Bella was packing an extra change of clothes for me as I got ready for the meeting. "Why can't I come," she pouted as she stuffed shorts in my bag.
"Because you need your sleep," i stated pulling on a tank top.
"I need my sleep? Really Leah that's all you got for me?"
I shrugged lightly. "Well it is true, you know? Next Tuesday is your first day of senior year and we both know how hard it is for you to adjust back to school."
"But that's next week! Let me come with you."
I chuckled shaking my head. "The meeting isn't even going to be that long. We're just going to make a plan for when Rach gets backd." I walked over to her and wrap my arms around her waist. "Don't worry I'll tell you everything that happens."
"But-"
Pressing my finger against her lips I silenced her immediately. "Don't fight me on this one Bells," I whispered. "You can come to the next meeting with me."
She sighed heavily losing her resolve. "Fine." Grinning I leaning down and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "But you owe me."
"Whatever you want."
(FOREST)
"So what are we doing here," Embry asked scratching his stubble. "Not that I mind missing my patrol for this or anything. I just want to know if we should be prepared for something or not."
"Yeah Sam why are we here," Jared asked leaning against a tree.
"Leave Sam alone," I sighed slight annoyed. I told Sam to give everyone a rundown. Why was that so hard to do. "I'm the one that asked Sam to call this meeting. And the reason for that is that Rachel Black will be back in two days."
Paul frowned slightly. "Okay and that means what to us?"
"It means that she will become a sister in this pack," I stated trying not to get even more annoyed. "She was close to shifting before Billy sent her off. With the time away it seemed as if it was only slowing it down. Which I guess it has to a certain degree but after talking to her I know she is only a push or two away from shifting."
"So what are you suggesting?"
"That we all watch her very closely when she gets back. Also on her first day back I'm suggesting that two people are ready in their wolf form around her house. And someone comes with me to 'hang out' with her." There was a small silence as everyone took in what I said. I looked over to Sam who looked slightly tense as he stared at me. "What do you think Sam?"
He rubbed the back of his neck slowly while looking at the boys. "Jared, Paul and I will be shift and ready for anything. Embry will back you up if anything happens. Granted we all have to keep in mind that she might not shift right away but we need to be ready for anything."
"Sounds good," Paul yawned. "I was wondering how long it would be before someone else shifted. It was starting to get boring." Sam sent him a glare causing him to shrug lightly. "You guys have to agree that chasing a newly shift wolf is pretty fun."
I let a grin slip as I thought how exciting it was to run through the forest after a new brother. No one would admit it out loud but the chase was the best. It pushed you to new limits and made the wolf pretty happy.
"But the part that comes after the chase sucks ass," I stated. Paul grunted in agreement ending the conversation quickly.
"Everyone is dismissed," Sam stated looking at everyone but me. The boys all began to leave happy to get back to sleep. I started to make my way towards my house before Sam had to ruin that. "Leah can you stay back for a second?"
Sighing I turned towards him crossing my arms. "What can I help you with oh mighty alpha," I asked sarcastically once the boys are out of earshot.
"How are you doing?" He stopped me from going home to ask how I was doing... Giving him the youcan'tbefuckingserious look, I cracked my neck slowly. "I mean wolf wise how are you doing?"
"I'm doing fine. I would be doing three times better if I was off towards my home right about now," I answered quickly.
"Right...Leah I know you have a lot on your mind but I would like you to think about maybe becoming the Beta when Rachel is ready to become Alpha."
"Beta? Shouldn't you be the one to become Beta once she takes your spot?"
"I could choose to take the Beta spot but right now I'm thinking about what's best for the Pack. As Alpha I notice who works better with who. In the short time that Jared has been in this pack I know he would be a good Beta for me. He picks up what I lack. Paul and Embry work well together because Paul makes him push to be better at being a wolf and Embry shows Paul how to keep an leveled head. But when I watch you interact with the boys its like they all benefit in one way or another from you but you don't really get anything in return from them."
"What I get from them is more people that I know will have my back when it comes down to it. That's all I need in return Sam."
"I believe it," he replied quickly. "And that's why you would be perfect for the Beta spot."
