Jenny followed the Doctor as he searched around rambling about their ordeal. Jenny just nodded trying to keep up with the story.

"So basically you and Clara were investigating this, too?" She said after he finished explaining.

"Yeah, pretty much," He replied glancing out a window. "Of course something went wrong and we were separated. I ended up in that vat, don't where Clara is but from what I could see. I know she survived the process just have to find her."

Jenny looked at him. "What is that stuff?"

He looked at her grimly. "A deadly poison," The Doctor sighed. "Of course I survived because I'm not human." He scoffed. "They had the nerve to put me in reject pile!"

"What's it for?" She asked.

The Doctor sighed. "According to Ms. Gillyflower, is supposed to preserve her so called pilgrims from the apocalypse. So she's you know…." He whistled moving his finger around his ear.

"So what now?" Jenny asked.

"Well, first we need to find Clara." The Doctor replied.

Jenny sighed heavily. He still hadn't explained Clara.

"Doctor?" She said as they headed outside the dark compound. He started looking around, checking windows.

"She must be here somewhere." He muttered.

"Are you sure we're talking about the same Clara?" She asked confused.

"Yeah." He replied simply.

Before she could ask the Doctor motioned her to follow him. They went inside a room and discovered Clara alive inside a glass cover, sitting posed in a chair with a man like a life size portrait.

The Doctor rushed over and started feeling along the glass. It was completely solid. He noticed a pump attached to the glass pumping something. He didn't know what and he didn't care, he had to get her out! He grabbed a chair and smashed the glass to pieces freeing her.

He went to her.

"Clara?" He said softly, gently tapping her chin.

No answer. Now he was worried.

"Help me!" The Doctor said glancing back at Jenny.

They carried Clara to the area where the chamber was. He placed her inside and waited.

"Is she going to make it?" Jenny asked.

The Doctor stared at the clouded glass. "Hope so." He replied biting his thumb tip.

Just then they heard Strax and Vastra voices.

"Doctor, there you are," Vastra said. "We need to go."

"Clara's in there." Jenny chimed.

She looked at her. "Clara?"

Jenny just shrugged.

"What's this?" Vastra asked.

He glanced at her. "It's a timey wimey complicated thing."

Suddenly the door opened and Clara fell out. The Doctor caught her. She groaned softly.

"Hey, you okay?" He said in her ear.

Clara slowly opened her eyes and gazed at him a bit giddy and foggy eyed.

"Doctor!" She giggled.

The Doctor smiled. "Hi, there."

Clara glanced over and saw Vastra, Jenny and Strax looking at her baffled.

"Um, hi," She waved back. Clara glanced at the Doctor slightly confused. "What's going on?"

He shrugged. "Oh, you know the usual, trouble, chaos," The Doctor pointed behind him. "She's a lizard and he's a war driven potato…but they're very nice." He added.

Clara just nodded. She then glanced at his arm around her.

"Um, you can let me, go, now." She said blushing.

"Oh, right," The Doctor realized helping her stand. He cleared his throat. "So moving on, then?" The Doctor said. Everyone followed him.

"So what now?" Clara asked as they walked.

"Need to figure out what that venom is." The Doctor replied.

"It's from a red leech," Vastra chimed.

He paused. "Oh?"

She sighed. "A tiny parasite. My people tried to fight it but it kept infecting our water supplies and secreting a poison in our systems." Vastra explained.

"Red leech, huh," The Doctor pondered. He shrugged. "Personally I think Crimson Horror sounds better. Must have been lurking in the shadows and evolving for quite some time." He muttered.

He frowned. "But I still can't figure out how they're going to infect everyone." He started pacing a bit.

Clara folded her arms giving him one of her looks. He glanced up at her.

"What?" The Doctor said.

She sighed. "The chimney?"

He shrugged. "What about it?"

"That doesn't blow smoke?" She added smirking.

The Doctor grinned realizing what she meant. That was it, he realized!

"Clara, you are brilliant!" He exclaimed. Without thinking he embraced her and pressed a kiss to her lips, surprising her. It was quick but gentle and rather nice, she had to admit. She secretly wished it had lasted longer.

The Doctor pulled back blushing. "Uh, I….," He swallowed. Oh, god, he had messed up big time. "I meant nice work." He corrected shaking her hand.

The Doctor glanced at the others who were smirking.

"Anyway, come on, then, I've got a plan!" He said.

He watched as Clara walked past. The Doctor feared he had lost her trust but there was a shy smile on her face.

The Doctor slowly grinned. Maybe he hadn't made a mistake after all.

Later they all split up, Clara and the Doctor went to find Mrs. Gillyflower but when they entered a room they heard crying. Clara tapped his arm.

"Doctor, look," She pointed at a young woman sitting alone and crying. It was Ada.

"Ada." He muttered.

"You know her?" Clara asked.

He nodded.

Clara glanced at him. "Who is she?"

"Ada, Mrs. Gillyflower's daughter," He explained. "Saved me from the reject pile."

Her heart broke for the young woman. "Is there anything we can do for her?"

The Doctor went over and knelt in front of her. "Ada?" He said.

She tilted her head slightly startled. "Who's there?"

"It's okay," He assured her placing her hand on his face. "It's me, you know, monster?"

Ada finally smiled. "Monster," She then seemed confused. "But you feel different."

"Yep, all better," He assured her. "Thanks to you, yeah?" The Doctor said.

Clara knelt beside him. Ada felt the fabric of her dress brush against her hand.

"Who's that?" Ada questioned.

"I'm Clara." She replied.

Ada gently felt her face and smiled slightly.

"Oh, I'm so glad monster has someone. It's terrible to be alone." She replied sadly. "I fear that is my fate. Mamma says I have darkness and sin in my heart and not meant for happiness."

Clara scowled at that. What an awful thing to say to your own daughter!

The Doctor took her hands. "Ada, that's not true. You have nothing but kindness in your heart, I saw that personally."

She smiled slightly.

He then noticed the deep red scars around Ada's eyes. They didn't look natural or like an accident but done on purpose. Clara looked at him.

"What is it?" She asked.

The Doctor sighed shaking his head.

"What humans will do." He muttered. He then looked at poor Ada.

"Ada, who is Mr. Sweet?" He asked.

Ada teared up. "I can't tell you, monster. I can't betray mamma."

The Doctor pressed his lips. This had to end. Ada deserved better and she deserved the truth.

He sighed taking Ada's hand.

"Ada, come with us," He said. "You need to know the truth." The Doctor replied grimly.

Ada frowned confused but took his hand and followed him and Clara.
