Chapter 10
Disclaimer: I don't own the Vampire Diaries. I'm just borrowing.
Note: Previously, in "Blood on the Moon," Caroline meets Klaus' sister, Rebekah, and another blonde vampire named Lexi, who tells them that she plans to seduce Kol in an attempt to stop him from harming any more innocent humans.
Hello, everyone! I put this story on hiatus due to a lack of inspiration, as well as a very demanding real life. But, after reading the last chapter again, I'll go ahead with the next chapter. No spoilers, just relax and enjoy what I have.
Rousseau's – Later…
There seemed to be quite a crowd at the bar that evening as Lexi sat on the stool, casually sipping the drink her server had given her. She saw the single human men staring at her as they walked by, obviously enthralled by her beauty. Must be the little black number I'm wearing, or the perfume. The saleswoman I purchased them from did tell me that I'd turn the heads of whatever man I run into. Of course, I'm here for just one man in particular, and he sees me, he's not going to know what to do with himself.
As she continued to sip from the drink, her senses picked up the scent she had been waiting for. Perfect, the fly has entered the spider's lair. Well, time to turn on the charm. She turned around in her stool and when she saw Kol, she smiled at him, her brown eyes gleaming.
"Good evening, handsome."
Kol returned her smile. "Good evening, darling." He lifted her hand and kissed her knuckles. "I don't think I've ever seen you around here before."
"I just got here yesterday," said Lexi. "I've always wanted to see New Orleans, so I purchased a ticket and here I am." She licked her lips and added, "By the way, I'm Alexia Branson, but my friends call me Lexi. What's your name?"
"Kol Mikaelson. It's a pleasure to meet you, Alexia." He caressed her cheek with his free hand, admiring her beauty and wondering why someone like her didn't have a man in her life. Perhaps if I wasn't so fixated on my mission to find and kill Detective Forbes, I would rectify that in a heartbeat.
After a moment of silence, Lexi said, "Care to join me in a drink? They have the best wine here."
Kol wanted to say no, but when was he going to get a chance at finding such a beautiful woman like this again? "Don't mind if I do. A gentleman never denies a lady her request."
Lexi smiled and waited until he was seated to summon the waiter. So far, Kol was so enthralled by her, he didn't suspect that she was really doing this to distract him. It's such a shame that I have to deceive him like this. He's definitely easy on the eyes and it's been so long since I was in a man's company.
The waiter returned and not taking her eyes off Kol, Lexi ordered a fresh bottle of wine for them to share. Once the man was gone, Kol lifted her hand again, kissing it again. Shit, what was it about this creature that was so alluring? He tried to tell himself that she was just like the other women he encountered, but none of them could hold a candle to Lexi.
"So, what made you decide to come after me when you could have any man in the world?"
His question threw her. Why the hell is he asking something like that? Deciding not to worry about it, she ran a finger down the sleeve of his shirt. "Maybe it's because no other man is as mysterious and fun loving as you, Kol Mikaelson." She then grabbed his face with her hands. "In fact, how about I show you what I think about you?"
Kol never got to reply because Lexi captured his lips with hers in a deep and passionate kiss that had enough heat behind it to set the entire bar on fire. Kol returned the kiss and pulled her closer to him. Shit, this woman sure knew how to drive a point home. Lexi smiled against his lips and deepened the kiss before pulling away and looking into his eyes.
"Is that proof enough for you?"
"Oh, it's definitely proof enough." Kol's look changed. "Don't think I can't see through you, darling, because I can. My brothers sent you to distract me, didn't they? They want you to make me forget my mission, don't they?"
Lexi stood her ground. "So what if I am distracting you? You can't go around hurting innocent humans, Kol. Your brothers are the protectors of this city and as long as they're here, there's no way in hell that you're going to get away with what you're doing."
"We shall see about that, Alexia, we shall see."
Not giving Lexi an opportunity to reply, he vamp sped out of the bar. After he was gone, Klaus came out of where he had been hiding, along with Caroline. They had kept themselves well out of Kol's sight and scent range and had heard everything that had gone down. Lexi looked at them once they were close enough.
"Well, it was working until he saw through my ruse," she said. "Kind of a shame, really. I was starting to like him."
"It was a valiant effort, love," said Klaus. "This just means we have to try harder."
Caroline nodded. "I agree with Klaus. Just because your plan failed doesn't mean we should give up."
Lexi poured some wine into her glass and chugged it down. "So, what's our Plan B?"
Klaus took out his cell phone and dialed Rebekah's number. "Relax, loves, I'm working on that right now." He waited until he heard his sister's voice on the end before he said, "Rebekah, it's Nik. Alexia's little seduction plan didn't work. We're going to need a Plan B."
"I had a feeling we would," she replied. "But, don't worry, I'll take care of it. Trust me, if anyone can take our maniac brother of us on, it'll be me. Elijah isn't the only one who knows a witch. Let's just say a certain Sophie Deveraux owes me a few favors."
Klaus nodded, knowing exactly who his sister was referring to. Sophie Deveraux was one of the many witches who had shops in the Quarter, as well as one of Amelia's many friends. "Good, because Amelia is in a delicate condition and shouldn't overexert herself with her magic."
"I'll give Sophie a call as soon as I get off the phone with you," said Rebekah. "We'll defeat Kol yet, Nik. He's going to have to learn that you have to face the consequences of your actions. And tell Alexia not to lose heart. There is a silver lining on this particular cloud."
Caroline listened to their conversation and joined Lexi at the bar. She thought about Jessica, who was still at Elijah's. She hoped that Sophie Deveraux was able to help them, mostly because the girl's safety was riding on this, as well as her own.
Note: I'll end Chapter 10 here. Don't worry, Plan B will work, and I just might make Kol and Lexi a couple before this story is over. Just because their first encounter failed doesn't mean they won't be together. Stay tuned!
