what was in front of him. What lie before him was a town in ruin and destruction. The thunder dragon had seen sites like this before, but that didn't make seeing them any less saddening.

As he scanned the area he began to notice that there were ponies still here. The ones he could see were all young fillies and foals who looked like they had been abandoned and abused.

Jordan then asked, "What happened here?" Luna began walking as she answered his question. "Many years ago, around the time I had become 'Nightmare Moon', Discord ruled here."

Jordan then asked, "He did all this?" She nodded as she said, "Yes, and he delighted in every moment of it. He turned this peaceful thriving village into his chaos capital as he continued to spread his curse across Equestria. That is until my sister and I stopped him with the elements of harmony that Twilight and her friends now poses."

The dragon of thunder was saddened by this story and even as he continued to see the faces of the many young ponies who were watching them from there makeshift homes. He then asked, "So why are we here?"

"Well after Discord was defeated, this village and this land had been completely destroyed. Only a few of the ponies who once lived here still remained. The destruction caused here by Discord was devastating and the sorrow that filled my heart at seeing my subjects especially the children like this weighed heavy on my heart. So I proposed to remake the land into a prosperous paradise for those who remained, a place where they could forever live in peace."

After those last few words Luna went quiet and looked down with a sad and disappointed look on her face. Jordan then asked, "What happened after that?"

She sighed deeply and said, "My sister forbade it. She thought such a world would divide the land and invite disharmony. Even so I kept coming back here to visit and take care of them until… until the day I became Nightmare Moon."

Jordan's face went to one of pity at the mention of Luna's alter ego. She then continued, "All the destruction and chaos I brought all those years ago will haunt me for the rest of my days. Not only but for all the years I was gone these young ones were still here suffering and where was I?"

Jordan moved close and wrapped over her back to try and comfort her. She looked up at him and smiled as she continued her story. "When I returned to my original self I came here and found that all this time the children and those who believed in the world I had imagined had been waiting for me all this time. They said they looked to the stars remembering me as their dear mother, for they were, are, and always will be… my children of the night."

Jordan was astonished by what he had heard and listening to Luna speak like this made his heart warm up and put a smile on his face. He then said, "So you come here to visit them when you have time?" She nodded and looked out to the sleeping ponies and children.

She then said, "Yes, but this is all I can do. Come to them at night, watch over them, and let them dream, as they will. I just wish I could help them, to give them the peaceful world I proposed all those years ago. A place they could call home and live as they choose. But I cannot… my sister was right when she said it would divide the exiting worlds. I cannot bring disharmony to Equestria again."

The general of thunder looked upon the princess of the night with a saddened look on his face. He saw and felt that she truly wanted to help these ponies who looked up to and loved her like no other.

He then looked into the night sky as he wondered how he could help her. He scanned the star filled sky and looked upon the full moon that she had risen with her magic. As he looked at the moon, his draconic eyes fell on two stars not too far away from it.

The stars were very close together and the first one was higher and closer to the moon. This formation seemed to peek Jordan's interest as he began to look closer and focus on them. It was then that the thunder dragon began to shift through his memories and finally he came up with an idea.

He looked to Luna and said, "Luna, I think I just thought of way you can give these ponies a new home without bringing chaos to Equestria." She looked to him and asked, "What do you mean?" He answered and said, "Back home in the city, there's a legend about a land where people live that's separate from the world we know. A world where fantasy is reality and anything is possible. Not only that, but you get to stay young as long as you want."

Luna then asked, "Where is this land and what is its name?" Jordan smiled as he said, "Up there… second star to the right and straight on till morning. Its called Neverland."

The princess of the night was overcome with wonder and excitement at mention of this new world, but that excitement soon went away as she came to a realization. She then responded, "Jordan, it's a wonderful thought but no such land exists here."

The thunder dragon responded, "Maybe not, but you can create. You're the 'Princess of the Night' the stars and moon are under your control. I'm sure creating a world inside of star should be within your ability." Luna thought for a minute and said, "Jordan I-I don't know…"

She was soon cut off as Jordan lifted her chin with his claw and pointed to the town. He then said, "Luna look… you said you wanted to help them, and now's your chance to do it. I know you have it in you… you should at least try, if not to atone for the time you weren't here, then do it for them here and now so they no longer have to live like this."

Luna looked out over the village and thought hard about what to do. Finally she turned to her him and said, "Alright Jordan, I'll try… for them and for you."

