Chapter 10
It was a blow out last weekend when we got back to Damon's place. Daddy, Jasper and Emmett were pissed at my Mate. Damon was pissed at himself but didn't like that my family wanted to take me away from him. Once I got them to all stop and listen, I convinced Daddy and my brothers to let me stay with Damon as that was part of the problem earlier.
Damon and I then talked. I found out how he was feeling neglected and jealous. He still wasn't happy about Daddy being an Original. It all came to a head when I had the table and chairs delivered and he didn't know how to tell me. It was an emotional conversation for me and I know difficult for Damon as he had to talk about his feelings. I hope this will be a turning point.
We decided that each Friday night was just for the two of us as a date night. He even agreed to pick me up from Daddy's as I wanted the experience of being picked up from a parent's place instead of us just walking out together. It gave to an air of anticipation that we wouldn't normally have. He smiled at my excitement.
He loved the idea of me coming over after school every day when he heard that's what I wanted. Depending on if Elena was around, we agreed to adjust as necessary but knew the adjustments would include the both of us. I still wanted to stay as far away from her as possible.
While he wasn't thrilled, he accepted that I would stay at Klaus's at least three school nights a week, to be determined depending on my cousin. He also realized I would want to hang out with my friends so while I would eventually make my way to his place it might not be right after school.
While it seems controlling we needed to set these boundaries and surprisingly I suggested most of them. I had been feeling the distance and wanted more time with him. I'm sure it'll change in the future but with all the uncertainties right now, the more time I got with Damon the better.
This past week I spent more time with Damon than anyone outside of school. He even came to get me for my lunch hour. On Monday it was a total surprise but I was thrilled and he did so for the rest of the week. One day he brought a picnic lunch and we sat outside and just spent time together.
Our friends didn't know about our fight and were confused as to why he was showing up but I didn't care. The gang has been trying to convince me to get Daddy to back off from using Elena but I knew everything would be fine. Even Bonnie couldn't refute the spell and potion as she helped to set it all up. For now, the gang and I didn't hang out due to our difference of opinions on the matter of Daddy doing the ritual and killing Elena, even if only temporarily.
It's Friday and I feel like there's too much going on. While I've spent most of my time this past week with Damon I also did a lot of shopping for Daddy. The Mansion is all painted and I found a few things. Damon was actually a huge help. When I told him what I was looking for he was able to take me to these hidden gems of a place and I was able to find what I wanted.
I did go to a furniture store with Daddy one day and picked out beds for his siblings and myself. He picked out his as well and Daddy had those arranged to be delivered. Daddy also had stuff in storage like I thought and arranged for all that to be brought out as well. All this was done and as of tonight we will be staying at the Mansion.
Daddy has all his siblings in the drawing room. Yes, he told me how they are daggered and I convinced him to undagger them tonight since tomorrow is the full moon and we'll be doing the ritual to break the curse on his Werewolf side. He and I argued about me being there but I put my foot down. I wanted to be around to support him. Elijah isn't invited because I don't like him right now. Maybe in time but I want to meet my Aunt and other Uncles before Elijah can prejudice them any more against Daddy than they already will be. As it worked out, Daddy put the Mansion in my name so Elijah can't come in anyways as I haven't invited him. I've only invited Daddy and Damon for the moment. I did 'invite' Rebecca, Finn, & Kol so when they wake up they won't be in pain from not being invited.
"Bella are you sure about this?" Damon asked. I knew he was as worried as Daddy and they were actually teamed up against me about this.
"Yes," I sighed. I was tired of this same argument. "I really think it'll be better for me to be there. I know Daddy can protect me and I'm not worried. Besides, Maddox spelled the house so I can uninvited any vampire and they will be forcefully removed from the premises. Or don't you remember?" I had tested it on both Daddy and Damon so they knew it worked and how it worked. This way as soon as I said the words which ever vampire I named would go flying out the door so I could protect myself that way at the very least.
"Still," Daddy tired.
