Sweet as Candy
Love is a really complicated abstract thing. Since it is such a complicated thing, we often times don't realize it; especially romantic love. Though signs romantic love is visible, but there are some people who just can't spot those signs at all. One of these people is Misaki.
"Hmmm…" Misaki was staring at the newspaper, with a really confused face.
"What happened?" Suzuna asked Misaki.
The Ayuzawa sisters were enjoying their peaceful Sunday morning eating breakfast. Misaki has the habit of reading the newspaper every morning, while Suzuna would just watch the daily TV show on daily horoscopes.
"There's another case of murder due to relationship issues." Misaki sighed. "What's wrong with these people?"
"Well, love can drive a person crazy." Suzuna explained.
"Like…..?" Misaki asked.
"Hmm…." Suzuna thought for a while. "I was just copying a phrase I saw on a drama series another day."
"…" Misaki stayed silent for a moment. "You should watch less tv."
"Though love can certainly make a person do some unbelievable things." Suzuna chuckled. "I have experience of that."
Suzuna stood up and started to clean her own plates.
"You've got something planned today?" Misaki asked her own sister.
"I have a date with Hinata." Suzuna simply said.
"!" Misaki was about to spit out the sip of milk she just drank. "When did you guys get together?"
"When you were busy with your new job, I made my move." Suzuna simply smirked.
"How come I don't know?" Misaki exclaimed.
"Well, now you know." Suzuna placed her plates and mug into the sink and started to wash.
"What made you want to make a move on him?" Misaki asked.
"I've always liked him since I was a child." Suzuna placed the clean mug and plates on the drying racket and dried her hands with a towel. "Also, love waits for no one."
"I don't really know how to comment on that." Misaki said. "Then I'll be strolling around the streets today."
"SUZUNA!" A voice came from the door.
"Ah! It's Hinata!" Suzuna's face lighten up that moment and went to get the door right away. After a few minutes Hinata and Suzuna appeared at the dining room/ kitchen.
"Hey! Long time no see!" Misaki greeted.
"Long time no see!" Hinata greeted with a big smile.
"By the way, man! How old are you? Shouting at the door instead of using the doorbell like an elementary kid?" Misaki teased.
"I used… the doorbell." Hinata said.
"Sis, I think we need a new doorbell." Suzuna commented.
"Oh.. I'm sorry Hinata…" Misaki apologized.
"No, it's ok…" Hinata replied back.
Awkward silence filled the room up, no on knew what to say and no one knew how to react. They just sat there and stared at each other. That was the point when Misaki chose to leave the awkward situation first.
"Ermm… I'll be going." Misaki said as she grabbed her bag, waved goodbye, and walked out the dining room/ kitchen.
"Have a safe trip." Suzuna waved and said.
"Ok… ah!" Misaki replied to Suzuna but an accident happened.
Hinata and Suzuna rushed out the kitchen and saw Misaki having her right feet stuck in the floor.
"I think we need some wood supplies to fill in that hole.." Misaki commented awkwardly.
"I think so too…" Suzuna agreed.
Once again another awkward silence filled up the atmosphere. Misaki pulled her feet out of the hole and she walked towards the door.
"Goodbye for real." Misaki said and waved and safely made it out the door.
Hinata and Suzuna waved to the Misaki, after the door was shut they looked at each other.
"Hamburger-kun~" Suzuna started to wiggle her arms.
"Cheese-chan~" Hinata did the same.
"Special fusion~" Hinata and Suzuna said together and they formed a really weird position and both shouted "Cheese Filled Hamburger."

"Ah! I forgot my wallet." Misaki opened the door and entered the house again, she was shocked on what she saw.
Another awkward silence filled up the room for the 3rd time. Misaki rushed into her room and got her wallet, with the most rapid speed she sprinted out the house and pretended that nothing happened.
Misaki was walking on the street, thinking of the scene just now. Then she shook her head and decided to forget what she just saw, though it wasn't something inappropriate but that scene made her feel awkward in one way or the other.
It didn't take long for Misaki to walk to the area of the town where most stores are located. She was surprised to find a cosplay event going on at a maid café there. She didn't really pay attention to the event, she just entered the department store and started to look for things she needed. First, Misaki went to the wood supply store.
"Hmmm…. Which wood will be better for the floor…" Misaki murmured to herself as she stared at the difference wood displayed at the store.
"Hmmm… which one will look best for part that exploded in the kitchen…" A girl with long black hair murmured to herself.
That moment Misaki turned to her side, and the girl with long black hair also turned to face Misaki. Their eyes met.
"Ah! You were the one on the party!" They pointed at each other and exclaimed.
"You're Usui's partner right?" The girl with long black hair recalled.
"Yes, and I remember you are the wife of President Takashima…" Misaki wasn't quite sure.