The dragon of thunder smiled and said, "Now then, I'll go round everyone up. You go and get ready. This is going to take a lot of magic." She nodded as he left and mentally prepared herself what she was about to attempt.

It took some time but eventually Jordan managed to gather every last filly and colt in the entire town (after the initial shock of him being a dragon went away). He gathered them all at the foot of a hill where Luna was standing and looking out over them all.

Upon seeing the poor, lonely, and tortured faces of these young ponies she was filled with a drive to do this. She mentally coached herself, 'I can do this, I can do this, I have to.' With that she began to speak to them all loudly and clearly without using her traditional Canterlot voice.

"My children of the night long have you suffered here because of what happened all those years ago. Well I am here to tell you that your hardships are over. Years ago I proposed that we make land of prosperity and peace where you all could live happily forever, but as you know my elder sister Celestia forbade it. I now realize she was right allowing a land such as this to exist in Equestria would indeed divide the land and lead to disharmony."

The young ponies began to make sad disappointed faces as they heard this, but as the princess of the night continued they're ears perked up. "So I have come up with a solution. We shall create this land of peace away from Equestria, to a place where you all can live in peace for all Eternity."

Upon hearing this the young ones smiled and began to cheer and laugh amongst themselves. Luna smiled and turned to Jordan who nodded telling her now was the perfect time. She then lit up her horn and soon her starlight aura engulfed every filly and colt that had gathered there.

They all watched as they began to float into the sky and their lunar mother spread her wings and took the sky. She then spoke, "Come my children of the night, soon you will be home." Jordan was quick to follow and as they were all airborne in endless night sky they began to make their way to their new home.

As they flew through the open sky the children laughed and played together enjoying the freedom of flying through the open sky. Jordan looked over the little ones to make sure they were all alright. Upon doing so he noticed that one of them was shaking with their eyes closed; it was a young colt with black fur and a white mane.

Jordan flew in closer and flew underneath the frightened colt, he flew upward placing the him on his back. The young felt this happen and was startled at first, but soon settled at seeing that this dragon was now carrying him. Jordan then looked back and gave the young colt a warm brotherly smile, which was immediately returned by the young one.

The thunder dragon then looked ahead at Luna was smiling and playing with the children as they flew. As he watched her, a smile came to his face, for he had never seen the princess so happy, and was glad she found a reason to cheer up.

The thunder dragon continued watching the princess until he realized he couldn't take his eyes off of her. He already thought she was beautiful, but here in her own night sky that word didn't even compare to her. Her star sparkled main and dark fur matched the sky perfectly and as stars and moon sparkled and glowed around her, she looked like a goddess. Soon a love struck gaze appeared on the male dragons face, but he soon shook his head and compose himself.

He was fully aware this wasn't the right time for this, so he would have to wait; For now he had to focus on the mission. He flew up beside Luna and looked up at the sky, scanning for the star they were looking for. His predatory eyes easily spotted his target and he pointed it out to Luna who nodded.

As they began to gain altitude and approached the star he looked over to her and asked, "Are you ready, Luna?" She turned to him with a determined look and smile on her face as she said, "I am."

As they approached the star Luna lit up her horn and began to channel all the magic she could, making her horn glow as bright as a star. The light was so bright that even Jordan had to squint in order to see what she was doing. Finally with her magic fully charged the princess of the night unleashed a beam of pure lunar magic.

As the beam impacted the star it began to shine like the sun itself and blinded the ponies subjected to its light. Even Jordan was forced to shield his eyes from the intense burning light. Finally after what seemed like forever the star flashed out and pulsed with magic power before opening up revealing a passage of color, light, and sound.

Everypony stared in awe at the now open star highway before them. Luna then said, "I, I did it." "I knew you could." Jordan said quickly after her. She smiled at him then turned to the others as she said, "Don't worry everpony it will be alright. Just follow Jordan and myself and everything will be alright."

With that the young ponies took off after the two and into the portal and as they passed through the star closed behind them. As they all passed through the star they marvled at the many lights and sounds flying around them.

As they continued down Jordan looked ahead and saw something coming up. He turned to Luna and yelled, "Luna I think I see the exit, it's coming up fast! We have to slow everypony down!"

The lunar princess nodded and began to slow their decent, and just as Jordan said the exit appeared and opened for them to pass through. As they all passed through they gasped at what they saw. Jordan was shocked as well, for before them stood not the legend he had heard of, but an empty void full of nothing but a starry sky.

