AN: One Piece belongs to Eiichiro Oda!
Hey...Sorry this is so late. Since I last updated, I've left uni, moved back in with my parents, and a lot of other 'stuff' has happened. Thank you megaME for the pep-talk, I really needed it :) I'm going to keep updating this, but I won't be quite as 'chatty'...Thanks to anyone who's still reading this, I don't really know why you are, especially when updates are so sparse. I was actually tempted to just upload the rest of this today, but I figured that would take literally all day ;) Hope you're all well :)
Chapter Ten – What the Future Holds
Zoro slowly led Robin around the now cleared lawn deck, the chairs having been pulled to the side after the ceremony, to the gentle sound of Brooke's violin. He could feel her soft breathing in the crook of his neck as her head lay on his shoulder. They were married. After sailing together for years, they were married after only being together for less than a year. He heard, and felt, her sigh and he smiled. Nico Robin was now Roronoa Robin, and their little Roronoa was pressed between them.
He glanced around at the other couples starting to join their first dance. The sight was actually quite amusing considering three of the four dancing women were pregnant. All four were wearing the same outfit, only in different colours. A sixth-month pregnant Nami wore orange, and her partner wore an orange cravat with his black suit; the suit as perfectly ironed as Ero-Cook always had it. The eight-month pregnant Hancock was in a vibrant red, while Luffy wore a black cravat with his matching red shirt under his black suit, signifying him as the one that had held the service. Then finally was the mysterious woman that Law had brought with him.
She was wearing green, the same pale green of her shawl that she still refused to take off. She'd still refused to even look at Zoro, never mind speak to him, but he had been told by Robin during the meal that she wished to be referred to as 'Trafalgar', or 'Trafalgar-san' in Robin's case. He smiled as he watched Law and Trafalgar dancing, Law in a matching green cravat, as Law held Graham up in one arm, allowing the three to dance together. The three of them looked so happy.
Zoro felt Robin tense in his arms.
He looked carefully at her as she stopped dancing, slowly raising her head up to look back at him with a startled expression. He could feel a strange feeling in his stomach as her pale blue eyes continued to stare back at him. Her grip started to tighten on him. What was wrong? Everything had been going so well, why was she looking so...so...
"The baby!" Zoro shouted out, his eyes shooting wide in realisation. Robin gave him a small nod in response before being carefully grabbed by a Heavy Point Chopper.
Zoro and Law followed Chopper to the infirmary, ready for a long night as they left the wedding party behind them. Trafalgar followed in after them, much to Zoro's surprise, not that he was going to question anything at that particular moment in time – he and Robin's baby was on the way!
Just as midnight was closing in, the sound of a baby crying as it entered the world echoed across the quiet ship. Everyone stood up from their seats out on the lawn deck, waiting patiently for the announcement of the baby's arrival as they quietly talked amongst one another. Zoro soon appeared out of the infirmary door with a giant cheesy grin and a tiny green haired baby in his giant muscular arms, wrapped up in a pink baby blanket. He stood in front of everyone, the grin not leaving his face, as he announced the birth of their baby daughter, Roronoa Ivy.
He'd let Robin choose the name and he couldn't have chosen better himself, Ivy being a name close to his heart. After the initial congratulations though, Law suddenly popped his head out of the surgery door to call him back in. Several hours later, just as the sun was beginning to rise, Zoro reappeared out of the surgery door. This time, however, he was carrying a much larger blue coloured bundle; a bundle that contained a black haired baby boy, Roronoa Jack.
He and Robin had just had twins.
Zoro's face flushed as Robin started giggling. It wasn't his fault Jack insisted on sitting on his shoulders while Ivy clung to his front. If he'd just been able to get them to do what he wanted them to, his wife wouldn't be laughing at him while his two kids used him as a climbing frame. Jack was currently attempting to climb onto his head while Ivy kept pulling on his earrings, trying to get his attention since it was currently on Jack. Why did they have to have twins?
He managed to grab the back of Jack's little t-shirt and set him on his right shoulder, demanding that he sit quietly or he'd have to walk. Then he turned to scald his daughter for her behaviour as she attempted to pull on her brother's leg. His wife continued to laugh at him, with no intention of interrupting the current scene that was causing great hilarity between her and Nami. Sanji had had to leave simply because the swordsman had literally been ready to kill him if he heard another sound out of his mouth that resembled laughter. He'd left taking his blonde haired daughter with him; she was clinging to her father with a leg against his back and one across his stomach, the exact same as Ivy – only she didn't have a brother to harass.
Sadly, however, not one of the laughing parents noticed the two shadows watching them from the edge of the town square. They'd come into the town to get food supplies and toddler essentials. Thankfully their two were out of nappies, along with Ero-Cooks daughter, but sadly they still needed them for the youngest member on board the ship: little Oliver. Nami and Ero-Cook had had another brat after the last one and all the damn thing did was cry and sleep. He was currently doing the latter in his mother's arms, his short orange hair only just visible at the edges of the blanket he was wrapped up in.
Zoro had had enough. He was sitting outside a cafe, stuck with the four kids – three two year olds and a crying one month old. He was going back to the ship now and he didn't care if the others told him they weren't ready yet. He spotted one of his crew mates walking towards where he sat at a small round table, surrounded by laughing kids, the crying baby in one of his arms.
He collared Usoppe who was on his way back to the ship, dragging a small black haired two year old boy. He passed him the baby and the hands of the two girls, grabbing the toddler from him in the process. Ivy instantly climbed onto Usoppe's back, while the blonde took his hand, staring at Jack who'd just been thrown onto his father's right shoulder while the other boy got thrown onto the left. The two men left, making their way towards the ship, Usoppe leading the way.
