Chapter 10: Dating tips 101 (yeah okay, I know that they are young, so please don't give crap about it, this chapter is going to be longer… much longer, I promise)
"You want to what!?" Daniel exclaimed,
"Well I didn't see that coming," Sonic commented.
Daniel glanced over to Sally, who was observing the argument from the couch,
"Sonic, outside now," Daniel commanded as he shoved Sonic outside.
Daniel shut the door behind him and turned to face Sonic,
"Are you out of your damn mind!?" Daniel exclaimed,
"Daniel let me explain-"
"Do you know what her parents might do if I said yes?" Daniel asked,
"That's just it, her parents aren't home."
"… then where are they?"
"I-I don't know."
There was a small pause of silence, allowing Daniel to examine his expression. He noticed that his head was hanging low, he played with the dirt and… he was blushing?
"Ahh, I see what's going on," Daniel said,
"What do you mean?" Sonic asked,
"You like her."
Sonic's head immediately shot up,
"What- no! I mean- I can't," Sonic said as he fumbled his words,
"Oh yeah you like her," Daniel said as he smirked deviously, "I'll see what I can do."
Sonic and Daniel walked into the house, Sally was still on the couch and she shot up a quick glance and turned her head back down. Daniel walked over to Sally while Sonic walked into the kitchen,
"So what's your name?" Daniel asked,
"Sally," She answered,
"Are your parents' home?" he asked,
"No," She answered again,
"Why not?"
"They both went on a business trip."
"So they just left you alone?"
"Yeah, I can take care of myself."
"What's their phone number, so I can make sure this is alright."
"Umm there might be a problem with that… my parents don't have a phone."
"What kind of business man doesn't carry a phone," Daniel muttered, "How do you keep in contact?"
"Mail."
"How original," Daniel joked. He walked back over to Sonic, who stood behind the counter top, who observing the questioning taking place,
"I don't know man," Daniel said,
"Please you have to," Sonic pleaded,
"I don't have to, you just want me to."
"Okay yeah you're right, maybe it's not the best idea" Sonic admitted.
Daniel thought for a moment, "according to his parents, he didn't have any friends. But all of a sudden she pops up… he might not have another chance to have this moment for a sleep over." Daniel looked down upon the frowning hedgehog,
"Alright fine I give in, she can stay," Daniel finally said,
"Really!?" Sonic exclaimed ecstatically.
Daniel kneelt down and placed his hand on Sonic's shoulder and whispered, "But she needs to be gone by noon, so that we can train."
"No prob," Sonic replied.
Sonic ran over to tell Sally of the great news, that she could stay the night. Daniel walked over to Sonic's parent's room and closed the door behind him. He held out his hand and golden dust formed a ring, he sat down and asked,
"Will he have his abilities before the first attack?" Daniel asked. The glowing ring began to dim down in response,
"I was afraid you would do that," Daniel whispered as he clenched his fist lightly, once he opened his hand the ring disappeared and Daniel left the room. He walked over into the living room seeing two laughing kids,
"So," Daniel said as he clapped his hands, "you guys want a movie?" he asked,
"Yeah!" the two answered loudly.
The three walked out the door of the house and started toward the bus stop that would take them to the city. Daniel scanned the trees and brushed the bushes as he walked past them, Sonic noticed this but did not know what to interpret as, boredom, curiosity, or skeptical,
"Daniel what's up?" Sonic asked,
"Nothing, just checkin' out the cool wild life."
"Well you're petting a bush," Sally implied in a joking manner.
Daniel ceased stroking the bush, "How about we keep moving," Daniel said trying to push the two onward.
The three finally reached the bus stop and waited for the bus to arrive. The two kids sat on the benches in boredom, while Daniel leaned against a sign and performed coin tricks with a ring; he rolled the ring between his fingers and flicked it in the air while catching it with his two fingers. Sally looked over and noticed the tricks, but seemed to be more interested in the rare ring,
"Isn't that a power ring?" Sally asked.
Daniel flicked the ring in the air and held his hand out, when it came down; it remained suspended about six inches above his hand,
"Yup, it is. You two want to see a magic trick?" Daniel asked,
"I wouldn't mind," Sally answered. Sonic looked around Ally to see Daniel perform his feature.
Daniel threw the ring up into the air and snapped his fingers, the ring the dissipated in a golden powder like a firework. He twirled his index finger around the air, and the golden dust spiraled down, then in a vigorous motion he pointed toward the ground, and the dust impacted the ground. Once the dust dissipated he held out a clenched fist toward Sally, posturing in a heroic stance, once he opened his hand, a glimmering golden ring shone brightly,
"Take it," Daniel offered,
"Really?" Sally asked,
"Trust me I have a way of getting my own."
