Chapter 10 Recruits Part 1

Night fell over Republic City, Connor stood on one of the shrine miniature temples, and he looked over the horizon at the city watching the lights that illuminated it. He sighed crossing his arms, recalling the times he amazing viewings of the urban centers such as Boston, New York and Pennsylvania though you had to belong to certain components of these websites just to find that sort of sight that he envisioned.

After putting Korra to rest in one of the rooms, he and Tenzin had a very long discussion talk. After much debate, bickering, and some shouting, Tenzin lifted Connors ban from the Air Temple Island, furthermore the Native American was free to act as he pleased on the Island on a shape that he watched Korra not go anywhere near pro-bending matches.

Though, he wanted to allege that he had other priorities to cover, he progressed to another proposition, he would make this an operation of base whenever he demanded to restore, restock or just needed to unwind with the condition watching over Korra's every move.

The terms were met moreover agreed.

He was about to retire for the night when he suddenly heard grunting noises not too far from him. The native already had his suspicions on the person it already was; then again, it could not hurt to see what was bothering her.

"Come on, AIR BEND!" Korra eyes twitched involuntarily as she tried to air bend, it was frustrating work, and she let out a yell setting a piece of wire line as well as a newspaper on fire.

Nagoya raised her head lazily to see what its master was doing, and then placed it back down to rest. Korra growled in frustration, "What's wrong with me? I mastered the other three, why can't I master Air bending?"

"You cannot push things to your time Korra; it will take place on its own." Connor walked up to her.

"Humph!" She passed over her arms underneath her chest, giving the Assassin the cold shoulder, "I don't understand how you can make out any better beside you're no bender!"

Narrowing his eyes, he moved behind the girl wrapping his arms to her arms while taking hold of the wrist area, luckily it was dark for Korra was tomato red when she felt his tender touch.

"Do exactly like I do." He stated, "Every movement."

"What, why?"

"Just do it." He replied, "Keep your palms ready as well"

Shrugging, she behaved every bit he pronounced, now he began to move, slipping his feet along the ground with Korra's as they struck in unison. Korea was really confused what Connor was getting along, all they were doing was moving with the basic hand movement and spinning round a few times and a whole deal of switching.

"I may possess limited knowledge of this world, but I see the elements meanings are. You have mastered three elements and each component represents a part of you…"

Korra listened carefully to what Connor had to say maybe what he said might be the key to finally unlocking her air bending. They moved gracefully as they hunkered down on a single leg until their thighs were parallel to the earth and the other foot was extending nearly touching the soil, one of her hands was in the chamber as the other was stretched out.

"Close your hand, make a fist."

She did exactly as she was told

"Fire: the element of power. You've seem to be very potent, strong willed and able to bring down anyone that comes your way, when you fire bend you let out all this vitality that was inside you to strike fear into the hearts of your enemies."

They went again into a different posture with the lead foot oriented slightly to its opposite position with the left foot gravitates right; vice versa and the rear foot is most aligned with it. The rear knee is bent inward toward the breakwater and the front knee is flexed, then Connor had the Avatar close both her men, holding them in front of her but a bit ajar.

"Earth: the element of substance you are haunting as well as enduring, sometimes you tend to watch and analyze your opponents for the instant, waiting for them to move at the correct instant when they are least expecting a battle. This makes you dangerous and sneaky as an Assassin who wields his/her blade to protect the innocent from harm when enemies least see it coming."

Moving into another position, the two teenagers squats on one leg until the thigh is parallel to the ground and extends the other leg out to the side. Both bases are parallel and pointing forward, relative to the torso with one hand behind their backs and the other in a chopping position only the palm was facing inward.

"Water: element of variety. You are ready to switch tactics when fighting, however, when it comes to change your habits, you are slow uncooperative and sometimes too stubborn. You have to let nature take its course or this case your training to take its course in order for you to succeed moreover, if you don't not it will lead you to frustration."

Eventually, they changed for the last time lifting their legs to maximum height with Korra's left arm above their heads making an angle and the right arm extended with an open palm as Connor hand still held on to her wrist.

"Air the element of freedom…"

'Here it comes.' She thought

"You feel imprisoned since you are not allowed to move freely as you wish, you can overcome this by not focusing your mind on the matter at hand. Detach yourself from this captivity and you shall be able to release yourself from the torment of being watched."

They regained stance and Korea found herself desiring to be in Connor warmth, wait a minute? She cast out those thoughts from her head those two only known each other for a good span of months and already she starting to develop this urge, must be her hormones, so she believed.

"Where did you learn moves like those Connor?" She asked crossing her arms

"You didn't suppose I spent a year of doing nothing, now did you?"

Before she could reply an announcer was heard not too far away from them, "Good Evening Repbulic City, we're coming to you live from the Pro-bending arena."

She twisted her body to tune in the radio station, "… Tonight where the best in the cosmos come to get their place in the upcoming champion tournament…"

She darted a look at the Native American smiling, "Care to join me?"

Counting at the sky, then at her, he shrugged, "I was dying to go to bed, but I think spending a few more hours awake couldn't kill me."

They made their on top of another lookalike shrine as they listen to the radio. Korea was very energized about this match, on the other hand Connor could care less as long as he held his end of the bargain which was to keep Korea away from the Pro-bending arena. Tenzin never said anything about her listen to the main fight event, and then he figured why not.