The two of them reached the ship and put the kids in the aquarium room, Zoro shutting the door with Usoppe still inside. Zoro went up to the bedroom and shut the door. He collapsed on his and Robin's bed and shut his eye, hoping for just five minutes before Robin's torso appeared from the floor to check if he was back at the ship. He sighed. His children were hard enough, but with Ero-Cook's two as well?
He hadn't even had a chance to ask why Usoppe had ended up with Luffy's son – he probably had that mess to sort out too, hopefully Robin would give him a hand. Then again, where was their Captain if his son and Usoppe were here? An annoyed sigh left him just as he felt someone come on board the ship. He stood up. Judging by the size of the person who just got on board, it must be Franky.
It must be Franky?
Franky was watching the ship.
Who the hell just got on the ship?
He opened the door, his hands ready on his katanas.
"Zoro? Zoro?! What happened? Zoro?!"
He heard the sound of Robin's voice as he slowly forced his eye open, shielding his it from the blinding sun with his hand. He stared at his hand. There was a large lump on the back of his left hand, almost like an oversized insect bite. He tried to remember what had happened as he realised he was lying in the doorway to the bedroom, Robin leaning over him.
He'd opened the door and seen a woman floating in front of him, something fluttering behind her. He'd drawn a katana, and the next thing he'd known, he was laying on the floor with Robin over the top of him. Sadly, this was not a good moment, as much as he would love to, to take advantage of the situation; he had to work out what the woman had wanted.
He looked at Robin, hoping she'd already know. Then he remembered the weight that had stepped onto the ship. The woman had been floating – there had been two of them. He heard a shout from downstairs. Ero-Cook was shouting about something, and he was clearly upset. Zoro started to stand up, his head still spinning as Robin helped him to the bed. She sat him down, a worried look on her face. If she was worried, there must be something wrong. He could hear the whole crew running about the ship. What the hell had those two done? He tried to stand up, Robin pinning him back down while she called out to Nami to ask what had happened, only to be interrupted by a furious Ero-Cook.
"MARIMO! WHERE THE HELL ARE THE KIDS?!" he yelled as he stormed into the room, grabbing the neck of Zoro's tunic, his face only an inch from Zoro's.
"...the...the kids...?" His face blanked, and then the truth hit him. "THEY TOOK THE KIDS!"
He suddenly found himself yelling back into the Cook's face, standing up and pushing passed him to get out of the room. He looked at the confused faces below him, looking back at him. Usoppe was nowhere to seen. They'd taken him and the kids; what the hell do they want with their kids? He was going to hunt them down and slice them to pieces for just touching his kids. No one touches his kids.
He stormed towards the edge of the ship, ready to start his search. Robin wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling him back towards her. He could feel her tears dampening the back of his tunic. He lifted one of her hands up to his lips, kissing the back, before pulling away from her and jumping down onto the ground. He'd get her kids back, he'd make sure of that. Like hell he was going to let some bastard get away with taking his kids and making his wife cry.
As he hit the ground, he was joined by two familiar lean men to his left. Luffy stood upright, Zoro to his right and Sanji to his left as they started to walk away from the ship. Their kids had been taken, and they were going to find the ones that did it. As they walked towards the town, the familiar silhouette appeared in front of them at the edge of town, a large man walking close behind their crewmate. That must have been the man that Zoro had initially thought was Franky. He scanned the surrounding area, looking for the woman. The kids must be with her.
"Tell us where you took them from and you'll get him back in one piece!" A loud male voice boomed out, a large battle axe being swung in one hand, moving quickly towards a cowering Usoppe, stopping an inch from his legs.
"USOPPE!" Zoro grabbed the back of Luffy's waistcoat, pulling him back before he could do anything stupid.
"What did you do with our kids, Shitty Bastard?!" Sanji yelled at the man, fighting the urge to charge the over-sized man.
"Your kids? How do you think their parents feel? You pirates are sick, stealing innocent children!" The voice roared back.
"Luffy, he won't believe me! The woman has the kids, she's i-"
"Shut it, Long-Nose!" The man shouted at him, "now where did you steal the kids from?! Tell me or I end this man's life here!"
"They. Are. Our. Kids." Zoro lifted his head, a red glint in his eye as his fury shone clear, as he stared back at the half-giant in front of him, "Give them back, NOW!"
The half-giant seemed to pause. Zoro watched as the large battleaxe was swung up into the air and landed perfectly on his back, the head sitting at an angle above his muscular right shoulder, mirrored by a large war hammer above his left. He stepped towards them, pushing half-restrained Usoppe in front of him. The three crew members watched as the half-giant slowly got closer, his features slowly becoming clear. Zoro stared up at the violet-bearded half giant, surprised at the smirk on his face as his slate grey eyes stared back at him.
"Prove it."
"My name is Roronoa Zoro, First Mate of the Strawhat Pirates. The man beside me is our Captain, Monkey D. Luffy. The man on his left is our Cook, Sanji. We'd like our kids back, and you might want to do as we ask – their mothers will show a lot less mercy than us."
"Puwa, puwa-puwa! Why should I fear their 'mothers'? We'll only give then back to their real parents – not pirates like you!"
"You're holding my daughter and son hostage because you think that they're not mine?!" Zoro glanced over at the furious Cook, his leg now seemingly on fire. Usoppe would survive with one leg if Ero-Cook snapped, right? Hell, he'd have to. "You're also holding the children of two of the most dangerous women known in the world; Nico Robin and Boa Hancock. If you think you can upset them and get away with it – you clearly haven't met them, or us!"
Ok. I'm rereading this and going "It seems really A-B-C-D-ish", but it does start to smooth out soon :) This is pretty much a story about mistakes Zoro makes and then has to try to fix. As you can tell, he's still making them. It will take him several years to fix 'all' of them, but time isn't something you can claim back.
