A/N: I'm sorry it has been such a long time my lovely readers! I am so proud of this story and sharing my ideas with you. Thank you for reading and leaving me such wonderful reviews. You have no idea what they mean to me.
This chapter is extra long and exciting to make up for the time I've been gone.
Chapter 10
Jane bowed in front of the King, her eyes set on the floor in front of her.
"Squire Jane," he said and the woman in front of him straightened. "I was contacted by Gunther Breech recently."
Jane felt her heart skip a beat as thoughts flooded through her head about him. Was he okay? Was he planning to return? Did he say anything about her? However, another part of Jane cringed. It had been three weeks since she had last seen him. She wondered if he still remembered their last encounter. She wondered if her hurtful words rang in his ears like they did for her.
But he had left. Why should she care for him?
Because I love him, she thought suddenly. But no, that was not true. How could she love someone who left her?
It's my own fault, Jane thought late at night. During the day she kept herself vigorously busy so that her thoughts would go no where near Gunther. But when she was alone she felt the aching in her heart that she had caused herself. If only she had taken her words back. If only she had trusted Gunther when he tried to explain himself.
The loneliness of her life would creep up on her and Jane tossed and turned. She knew she could never take back what she had done. And she would suffer for it.
But if he was coming back, that meant another chance. Hope filled inside Jane and she could almost hear Gunther's voice whispering in her ear.
"You never told me what you learned about him." The King said, suddenly breaking Jane out of her thoughts.
"What I learned about him, My Lord?"
"Yes. I gave you a task of determining how loyal he is to this castle and whether he can be trusted. Even though Gunther Breech is long gone, I would like to know what you learned about him. I want to know your judgement of him."
"My judgement?" Jane asked, feeling pressured. What if what she said determined whether Gunther returned or not? What if she said something that revealed her feelings for him? How could she stay unbiased?
"Go on, Jane." Sir Theodore said, who was standing behind her.
Jane took a deep breath and thought about what to say. Her aching heart wanted her to say that Gunther was an extraordinary knight. He knew just what to say to her and he was an incredibly talented man. It was her fault he had left and she would do anything to bring him back.
"Gunther left his old Kingdom because his father was charged with treason and executed." Jane started. She had thought long and hard about what she should say and what she wanted to say. In the end, it was the same. She was going to voice her judgements on Gunther not because she needed him - but because he deserved to be here. She did not know why he had left, but The King needed to know that Gunther could be trusted. He deserved to be trusted. "Even though he became a man who wandered from village to village, it was because he did not feel at home. I doubt he will ever feel at home anywhere, but when he swore his loyalty to you and became a knight in training I know he meant it. Anything he did was for the good of the castle. He was kind, noble, and hard working." Jane's heart ached at her words. Gunther was an incredible lover to her in the few weeks they had been together, but in addition to that he was an incredible person. She wondered if the people in the castle knew that as well.
"So it would be wise to trust him?" The King asked.
Jane nodded. "I would trust him with my life."
After a moment of consideration, The King nodded and looked suddenly tired. "Thank you, Squier Jane. You may leave now."
Jane bowed again and headed for the door, seeing Sir Theodore and Ivon also looking tired. As she left the room, she felt it in her gut that the problem was bigger than whether Gunther was returning or not. Or maybe she was just being paranoid.
For the rest of the day the King, and the Head Nights locked themselves in the grand room to discuss something. It created quite a buzz in the kingdom and many theories had come up with what was going on. Currently, Jester was telling the group one of the theories he had heard while walking through the town.
"More Dragons?" Smithy asked, giving Jester a look.
"I don't believe it." Pepper said. "Dragon himself has searched high and low for them, but did not find another like himself."
Jester shrugged.
"And besides," Jane said. "How could Dragons be flying around the castle without anyone noticing?"
"They could be invisible or something - or they can shrink their size." Rake added.
Everyone rolled their eyes at him. "Oh, don't you start indulging him." Pepper tutted. "Jester is just looking for a new story to tell the princess. I bet the reason they're all holed up in there is about her - or maybe the prince has decided on a princess."
Jane laughed. "I feel sorry for the girl, seeing as the prince himself is only 10 years old."
"No way," Smithy said. "It probably has something to do with expanding the Kingdom. Maybe they're deciding how to make use of more land."
"I don't think Sir Ivon and Theodore would be any help in that department." Jane said.
"Maybe the King and the Queen are having another child?" Rake wondered.
