"Hey look, I think I caught a fish!" exclaimed Happy as he felt something tugging on his fishing pole.
"Reel it in Happy!" replied Natsu, excited for his partner's catch.
They had been by the lake for almost an hour but none of them had caught a fish till now. Lucy was never into fishing even after trying it out when the two boys insist. Since then, Natsu and Happy would just let her read her novel; they are fine with it as long as she was there with them. As usual, Lucy was sitting against a nearby tree as she try to read her novel.
She couldn't help but thought back about what had happen that morning. 'Seriously! What was that all about? Doesn't he like Lisanna? Man, someone need to teach that guy about boundary or else I won't be able to move on.'
Earlier that day, Lucy was not surprise when she woke up in the arm of the dragon slayer. It wasn't the first time that it happen and usually she would have kick him out of her bed but what transpired the day before made her stop herself. Thinking that he might still be paranoid about her leaving again was what caused him to hug her close to him sometime during the night.
So instead of kicking him out like she usually did, she decided to slowly escape from his grip so she could go take a shower. This however only caused the dragon slayer to tighten his grip on the celestial mage.
After spending some time struggling, she decided to try using Happy's tail for a little help to tickle Natsu's ear. This causes him to release his grip and turn to the other side. Lucy quickly moves away from him and went to the bathroom and enjoys a nice soak.
It didn't take long for the sleeping dragon slayer to realize that his partner was not by his side. It seems that after he was aware of his partner's many escapades without him, it had made him more alert of her whereabouts.
At the realization that she was no longer beside him, he jolted up; fully awake from his peaceful slumber that hehad not experience in a long time. He took a quick look beside him and around the room before getting out of bed, searching for Lucy in the other rooms. When Natsu didn't find her in the kitchen and living room, he went to see whether her travelling bag is still around. That was when he heard a sigh coming from the bathroom. It was one of the many sound that he enjoy coming from his favourite blonde. It was a sound that Lucy always make when she was relaxing and just enjoying some alone time to herself mostly when she soak herself in the bath.
As relieve wash over him over the fact that Lucy was still around, he decided to tend to his grumbling stomach. Natsu decided to prepare breakfast for the three of them instead of waiting for Lucy to come out. He prepared some bacon, scramble eggs, and pancake for Lucy and himself, while not forgetting some fish for Happy. Just as he was done with preparing breakfast, he heard the sound of the bathroom door lock unlock.
While relaxing in the bath, Lucy could smell someone cooking bacon and pancake, envying the lucky person who's having such mouth-watering breakfast.
'Nothing like a good old English breakfast. Maybe I should get some of those later at the guild.'
When her bath water started to get cold, Lucy decided that it was time to get out, wake her two sleeping partners then head to the guild for her breakfast. However, what she didn't expect was the sight of Natsu setting her dinning table with breakfast. Not only did he cook them, he also prepares enough food for the three of them.
"Hey Luce, you're right on time. Come on, have a sit and let's eat." Said Natsu the moment he saw Lucy standing at the doorway.
On first instinct, Lucy look at her kitchen, mentally calculating the possible cost that she might incur for her burn down kitchen. To her utter surprise however, her kitchen look how she remember it to be. There was no evidence of charred wall in her kitchen.
"Wow! Did you prepare all this? I thought that it was the neighbour who was cooking."
"Well, it has been a long time since we had breakfast together at your place. So I thought that maybe I could do something for us, and since you just got back yesterday, I thought I should do breakfast for a change."
"Thanks Natsu. I'll go wake Happy up then we can start."
Before Lucy could leave however, Natsu had stopped her by grabbing on her wrist. Turning around, Lucy look at the dragon slayer with a confuse look on her face.
"Natsu?" question Lucy.
"Happy might still be tired from yesterday. Why don't we start on breakfast first without him? I'm sure you're hungry right? I have put some of Happy's food aside" reply Natsu with a smile on his face hoping that she would agree so he could spend some time with her.
"Well if you say so. I guess we could start first." Replied Lucy after giving it some thought.
At her reply, Natsu couldn't help but feel his muscle relax, a huge grin began to spread on his face as he guide Lucy to the table where he had set breakfast for them.
