Chapter 10~ Blood Love

Lucy's POV

I opened the door to my apartment, sighing as I closed it behind me. I had been fretting about my promise all day, so much in fact, that I blurted out my problems in front of my friends.

I groaned in embarrassment at the memory.

I banged my head against the lunch table, groaning out loud, "Why did I promise him I'd hang out with him tonight."

"Ohh," Cana said near my ear, "Who's this 'him' you're mumbling about?"

I jumped up, squealing. Erza, Mira, Levy, Grey, Juvia, Loke, Lisanna and Elfman were all staring at me, expecting an answer. I went as scarlet and Erza's hair as I tried to think of a valid excuse to Cana's question.

I laughed, trying to keep what was left of my cool, "Oh? What are you talking about Cana?"

They all gave me blank looks. I continued to laugh, knowing that I was screwed.

Erza smiled sweetly, "Who do I have to kill?"

"No-one!" I yelled to quickly, "You've got the wrong idea!"

Juvia beamed, "Oh? Does that mean Love-Rival won't be going after Grey-sama anymore? Do you like him, Love-Rival?"

I stood up starply, banging the table with my hands, blushing furiously, "I DO NOT like that insufferable bastard!"

Realising my mistake, I stumbled backwards, "Um... What I meant was. I would never like Grey, you daft cow."

Juvia stuck out her tongue, "Skank."

I went to retort but was then bombarded by inquiries from the gang.

"He must be a man!"

"She doesn't love me!"

Levy leaned in, smugness on the edge of her tone, "Is he good in bed?"

"NO! Wait! That's not what I meant! We haven't... I mean we aren't even together!"

Mira squealed, whilst Erza went as scarlet as me, if not redder.

"This is perfect!" Mira grinned happily, "Don't worry Lucy! I'll get you too together in no time!"

Mira got busy making a plan with Lisanna, Cana, Juvia and Levy. The boys were kicked out of their conversation, Erza had passed out muttering about kids and I was promptly ignored as I tried to explain myself.

Fuck.

I shook the embarrassing memory out of my mind, cursing Mira silently. I decided I would try to hold out them meeting Natsu for as long as possible.

But I had to tell Natsu. It was only fair.

I really don't want to.

I walking into the lounge room to see him snoring on my couch. At least it wasn't my room. A blue fluffy thing lay on his chest. I touched it, feeling the soft blue fluff under my fingers. The thing rolled over and I realized it was a cat. It opened up its eyes and stared at me.

I stared back.

We continued staring at each other for a long period of time. Suddenly the cat yowled.

"Natsu! There's a scary lady here! Help!"

I leapt back, screaming with shock.

The cat just... talked?

My scream woke Natsu up. He jolted up, glancing around feverously, looking for a threat. Then he looked at me, realising the situation and said, "Geez Lucy. I was having a good dream until you woke me."

I pointed a shaky finger at the cat," I-it talked."

He pouted, "He's not an 'it'. He's name is Happy."

"Aye!" Happy the cat said, smiling.

"It talked again. Natsu, he talked! Cats aren't supposed to talk!"

"I'm not a cat!" Happy protested, standing up on his hind legs and crossing his arms, "I'm an Exceed!"

"What in the seven hells is an Exceed?"

"A talking cat." Natsu yawned, laying back down and crossing his arms behind his head, eyes closed, "Does it really matter? I'm still tired, so be quiet wilst I sleep."

I opened my mouth to give him a peice of my mind, but my voice wouldn't come out. I rolled my eyes frustrated, mouth gapping like a fish as I unsuccessfully tried to speak.

Happy stared at me, his big eyes reminding me of aliens'.

"You look like a puffer fish."

Maddened, I picked up the blue Exceed and shook his squirming body as the little devil cried out to the pink haired vampire, "Natsu! Help me! Lucy Pufferfish is going to eat me!"

Scowling, Natsu didn't open his eyes to see what the commotion was, "Lucy. Put Happy down," I involuntarily dropped him, "And please don't provoke her, Happy. Lucy Pufferfish doesn't like it."

That's it!

Shaking an angry fist it their direction, I spun on my heel and stomped around the find a pen and pad. Once found, I made my way back and stood over Natsu; in my absence, Happy had curled up with Natsu again. Furiously, I scribled on the pad, before continuously tapping Natsu, trying to wake the vampire.

He flicked my pen away from his stomach, grumbling slightly. Scowling, I put the pen behind my ear and grasped his shoulders, before vicously shaking the teenager, until he couldn't take it anymore.

He sat up sharply and hissed, "What?!"

Happy fell off his lap. I urgently tapped the pad with the pen. Squinting, he leaned forward and read my note.

Ok Natsu, STOP CONTROLLING ME! YOU IDIOT! How would you like it if I told you what to do, and no matter how much you try, you can't oppose it? Also, I'M NOT A PUFFERFISH!

He looked up at me with a stoic expression, before flopping back down on the couch and falling back to sleep, softly snoring away. I tried poking him again, this time in the ribs, but Natsu did not move an inch. I was being ignored Letting out a silent sigh, I walked degrudgingly and angrily back to my room. I can annoy him later.

...

As soon as the sun bid goodnight to Magnolia's city streets, dissapearing in the horizon; Natsu awoke, ready for anything that Lucy would propel his way. Hopefully it wasn't anything too sharp, even though the pink haired idiot probably deserved it.

But he wasn't the only one to wake as twilight set. Resting in a suspicious looking coffin, in the basement of someone's house, lie a young man, with jet black hair and eyes that glowed in the darkness of the basement. His coffin was hidden behind the labrynth of shelves, covered with dusty old books. The dust tickled the man's nose, and the vampire sneezed loudly, before grumbling and rising from the casket, hungry for his most favourite meal.