"I hope it's more cows they're having, not children." Dragon quipped, hovering above them. The group laughed at him. "I'm serious."
They spent the rest of the day convulsing in laughter because of all the crazy theories people were thinking of. Finally, right before dinner the doors to the hall opened and Sir Theordore and Ivon stepped out. The group hurried to know what the news was but they only requested the presence of all knights and squires. The group gave Jane a curious look as she she entered and she smiled at them, telling them there was no need to worry. They all thought something terrible was going to happen, but honestly nothing could be wrong. Nothing ever went wrong in their simple kingdom.
However, she could tell by the grave faces that there was indeed something wrong. She stood next to another squire and was consciously aware that her father was in the room and looked very worried. There was a heavy silence in the room as the King gazed upon each of the soldiers in front of him. After taking a deep breath he finally found his voice.
They Knights and Squires dutifully bent down on their knee once the King stood up. "My loyal subjects," The King addressed them. "I have received news from a reliable source that there is another Kingdom coming and planning to attack us."
Jane felt her heart pound faster as the King continued. Attack? She desperately wanted to look up and see the King's expression as he was saying this. He couldn't be serious.
"Sir Ivon and Theodore have come up with a strategy that you all will implement in order to protect the Kingdom. The enemy is predicted to attack within four days. That is all we have to prepare - four days."
Jane could sense some Knights shift next to her and she wanted to get up and demand an explanation as well. Four days was not nearly enough time to prepare for a war.
And then she realized it - they were going to war. All their training had come to this. There was no more imagining about action, there was no more fighting with practice dummies. This was going to bloody and it was going to be real. They were going to war.
The next few days were spent with vigorous training, and relocation the townspeople. Hundreds of farmers had been enlisted to fight and if they could not, they were to help with preparing the Knights. That was another thing that made Jane's insides jump - she was now a Knight. No more Squire training and being treated like she knew nothing. Now she was just one rank below Sir Ivon and Theodore.
The day the King had announced to the general public of the war that was coming Jane's mother had quickly taken her by the hand into her room.
"I assume there is no way you would ever reconsider, Jane? If you do not wish to fight it is okay, the King has asked to me make sure you are indeed aware of the choices you are making and what you are going into."
Jane was feeling a little bit light headed about this actually. She didn't really want to die, but she could not voice these thoughts. "No mother," she said in a surprisingly calm voice. "I have given an oath for my life to this Kingdom. Now that duty calls, I dare not back down."
Jane's mother nodded and suddenly embraced her daughter in a hug. "I had always hoped for a daughter that was patient, and kind like me and bright like your father. I wanted to dress you into beautiful ball gowns and talk to you about suitors instead of tending to your scrapes and bruises. I thought of all the other daughters but Jane you are better than them all." she said and Jane heard the quiver in her voice, and hugged the frail woman closer to her. "I love you exactly as you are dear."
"Thank you, mother." Jane said, pulling away. "I may not have been your dream daughter but thank you for accepting me and allowing me to choose my own path in this world."
Her mother nodded and handed Jane a velvet box. Giving her mother a curious look, Jane opened the box and saw a necklace and earring set made of pearls and a gold ring with a rather large emerald stone. "I'm so happy the ring matches your eyes perfectly. I - it never looked good on me."
"Why are you giving me this?"
"I wanted to give you this when you were to be married but I am sure this is as good time as any. We never know -"
"Don't," Jane abruptly closed the box and handed it back to her mother. "I am going to survive this. The entire Kingdom will. There's no need for you to give me this now because another day will come. I promise you." Despite Jane's brave words, her mother began crying and Jane enveloped her into a hug once more.
"Please be here a week from now, Jane." Her mother whispered brokenly.
"I will. And then I'll put on the pearls and gold and dad will walk me to the altar. It'll be the wedding you've always dreamed for me." Honestly Jane couldn't imagine a future of getting married and putting on family jewelry but this might actually be the last time with her mom. She wished she had talked to her mother more, instead of blowing her off every chance she got. She wished she had shown her mother her favorite book about history. She wished her mother had gotten a chance to fly on Dragon. She wished she could have told her mother about Gunther and they could have laughed it off and her mother would have held her as she cried. She could have done so much. She wanted to give her mother hope and happiness in case this was her mother's last memory of her. "I promise you." She repeated.
