After a while, I got used to the fact that Esme would be around. I was comfortable in my own skin around Carlisle's family and they seemed to have warmed up to me. Alice and Edward talked to me at school and I sat with them at lunch. I continued to work at Newton's and Carlisle would stop by for camping dear every once in a while. Carlisle and I were almost inseparable. On nights he didn't work I would go see him. Every now and again we'd get a little crazy nut never when his kids were around. On nights he did work. He would come see me when he got off work. I gave him Riley's key and he would let himself in after work. I would wake up in his arms and feel like the happiest girl in the world. It's still hurt to think that I would never see riley again but, Carlisle made it easier. Carlisle would hold me when I would cry and every time I had a panic attack he would calm me down. It was so similar to how Riley did it.
I didn't really see much of Jake anymore. Ever since Carlisle came into the picture he only comes around when I'm alone. Which isn't much of the time. I missed him.
I pulled my phone out and dialed his number.
Ring… ring… ring… ring… ring…
"Hello?"

I'd been with my perfect Isabella for two months now. We were rarely apart and when we were my high speed mind lingered on her. She was graduating tomorrow. She'd finally be only mine. I enjoyed every second I had with her and made the most of ever kiss and touch she stole. Mu family was reserved around her. They want so desperately to be able to be themselves with her but that can't happen. Not now. Riley was dying for his sister to know he was alive. I couldn't tell her yet though. She needed to be told gently.

Stupid Bloodsuckers.
How dare they rip into my life and steal everything precious to me. First my best friend and now his little sister.
My phone buzzed from across the room and I got up to check it.
A picture from Sam of my god children. Two strapping boys.
I gave a halfhearted grin. I had only just put my phone down when it started buzzing again and kept buzzing.
Bella.
Why would she be calling me? Where's her parasite?
I debated for a moment then decided to answer.
"Hello?"
"Jake? I didn't think you were gonna answer."
"Well, I did. What's going on?"
"I miss you."
"I miss you too, Bells."
"You wanna go do something? Just us?"
"Like what?"
"We could go see a movie."
"Mmmm… Alright. Let's go."
"I'll be over in a minute."
CPOV
The hospital was very slow and every patient I saw was a bit boring. Nothing new to report, no changes to be made. I forced myself to act human.
Buzz! Buzz!
I pulled my phone out if my coat pocket and laid it on the desk in front of me. I was doing a little bit of desk work to pass the time.
I'm going to see a movie with Jacob. I'll be home later.
I wasn't quite sure how to take this. I knew that she had every right to see her friend but I didn't trust Jacob. At all. Not when it came to my Isabella. He was too fond of her for my tastes.
'Be safe, Love. Call me if you need me for anything.' I sent her back.
I sat back in my chair and closed my eyes. I could only imagine what the dog might do. Thinking about it made my skin crawl. No matter what she said I would worry about her. I would worry until he came home.
The only bright side to this was it gave me a reason to go hunt. It'd been a while.
"Dr. Cullen, You're needed in the emergency room. Dr. Cullen." The speakers in the hospital buzzed. I got up and made my way to the emergency room. There would me know hiding this from my family. I would leave to hunt up in Alaska tonight after work. I would be back in time for my love's first graduation from high school and not one thing could keep me from going.