Luna looked over to Jordan and asked, "Um is this the place? There's nothing here." He quickly replied, "I know I'm confused myself." The young ponies began to whisper amongst each other a lot of them began to despair, for they believed fate had once again turned its back on them.

The princess of the night noticed this right away and turned to her friend as she said, "Jordan we have to do something. I can't let them go back to that life after lifting their hopes up again." Jordan looked around and said, "I know, but… I'm not sure what we can do."

"There must be something we can do, we've come this far, and so far everything you've said has been right. I even managed to open the star to get us here." Then as if on cue a light bulb went of in the thunder dragon's mind. He turned to her and said, "That's it Luna, this world is yours. You opened the star with your magic, and creating this place. That means you can make this world whatever you want it to be. You can make the paradise you promised these young ponies all those years ago, right now."

Luna looked out over the vast empty world before her, and wondered what she should do. She then said, "Jordan I… I don't know if I can do this. I mean I know I promised to give these ponies a new home, but last time I tried to do something like this my sister forbade it. She was right saying it would divide Equestria. Not only that, but after that I became Nightmare Moon and threatened the Harmony of our land and our people.
I, I just… I just don't want to be responsible for another calamity. I don't want to make another mistake."

Jordan looked at her with pity and sadness in his eyes, but a smile soon came to his face as he began to remember when he was in this very situation. He moved closer, tilted her chin up, looked deeply into her eyes, and spoke in a gentle and calming voice.

"Luna listen I know you are still tormented by your actions as Nightmare Moon, but that's in the past. You have to let that go so you can move on and have a future. This is the time to show that you've have changed into a better mare, a better princess. You can make amends for what you did in the past, starting now. I believe in you… now you need to believe in yourself."

Luna's eyes began to water as she listened to the thunder dragon's words. She smiled and before he knew it embraced him in a hug. He warmly returned the gesture moving his head past hers and rubbing her back.

As the tender moment passed he turned to her and said, "You can do this. I know you can. She nodded and moved ahead of him, while he stayed with the young ones. As Luna stepped forward she took another look at the vast empty world before her.

She then turned back to her friends and smiled as she saw them watching her. Finally she was ready and princess of the night gathered her thoughts and prepared to do the impossible.

As she gathered her magic her horn lit up with its star light glow and she began to sing.

Let it - Go Luna Version:

The stars shine bright in this world tonight, not a hoof print to be seen. A kingdom of endless niiihiight and it looks like I'm the queen. This pitch-black world just like the darkness deep inside, could keep it in, heaven knows I tried.

(Luna puts a hoof to her chest and remembers her past as she continues.)

Don't let them in, don't let them see, be the good mare you always have to be, conceal don't feel, don't let them knoooooow. (She lightes up her horn with her starlight glow as she slams her hoof back down) Well now they knooooow!

She begins blasting small rays of starlight which shine brightly with her every word.

Let it goooo, let it goooo, can't hold it back anymooore, let it goo, let it goohoo, turn away and slam the doooor.

She then shoots two massive stars into the sky which shine brightly and illuminate the whole area.

I don't care what my past may saaay, my time is nooooow, the time to start a brand new day.

She walks forward looking over her this new world wondering where to start.

It's funny how some distance, makes everything seem smaaaall, and the fears that once controlled me, can't get to me at aaaaaaalll.

She then gallops a few feet before stopping and preparing her magic.

(She ignites her horn once again) Its time to see what I can do, (she blasts the ground allowing the stars to take form into a patch of land) To test my limits and break through, no right, no wrong, no rules for meeeeeee, I'm freeeeee.

She steps on the land she created and begins to spin around as she continues her magic blasts causing the land to widen and spread.

Let it go, let it go, I'm one with midnight skyyhyy. Let it go, let it go. You'll never see me cry.

Her body begins to glow with same magical starlight aura as her horn.

Here I staaaand (She then stomps the ground making the land spread out until it looked like an island), and here I'll stay. Let this night carry ooooon.

Her aura glows brighter as she uses her power to change the form of the land, creating large hills, and a mountain. She then moved her power to another part creating a nice flat area where crops and trees could be grown.

My power shines from the air into the grooouund. My soul is sparkling in twinkling starlight all aroouunnd. My one thought forms just like a Lunar blaaaast.

She creates another flat area where she planned for the ponies to live.

I'm never looking back, the past is in the paaahaaast.

She blasts the ground and suddenly houses made of her Lunar energy appeared for everyone of the young ponies and their families to live in.

Let it go, let it go and we'll rise like the break of dawhhawn. Let it go, let it gohooo, the perfect mare is gooone.