The Queen, Prince and Princess had been quickly relocated to a building far away from this land and would be notified when the battle was over. Without the liveliness of the children the place seemed quiet and everyone was on edge. They were all afraid of what was going to happen but the King was sure the battle was going to be in their favor because he was planning on using Dragon as a weapon. He was going to be kept hidden until the first wave of battle was over but then he would come out and fight for his kingdom - his home.
At first he had objected - he had wanted to be right beside Jane in battle and fight from the very beginning. But Jane argued that Dragon's presence was known of to several kingdoms. What if they had a way to capture him? So the decision was made that he would first make note of the battle and his surroundings and then attack.
"I'll be fine." Jane said to Dragon as she went off to her room. It was the night before the battle. Several people were keeping watch (including Dragon) while the Knights were ordered to be well rested and rise early tomorrow.
"If any idiot hurts a hair on your head-"
"Dragon you know your position." Jane sighed, falling onto her bed. "This isn't about us. It's about how we can protect the Kingdom. Even if you see someone slice my head off you are not to come out until the first wave has finished battling." Dragon huffed but nodded. Jane wished Dragon could actually be by her side but after the vigorous training they had been put through these past few days, Jane had a feeling the enemy would be in for a fight against her. "Now go to sleep, we'll need your fire power ready tomorrow." Jane said, blowing out the candle in the room that was responsible for her light source.
"We are going to get through this, aren't we Jane?" Dragon asked quietly.
Jane smiled at the orange eyes staring at her. "Definetly."
As she turned and tried to sleep, she wondered about her friends. She wondered about Pepper who had left with the the Queen and her children. She wondered how Jester was doing downstairs, sharpening the weapons. She wondered if Rake was going to sleep tonight; he had been drafted into the war because his knowledge of poisonous plants could be used to fight the enemies. She wondered if Smithy was worried about tomorrow because he had volunteered to fight as well. She wondered if she would be able to see the four again after tomorrow.
And then, when she was on the edge of sleep she wondered about Gunther. God knew where he was - she wondered if he was okay. She knew that if he was here he would have calmed the anxiety building up in her. She wondered how different life would be now if he was here and she had not been so full of mistrust.
But in another light, she was glad he was not here. As long as he was not here he would be safe. So she smiled as she realized she had done one good thing. She had kept Gunther safe from this battle.
Before they knew it the sun was rising. The Knights hurriedly ate their breakfast and changed into their armor. There were no words - simply nods and glances of encouragement at one another. They were no longer friends or acquaintances - they were in this together. They were all fighting as one unit.
And then the bell tolled. One minute there was silence and shifting of feet and then they heard it. "They approach!" Someone yelled from the roof of the castle. The Knights gripped their shields and swords tighter and held their ground as the watchers from above came down from their post.
Jane eyed Dragon peeking out of his cave and prayed that he would stay there until it was time. The Knights were placed in several rows. Jane was in the fourth row and twelve rows behind were sharp weapons and clean shields. She took a deep breath as the ground beneath her began to rumble.
"Remember your training!" she heard Sir Ivon yell somewhere to her right. "Aim for unarmoured areas but hit their armour to distract them. And don't forget to use your shields!"
"Do not let anyone get past you!" Sir Theodore yelled and Jane tightened her grip on her sword. This was it. "For the Kingdom!"
The rumble became louder as their Knights also ran into battle and Jane could finally see the people advancing toward them. It felt like there was fire in her veins as she launched her sword into someone's abdomen and was shoved from all sides. She saw that several of the people had metal shields instead of the usual wood probably to protect them from Dragon's flame. She frowned and hoped that Dragon would still be able to harm them.
"Yah!" Jane yelled, her sword clanging against the burly man in front of her. Somewhere behind her a cannon went off and she saw several of the enemies fall down. But it would be better if she paid attention to the enemy in front of her. While she had looked at the casualties the cannon had caused the man in front of her had taken a swing and had boxed one of Jane's ears. She could hear a high pitched ringing and held up her shield to block his next hit. That's enough defense come on, Jane. Fight me back. She heard Gunther's teasing voice whisper in her ear. Must've taken the blow harder than I thought, Jane mused before aiming for the guys' legs. He was so big that one attack to the back of his knees had him down and with a kick to his head, he was out like a light.
Two down, Jane said to herself charging at a man who was fighting Rake. He had wrestled the poor gardener to the ground and his blade was inches away from her poor friend's neck. "Get off him!" Jane yelled, lifting her sword up and swinging it clean through the man's shoulder. Shining red blood flew everywhere as the man screamed. Jane kicked away the fallen arm and helped Rake up. Upon seeing the blood and the severed arm he crouched and began to vomit.
