A.N What's this? A Chapter you say?
Me: Sorry for the wait my friends!
Al: I'd much rather you waited longer.
Raven: Agreed.
Rose: Well I don't! I win a bet against Scorp.
Scorpius: *grumbles and hands over coins*
Raven: What was this bet about?
Rose: Uh...about the DISCLAIMER: ANYTHING YOU RECOGNIZE BELONGS TO J.K ROWLING!
Al: That was a stupid bet.
Raven: Yea, Scorp. I didn't know you were that stupid.
Scorpius: Well, your face is stupid!
Raven: You really know how to flatter a girl.
Rose: He really does *swoons*
Raven: Uh-Rose? Rose? ROSE?
Scorpius: OH NO! I KILLED HER! CPR!
Raven: No! Wait!
Al: How did you even know about that?
Chapter 10: Secrets, Balls and Quidditch
Rose sat in the hospital Wing with Scorpius, Alex and Damian. She stared at Al worriedly, wondering why he had thrown up. Maybe from potions or something? Or was it him accidentally eating from Uncle Fred and Uncle George's skiving snackboxes?
Raven had run into the Common Room with Al's lunch all over her while yelling out about him in the Hospital Wing. It would certainly have been funny if it had been someone else. She was pushed into the shower before calming down and telling Rose what happened.
Rose immediately told everyone else while Raven left to the kitchens to get some food for them all. As Raven left, she kept on smelling herself to make sure the throw up smell wasn't there.
In short, everyone was waiting in the Hospital Wing with an unconscious Al while Raven went to get some food.
Admittedly Rose felt a bit peeved from the before incident with Raven and Hugo. She didn't know herself why she had gone after Raven, shouting at her trying to pick a fight. It just bothered her as it always did when anyone was romantically involved with Hugo.
Back to the moment, Madam Pomfrey, quite an old witch the age of Rose's grandparents, came over to their bed.
"Out of the way! Mr. Potter needs to drink up this potion!" She told them, rushing through.
The old witch held a small bottle with a stranger smell coming from it. Rose leapt away from the bed, Damian simply moved his chair while reading a book and Alex looked up from his homework. Scorpious though, looked like Al was on his death-bed.
Madam Pomfrey waved the potion under Al's nose. Al's eyes fluttered open and he groaned at the bright lights of the hospital wing. Scorpius just about leapt on Al had the medi-witch not glared at him.
"Up Mr. Potter. You need to drink this potion."
Al suddenly sat up straight, eyes wide as he looked around at everyone. Madam Pomfrey handed the potion to him and walked away to another student needing her aid.
"What happened?" Alex asked.
"Did you drink a potion?" Rose asked.
"YOU ARE ALIVE!" Scorpius shouted.
"Guys, I'm sure he'll tell us if we all calm down." Damian stated calmly.
"CALM DOWN?! CALM DOWN?! AL WAS BASICALLY ON HIS DEATH BED!" Scorpius yelled.
The hospital was quiet and everyone was staring at Scorpius. Damian smacked a hand to his face at the outburst.
"Scorp, he just threw up on Raven and fainted." Alex told him logically.
Rose, Damian and Al stared at him in surprise. Though Al's was a different reason as he started to show now.
"Did that really happen?" he groaned, pulling his hair as he fell back in the bed.
"Uh yea. Lucky no one was around to see that." Alex said.
"Raven was around." Al muttered.
No one heard him except Rose who was right beside him. She gave him a raised eyebrow before Damian told Al to drink the potion. The five chatted for a bit until the doors burst open and Raven's laughter could be heard.
There was Raven Knight, standing with Luke Blackwood. Both were grinning at each other, or Raven was while Luke had an awkward smile with a tinge of red on his cheeks. They were both carrying food.
Rose noted that Al's eyes darkened at the sight and made a mental note to ask him about it later. She thanked Merlin for the book about reading people's expressions. It had gotten her quite far, except for the point where she thought she was right with certain things when she wasn't.
"I got to go Raven." Luke stated, setting down the food on a tray. "Bye."
"Okay! Bye Lukie!" she said, smirking.