Sally took the ring and examined the perfectly genuine jewel.
The bus pulled up, and honked its horn as the driver opened the door,
"You guys headed to the city?" a middle aged raccoon asked politely,
"Yup we are," Daniel answered,
"Alright, well I'll take you there, climb in."
Daniel scuffled the kids on board and then climbed he walked on board,
"How much will that be?" Daniel asked,
"Well, I'll make a proposal, how about free?" He asked,
"Free?"
"Well I don't have much company."
Daniel looked to the back of the empty bus and saw the two sitting in the back,
"Matter of fact, I'll take you guys to wherever you like."
"Well, alright, how about the nearest movie rental store?" Daniel asked,
"You got it," the driver said as he started the bus. Daniel walked to the back of the bus and took his seat.
Once the bus arrived at its destination, the driver opened the door, and the three started for the front of the bus,
"You sure you don't need a fee?" Daniel asked,
"I'm positive; I live off of tips anyway," Replied the raccoon.
Daniel held his hand behind his back and clenched his fist,
"Well how about I give you a tip?" Daniel asked,
"You got a free bus ride, are you sure?" asked the raccoon.
Daniel held his hand open revealing a ring, though it didn't glimmer like the rings that he usually made, this one was stripped of all power,
"Haha, a ring?" asked the raccoon as he picked up the ring out from Daniel's hand,
"It's pure gold."
"I can't take this."
"No you can, trust me I have a whole supply," Daniel said as he walked off of the bus.
The driver closed the door and drove off; he then pulled out his phone, flipped it open and dialed the digits into it. He held the phone to his ear and waited,
"Hey boss…. I got one, but it doesn't glow like the ones you talked about….. Y-yes sir, they'll have to take the bus again…. Of course…." He closed the phone, "Egghead," he muttered,
"What was that," a furious man said from the other line, his phone had been switched to speaker
"I said you bet."
In the store, the kids were in their own sections, Sonic browsing whatever he could find, Sally browsing the romance section (Typical), while Daniel searched around the adult comedy section, he saw a movie that caught his eye,
"Spikes and dykes. Sounds promising," Daniel muttered as he moved away from the movie. Then he heard a noise from the romance section,
"Trust me it's good," Sally said,
"Yeah but I don't like all of that smooching stuff," Sonic argued,
"Please?" Sally pleaded.
Daniel walked over and spoke over the two,
"What's going on you two?" Daniel asked,
"Well I wanted to see if we could get this movie," Sally said as she handed the movie to Daniel.
He took the movie and read the cover, 'Romeo & Juliet' it read. Daniel shivered,
"Sonic come over here for a moment," Daniel said, he pulled sonic along two sections down leaving Sally to browse through the other movies,
"What's up?" Sonic asked,
"Look if you want to get the girl, then you gotta let her get the movie."
"But I don't want to date her," Sonic implied as he blushed lightly.
Daniel chuckled a bit, "Hehe of course you don't, but just let her have the movie, and let me know if you do need tips," Daniel said as he walked back over to the romance section of the store. Sonic followed and heard Daniel give the 'great' news to Sally, however he did notice another movie between his hands, but he couldn't read the title though,
"You get the movie this time, but next time it's our choice deal?" Daniel said as he held out his hand,
"Deal," Sally replied as she shock Daniels hand.
The movies were checked out and Daniel pay in cash as it was the current currency. The three walked out the store's door and started toward the nearest bus stop. The "city" was small, the paths were dirt and the only meaningful way to get around had been to walk or to take the bus.
Sally looked at the bag and had noted that there were two movies,
"What's the second movie?" Sally asked as they walked through the nearly empty paths,
"It's a personal favorite," Replied Daniel,
"But what is it?" Sally asked again,
"Well I'm not sure if you would want to know the title."
"Well I protect Sonic and go to school, so I think I can know."
"Oh so you're the one that kept Sonic alive eh?" Daniel asked as he glanced over to Sonic,
"Yeah, I guess not very many people like him."
"Hey com'on Sal I have friends," Sonic said,
"Aside from that two tailed fox?" Sally asked,
"Alright, alright i think that's enough- wait did you say two tailed fox?" Daniel asked,
"Yeah cool kid smart, has his own A.I already built," Sally implied,
"And he's how old?" Daniel asked,
"I think seven years," Sonic answered,
"Oh my, I think Mobius has a new genius."
"Yeah no kidding you'll have to meet him sometime," Sonic said,
"Hopefully," Daniel muttered.
Once they had reached the bus stop, the driver had already arrived with the doors open,
"Strange, he seems early," Daniel said as he boarded the bus,
"Hey, I'm back," the raccoon said,
"Yeah, you're a bit early aren't you?" Daniel asked,
"Well I don't have anywhere else to be, so I thought I would just wait at the nearest bus stop."