Jane's mind was spinning and she wanted to do the same but instead she used both her and Rake's shield to defend them whilst he composed himself.
After a minute which seemed like an eternity to Jane Rake stood up straight and took his shield from Jane and stood back to back with her. "I lost my sword somehow!" Rake yelled at her, holding the shield in front of his face.
Jane knew that without a sword Rake would be killed in an instant. But she couldn't stand here and fight people for him, she could barely fight off the men coming at her. And she needed to make sure they were not in the position that the cannon was set to fire.
Suddenly she got an idea and picked up a sword from the enemy's hand she arm just severed. "Take that!" she yelled.
"No! Jane I can't! That-"
"It's that or your life Rake! Choose now!" Jane said taking a stance as some men had noticed Rake was without a weapon. They're going to cut your throats. Leave the gardener and watch out for yourself. Gunther's voice sounded in her ear again. Jane whipped her head around but did not see the raven haired boy - all she saw were two men with swords headed for her and Rake. I'm not leaving him to die! She yelled at the Gunther sounding voice in her head. "Rake!" She heard Rake make a vomiting noise again but he was soon brandishing the bloody sword. Jane nodded at him in encouragement. "Run to your right but then fake and we'll switch partners!" Jane yelled.
Rake shook his head as they charged, Jane made it sound like a dance. He wondered if she did not see war as he did. He wondered if she did not think that these men were people with families and lovers and memories and friendships just like them.
Rake's sword clanged against the man's and he felt his shoe slipping in the blood beneath him. "I can't do this, Jane!" he yelled, tears springing in his eyes. "I-"
"Think of Pepper!" Jake grunted, holding her shield up so she could better gauge the man's weakness. "Think of protecting her and your home, Rake! This is your home! We can't let her down!"
From behind her she heard a loud yell and assumed it was Rake fighting back. Jane shifted her sword to her other hand and stabbed the man in front of her through his sides. He fell down with a gasp and Jane swallowed down the urge to vomit. When she looked around she saw that Rake was still standing.
"We can do this!" Jane yelled at him, and kicked Rake's fighter under the knees so that he fell. Rake kicked the sword away from him and Jane delivered a hard blow to his head.
They were at the edge of the battle and Rake showed her some leaves stored in his pockets. "If I had a chance to rub this in their eyes I could beat them so much easier!" he said.
Jane nodded and looked around at the battle. Everyone had some sort of weapon; how could Rake get close to someone's eyes without putting himself in immediate danger? "Go for the shorter ones." Jane said suddenly. "And come at them from the back so they don't see you. You're skinny so you can hide behind others and surprise them. Don't go fighting anyone on your own, try to help others out; especially those fighting shorter people."
Rake nodded, "Are you sure it'll work?"
"We can do this, Rake." Jane said to him once again. Then her eyes caught two people charging at Sir Theodore. "And keep your shield up!" she yelled running back into battle. She cared about Rake - she really did but as she saw the two men in blue armor charging at her elderly mentor, her feet began running back into the battle; she didn't have time to help Rake.
The men charged at Sir Theodore and while he attacked one, the other managed to slash him in the back.
"No!" Jane roared, seeing blood spilling. She crashed into the guy and began circling him. "Two against one, that's hardly a fair fight." From the corner of her eye she saw that Sir Theodore had managed to knock out the other guy but he was having difficulty breathing.
The guy in front of Jane laughed. "It's a war son, you do what you have to to win."
"Knights are honorable!" Jane yelled, lunging at the guy. "And I am not a son!" She hit his sword with her own and then pushed it through the guy's leg. He roared in pain and dropped down to the ground. Jane grabbed his sword and kicked him in the face. "Jane!" a familiar voice yelled out. But he wasn't - To her left, a canon landed and an explosion went off that threw Jane backwards.
When she came to, she saw several dead bodies around her.
"Gunther?" she murmured, trying to see the face that had called out her name. However, none of the people around her were Gunther.
Jane gritted her teeth as the pain hit her. The armour on her torso was damaged and her helmet had been thrown off – exposing her curly ginger hair. Above, she saw Dragon roaring fire and she called out to him weakly.
Groaning, she managed to stand and grab the first sword and shield she saw. In the rubble she saw Sir Theodore faced down. Blood was trickling down his back and she could tell he had taken a hard fall from the cannon. She cried out as she reached him. His body was absolutely still – but there was still a chance there had to be!
