Some should translate the greek in the previous chapters…..AND SORRY FOR THE DELAY. MY BROTHER DELETED THREE QUARTERS OF THE STORY AND I HAD TO REWRITE EVERYTHING. I COULD'VE GIVEN THIS TO YOU TWO MONTHS AGO. Sorry if the story is sucky. I'm not good at putting my feelings down on paper…er…the internet.
Leo
Leo was getting tired of all the darkness and walking. If Leo had designed the place, he would have added a rainbow or two. Maybe the monsters wouldn't be so grumpy if there was some splash of color in Tartarus.
"Hey, are we there yet?" Leo asked shaking the ghostly arms coming from the cracks in the ground off his leg. Something else Leo would've gotten rid of if he had made Tartarus.
"No, we-" Annabeth started before the ground shook a little. Leo suddenly felt a sharp pang in his chest that made him suck in his breath. He looked around while rubbing his chest. Leo saw Jason, who had been floating with Piper so that they were away from the reaching hands, had landed and both Piper and him were clutching their chest. Thalia was tapping the middle of her chest and Annabeth had let out a loud cry of pain.
"Annie, are you okay?" Thalia asked worriedly.
"Yeah, but I felt like I had been run over by a bull." Annabeth said.
"I felt it too, but it was more like someone head butted me." Piper said.
"You don't think-" Jason started.
"Something happened to Percy? Yes I do." Annabeth finished.
Leo was worried. Nothing could happen to Percy. He survived Tartarus, Kronos, Gaea, and tons of monsters. He was invincible.
"Whoa," Leo heard Piper say.
"Wha-oh gods," Jason said as he turned around.
Leo turned around to see what was more awe-worthy than the awesome LEO VALDEZ. When he saw it his jaw dropped. Thalia, who had turned around too, did the same. Annabeth was still looking the other way trying to find out what had changed.
"H-hey, Annabeth?" Leo said still awestruck by what was in front of him.
"What, Valdez?" Annabeth said annoyed. She still hadn't turned around.
"Annie, t-turn around for a second." Thalia said staring wide eyed ahead.
"What did you say Nyx's Castle looked like again?" Piper asked.
"Um, big and black with a huge golden statue in the front. Now come on! We must have 50 miles to travel!" Annabeth said moving forward. She still hadn't turned around to see what the others had seen.
"Or it could be 50 feet." Jason said.
"Wha-?" Annabeth turned around and finally saw it.
Nyx's Castle was as big as the Hogwarts castle Leo had seen in Universal studios. It was pitch black and in the front was a huge golden statue that seemed to be made out of pure gold. It was a statue of a beautiful women with her hand stretched forward as if to pull them in and eat them. She had huge golden wings coming out of her back. They stretch outward and were at least 20 feet long each.
"This is great!" Annabeth said laughing in relief.
Leo took a walked forward and was about to step in the milky white river that seemed to go on forever.
"STOP, LEO!" Thalia screamed yanking him backwards.
"What?" Leo was confused. Didn't they want to get to the castle? The only way was to fly across the river or walk through the river.
"T-that's the River L-lethe." Annabeth said shakily.
"And?" Leo asked. He was still confused. What does it matter what the River was called?
"Leo, one touch of the water from the Lethe and all your memories will be erased, forever!" Piper explained to him.
Oh.
"I think I can fly over it." Jason said as he grabbed Piper and shot upwards. Right when he was about to cross, he seemed to hit an invisible barrier. Jason lost his concentration and both him and Piper fell to the ground with a crash.
"Ow." Piper muttered as she picked herself up and dusted herself off.
"Why didn't that work?" Jason asked.
"Curious. Very Curious." Annabeth said as she stuck her hand through where the border had been. Her hand went right through just fine.
"Why don't you try again, but closer to the water this time, Jason." Thalia suggested.
"Without me please. I don't want to end up on the ground again." Piper said backing away from Jason.
Jason flew up again and charged right into the area where Annabeth had put her hand, but he bounced back. Jason tried a few different places, but got the same result.
"I guess the only way is through!" Leo said.
Annabeth turned to look at him, "How will we do that without losing our memor-"
Turn Back
"Who's there?" Thalia called out, her weapon loaded.
Turn Back
"I said, 'Who's there?'" Thalia shouted at the whispering voice.
Turn back
"Show yourself." Annabeth said to the voice.