Daniel examined him skeptically as Sonic and Sally piled on board and moved to the back. Daniel gave in and walked on board seating himself behind the driver.
The raccoon closed the door and started off toward the forest's bus stop,
"So that gold ring you gave me," the Raccoon started,
"What about it?" Daniel replied,
"It looks like an exact replica of one of those rare power rings."
"Well it is" Daniel replied stiffly,
"You wouldn't happen to have one would you?"
"Why would you want to know?"
"I'm… curious…" the Raccoon replied nervously.
Daniel noticed the shakiness in his voice and could tell that he was up to something
"Pull over," Daniel demanded,
"What!?" The Raccoon exclaimed,
"Do it now or I'll do it for you," Daniel demanded once again.
Without hesitation, the driver pulled to the side of the road and the three departed the bus. The bus drove off and the three were left to travel by foot for the remainder of the trip home.
The three walked home in almost complete silence, the only noises made came from Sonic and Sally conversations. After a four mile walk, they had finally reached the house,
"Ahh home sweet home," Daniel said as he opened the door and entered, holding the door for the Sally and Sonic. As the two walked inside they proceeded to the couch and sat down placing the movies on the TV stand.
The TV was a 34 x 24 TV that sat on a black stand, underneath the stand had two box shelves. The left top shelf held the DVD player and that was it, for it was all Sonic's parents could afford,
"Aren't you two forgetting something?" Daniel asked.
Sally turned and replied, "Couldn't imagine."
"You never had popcorn while watching a movie?" Sonic asked.
There was a brief moment of silence as both of the hedgehog's eyes burned her, along with their taunting smiles, then Sally replied,
"Well I'm sorry, I didn't think about it," Sally replied as she stood up from the couch,
"Well I think it would be fair," Daniel started as he walking into the kitchen and pulled out a bag of popcorn from the pantry, "Is that you will have to cook it."
Sally walked over to Daniel and grabbed the popcorn bag, though as she tried to pull it, Daniel's grip tightened,
"Please tell me that you can COOK, and not burn it," Daniel joked,
"Two minutes?" Sally asked,
"On medium heat," Daniel finished as he released the bag, and walked out of the kitchen and over to the couch,
"*Psst* Daniel," Sonic whispered.
Daniel looked over to Sonic, who signaled to walk down the hallway,
"What for?" Daniel asked,
"I think you're right," Sonic admitted.
A devious and taunting smirk crept onto Daniel's mouth. He stood up and walked down the hallway with Sonic following closely. Once they reached the end of the hallway they stopped and Daniel crouched down resting his hands on his knees to adjust his height,
"So I'm right?" Daniel asked,
"Yeah, I guess I kinda do like her," Sonic admitted as a slight blush walked onto his face,
"Need tips?" Daniel,
"Yeah," Sonic replied as he nodded his he vigorously,
"First off you need to know how to flirt; flirting is when you 'hit' on a girl. Now since you aren't old enough to use my catch phrases, you'll just have to do with moving in," Daniel said,
"Huh," Sonic responded not understanding a word he said,
"Look half through the movie, there might be romantic part or something, at that part just put your arm over her shoulder."
"That's it?" Sonic asked,
"Trust me, there's not much you will have to do after that," Daniel said as he pat Sonic's shoulder and walked back to the couch.
Sonic took a deep breath and proceeded toward the couch, when he turned around the corner, Daniel and Sally had taken their seats, Daniel sat on the far right while Sally sat in the middle holding the popcorn. Sonic walked over and sat on the far left of the couch and rested his arm on the couch,
"Wait!" Daniel announced,
"What?" Sonic and Sally said in unison,
"We forgot to get the remote, and to put the movie in the DVD player," Daniel stated,
"NOT IT!" Sally yelled,
"NOT IT!" Sonic and Daniel yelled in unison.
Sonic and Daniel put their fists out for rock, paper, and scissors.
1, 2, 3; Sonic threw his fist out, while Daniel held out his two index fingers (Paper),
"Wow," Daniel said as he emerged from his seat. He placed the movie in the DVD player, grabbed the remote, and turned on the TV. He sat in the seat and announced,
"And now for our suicidal presentation, Romeo and Juliet," Daniel joked as he pressed play.
Sally rolled her eyes as the movie started.
Through the movie, Sonic grew nervous with each passing second; his moment could be up in a minute or in a split second. With the popcorn bowl empty the three watched as Romeo moved through the bushes to get to Juliet's balcony,
"Oh Romeo," She said.
The movie had been interrupted to Sonic by his own thoughts, he glanced over to Sally who had criss crossed her legs on the couch, and leaned back against the cushion,
"Okay Sonic, no hesitating," he thought.