Some people around her were beginning to also come to their senses meaning she had to act quickly.
She grabbed Sir Theodore's arm and hoisted him onto her shoulder. "Sir Theodore, can you hear me?" Jane exclaimed. Her ears were still ringing – she could barely hear herself. "Please be okay," she whispered as she tried to make her way back inside the castle. She had to step over several bodies and the sad thing was she recognized some as the villagers. Were they losing? Finally she made it to the castle doors and a medic took Sir Theodore from her hands.
"Come in, we should check your wounds." The man said to her, but Jane waved it off and grabbed a new shield.
"Take care of him. I need a new helmet, do you have one back there?" she hollered. The man gave her a look but then handed her a new helmet. After securing it she accepted a drink of water but headed back into the battle field immediately. This was her home and she was a Knight. This was her duty.
Her bones were on fire and her head was pounding but she was not done yet. She had made promises and oaths and she was not going to let people down.
"Argh!" Someone yelled crashing into her. Jane hit the ground hard and her vision blurred as someone threw a punch to her face. "You all are so weak!" The man above her laughed. "If it wasn't for that beast flying in the air above us you'd be nothing!"
He aimed another punch but Jane managed to roll out of the way. With a huff she straightened herself. "You don't know who we are!" she yelled at him. It was getting harder to breathe and she felt like she would fall down at any possible moment. And what was worse – the bearded man in front of her knew it.
"Oh yeah?" he asked, charging at her with his sword.
Jane held up her own in defense but she could feel him weighing down on her. With a burst of energy she pushed against him and he stumbled backwards. He groaned and charged at Jane again, murder in his eyes. He was coming at her faster than she could think of a way to stop him and just when she was on the verge of panicking someone stepped in front of her and blocked the man's attack.
Jane's vision blurred and she struggled to make out who had helped her. Before she had time to think about it another man charged at her and Jane held up her shield. When the man stumbled back Jane reared her fist and hit him square in the jaw. Then the man who had protected her reached around and began choking Jane's enemy while Jane stepped in front of him to go after the bearded guy once more.
"On your right, Jane!" the man behind her yelled. For a second Jane caught his eye and she immediately recognized him. Adrenaline rushed in her veins as she charged at the bearded man once more and slashed his leg.
Then she turned back around. He was still struggling with the guy but it was him. "Gunther?"
He looked up for a minute and nodded. Jane wanted to analyze this moment; she wanted to forever remember this because he was here. He was back. Smiling, she turned to her right and beheaded a man. And then when the blood hit the floor she remembered what was happening.
People were dying, this was war.
Gunther had happened to return on the day their Kingdom was being attacked. How did he even know to come? Was this just a coincidence or was he fighting against them? Jane did not have a chance to ask because Dragon was suddenly flying over head. Jane crouched down and pulled Gunther along with her, knowing they would be burned to a crisp if they did not get out of harm's way.
He did not question her when she pulled a dead man on top of her for protection as Dragon blazed a fire all around them. He could tell she had lots of questions and probably wanted to yell at him but all Gunther felt was fear. A fire could not be controlled. If they wanted to get out of here alive they had to do it now.
Taking Jane by the arm, he pushed through several people until they reached the edge of the battle field. A burning smell surrounded them and they heard several people screaming in agony as they took deep breaths.
Jane coughed loudly and was brought to her knees by the lack of proper breathing air. She wanted to help fight, she wanted to help get their kingdom out of the line of fire but this was all her body could endure. Her legs gave way and her vision began to blacken. She heard the enemy's faint call of, "Retreat! There's no fighting the monster!" before she hit the ground.
Gunther sighed as he drank another cup of water. It was killing him to be out here while they nursed Jane's wounds but her mother had insisted. He had managed to bring Jane back into the castle out of harm's way after the battle but not before she had lost consciousness. He had spent the whole of yesterday at her side mumbling things to make her wake up.
And when she finally did, they asked her to leave.
He looked at the ceiling of the room and sighed again. At least she was okay. That could not be said for the 21 people lying motionless under white sheets outside the castle. They'd rounded up the fallen last night and had begun digging graves. To his knowledge six had been buried so far.
Maybe he should go out there and help, he thought. Maybe it would take his mind off of Jane. He paced back and forth and was about to follow through with the idea when the door finally opened.
The doctors came out and finally so did Jane's mother. "She wants to see you," the lady said, eyeing Gunther peculiarly.