Jacob was being slow, as usual.
"Jacob if you don't hurry were gonna miss the previews." He knew I loved the previews.
"Just a second, JellyBean." I let out a frustrated groan.
"Jay-ke-uh!" I said drawing his name out. "You don't need cologne and all that junk. I'm wearing sweats and I look like complete crap."
"Oh please, Bella. You never look like crap." He said he walked back in and grabbed his keys. "Ya comin'?" he asked, twirling my pony tail as he walked by. I rolled my eyes and followed him out the door. I waited until he was at the bottom of the first flight then I launched myself onto his back. He caught me, unwavering, and carried me down the rest of the stairs and out to the car piggy back style.
"So, how's work been for you, Mr. Jacob?" I asked. He jumped and made me scramble to catch myself.
"It's been long with school and everything. I'm so ready to graduate. Then I can focus on work and you." he said.
"Me? Why would you have to focus on me?" I asked I teased.
"I gotta watch out for my number one, new boyfriend or not. I'll always be here to take care of you." He said. He set me down and opened the door to his Rabbit. I got in and he closed it for me. He got in and took off down the highway to Port Angeles. It was quiet in the car for a while.
"Jake?"
"Yeah Bells.
"I'll always be here to take care of you, too." I told him. He was all I had left of my family. I wasn't gonna let him go. Not ever. "Speaking of graduation. From earlier. You're invited to mine tomorrow."
"I wasn't gonna miss it for anything anyway, Bella. I'll be there, roses and gift in hand and I'll have the biggest, warmest, most awesome bear hug ever waiting for your when you get off that stage." He told me. Jake wasn't really one for sentimental so our conversation pretty much ended there. He plugged in his phone and we jammed out to all of our favorite music. We sand to each other and danced in our seats. Jake played a mean air guitar and I was unbeatable on dashboard drums. We did this the whole way to Port Angeles. Every time we passed someone, every stoplight we made faces at the other drivers and laughed when they flipped the bird. We laughed even harder when they made faces back.
I knew it was crazy but I felt like I was being watched the whole time. We stopped and got fast food on the way.
"Whatdaya want? I'm buying and you can't stop me." he said. My back was against the door of and my feet were on his lap. I kicked him and giggled.
"Only if I get to pay for the popcorn." I challenged him.
"Whatever, Bella. What do you want?" he chuckled.
"I want a salad but, I also want fattening." I whined. He knew I was messing with him. "Jaaaaay- ke-uh! Fix it." I whined dramatically. He laughed and pulled up to the drive thru.
"Can I get a double bacon cheeseburger, large fries, large chocolate shake, and the biggest sweet tea you have?" he said to the box.
"Is that gonna be it for you?" a muffled, mutilated voice asked.
"No, I also need a crispy chicken salad with ranch. Large cheese fries and a large…" he trailed off and glanced at me. "Pepsi." I smiled it all sounded good but I wasn't going to be able to finish all of that.
"Jake you know I'm not gonna eat all that food." I said.
"I'll eat what you can't." he said and pulled around and picked up the food.
"How are you not fat, Jake? I honestly can't figure out how you aren't fat." He just laughed and shoved his burger in his mouth.
We got to the movie theater shortly after that. Jake was done with his food and was finishing my cheese fries for me I had only just finished my salad and I was already full. I put the trash back in the back and got out of the car. Jake followed and scooped me up into the fireman's carry position.
"Jake! Put me down! Ahhh!" I yelped. He just laughed and jogged up to the ticket booth.
The movie was pretty gruesome. But that was alright with me, I loved horror and gore.
"I gotta use the little girl's room before we get back on the road. " I said.
"That's a good idea, me too and I'm gonna get a refill on drinks and popcorn for the ride home." He said and walked off toward the concession. I had the weirdest feeling that I was being watched but when I turned to look no one was watching me.

Tonight had been a bit of a surprise for me. I thought Bella had all but forgotten about me. We'd had a great night so far and the only thing lousing it up was the stupid vamp following us all night. I had yet to spot it and I couldn't tell which one it was. With Bella in the ladies room it was my only chance to address the problem.
"Listen up, Bloodsucker. I know you can hear me. I don't know why you're following us but it needs to end. Now. If you don't think it should then we can settle this in the bathroom. Understand." I said under my breath. I handed the lady behind the counter the empty bucket and drink cups and she refilled them for me. I waited outside the bathroom until Bella came back out.
"I'll just be a second Bells." I told her and left.
I went in and took care of business. I was washing my hands when I felt it enter the empty bathroom.
"I had hoped you would heed my warning, parasite." I said wiping my hands on a towel.
"Come on now, Jacob. Is that any way to treat your best friend?"
I whirled around. There he was standing in front of me as inhumanly alive as he could be.
"Riley. You're the one who's been following us this whole time?" I asked in disbelief.
"You bet your wolfy ass I am. I wish you would had told me about that before I died by the way. That would have been sweet!" He said leaning against the wall.
There were still traces of red in his eyes. I wasn't ready to trust him yet.
"What's a newborn like you doing in the overpopulated area?" I spat. I was still bitter that he had been taken from me like this.
"Well, for a newborn I have extreme self-control. I also have a physical gift, too. But, to answer your question. I'm here to check up on Bella. Is that alright with you?" he was cocky, just like when he was human.
"Did Dr. Fang send you?" I asked, he was only pissing my off more
"No, Jake, for your information, I'm in town for Bella's graduation tomorrow." He said, "I just wanted to see her before she walked across the stage."
"You can't be serious, she'll freak out and then you'll blow the secret. You absolutely cannot be at her graduation." It was heartless to forbid him to go but it had to be done. I could risk that secret coming out.
"And just WHO and YOU to tell ME that I can't be at my own sister's graduation?" he roared. I had to force myself to stay calm.
"I'm am trying to protect not only YOUR secret but, MINE as well. So you need to THINK about your decision to go to a graduation where every person that will be there was at your funeral!" I hissed back.
"Alice has already got it planned out. She's searched her visions and nothing is going to go wrong. I'm going to be in a disguise. I'll be wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap. I'll be standing in the doorway of the gym when her name is called and I'll only be there long enough to see her walk across the stage them I'm going back to Denali." He handed me a small jewelry box.
"What the hell is this?" I said,
"Alice told me to give it to you. For Bells, from me for graduation. It only part one. I had it for about a month before I changed. I had planned to give it to her for graduation anyway. Alice said you would give it to her for me. That you'd tell her that I gave it to you before I died so she wouldn't find it." He said. His face fell a bit. "We don't have to be mortal enemies, Jake. We can at least be civil to each other."
I thought about everything that had been said.
"Part one… What about part two?" I asked.
"I'm gonna give her part two myself. After I tell her I'm still alive but, that won't be for a while." He said. "Bella's waiting on you. You need to get going." He said.
"Yeah, don't worry about this. I'll make sure she gets it." I held up the box and then put it in my jeans pocket. I turned and left to find Bella again.
"Ready to go?"