"NO!" I was done. "I'm staying and that's final." I glared at both for a minute and when they didn't try to keep arguing I moved one. "I think we should get started. Damon I know you want to be here but it'll be best to not have any more people around than necessary. Please?"
"Fine," Damon huffed before grabbing me in a hug and giving me a searing kiss. My head was spinning and after a second I smiled at him before he took off.
"Daddy lets go," I smiled and waited for him to collect his thoughts.
"Alright," Daddy sighed and we moved to the drawing room. Daddy quickly took the daggers out before standing slightly in front of me to wait for the three Originals to come back to life.
I had looked at them before Daddy undaggered them and could tell by their clothes how long they had been daggered. Finn's clothes actually looked to be disintegrating in places because of how old they were seeing as he was daggered in 1114.. Kol's clothes were more typical for the early 1900's which made sense seeing as Daddy said Kol was last daggered in 1914. Rebecca's clothes were closer to Kol's as she was daggered in 1920. Her dress actually reminded me of the flapper dresses that were so popular during the 1920's.
I felt Daddy tense and knew my Aunt and Uncles would be awake soon. I'm not sure why but I knew this would be a big moment for everyone. I was excited as I've always wanted a large family.
I didn't know what was going on. The last thing I remember was trying to get away from Klaus as he knew I was going to kill him. Then Elijah was there and then nothing...till now.
Dammit! They must have daggered me.
I could smell Klaus, Becca, Finn, and a human. While I knew I needed to feed, I didn't want to feed on the human. I wanted the human to be safe, the human smelled like family. What the hell is going on?
All this went through my mind as I was sitting up and looking around. I saw my brother Finn sitting up and awake for the first time in 900 years, give or take, on my right and my sister was sitting up on my left. Apparently our dear brother kept most of us out of commission for some length of time, though it did surprise me he daggered Becca. She always supported him no matter what so she must have done something to piss him off. I didn't see Elijah but since he's such a stick in the mud it didn't bother me.
"Brother," I spoke to Niklaus but was looking at the human girl slightly behind him. Hers was the scent that smelled amazing but I only wanted to protect her. I knew on some deep level she was family. I could only hope she wouldn't disregard me the way my siblings have for over a millennium. "Who is the delectable human?" Even if I didn't want to hurt her I was still willing to antagonize my brother since he seemed so protective of the girl.
"She's off limits Kol," Klaus growled speaking to all of us but I knew he was most worried about me due to my bloody history.
"So why bring such wonderful smelling blood into the room when we just woke up after so long?" I could see the hunger in Becca's eyes and instinctively got ready to defend the girl.
"Yes, why brother?" Finn queried his body leaning towards the girl.
"She insisted," Klaus had shifted just a bit making sure he could protect the girl from all of us. "She's stubborn!"
"Yes, just like you Daddy," she giggled.
"Daddy?!" Becca, Finn, and I all froze in shock.
"I'm Isabella Mickelson but please call me Bella," the girl spoke when she realized Klaus wasn't going to give anything more than he had to. "I'm really excited to meet you all. I hope we'll be able to get to know each other. Daddy has told me some stories but I really want to know each of you."
"I'm Kol," I recovered and moved towards her but Klaus stopped me.
"I'm warning you," Klaus growled. "She is my daughter and I will not only dagger you if you hurt her but I will kill you."
"Daddy," Bella gently scolded him. He shifted just enough for me to really see the girl. She didn't really look like Klaus or any Mickelson but she had the stubbornness to be one. "Hi Kol," Bella smiled and I couldn't help but smile back. I could feel the familial bond settling into place. "I think you'll be my fun Uncle," she declared and I was gone.
Waking up after being daggered was always disorientating. I was even more surprised to see Klaus had undaggered Kol and Finn as well. Finn has been daggered so long I sometimes thought Klaus would never undagger him.
