Lots of love, Amateur Angel
Silence, the musing, the eloquent and dramatic speech I had been putting together vanished. I stood there staring at him, with wide eyes and a slightly part mouth.
Blinking I snapped my jaw. Say something.
"Come in." He spoke as his hand gripped the wooden door firmly. I walked in, it was perfectly Sesshomaru. A desk towards the back of the room, shelves lined the back wall. It was impeccably clean. Papers and writing utensils perfectly symmetrically alined on his desk. Padding on the dark wooden floor with bare feet.
I turned to look over my shoulder at him, he had shut the door. He looked at me as he walked beside me.
"Sit" He gestured at the sitting table. Complying I sat down, haloing my kimono around me.
Looking up at him, expecting him to sit on the other end of the table. He walked to his desk and sat down.
Sighing, reigning in the rising anger. Would nothing be simple, easy with him even a damned conversation? Looking out the giant windows that lined, soldiers ran around in the courtyard below. The clang of swords, pull of bows drifted to the open windows as they trained below.
"My lord, will you give me the honour of your presence?" Irritatedly speaking.
"You cannot leave." Answering without even looking up at him from his writing. My mouth gapped open I wanted to scream and shout and throw the damned kettle that sat on the table at his head.
Taking a deep breath, collecting my thoughts I spoke. " Cannot? That seems like a command . I believe you forget yourself, my lord, I am not your subject."
He sighed and looked up at me. " The West is now your home."
Standing up, I glared at him. " Home, why do you know of a home? From all that I have witnessed and heard, you have not even known a home. Was the open ever-changing forest your home. My Lord." I spat at him angrily as I slammed my hands on his desk.
Rising he came to stand in front of me, looking down at me. Physically I was at a disadvantage but I was not someone that would be looked down at.
" I have known a home, Kagome. My home was not of four walls and a roof, my home laughed and wove happiness all around her." He spoke as he stepped closer to me. Instinctively I stepped back. I had become mesmerized as my name rolled of his lips. The way it sounded coming from him.
He had spoken in past tense he must be speaking of Rin. " If you know let me go, I don't know what you've caught me into but I want no part of this. " I spoke placing my hands flat against his chest, stepping closer.
"I will not allow the west to fall because you choose to be away from me." He spoke leaning down.
" The west? I promise you I will never enter the west again. The west will be fine without me in it." Speaking as I looked down where my hands were. Quickly pulling them back as though I had been shocked.
There was this pull. It felt as though when you hovered two magnets near each other and they pulled to be together.
" Have you not the slightest idea of what is going on? Of what you have begun?'" He asked as he loomed over me, searching my eyes.
" Was it my screaming or the hitting that lead you to the conclusion of my unawareness?" Sarcastically answering. Begun I had not begun anything it as him that came to me. It was him that was all half dressed in a forest, mumbling my name. Sure I wasn't an innocent party in this but I shouldn't be suffering this much more a short make out session.
" Kagome." He sighed as placed his hand on the bridge of his nose, his forehead slightly wrinkled. The way he spoke my name, caught the entirety of my attention.
" You called me, you summoned me to Inuyasha's forest. I was in the west. " He spoke closing the distance between us. I stepped back.
" No, I didn't." Answering hastily as continued to move toward me. I didn't it had been a year since I had last seen him.
" Earlier that summoned me, I was in the West when I felt the pull." He spoke , as his words felt as though ice water washing over me. The roar, the golden light, realization dawning on me I looked up at him with wide eyes.
"I did this?" Whispering , but what had I done.
He placed his hand on my cheek caressing it. " You started this and we must complete it." Speaking softly with sparking eyes.
I stepped back putting more distance between us only to hit the window sill. " What, what did start because from my point of view all I ended up was with a scar and sour ending to a kiss." My voice rising as I spoke. Kiss was a decent way of putting what had happened with us.
" You cannot run from this, it cannot be undone. The mating has begun, the pull your feeling will continue to grow to force us to complete the ritual." Speaking as he stepped closer, there was look in his eyes. The way he looked at me made my heart drop. Slipping out from under his arm I put up my hands as I stepped backwards away from him.
" I need you to give me space, I can't think ,I can't breathe with you look at me like that," I spoke stepping away from him. I can't do this I was hearing what he was saying and the situation was beginning to dawn on me from what I knew about mating from my friends.
"Kagome.." He began, ignoring him I put more distance between him. Something hit the back of my calfs and I fell backwards.
His hand shot out grabbing my hand, pulling me flush with him. I closed my eyes I was too close I was on the verge of having a breakdown.
"I need air I can't breathe," I spoke stepping away from him. Glaring at the table that had made me fall.
I walked toward the door, I heard him behind me. " Just give me some space, I need to think without you. " Speaking as he moved toward me.
I didn't wait to see if he followed, quickly stepping out of the door. Moving slowly at first and then faster and faster. Ignoring the people in the halls , the looks they gave me.
Breathless I leaned against a wall gasping for air. I couldn't stop seeing his face, his stupid beautiful face. The way he looked at me, a feeling began to blossom inside me. Smothering the feeling I moved forward.
Following the sound of running water, I had made it back to the family wing. Stepping off the wooden corridor onto the lush cool grass, I looked up at the sky. The sun was high in the sky, a sparse cloud here and there.