Gunther almost died from relief. He had been so afraid Jane might have not made it or had forgotten him. He nodded and quietly entered the room. His knees weakened seeing all of the bruises and bandages on her body.
"Hi," Jane whispered up at him. Gunther's throat felt tight – if he had only gotten there sooner she would not have been so wounded. "You can sit down, you know." Jane said eyeing the chair next to the bed. Instead, Gunther came to her bed and knelt beside it. He didn't touch her and Jane didn't know whether it was out of politeness or whether he did not want to. "Where did you go?" Jane asked. "Three weeks ago when you – When I yelled at you to-"
Gunther shook his head so Jane would not continue. There was no need to really, he was sure they were past all that. After seeing Jane almost die in the battle field he wanted nothing more than to be by her side forever, even if she yelled at him. He would never leave her again.
"I went back to my old home." He said. "There were some property issues with my father's old house – I was selling it."
"Past tense?" Jane asked, wondering if Gunther was planning to go back. She hoped not because she didn't know how much her heart could take.
Gunther nodded. "I sold it, there's no problem now."
Jane breathed a sigh of relief and the room was quiet again. "Th- they said Sir Theodore didn't make it." Jane whispered, her voice quivering. "I carried him all the way back – I can't believe they couldn't-"
Gunther put his hand around Jane's. "We all did everything we could Jane. He would have been so proud."
Jane nodded. "I keep seeing him – and seeing all the other bodies and I dreamt that your face was among them I-"
Gunther squeezed her hand tighter as Jane sobbed. "I'm right here, Jane. I'm never going anywhere, I'm alive and I'm staying by your side."
"I must be dead though," Jane whispered. "I must be dead and this is my imagination because there is no – no way Sir Theodore is dead and we won and you are standing here beside me. You left," Gunther's heart constricted and he cupped Jane's face in his hand. "I must be dead on the battle field too."
Gunther shook his head. "No, no Jane. Concentrate on me." He said, gazing into her sorrow filled green eyes. He had always seen her full of happiness and energy. This Jane unnerved him. "You're alive," he said with a smile. "I came as soon as I could and you saw me in the battle field, remember?"
Jane nodded, sitting up and making room for Gunther to sit on the bed beside her. "How did you even know to come?"
"As I was traveling to my father's land I heard someone mentioning something about an attack on a Kingdom because they planned to capture their dragon. I assumed this was the only place with a dragon so I sent the King a letter and told him. That's how he knew to ready the Kingdom."
Jane nodded. "And that's why the King asked if you could be trusted or not." She mused. "Because he wanted to know if you were telling the truth,"
"The King asked you whether or not you could trust me? What did you say?"
Jane looked up and Gunther and smiled. "I love you, Gunther." She said and watched as Gunther's face lifted into a smile. "I love you and that's exactly what I said."
Gunther lowered his head and pressed a soft kiss against Jane's lips. "I love you too." He said, his heart hammering in his chest. "I love you and I vow never to leave you again, Jane." Jane nodded and reached up to kiss him again. He held her close without disturbing her wounds. When he pulled away, he had tears in his eyes and Jane kissed them away as they fell down his cheeks. "For a long time, I was a nomad. I had no idea who I was and I went everywhere looking for a home. I searched for so long that after a while I couldn't even remember the feeling of belonging somewhere." He felt Jane squeeze his hand and found the strength to continue. "But now I have. Jane, if you will let me I want to make my home here with you. I promise to protect you," he kissed her temple. "I promise to stay by your side," he kissed her hands. "And I promise to love you. If you will let me," He ended, his lips finding hers.
Jane smiled tearfully and rested her forehead against his. "Of course," she said, feeling something stirring in her chest. The last time she had felt this was when she had run away from Gunther – when she had felt her heart break. But now she felt if happening in reverse; she felt her heart filling up with her love for the handsome, wonderful and brave man in front of her. "I love you so much."
FIN.
A/N: WOW I think this was one of my most favorite stories to write. THANK YOU ALL for having stayed with me and giving this story a chance! There are no words to explain how I feel right now. I am so sad to see this story finished (and in only 10 chapters!) but I do plan on writing another JanexGunther story with a Harry Potter crossover. Follow me if you guys are interested in the idea.
But back to this story. Anyway I know we have a small fanbase, but I do appreciate all and any who have read this. Thank you for sharing in such magic and I hope you enjoyed the ending. Love you lots! XOXO