"Mmm… this is delicious Natsu."
"Thanks Luce. Glad that you liked it." said Natsu, a smile on his face as he watches Lucy enjoying the breakfast that he made. He couldn't help but feel elated at the fact that she actually appreciates the small things that he did for her. This was Lucy and it was one of the many things that made him fall more in love with her as the day goes by. Even though she was brought up as an heiress, she was always humble and would appreciate the things that people do for her no matter how small it is.
"And my bacon! Thanks for making it just slightly on the crispy side." Said Lucy as she looks up at her partner, giving him a smile to show how much she enjoys it.
"Of course Luce, I know how you like your bacon."
They continue eating in silent, with the only sound that can be heard are chewing sound and utensils scraping against the plate; and the occasional glance at Lucy's direction, courtesy of Natsu. The serenity was however broken by the sudden appearance of Happy.
"Morning Lucy, Natsu. Where's my breakfast?" asked Happy groggily as his right paw rub the sleepiness out of his eye.
"Morning Happy." came the reply from the two mage. "Here's your breakfast Happy." added Natsu gesturing to the plate fill with fishes that he had put aside.
At the sight of fish, Happy was wide awake as he sprouts his wings before flying up to the table, taking his place in front of the plate of fish.
After breakfast, the trio went to their usual fishing place instead of going to the guild like they do every morning. Once again, Lucy was surprise athat Natsu was coming with them. She had thought that it would only be Happy and herself.
"Um, Natsu? Where are you going?"
"Going fishing of course! Didn't we agree to that yesterday?"
"Yea, but I thought it will only be Happy and me. Don't you have any plan with Lisanna?"
"No Luce. What make you think that?"
"Well, I don't know. I just assume that you guys would have made plan for today."
"Well, it's been a long time since we hung out Luce. And besides, it's still the best when I'm spending time with my most treasured person." Explain Natsu as his face start to warm up and a slight blush can be seen.
Realizing that Lucy was no longer beside him, he stop and turn around only to see her standing rooted at her spot with a confused look on her face.
"Lucy, if you don't hurry up the sun will go down before we know it."
"Sorry." Reply Lucy as she began to catch up with her partner.
"What's wrong Luce?" asked Natsu, seeing that she still look confused as she walk beside him.
"Well… you see... if, as you say it's best when you're spending time with your most treasured person, then, shouldn't you be with Lisanna now?" question Lucy as she turn to look at Natsu.
Natsu could only stare at her with a blank expression. 'Is this woman for real? Can't she take a hint? I'm with her now am I not? How can someone who read romance novel on a daily basis be so dense! Do I even have a chance with her?' Thought Natsu at he look at Lucy trying to sort out his emotion.
"Lucy Heartfilia, I'm with you now am I not? You are my most treasured person. Not Lisanna or anyone else. No one will ever be able to replace you as my most treasured person."
All Lucy could do was gape at the person in front of her as Natsu slowly leans closer to her.
"Lucy! Natsu! Hurry up or the fishes are going to swim away!" came Happy's voice, pulling the two mage out from their trance.
"Coming Happy!" replied a red faced Lucy as she ran towards the flying blue exceed who was waiting for them a few steps in front, happy that she was save from doing something that she might regret later. Paw covering his mouth with a mischievous look on his face, Lucy could only guess the one thing that the blue exceed is thinking about right now. She just hope that the little feline would have the decency to keep it to himself as she was not in the mood to deal with his teasing.
The pink haired salamander on the other hand is not quite in the same state as his female partner. He was frustrated at the whole situation. Well, mostly on his blonde partner. Was his intention not clear enough for her? Him always sleeping at her house, protecting her from during mission, getting her attention so he doesn't have to share her with others. How else could he make it obvious to her? Those big beautiful brown eyes that was penetrating into his soul, clearly showing her confusion. If by kissing her could clear up her confusion, then he would do it. And at that very moment, that was what he was so close to doing.
However, fate have a different plan and apparently his blue fur partner is working with it to make Natsu's life miserable.
'Gah! Stupid! Stupid cat! Can't it find another moment to interrupt!' Thought Natsu as he follow Lucy to catch up with the stupid cat.