Luke scowled, obviously not liking the nickname as he walked off. Raven put the rest of the food on the tray and carried it over to them.
"Hey guys! I got the food stuff." Raven grinned. "Oh is Al up? Hey Ally-cat!"
"Glad to be finally noticed." Al stated.
Raven gave him a funny look as did Damian and Rose while the rest dug into the food. Raven simply shrugged, though a bit put off by Al's tone.
"You hungry?" she asked him.
"No." Al said.
"Aren't you though? After all, you did empty out your stomach onto Raven." Damian told him.
"Yea, but the potion filled me up." Al shrugged.
"If you say so." Rose frowned.
"I'm fine! Really!" Al sighed, annoyed.
Thankfully, before a fight could ensue Alex started on about Quidditch to Raven. He informed her about missing try-outs which everyone except for Rose found odd.
Raven seemed rather annoyed herself and looked around for a distraction, locking eyes with Al expected him to send her a grin or a knowing look, but he simply looked away. Raven frowned at this action before floating away into her dream land.
"I see you're done your potion. Mr. Potter, I believe the faint came from sort of shock while the throw up was only an upset stomach." Madam Pomfrey told them, coming back.
"Can I go now?" Al asked.
"Well, since you are all fine I suppose you could, even if I'd rather you not." Madam Pomfrey sighed.
She then walked away muttering 'stupid new rules' and 'don't know how to care for children'.
The six soon headed out if the Hospital Wing and headed towards the Common Room once again. Rose however, held Al back. The others gave her a questioning glance.
"Go on ahead, I just need to talk to him about something." she told them.
Once they were gone, Rose looked at Al who stared at her questionably. Rose motioned Al to start walking.
"Do you fancy Raven?" She asked bluntly.
"Really Rose?" Al laughed. "Why would I fancy my best mate? She seems pretty interested in Blackwood anyways."
"It isn't impossible and they're just friends. Plus, you didn't seem too happy about it." Rose pointed out.
The two had stopped at a window and Al looked outside, seeing the lake. He sighed, feeling rather stressed with the situation. He didn't love Raven, as a mate yes, but a part of him wanted more. He ran a hand through his hair. Along with the point they had already noticed. Merlin, was he not good at keeping anything a secret?
"I just don't want to lose one of my best mates." Al told her, frustrated.
Rose had a feeling he wasn't talking about Raven's friendship with Luke Blackwood. She put a hand on his arm, attempting to be comforting. Al sighed and looked down.
"Yes Rose. I fancy my best mate."
Rose stared at him, a part of her jumping around for joy at her rightness. She had guessed before, consulting with Scorpius and Damian. Rose needed to speak to Al's other best-best mate and a smart person. Not that Scorpius wasn't smart, he was a bit of an...impulsive person.
Rose stayed calm though, showing him a small smile. She then hugged him and he slowly hugged back in surprise. A part of Al thought Rose would beat him to death with a book.
"So you're fine with it?" Al questioned.
"Yep."
"Oh."
"Did you think I would kill you?"
"Well..."
"What's this about killing cousins?" a voice asked, amused.
James and Fred were walking down the hall, grinning at them. Fred was playing with his wand, casting out sparks while James had his hands in his pockets.
"It's nothing." Rose muttered.
"Right." Fred said.
"Rose? If you see Raven, tell her I need her in front of the Gryffindor Common Room at six." James told them.
"Why?" Al asked curiously.
"Oh yea! You need a reason. Only way to get her." Fred smirked.
James nodded and Al frowned at them. Was he going to ask her out? To be his girlfriend? Al started to panic. Rose noticed and muttered to him,
"Calm down Al."
James looked at Al, smirked, then both Fred and James walked away. They were discussing some sort of prank.
"Why do they need Raven?" Al asked.
"I don't know, but we could ask her." Rose replied calmly.
With that, both headed towards the Gryffindor Common Room quickly. They found Raven sitting in a chair, her legs flung over the arm of it lazily.
"Raven, James and Fred wanted to meet you outside at six." Rose informed her.
Raven's face formed into a frown, wondering what could be going on. She looked at them questionably but they sent the same looks back.