Groaning I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Not you too," I sighed heavily. "I've been hearing that a lot lately...well me being in charge not second in command that is. However I'm perfectly happy with where I am now."
"You don't have to accept this right now I just want you to think about it."
"Alright Sam I'll think about it. Can I go now?"
"Yes."
(Home)
I walked into my room as quietly as possible. Bella was asleep and I wanted to keep it that way. Quickly putting on jogging pants I slowly crept towards my side of the bed. Once there I slid gently in careful not to disturb her I pulled her close to me and allowed myself to become wrapped in her scent.
It was these moments that I enjoyed the most. The peaceful ones that no one could take from me. Where the world is silent and there is just her and me.
Bella moaned lightly as she scouted closer to me. "So...what's the plan," she mumbled.
"All hands on deck," I replied softly.
"Meaning?"
"Meaning that when she get here every wolf will be ready for anything that could happen once she steps foot on the Rez. Embry and I will be visiting her and the rest of the guys will be wolfed out. If she shifts Embry and I will be guiding her towards the woods. Then the rest of the pack will contain her."
"Sounds fun." was the only thing Bella had to say before drifting back to sleep.
Chuckling I pressed my lips against her neck. I highly doubt that she heard anything that I said but i didn't care I kept my promise. Like I always would to her.
Bella was pressed against me crying. Panic filled my chest as I held her tightly. What was going on?!.
"Bella what's wrong," asked feeling my heart speed up. When she made no move to answer i pulled her away so i could see her face. And once I did it felt like my heart stopped beating. She had the most heartbreaking look on her that i have ever seen accompanied by a pair of blood red eyes. "Bella what's wrong?"
"Leah please don't go," she sobbed. "Please don't leave me."
As I was going to answer her a voice that sounded like mine but colder answered first. "I have to...Bella if I don't I really don't think I will be able to...stop next time."
"It doesn't have to be like this!"
"Do you think this is what I wanted?! To have the love of my life turned in a vampire and not be able to control my wolf long enough to hold her? I failed to protect you and I failed the pack. If I don't leave now only more people will get hurt. I wouldn't kill myself if...if I hurt you. I love you Bella...I always will.
Snapping up I let out the breath that I was holding. Dreams of not being able to protect the ones we loved were common among wolves. Rubbing my face I reminded myself that it was only a dream. Looking over to a peacefully sleeping Bella I sighed in relief calming myself down. Bella was safe and that was all I needed to know before I wrapped her in my arms and pulled her into my over heated body. .
Next Morning
I groaned as sunlight beamed in my closed eyes. "Close the curtain Bells," I mumbled as I covered my head with a nearby pillow.
"Leah breakfast is waiting for you," Bella sung.
Chuckling I poked my head out my pillow to look at her. "Breakfast? What time is it?"
"It is seven o'clock."
"Bella why are you up so early? And why are you waking me up so early," I asked sitting up knowing that I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep anytime soon.
"Well you have patrol tonight so I figure that we spend the day together."
"We can do that," I grinned standing up with the biggest smile on my face. "Why don't you lead the way to breakfast then sweetheart." Bella grinned as she grabbed my hand and lead me to the kitchen.
My mouth began to water as the smell of bacon hit my nose. As soon as we entered the kitchen Bella grabbed two plates and set them at the table. My mouth dropped open as I saw how much food she packed onto my plate.
She sat down with a small smile on her face. "So are things ready for when Rachel gets back?" I should have known that was coming. Even though I could argue that I told her last night I didn't want to deal with her wrath. Taking a couple strips of bacon I stuffed it in my mouth and gave her a nonchalant nod. "That's good. Anything else happen?"
Swallowing what was in my mouth I sighed heavily. "Sam thinks I will be a good Beta for Rachel and he wanted me to think it over."
"Beta? You should-"
"I know be Alpha but who says I should be either?"
"Destiny maybe?"
"Maybe."
A/N: Sorry for the long wait guys. I know I said I would answers questions this chapter but I sadly have to push it back. I have a lot on my plate right now. So I wanted to get this out before I fully die from stress. lol