Sonic looked up to Daniel, the two locked eyes,
"DO IT TO IT" Daniel mouthed.
Sonic looked at his right arm that had been resting on his lap, and picked it up. He slowly crept his arm around Sally without her noticing and rested it on the cushion behind her.
Sonic looked up to Daniel who then mouthed the words,
"Around her… lightly… grasp… her… shoulder."
Sonic look at the screen again and with a slow movement he did as he had been instructed. He placed his arm around Sally and rested it on her shoulder lightly, and then he grasped her shoulder.
However being that this was Sonic's first time, he sat in an uncomfortable position he sat up strait with his arm around Sally's shoulder. He looked to Daniel, who then mouthed,
"Pull… her closely…"
Sonic closed his eyes and pulled Sally closer to him. Without any resistance Sally leaned against Sonic, she uncrossed her kegs and bent them slightly one top of the other.
Sonic and Sally both blushing lightly sat there.
Sonic looked over to Daniel who then gave him a thumbs up, then the two unwillingly continued to watch the movie.
Later in the movie, Romeo sat up from Juliet's bed.
Daniel quickly stood up and dashed toward the TV screen covering Romeo's butt,
"Okay so I think I need to censor this part," Daniel said,
"It's fine, and besides we would have to see this sometime," Sally replied
Daniel looked as Romeo perched himself overlooking on the balcony,
"FINE BOOTY CHECKS FOR EVERYBODY!" Daniel yelled as he pulled his hand away revealing Romeo's butt checks.
(Felt the need to put it in there, little story behind this part here)
Near the ending of the movie, when Juliet finds Romeo dead. Daniel had been knocked out on the couch sitting up strait. While Sonic and Sally maintained their same posture,
"Okay my turn," Sally thought to herself.
She wedged her left hand behind Sonic's back, and slung her right arm around Sonic's waist, then she rested her head on Sonic's shoulder and with her left hand she grasped Sonic's hand intertwining her fingers between his. Sonic blushed wildly and let Sally do her 'move',
"Checkmate," She whispered,
"Checkmate?" Sonic asked,
Sally removed her position and sat up strait "Well, you're kinda new to this flirting thing… and so am I, but I know that you don't have anything beyond putting your arm around my shoulder… though I gotta admit, that took a lot of guts, even for you,"
"Well… Thanks, you sure don't act like you're new to this."
"I've been… studying it," Sally replied.
There was a moment of silence between the two. Sonic placed his hand on top of Sally's and the two locked eyes. They moved closer to each other, both blushing wildly, their heads about two inches apart, they moved closer, lips almost touching. Then the beast awoke,
"What time is it?" Daniel asked as Sonic and Sally bolted away from each other.
"I have no idea," Sonic replied.
Daniel checked his neo watch it read 10:43pm,
"Well damn, I guess it's time for bed" Daniel looked at the TV, "It's still on?" Daniel asked,
"Yeah, it's pretty long," Sally replied. Both Sonic and Daniel stopped and turned their heads slowly toward Sally, "What?" Sally asked.
Daniel turned the TV off, stood up, and turned the lights on,
"Alright Sonic say goodnight and turn in for the night," Daniel said as he walked into his parents' bedroom,
"Well I guess I'll see tomorrow?" Sonic asked,
"Yeah but doesn't Daniel have you doing something tomorrow?" Sally asked,
"Yeah he has me practicing."
Sally extended her arm and Sonic look at her with a *what are doing?* look,
"Aren't you going to hug me?" Sally asked,
"Oh um sure," Sonic said as he scooted closer to her and the two hugged. The two broke off and once again gazed into each other's eyes. In one quick move, Sally grabbed Sonic by the shoulder and pulled him into a quick two second kiss. They broke off leaving Sonic stunned,
"Goodnight Sonic," Sally said smiling delightfully.
Sonic walked off too his room and sat on his bed,
"Wow," he muttered as he lay down on his bed.
Meanwhile, elsewhere,
"What do you mean you didn't get one!?" the big man bellowed,
"He got off the bus before I could do anything sir," the raccoon pleaded.
A small moment off deathly silence fell between the two,
"You said he gave you a gold ring?" he asked,
"Yeah right here," the raccoon said reaching into his pocket, pulling out a simple gold ring.
The man snatched it and examined it under a bright light,
"Sir?" the raccoon called,
"If he did indeed give this to you, his indentations somewhere," the man said. He shot a glare that only reflected his glasses to the raccoon, "You are dismissed Ben."
"Yes sir."
(SO as I said much longer, I know these first ten chapters have been boring, but next chapter it will be climbing into its action pieces; little by little I will finish this story, THANK YOU)