Rose and Al started on an essay while Scorpius was playing exploding snap with Damian and Alex. Raven just fell asleep, having nothing to do.
The clock above the fireplace showed it was dinner so everyone packed up. Al feebly attempted to wake Raven up, but failed. Upon seeing this, Rose took out her wand with a smirk.
Raven's P.O.V.
I was dreaming, I had to be.
Right in front of me was the biggest Shepard's Pie I have ever seen.
A fork appeared in my hand and I rushed towards the pie.
When I just about reached it, familiar green eyes met my face.
Al was standing in front of my Pie!
"Raven, we have to go." he said.
"Go away."
"We have to get to dinner."
"Yea, I know. It's right behind you."
"What?"
Al frowned, confused.
"It is right behind you."
"Uh...Scorpius is right behind me."
Did he think the Shepard's Pie was Scorpius? What?
Then the pie vanished and red came into my vision. Also, people. People upside down. I looked at them all, must have been dreaming then.
"Why are you upside down?" I asked.
Did Scorpius do a spell wrong? Or Alex? It was likely one of them. Though Scorpius had the tendency to set things on fire or blast water at people by accident.
"Raven, you're the one upside down." Damian told me cautiously as if I'd go crazy.
Pfft. Why would I go crazy? I wouldn't kill him or severely injure him just because I'm- wait, he said upside down didn't he? Right. Anger mode on. Check-a-doodles.
"SWEET CIRCE! WHY AM I UPSIDE DOWN?! WHOEVER DID THIS WILL PAY! HERE THAT? PAY!" I screamed.
Then I noticed the boy's red faces and looked up. Merlin's Pants. I had to wear a skirt didn't I? Stupid school rules. If I had my way, we would all wear trousers. Much more relaxing. Yes? Back to the point I suppose.
Suddenly I dropped down just as I held the skirt closely to my legs. Whoever it was, I'm going to kill them. Actually, I'd be sent to Azkaban so I'm going to just get a Hippogriph to attack them. After feeding them a potion and chopping them up, then putting them through a-
Stop your dark thoughts Raven, it's a very bad thing.
Yes, mum.
Did I just call myself mum?
...That's really weird.
And utterly gross.
My face has been on the ground for a while now, maybe I should look up? I did and...I saw everyone staring at me.
"Ok, who did that?" I asked.
Everyone pointed at Rose.
She began to back away slowly.
"Now, now Raven. I know your mad but-" she started.
I think I let out some beast-like roar causing her to whirl around and start running.
I quickly ran after her, holding up a pillow to beat her with.
I'm sure my parents are so proud to have me as their child.
So I guess Rose is too smart for her own good because she ran into the Great Hall. Rose knows of course about my attention hating thing.
So she ran into the Great Hall.
Of course.
I waited outside, taking deep breaths while people stared at me.
I guess I did look a bit strange with my disheveled hair, a pillow in hand and crazed look. Just a bit though.
When I entered our wonderful dining hall, I found my seat across from Rose. I was glaring at her, while she simply smiled innocently. Bloody Weasley.
Fortunately for Rose, we had Shepard's Pie on the table. This meant my anger went out the door. At least for now.
I saw Rose's shoulders relax, meaning I had a calm look on my face. Or at least as calm as I can look at all.
It was after dinner and desserts were about to appear. A lot of my other friends had arrived before that and the Great Hall was filled up. The thing that happened however, was Headmaster McGonagall standing up.
Of course since this was rather out of the ordinary, she didn't even need to ask for silence as everyone looked at her curiously.
"I see you are all curious on why I am standing up. I have an announcement." She said.
Curious and questioning whispers flew through the Great Hall quickly. I looked at Rose, she shrugged at me. So a prefect didn't know.
"Silence." McGonagall called.
Immediately the Students were all quiet. I wish I had that gift. To shut everyone up with one word. It would be awesome.
"As you all know from the notice on your Common Room board we will have a Winter's Ball."
A Winter's Ball? When did that even come up? I didn't know we even had them. People started to whisper about it, most didn't seem the least bit surprised.
I just don't know these things.
"That is of course, for fourth years and up unless a younger student is asked. Now, for the younger years you will be having a party instead."