"Yes, I'm Hana…. Takashima Hikari" Hikari turned to the side and murmured to herself. "Takashima will kill me if I introduce myself as Hanazono Hikari again.."
"May I ask for the reason why you are here?" Misaki politely asked.
"Oh, my husband has a little casual meeting here and I'm here for the supplies to fix the part of the kitchen that I blew up." Hikari said optimistically.
"I see…. Blowing up the kitchen…" Misaki started to have a more blurry impression of rich people.
"Hikari! Did you find the wood yet?" Takashima Kei walked into the store and walked straight towards Hikari.
"Can't decide…" Hikari squinted her eyes and rubbed her chin.
"Eh?" Misaki shouted.
Something shocked Misaki, it was the person behind Takashima Kei.
"So surprised to see me, Misa-chan?" Usui smirked.
"W-W-Why are you here?" Misaki pointed at Usui. Ever since that day Misaki spent with Usui at the park, Misaki felt uneasy every time she sees Usui. Even during work, she felt like she was about to burn from embarrassment, due to the action she did to Usui; romantically hugging from the back.
"Casual meeting with President Takashima about the upcoming game that the Walker Company will be working with Takashima Cooperation?" Usui shrugged. "Since we're friends and we rather just have a casual meeting instead of one in suits talking like 50 year olds."
"Oh god…. Why do I have to meet up with you on a holiday?" Misaki placed her hands on her face.
"It's destiny, honey." Usui teased.
"DON'T CALL ME HONEY!" Misaki literally exploded.
"Usui, I'll be going with Hikari first. We have to use our holiday time wisely." Takashima said and left with Hikari.
Misaki just grabbed a wood similar to the color of her floor, went to the cashier, and decided to leave this place as fast as possible. Seeing Usui doesn't only make her burn out of embarrassment, it also made her heart thump in irregular speed. Misaki didn't like that feeling.
"Hey, leaving already?" Usui was already waiting for Misaki outside of the store.
"Yes!" Misaki speed walked out the store.
"Hey! Hey! Where are you going?" Usui asked as he followed Misaki. Though Misaki was speed walking in a pretty fast speed, Usui was still able to catch up, and it looked like he was just walking normally.
"I have to go get a god damn doorbell and stop getting so close to me!" Misaki whined.
"Why?" Usui asked.
"You're irregularly sticky today." Misaki stopped walking and looked at Usui.
"You're avoiding me these days, so I felt like my presence is not strong enough since you can still avoid me, so the stickier I become the less you can avoid me." Usui explained and gave a free smirk.
"You!" Misaki was about to explode but then something interrupted her.
"You two!" A girl with short black hair and big grayish blue eyes ran towards Misaki and Usui. Once she stopped in front of them, she held up their hands and pleaded. "Help us out!"
"Huh?" Misaki tilted her head.
"Today's cosplay event is held by our maid café and and and two of our waitress sprained their ankles just now when they were trying on the high heels." The women explained. "You two have the looks, so can you please help us out?"
"Wait… I'm fine with that but he…" Misaki looked at Usui, since Misaki was sure that she heard the word 'waitress'.
"Can you cook?" The women looked at Usui.
"Yes." Usui answered.
"I can get one of our female cook out as a waitress, and you can take her place!" The women suggested.
"Sure." Usui felt like he had nothing to do on a holiday either, so why not help out.
"Great." Within split second the women was already hold Misaki and Usui's hands sprinting to the maid café.
When they all arrived at the maid café, the women introduced herself.
"I'm Satsuki, the manager here, and I'm forever 18." Satuski introduced herself.
"I'm Ayuzawa Misaki." Misaki introduced.
"Usui Takumi." Usui simply said.
"Oh my god." Satsuki stared at Usui and said. "You are a living masterpiece…"
Suddenly there were a bunch of flowers that were surrounding Usui and Misaki. These flowers look just like the flowers that appear in anime backgrounds.
"Ah! Manager, are you creating moe flowers again?" One of the busy workers passing through said.
"Ah! Sorry!" Satsuki resumed to her normal self. "Ayuzawa-san please follow me, Usui-kun please follow that girl."
Misaki was brought to the changing room and was given some clothes.
"Here are the clothes and…." Satuski was looking for some other things.
"Umm.. may I ask what is this cosplay even about?" Misaki asked.
"Oh people come here cosplaying will get a free parfait and a famous mangaka will held his signing event here." Satsuki explained.
"I see." Misaki nodded.
Misaki changed into the costume; it was the uniform of the maid café. The clothes made Misaki a little nervous, due to the length of the skirt and her exposing back.
"Ok, you are good to go!" Satuski pushed Misaki out of the changing room, and that exact moment, coincidentally Usui was passing through. Their eyes met each other right away.
"You look really cute, Misa-chan." Usui smirked.
"Y-Y-You! Get to work perverted alien!" Misaki scolded.