30 minutes into fight Korra was almost leaning over the edge with excitement of the match, Connor was laying along the roof with his hands behind his head and leg on his raised knee listening intently to the announcer describing this person Mako fight.

"This Mako has got moxie…" He proclaimed, "He advances, fire two quick stabs! Jumo is back to zone three! Jumo is backing up to the edge of the ring, the question now is can he hold on?"

Korra grin grew wider an wider as she listened to the fight, not only that three White Lotus members were also the intrigue as they huddled closer to the radio. But as the announcer was about to announce the climax of the battle, the radio suddenly cuts away.

Korra twitched, Connor let out a sigh, he already knew who cut the radio off, it was just a matter of seconds before the person cried out her figure.

"Korra come down here, please!"

Right on cue too.

Korea popped her head to see Tenzin with an angry stare written in his expression, the three White lotus members jumped back when they saw the Avatar face. She held on to the edge of the mini temple like building, flipping herself to her feet.

"You shut it off at the best part!"

"I remembered I made myself clear: I don't want you listening to this distracting nonsense!"

Korra walked up to him to protest but another voice interjected for her, "Technically Tenzin you said she couldn't watch a match, you never said anything about listening to a match."

Tenzin right eye twitched as he cranked his neck towards the Assassin who was leaning against the mainstay with his arms folded and leg on the support shaft, "Your not helping..."

"Also, it's their radio!" She stated

He growled "You… you know what I meant!" He poked his finger into her shoulder, "Anyway… sho-shouldn't you be in bed by now!"

Whipping his robe at her, the air current caused her hair and clothing to flap for the instant, she sighed placing her hands along her hips.

"He'll get over it." Connor stated, he smothered a yawn, "See you tomorrow."

The following daytime

Connor and Sattar said their goodbyes, holding the ferry back to the urban center. The Native Assassin had already said he will return by late afternoon close to the evening depending how his mission.

Korra embraced stunning the Assassin a lot moreover, he returned it, Tenzin quirked an eyebrow as the two teenagers parted. Korra whispered something in his ear as he nodded in approval, they got onto the ferry leaving the island.

The native Assassin was hunched over the railing of the ferry looking at the fading island, Sater came up nudging him with his shoulder. Connor looked at him with a curious gaze, "What?"

Sattar smiled deviously at him, "I saw what you did last night, make your move before she is claimed."

Connor punched him in the arm, while his friend only laughed at him as his face flushed red. Connor muttered something in his native tongue.

Back on the island the young Avatar watched as the ferry got smaller and smaller, she had a neutral face on yet deep down, she secretly missed the warmth of Connor on her despite what he was trying to teach last night.

Tenzin noticed this placing a hand on her shoulder, "Is everything all right Korra?"

She exhaled softly, "Yes…" 'I think…' She wasn't too sure herself, being around Connor was more than dull, it was interesting to be around him to say the least unless you call being shot interesting. Anyway, there was something about him that makes someone want to keep away from him on the other hand, he was a mysterious young lad with an interesting back story. That should peak anyone's curiosity to learn more about him, just talk to the guy.

"Korra has a crush on Connor!" Sang Ikki, "Korra has a crush on Connor!"

"What!" The tan's girl's face turned a dark red as she try to defend herself from the statement, "I do not have a crush on him, we barely know each other!"

"It's written all over your face." Ikki countered, "Why is it that every time someone mentions Connor you start to blush? Is Connor attracted to you? Do the two of you plan to get married someday?"

The more Ikki asked her ridiculous question, the more Korra blushed red.

Tenzin stroked his goatee pondering if there was a mutual attraction between them, so far the only thing he came up to mind was that they were hothead when they wanted to be, and sure enough aggressive.

He'll have to keep a close eye on these, in case there was an attraction.

Water Bay, 20 minutes later

All was quiet at the Assassin's abandon warehouse base a few of them was sent by Altaïr to fetch food and water, they could go so long without food. Ezio was polishing his weapons, making sure they were clean and ready for use for battle.

Altaïr paced back and forth, forth and back, Ezio doesn't look up at the other Assassin as he grumbled in annoyance under breath, "Altaïr, would you smettere di farlo stimolazione?"

"What?" He stopped to look at the other Assassin

"Could you stop that pacing, it's driving me pazzesco!" He said standing up sheathing his sword

"Whatever that means. I won't stop, we haven't received word from neither, Connor nor Sattar."

"I'm sure they are fine."

"How would you know?"

"I go with my instincts, alright besides, let them walk around the city to see if anything is going on or let him see his lover."

"From what I understand, Amon's forces get stronger with each passing day and we have not once recruited anyone and we are only about a few dozens Assassin versus a legion of Equalist! We have no time to waste with this love affair, if that's what you want to call it." Altaïr spat out

Ezio was about to speak when a pattern knock came from the entrance, one Ezio men answered,
"Pass phrase."

It wasn't a question it was statement.

"Laa shay'a waqi'un moutlaq bale kouloun moumkine."

"Accepted welcome back Connor." He said, opening the doors to the warehouse

Connor and Sattar walked in as they were approached by Altaïr and Ezio, usually when the two of them walked together it meant that they had to talk about something.

"We have to talk about recruits." Ezio said "We must expand for the Brother Hood's sake, for if we don't and face this Equalist leader head on we shall surely die with our cause in vain."

"I'm aware of that. And I think we found our first four recruits." He stated

Altaïr was in surprise, "Oh really, then do it tell."

Connor had a smile on his lips, "Have you ever heard of Pro-bending?"