I wish I was a little kid.
Balls are stupid and I hate dresses.
At parties you get candy but at Balls you get fancy food.
I do hope you see where I am coming from.
Maybe I can sneak into the party?
"We will also hope no older students sneak into the party."
In other words she'll have security.
Well, that plan went out the window.
"Both will take place on Christmas day."
About three weeks from now.
Joy.
Three weeks of utter pain, drama and death.
By pain I mean a girl sobbing or a boy moping because someone they like got asked out. By drama I mean Fred asked out his girlfriend's twin and the two are then in a fight (Happened in my third year). By death I mean getting attacked by a girl because you talked to a boy they like.
Yes. I'm sure those will be the best weeks of my life.
Here I am waiting outside for James and Fred, or at least one of them. They are ten minutes late.
When I find them, I'll kill them.
After all, they were the ones who set the time, right?
I heard a shuffle of footsteps and whirled around.
Nothing was there.
Ok, calm down Raven.
You're just in a...dark, dark, dark hallway. With dimly lit torches. Heh Heh. Yea.
Not like anyone will kidnap you.
Suddenly, I felt a hand over my mouth, a muttered 'stupefy' and me going into unconscious.
Point Taken.
"Here, I'll do it." a voice said in the distance. "Finite Incantatem."
My eyes opened and I sat up.
Kidnapping.
I was kidnapped by-
My eyes fell upon two amused boys.
I glared.
"Why did you kidnap me?" I asked.
"It had to be done." Fred replied simply.
"Why-"
My eyes fell upon a line of brooms, bats and a few metal boxes. I easily recognized where we were, also I knew their motives.
"Oh no, you got to be joking." I groaned.
But James and Fred's smirks didn't leave their faces.
We were in the bloody Quidditch Shed.
"You're going to fly." James said.
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are." Fred smirked, throwing a broom at me.
"I thought you already did try-outs."
"We did, just the seeker is our sub because he has Owls, bloody told us that after the last Quidditch match." James informed me.
"Well I don't want to."
"I'll get the student's attention on you." James threatened.
"But if I get the spot everyone will be there watching me anyways."
"They won't always be looking at you. We are famous for our good looks after all." Fred told me.
"I'll also tell Rose about third year." James added.
My eyes widened and then narrowed.
"You wouldn't."
James just smirked and I groaned.
"Fine."
I glided down and off my broom to the two waiting figures. They were grinning hugely and I just glared at them.
"So how did I do?"
"Brilliant." Fred muttered.
"Absolutely Brilliant. Al has got to watch his back with you as our new seeker." James told me.
"I got the spot?" I asked in surprise.
"Well, yeah. The other guy was rubbish compared to you." Fred said.
"Now I want my new seeker off to bed." James commanded.
"Fine...Captain."
As I walked off I heard Fred and James conversing.
"What did happen in third year mate?" Fred asked.
"I have no bloody idea." James replied.
I just shook my head but chose to ignore it. I had this happy, fuzzy feeling in my stomach. I tried to shove it down but a big grin took place on my lips.
I was on the team.
A.N Whoa, this is a long chapter.
Does anyone out there dislike dresses? I do.
I also wrote in my situation as to not knowing there was even a dance that happened nearly every year. Yep. Happened to me.
It's this formal thing I never knew existed.
I'm like that.
I just thought Raven might be in that situation since she is in her own world of focusing on things that matter to her.
Oh yea, Ally-cat is jelly. He is full of jelly. If I did the jelly-legs jinx it would be literal. But I won't. Because I'm nice.
I think.
Yea.
Review time :D
Alice- I agree. The chapter was choppy. I didn't like it much. Also, she's on the team just now. I don't want to show Quidditch skills just yet so I didn't write them in. Good idea though about the seeker being injured. I might just use it for Raven later on so the kid actually has a chance. Anyways, thanks for reading and reviewing! :D I appreciated it a lot.
Bookluver1999- I think we should all pour some butter beer and give cheers to Al over his draumaticness. He should be proud. Glad you find it funny! :)
That's it for now.
I hope you all like this chapter and found humor in it.
In some way.
Yea.
Thank you!
Lupe