Blood.

And not just any blood, but the blood of someone short and high strung. But the best part of it all was, she was all his.

He snuck up on her, letting his vampire sences zone in to the woman, whom was too busy cooking to even feel his presence, or anyone's for that matter. Wrapping his arms around her warm Liliputian body, he felt his prey take a sharp intake of breath at the sudden bodily contact. The Royal nestled into her neck, were her scent was strongest and sweetest, earning another gasp from her lips. She whispered his name; he liked it. The way it sounded from her lips made him want to make her say it over and over, until she had no voice left.

"Morning love." He whispered in her ear.

Shuddering at the way his breath travelled down her neck, she replied with a lightness in her voice, "Morning? It's dark out."

He couldn't help but chuckle, "To me, love, it's morning," he kissed her neck tenderly, "And I'm ready for breakfast."

Feeling her pulse quicken, out of excitment rather then fear, he sunk his fangs into her neck. The sweet metalic taste, the taste he loved the most, splashed over his pierced tongue. The woman leaned into his embrace, drunk on his lips and the occasional tongue; his bites bought out dark desires in the maiden.

Repleted the vampire gave one last tug at the blood before releasing her neck and licking the wound.

"Gajeel." She moaned, not at all embarrased at the sound she made; she could barley think of the burning food infront of her, let alone her own embarrasment. His tongue was the onle thing on her mind; the way it pressed against her neck and ... ohh!

He pulled away, safisifed with his work, noting the pink bruise that he made. She was his, and now the whole world knew that.

...

Natsu dodged the lamp that I flung at him, "Get out of my room, pervert!"

He held his hands up in surrender, backing away to the door, "I'm sorry Luce!"

Happy was pointing and laughing at Natsu, whom tripped over his own feet, tumbling out of the door and crashing into the wall behind him. We went quiet, as Natsu went still, until he let out a low whine, "Owwwww..."

I held my towel tighter and stomped to the door, slamming it shut, face tomato red.

"That hurt, Lucy." Natsu's voice was mutted by the door.

"I don't care!" I yelled back, rummaging through my things to find my pajamas.

How dare he!I thought, slamming my drawers,That little pervert had the audasity to walk in on me as I was changing! Damned Pervert is worse than Loki!

Hey! He cried out in indignation in my mind, Don't compare me to that horn dog!

"Then don't act like such a pervert!" I yelled aloud.

"I'm sorry Luce!' he said on the other side of the door, "I didn't mean too! I thought you were reading or something! Honest!"

Decent, I swung the door open, which Natsu had been leaning on. Without the support of the door, he fell forward, knocking me over in the process.

"Owww..." I muttered, rubbing the back of my head.

He shot up, looking down at me, worried, "Luce, are you ok? I didn't hurt you, did I?"

"No you didn't. Now get off me before I call the cops!" I threatened.

He rolled his eyes, but obliged and crawled off of me. He sat down, legs crossed, watching me as I sat up and took the same position. Happy was giggling again, spluttering out, "He likes you!"

Natsu scolded him, "Don't roll your tongue like that!"

Happy just giggled.

I crossed my arms, "Now Natsu, what was so important that you had to barge into my room? And what's with that scarf? I know I didn't give it too you."

He's grin turned sour, the corner of his lips faded; even Happy stopped his giggling, letting out a chocked sob, as though trying to hold it back. The air turned cold; the light bubbling feeling had dissapeared. Natsu kept his head down and the air went silent; my clock ticked loudly in the house.

Worry ran over me. What had I said that made the atmostphere so dark?

I opened my mouth to ask what was wrong and to apologise, when he cut me off.

"My father is dead."

I felt my stomach drop; his voice was full of mailice and sorrow, but it was directed at an outer source. My heart reached out to him; I knew all to well the raw agony of losing your parents. He looked up, eyes clouded and devoid of light; it wasn't the same eyes I was used too, ones that were always so honest and clear.

"He was killed," He continued, "By Demons. The Royal's are gathering to hold council, and as his heir I must attend. You'll have to go with me, Lucy."

"I-" I bit my lip, torn between personal duty and Hunter responsibility, "I'm on probation, remember. They'll know if I leave this house. My career will be in danger."

he opened his mouth to protest, but I reached out to touch his arm, cutting him off, "I want to help you, don't get me wrong, but losing my position and favour with the Council will not help my case. I'll stay here."

He nodded, "I don't know how long I'll be gone."

I tapped my head, "You can always pester me. You do it all the time."

He smiled lightly, his coal eyes becoming clearer, "I'm going tonight," He's eyes turned mischevious, "Can I at least have a goodbye kiss."

I stared at him, wanting to slap the daylights out of him, but I had learnt my lessons; I could not harm the Vampire. Happy, now out of his depressed funk, rolled over and giggled, "He likes you!"

Natsu ignored him and looked at me expectiantly, "Well?"

I pondered for a moment, before shrugging and leaning forward, "Close your eyes."

Smirking, he obeyed. Happy stopped giggling and began to make embarrased noises; I think he was gagging, I couldn't be sure.

I grabbed the flustered Exceed and smushed him into Natsu. Wide eyed the vampire tore himself away, gagging along with Happy.

"Gross Lucy!" They yelled in unison.

I fell over with laughter, clutching my chest, tears streaking down my cheeks.

Best. Revenge. Ever.

Konichiwa Minna! I'm so sorry for taking so long to update. I promise that I'm still writing. So much has happened in the last few months that I don't know where to begin.

Short story long, I'm now living with my dad, who doesn't have any internet, so I have to wait until I have a day off to visit my mum, or I go to Macca's or something. But we all know I won't do that. I have trouble going out in public...