"Tsundere maid! This is the best!" Satuski started to have nosebleed the next second.
After a brief explanation on how Misaki's job, she started to work right away. Since Misaki used to have a part time job as a waitress in a restaurant, she was really used to this working style. The only difference was that she had to call people master and lady. As she served the cosplayers coming in and out the shop, she realized how scary the influence of anime and manga are.
Suddenly, there was this extremely good looking guys carrying manga books from the to the long table placed at one side of the café. This good looking boy had dark brown hair, dark brown attractive eyes, tall slim body figure, and a face that will make every single girl faint.
"Ahh~ Thank you Yukina-kun." Satsuki thanked the attractive looking boy.
"Not a problem." The boy replied back with a refreshing smile.
Most of the girls, including the female customers started to have nosebleed.
"Then I'll be going back to the bookstore." The attractive looking boy said farewell and went out of the café. The first thing he did when he went out the café was to make a call. "Kisa-san!"
"Hmm?" The voice on the other end sounded really tired.
"I'm done with my work, may I go meet you?" The attractive looking boy said cheerfully.
"wh… WHAT?" Suddenly from the other end there were some sounds of things falling and crashing.
"Kisa-san, are you ok?" The attractive boy asked.
There was no answer.
"I'll take silence as a yes." The attractive boy cheerfully said. "I'll be heading to your place now."
Back in the maid café, aside from all the female customers having nosebleed problems, everything continued. There even more and more customers coming into the café, and everything were going really crazy.
"Mashiro-sensei and Takagi-sensei are going to arrive soon." Satsuki started to panic. "AH! HERE THEY ARE!"
A group of people entered the café, and some people started o squeal. The mangakas finally arrived, and they made their way to the long table where all the manga books were placed right away. They sat down, had professional smiling faces on, and was ready to let the event go on.
Satuski did a little introduction speech, then the event started. The fans lined up waiting for the books to be signed, and some just brought the books from the little section of the long table. The event is considered success.
After the event ended, fewer customers came in, though there were still a lot, but as much as the amount during the event. Misaki was able to take a break from the busy atmosphere. During busy times, time passes really fast, before Misaki realized she was able to go home. In the changing room, Satsuki gave Misaki the salary of helping them out today, and Misaki changed back, and was ready to go home. She used the backdoor of the café, there she found Usui waiting for her already.
"So how was your day, Misa-chan?" Usui asked while he and Misaki walked down the streets together.
"Busy." Misaki simply answered. "How was the kitchen?"
"So-so." Usui replied.
"But there were so many customers." Misaki added.
"It wasn't that bad." Usui said.
"Something smells really sweet." Misaki commented.
"That's probably me." Usui said. "The whole kitchen was filled with all the sweet stuff you can name."
"I see… no wonder." Misaki actually liked that smell, it reminded her of her childhood.
For some reasons Usui chuckled, the reason why Usui chuckled was that Misaki was still capable of having a normal conversation with him, but why did she act so intense earlier.
"Oh yeah, about the game that you are going to work on with the Takashima Cooperation, what is it about?" Misaki asked.
"It's going to be based on the popular anime that Takashima Cooperation broadcasted." Usui explained. "The story is basically about people clearing dungeons, and some fantasy power. More like a hot blooded version of all the tales combined in one thousand and one nights."
"I see, it's going to be a big hit right?" Misaki asked.
"Many other game companies want to work with Takashima Cooperation for this particular idea." Usui added.
The conversation continued as Usui walked Misaki home. Finally, Misaki arrived home and it was about time to say goodbye to Usui. Somehow this farewell made Misaki a little bit uneasy. As Usui departed, the sweet smell from Usui disappeared slowly into the air, like the bubbles in summer.
Once Misaki couldn't see Usui anymore, she entered the half broken gate of her house, and then she realized that she forgot to by a new doorbell.
"Ah! Sis, you're back." Suzuna greeted as Misaki entered the house.
"Suzuna, I'm sorry I forgot to buy a new doorbell." Misaki apologized.
"It's ok, I won a gigantic bell from a postcard event we can use that a substitute." Suzuna suggested. "It doesn't require electric too."
"Ok…" Misaki nodded, she didn't quite get her sister's logic. "I'll go shower first."
After showering, Misaki was in her room alone. Since today was quite a busy day, Misaki just wanted to lie down on her bed and listen to some radio. She turned the radio on, chose a music broadcasting channel.
Misaki lied down on her bed and listened to the radio silently.
"Now, please enjoy the song 'Melancholic'….." The DJ said with her unique accent.

Misaki just listened to the song, but somehow that song was making her reflecting on her relationship between her and Usui. Is it possible that Usui can steal her heart when she is not noticing? Misaki thought for a little while and decided to forget everything so that she can have a good night sleep. However, Misaki wasn't aware of the fact that Usui has already turned into her sweet melancholy.