(She lands on top of a hill and basks in the light of her sisters sun which, had risen and was reaching through to this new world) Here I stand in my sister's day, let my past be goooooooonne, today's the start of a brand new day.

Everypony stood slack jawed and amazed at what they had just witnessed. The princess of the night had literally created their new home right before their eyes. Jordan was the only who didn't seem surprised at what just happened, and instead of a crazed face, a warm smile of adorned his face.

As Luna finished her last touches to houses and land on which they stood she finally signaled to Jordan to bring the young fillies and colts down to see their new home. He quickly nodded to them and began to lead them down.

As they all came Jordan hovered above the ground before landing and stepped aside. One by one the young ponies landed and began to explore the area.

Luna sighed and began to take deep breaths as she tried to recover her magic. She turned to her friend and said, "I did it." He placed his paw over her hoof and said, "I knew you could." The two began to stare into each other's eyes as they stood side by side enjoying their moment.

It didn't last long as all the young ones came back screaming in joy and happiness toward them. Before they knew both of them were swarmed and tackled by the ponies who were overjoyed at finally having a place to call home again.

The two then looked at each other and laughed as the appreciation for their deed was shown.

For a while they decided to stay and watch over the young ones. Jordan took any who were willing to explore the island. Luna decided to get everyone organized and assign each of them one of the houses she had created.

After a while everyone finally began to settle in. Jordan took upon himself to gather food… until he realized there was none there and went back to get some. While he was back in Equestria he decided that he would gather some things all of them would need.

He got sleeping begs, seeds to grow food, tools, clothes, and a whole lot of food. He used a shrinking potion to carry it all back himself, which he 'borrowed' from Princess Celestia's room.

Upon arriving back he saw everyone gathered around Luna who was smiling like he had never seen her do before. It was a warm, inviting smile that would make anyone smile in as well. He flew down catching everypony's attention and landed close by.

He and Luna then began to distribute everything with everpony equally as they did a warm feeling began to well up in both of them. Once everyone was taken care of they began to settle down to get ready for the next day.

Jordan and Luna watched over all them from the mountain peek to make sure they were all right. As they looked on, two creatures of the night soon felt it was time for them to depart. It was the thunder dragon who spoke first as he said, "Luna, I think we better head back. It's only a matter of time before one of your guards realizes your missing."

She nodded and opened her wings, flapping a few times before lifting off the ground. Jordan did the same and began to follow her up into the sky. Luna took one last look at the village and smiled before turning around and continuing her flight.

It didn't take long for the duo to get back to their dimension, which upon doing so they began to make their way back to Canterlot. As they flew Jordan turned to the Lunar princess and said, "Luna, I'm really proud of you." "For what?" she responded.

"Not only did you manage to let go of your past, but you also faced and reached for the future. You kept your promise and gave those ponies a home, a place where they can finally start over." Luna blushed as she heard his words. She then replied, "I couldn't have done it without you Jordan. The way you pushed me on when I was ready to give up. The way you believed in me, and gave me the courage to believe in myself. If it weren't for you my promise would still be left undone. I don't know how I can thank you."

They both smiled and looked deeply into each others eyes, and forming a new bond between them. As they closed in on the castle, they both pulled their legs up and landed on Luna's balcony. They made their way through Luna's room and Jordan began to move towards the door.

Just as he opened it and took a step out, Luna grabbed his shoulder and turned him around. She then said, "Wait Jordan, y-you don't have to go." "What do you mean?" "I… I mean… I want you to stay here with me tonight."

His face went red as he replied or tried to, "Huh… but… I… wh, why?" "Because Jordan, this night… has helped me realize something. It's made me realize how I truly feel about you and I think it's the same way you feel about me."

The thunder dragon was at a loss for words as he listened to her. She took a step forward and leaned in as she continued. "I love you Jordan, and I know… that you love… me." With that last word their lips found each other creating a passionate kiss between them.

Their moment had come and it felt like it could last forever. The stars in the night sky began to shine like never before as the heart of their princess lit ablaze. Jordan could feel his heart beat pulse throughout his entire body. As they pulled away they continued to stare into each other's eyes.

She then grabbed his hoof and said, "Jordan please, stay with me." He smiled as he responded, "I will forever." As he said those words he leaned in and kissed her even more deeply and passionately than she had done before. In response she began to back up and guided him into her room and used her horn to close the door behind her.

On that night a new love had sparked, a new rode had opened, and destiny had been set in motion.
