Kingly chapter ten: ambush

Arthur walked down the alleyway, Leon right on his back. Arthur knew that they were both reeling in the fact that Merlin and Elyan had a sibling they knew nothing about but both knew this wasn't the time to talk to them about it. They would have to wait until they were safely at the castle before they could talk to them about this.

Arthur nodded at Leon and they linked arms and grabbed out their water pouches and started to stumble down the street, singing off tune and slurring their words.

Well I met her up on Leeson Street of a Tuesday afternoon
In Summer's fallen colours, sulking back to school
I asked her would she linger, and she asked me would she stay
Would she keep a girl in company, drinking in the day?

They stumbled and pointed to the sky.

"My god it's a dragon!" Leon shouted, falling to the ground, trying to get up while Arthur leaned against a fence laughing.

"It's not a dragon it's a cloud that looks like a dog!"

"It's a dragon!"

They continued fighting until their spy walked along the street and waved off the people watching.

"They are two drunken soldiers who are in for a good whipping tomorrow," he growled at the onlookers, who just shook their head at the two drunks. The soldiers were always getting drunk and making a ruckus they knew so they thought nothing of these two soldiers.

Their spy got them off the ground and dragged then to the end of the street and towards the soldiers and at the last moment pulled them into the forest.

"It's good to see you again old friend," Arthur said, standing straight, embracing the older man.

He was taller than both Arthur and Leon, but no were near as tall as Percival and he had slight scar under his chin. He was older than Leon and Arthur by about five years.

"How is your lovely wife Geraint? The ladies have missed her at court," Leon said, as he embraced his friend.

"Enid is fine. You may see us there soon. Orion is planning on sending us back along with Christian and Elyan, along with some other of his own people. He wants your family dead Arthur along with those who will remain loyal to you, even after your death."

Arthur and Leon shared a look. They knew he was planning on killing Arthur and his family but there was a lot of people who were loyal to him.

"When?" Leon asked.

"As soon as its confirmed your sister is pregnant," Geraint said sadly.

"Then we shall see you in Camelot soon," Arthur replied, running his hand through his hair.

"I can give you the name of his other spies but I won't be able to until we get back. He know how familiar Enid and I are with Camelot and its court that's why we are being sent and I think he knows who Elyan really is."

Arthur groaned. "This makes it troubling. Is Elyan in danger?"

"Not until he reaches Camelot. Orin wants Christian to make it look like one of your own knights did it."

"Which knight?" Leon asked, as Arthur looked over at the window, wondering how he could stop this.

"Either Gwaine or Lancelot, whichever one Christian can get easier access to."

When Arthur retuned to camp Percival met his gaze and nodded. He had gotten the information from their spy.

"Everyone at first light we leave for Camelot," Arthur called across the clearing softly, knowing that they would all hear him.

"What's wrong?" Merlin asked as Arthur gestured for Merlin to come over to him.

"You need to send a message to your brother. Tell him that Orin knows who he is and wants to kill him when he reaches Camelot. He is to come to Camelot and we will hide him but he is to go on like nothing is wrong."

"What makes you so sure that Orin will wait to Elyan reaches Camelot?" Gwen asked from across the clearing, where she sat talking to Percival, Gareth and Kay. She knew that it would come out that Elyan was their brother and that Arthur would talk to her and Merlin how he found out sooner or later.

"Because he's planning on planting the blame on either Gwaine or Lancelot. It makes me one knight short, not factoring in it would be one of my best knights and makes me question every other knight who claims to be trustworthy."

They started out at first light, all of them still in shock over what Arthur had told them last night. They were ridding for about an hour and a half until they came across a log in their road.

Arthur gestured got Percival and Kay to move it but he stopped them when he noticed the axe marks at the end.

"Attach," said he just loudly enough for those around him to hear, and they passed on the message.

A moment after they all knew the bandits attacked. Arthur and Gwen got separated for them rest of them, and were getting herded away from their friends.

"We'll meet you at the spot we camped four nights ago," Arthur shout at his knights, then he started riding way, Gwen right beside him as they took off, half of the bandits following, conforming Arthur's suspicions that they knew who this group consisted of.

Elaine – please be careful brother, I want my baby to meet their uncle.

Gwen – its ok, he's with me.

Merlin – oh is he now sister? *smirks*

Arthur - *head slaps merlin* shut up Merlin.

Merlin – this is still abuse.

Sprit – toughen up Merlin.

Gwen – Spirit asks that you give her some ideas because she had some writer's block with this story.