The next big surprise was the human girl, Bella, who Klaus was extremely protective of. Hearing Klaus call this human his daughter was strange but seeing Kol take to her was something else entirely. The human spoke to both Klaus and Kol and treated them familiarly. While all this was strange, the really odd part was I felt a familial connection to the girl and kept an eye on Kol to make sure he didn't try to hurt her.
"Fun Uncle?" I couldn't stop myself from interjecting.
"Yes, he reminds me of a frat boy who likes to have fun and party," Bella chuckled and smiled to Kol before turning to me. "You, though, I hope will be my trusted Aunt."
"Of course," I agreed quickly hearing how wistful she sounded. I could feel a cross between a sisterly and maternal bond with her.
"Why now?" I was taken out of my head by my brother Finn. It's the first time I had heard his voice in almost a millennium.
"Excuse me?" Klaus raised an eyebrow.
"Why did you undagger us now?" Finn elaborated.
"It's time for us to be a family again," Klaus answered.
"Daddy, how about you get them something to drink and let them clean up before you go into your story," Bella interrupted. "What I know of it isn't a short story and I know I don't know it all."
"You know what we are?" Finn had rounded on Bella causing Klaus, Kol, and myself to growl.
"I do," Bella was honest. "I think my story would also be best until all three of you are settled. I can show Aunt Rebecca to her suite and Daddy can show you and Uncle Kol."
"Thank you Bella," I beamed when she called me Aunt. After Klaus glared at me for a full minute he allowed Bella to lead me to my room. "So how long was I daggered for?"
"According to Daddy it's been almost a century," Bella answered. "Here's your suite. This main room is the sitting room, through the door on the left is your bedroom and the door on the right is one of the entrances to your bathroom. There's another entrance through you room as well."
"Thank you," I smiled. I was looking forward to getting to know her. "Did Klaus pick everything out?"
"No, he asked me to help," Bella looked nervous. "Since I didn't know what you would like, I tried to get only a few things so you could decorate yourself, but I saw a vanity that is in your bedroom that I hope you like. Daddy and I refinished it ourselves. "
"Oh!" I saw the vanity and it was amazing. "I have never had anyone do something like this for me. Thank you so much!"
"I also picked out some clothes. Daddy gave me your sizes but I only got some basics. I figure you'll want to go shopping and get things in your own style."
"Thank you," I repeated myself but didn't have any other words to express my gratitude. She made sure I had some things to start out but also thought about my feelings and knew I'd want to shop on my own. I'm sure part of that was from Klaus but still, it was very thoughtful of her.
"Your welcome," Bella grinned. "I was happy to help and get things ready for you. I'm going to wait in the sitting room while you get cleaned up and changed." She had showed me how to use the shower before going into the other room.
All five of us walked up to the second floor together before Klaus showed first Kol then me our rooms. He explained the color and furniture was picked out by Bella but was done with the expectation we would change everything to meet our needs. She got the basics so we were comfortable. Klaus picked out some clothes as well for us but said we'd go shopping to get more and allow us to determine our own style in this new era.
After Klaus showed me how to work the shower I enjoyed washing off the centuries of death that clung to me. I was confused as to why but understood the need for all of us to 'wake up' from our death sleep before going into that story.
I was also intrigued by Bella. I don't know much about my brother since he daggered me, but even back then I could never imagine him having a child. I had seen how protective he was of the girl and that made something deep inside me feel calmer.
When I had woken I smelt her blood and it smells divine, but after the initial whiff I didn't want to hurt her but keep her safe. Something deep inside was telling me she was family and we protect family, even when we want to kill our own.
"Finn, are you done?" Kol knocked and hollered through the door.
"Yeah, come on in," Kol swung the door open and I saw both him and Klaus. "Where are the girls?"
"I assume they are still in Becca's room," Klaus answered. He stayed back in the hall. "We can head down and get you something to drink. I have some blood on hand for now and you can go hunt after I explain myself."
Neither Kol nor I said anything but we did follow Klaus down to the kitchen.
"Bella?" Klaus blurred to the girl after seeing Becca with a glass of blood.