Padding forward I walked into the lazily moving water. Breathing a sigh of relief as the cool water moved around weighing down the kimono. Wading in waist deep.
What had you gotten yourself into Kagome? Was normality going to ever be a part of my life? After being stretched and torn apart my life had found a sliver of normality. I had come to terms of what why life was now without the jewel hunt, without my life to return back to.
Looking down as something touched my foot. Rainbow koi swam around me. Breathing deeply, looking around at the garden
A beautifully twisted Japanese maple was one corner of the garden, bright orange leaves illuminated in the sun. A swing hung from a thick branch. A violet wisteria tree dropped violet flowers into the water. There was river rocks lining either side of the lazy river. A red wooden bridge that starkly stood out against all the green. However what caught all the attention was the grand cherry blossom that was taller than the surrounding building.
There were ferns and all sorts of flowers. Archways and sitting areas through out. I had completely ignored this when I had walked through with Akira.
"You're not attempting to kill yourself, right?" Spoke a perky voice, I looked up path Akira as she walked toward me.
"It will allow me to escape Sesshomaru, it may be an option to consider." Speaking as I moved out of the water.
Akira extended her hand toward me and I took as I slipped on the rocks coming out. "Death doesn't solve anything it just makes things harder for the living." Akira offhandedly spoke as she looked at two soldiers walking. " Hey, back to training you two." She shouted, the two soldiers looked at her and quickly turned back the way they came from.
" I saw you running out of Sesshomaru's study, I decided to talk Sesshomaru down and now I am here." She smiled at me. She had once again stood between me and Sesshomaru, she was becoming my saviour.
" You saw that, huh?" Asking as I attempted to ring out the kimono, which was probably not the way expensive kimonos were supposed to be handled or for that matter be covered in river water.
" The great Shikon Jewel Miko, running from the great and terrible Lord of the West. This is what stories are made of Kagome." She laughed and I couldn't help it and I laughed with her. Tears coming to my eyes I laughed with her.
" Now come on, let's get you out of these clothes before Sora sees you and begins to tell you about how unladylike it is." She smiled, holding my hands as were walked through the garden back towards the rooms.
Walking though the barrier. I stopped, Akira turned and looked at me. "What is it?" She asked looking around.
"There's a barrier here?" Asking as I stood in the middle of it.
" Yes, that is a protective barrier it allows certain people in the family and very few others. Anyone allowed to cross that would have to certainly have unwavering loyalty. No one would be able to cross that barrier with any holy power or demon power. It has been reinforced with the youkai of every Inu No Taisho." She spoke as she grabbed an apple from a bowl.
Shrugging I followed her up the stairs. The kimono weighed a ton. We walked into what was beginning to be 'my' room.
"This is your bedroom, I'll show you around and I am sure I will be better at explaining what is going on." She smiled walking to the other door that I had yet to explore on the painted wall. One door was the bath, walking in I was happily surprised.
Clothes of all different fabric, colours and patterns lined the wall. Everything was impeccably organized. Obis, oblilge, obijime, obidome all there. Akira opened drawers revealing jewelry, hairpins and what not.
"I'll wait just outside, while you change." She smiled shutting the door behind her. Choosing a pale yellow cotton kimono I changed. Stripping the wet clothes off I looked at the wounds on my waist they were healing well. Scabbed over but slightly red.
Akira was on the bed sitting, smiling I walked out to her. "How about we walk the grounds, I'll give you the grand tour, have lunch and I can answer whatever questions you have." She suggested.
"Sure." Akira seemed to be the easier person to get answers from than Sesshomaru.
We walked out of the room. " There is just the three of us here." we walked away from the stairs. "The upper floor has all the rooms in the family wing."We passed rooms and Akira opened doors just popping my head to see inside. Most were just as extravagantly decorated as mine and as large. Reaching the wall opposite to the stairs Akira opened a door in the corner. " This is my room, it faces the city."
There was a grand white bed, a painting of family hung on a wall. A suit of armour in a corner. " That was my father's" She explained as she ran her hands over it.
We continued on our way. Stopping at the family kitchen, to grab snacks. The family wing was the only two levelled building. All the other wings were one they were broken into by status there was a wing for visiting lords and ladies and so on. Gardens were skewed around all the wings. We walked closer to Sesshomaru''s office. Akira animately explained and showed rooms.
There were sitting rooms for ladies and entertain rooms. We sat down in an entertaining room and maids opened the sliding doors to reveal a garden on the other side. We ate our lunch and sipped tea.
"I have talked long enough now ask me anything you want to know." Akira smiled as she leaned back
"What is a mating, I am beginning to form an idea as to what it is?" Asking as a silver head of hair caught my eye across the garden. Looking back it wasn't there.
" Mating is different for every species but for most it is broken down into three parts courting, marking, consummation. Sometimes the courting is entirely skipped over as such as in our case. Mating in itself is a rarity , most demons bind through a binding ritual and refer to each other as mates." She smiled.
"Any demon can go around biting women and be mated." Sarcastically I asked that couldn't be the case, could it?
" No, mating is much deeper it is the merging of souls. The mark will not take hold if the two are incompatible. For a mating mark to take hold, two souls are equal in every single way. A mark cannot take hold unless both souls crave each other. "