Leo looked towards the river and saw a middle-aged man walking right on top of the Lethe. The man had snow-white hair and was wearing a cloak that kept changing color, but was silver at the same time. Huge elegant wings stretched from the man's back and they seemed to be glowing. Leo didn't know how that worked, but it looked extremely awesome. As the man walked closer, Leo felt a sudden urge to lie down and go to sleep. Leo's eyes dropped and his knee's were going weak. The others, except Annabeth, seemed to be doing the exact same thing.
Turn back
"Stop that," Piper tried to charmspeak the man, but she sounded sleepy. Leo realized that the man was the cause of his tiredness. Man, was he slow to get things.
My apologize heroes, but you need to return to your home. The man stopped where he was, which happened to be in the middle of the river.
Leo started to feel his drowsiness evaporate. He looked around at the others and saw them starting to come back to the world of the awake.
Turn Back
"We need to cross over the Lethe, Lord Hypnos." Annabeth said.
"Lord Somnus," Jason whispered.
The man's form flickered and for a second, Leo saw a man that looked the total opposite as his first form. Lord Somnus had hair as black as the night and his cloak was black with forms of nightmare trying to escape. His wings were now ragged and dark. They looked like the devil's wings.
I prefer my Greek form.
Leo did too.
You are about to enter Erebos, land of eternal darkness. Turn back now.
"We need to rescue our friend, Percy, from Nyx." Annabeth tried to explain.
"Yeah and we're not leaving without him." Thalia said boldly.
Ah. Perseus Jackson, Son of Poseidon, Hero of Olympus times two. Mother was always crazy, but some nerve she has trying to kill Perseus for her own plans.
"She killed Percy?" Jason asked.
"Dude, your mom's Nyx? That sucks. She doesn't seem to be the one for hugs." Leo blurted out.
Yes my mother is Nyx. You may also know my twin, Thantos.
"Family reunions must be really gloomy."
You have no idea.
"Sorry to interrupt you two, but we need to get to the other side and find out what has happened to Percy." Thalia said stepping forward.
He's dead.
Leo froze.
"What?"
He's dead. Turn back.
"He can't be dead." Annabeth growled.
He's gone. Turn Back.
"Listen hear you fu-" Thalia screamed, but was interrupted by Piper.
"Please, Lord Hypnos, our friend is on the other side, let us cross." Piper used her charmspeak.
I cannot be swayed with your charmspeak, Daughter of Aphrodite.
"Then let us past to see his…body." Jason winced.
Passing through would mean certain death
"Dude, we just passed through all of Tartarus. Defeated maybe about a hundred monsters. Do you think we care about dying right now?" Leo was getting tired of this. If Percy was hurt...or dead (Leo refused to believe Percy was dead)…They needed to help him like he would've helped them. It was Leo's fault anyway. The guy sacrificed his life for Leo.
Your courage is admirable. You have great loyalty to your friend.
"Well duh, he's our friend." Thalia scowled.
I will let you pass, but I will not move my river.
"Then how do we get through?" Jason asked
Drink the vials, but if you die here, your soul stays here. The last vial will be somewhat useful to you. I suggest you keep it.
"What via-" Leo started to say, but then was smacked in the face by 5 milky white vials. Leo pulled them out of the air and then was smacked with another vial from behind. Annabeth reached over and took that one. It was black and gave Leo the chills. He was glad Annabeth took that one.
Mother has already left, but watch for my sisters.
"Thank You, Lord Hypnos." Piper bowed.
Don't thank me. I just lead you to your doom. Lord Hypnos disappeared.
"Valdez, hand over the vial." Thalia said snatching one from him.
"Alright, alright." Leo muttered as he passed out the rest.
"Everyone chug on three?" Jason suggested.
"Sounds good. One." Piper said as everyone pulled out the stopper.
"Two." Leo said bringing the vial to his lips.
"Three!" Annabeth shouted. Leo dumped the contents into his mouth. It tasted like warm milk and a cozy bed.
"Well, that wasn't so-" Thalia started retching and coughing.
"What?" Then Leo tasted it. He wanted to throw up. It tasted like someone had loaded garbage in his mouth. After a while, the taste started to die down, but was not completely gone.
"Never again." Jason said.
"Agreed." Leo nodded his head.
"Now we have to cross." Piper said.
"Uh, Ladies first?" Leo offered.
Annabeth ignored them and leaped right into the river.
Leo flinched, but Annabeth wasn't in the water, she was hovering an inch above.
"WOAH! MAGIC FLYING POWERS." Leo yelled as he ran across the river to catch up with Annabeth.