"I'm fine Daddy," Bella smiled. "We were done and knew you boys would make your way down eventually. I heated some blood up for you three and it's simmering on the stove."
"Thank you Bella," I smiled to the girl before moving to the stove and ladling some blood into a cup.
Since we are all fortified with blood I decided it was time to tell them 'why now.' I led them into the sitting room and indicated for everyone to take a seat. I had Bella sit in a chair near where I was standing so I could keep her protected should my siblings decide to attack.
"Ultimately I daggered each of you because I wanted to keep you safe from Mikael," I started and kept talking even when they looked at me like I was crazy. "When I actually daggered you I was pissed for one reason or another but the under lying reason was to keep Mikael from getting to close to kill any of us. While Mikael is still a threat, I am doing the ritual to unlock my Werewolf side tomorrow evening and want my family there to share that moment with me. Also, Bella convinced me having us all standing together against Mikael will be better than standing alone."
"Ok," Becca said slowly as if she wasn't sure if she should believe me or not.
"Where's Elijah then?" Finn asked.
"He's here in town," I answered. "We aren't seeing eye to eye at the moment. He found the doppelganger but wasn't going to tell me. As you know, the doppelganger blood is key to unlocking my Werewolf side. He and I aren't quite on the same page but we have a spell and potion that will bring the doppelganger back to life as a human after I drain her."
"So why wasn't he here when you undaggered us?" Kol pushed.
"That was my suggestion," Bella spoke up. All three of my siblings looked at her shocked. "Before I get into the why of that I want to tell you about how I know Daddy." She then relayed how we met when she was young, why I left, her moving to live with Charlie, dating a Cold One, her move to Mystic Falls, and running into me again. "Before I ran into Daddy, Elijah struck a deal with my cousin, the doppelganger, to protect her from Daddy. From the day he was introduced to me I felt he was hiding something. Come to find out, he was hiding the fact that he was the elder brother to the one in search of the doppelganger. Ever since then I haven't trusted him. I don't know if he truly was going to keep Elena, my cousin, away from Daddy or if he was tricking Elena but either way I don't trust him."
"So he willingly stayed away or did you not tell him?" Finn asked.
"He knows I am undaggering you today, but the house is in Bella's name and she hasn't invited him in," I explained. "He's probably not that far and will find you as soon as you leave."
"I wanted you to hear Daddy out before Elijah could spin the story to make Daddy look worse," Bella interjected again. "I know what Daddy did wasn't good, but he had his reasons and I wanted you to hear it from him before it was colored by someone else's opinion. I realize you all have your own reasons to not want to trust Daddy but at least those are based on your own experiences with Daddy and not someone else telling you as story. That being said, I hope you hear Elijah out when you have the opportunity as I don't want my bias to color your opinion."
"That is a lot to take in," Becca was wide eyed at how passionate Bella was speaking about me.
"Is that everything?" Kol asked.
"That's the gist of it," I said. "I'm sure there are more details that we'll fill in as we go. To try and explain the last century to you and Becca and almost millennium to Finn would probably take days. I will do my best to answer any and all questions you have and I am sorry for keeping you all daggered but like I said, ultimately I was worried about Mikael killing you and this was the only way I knew you were truly safe. I had your coffins cloaked by a witch so only I knew where they were. Even the witch who cloaked them didn't know where they were unless I told him."
After that they all asked to go out for a bit. Bella and I walked out with them knowing Elijah was probably close by. In this way, it would allow any of my siblings to go with him but also let them know Bella and I are there for them as well.
"Finn, Kol, Becca," Elijah walked up and greeted them. "Can we talk?"
"Sure," Finn agreed. Becca and Kol looked torn.
"Remember, you should hear him out as he is your brother," Bella reminded them. They still seemed like they didn't want to but agreed as well. The four of them then took off.
Bella just smiled and gave me a hug before heading back inside to call Damon. I knew he was going to be worried until he heard from her and she would probably end up spending the night with him, hopefully here for my own peace of mind.
