Early that next morning he awoke and felt the guilt eating at him ferociously as he sat at the edge of the bed. Milori began to blame Clarion's dreams on himself, finding every way possible to convince that it was indeed his fault. He glanced to her and watched for a few moments as she slept.
In the next instant she began to whimper and cry. Immediately he was kneeling on the icy floor beside her. He took her hand in his own and brushed the hair away from her eyes, staying there for a short while. After a few minutes she was peaceful once more.
Sadly this was not the first time this had happened. First, he had been awoken by her crying and he had quickly tried to sooth her in anyway possible. This went on multiple times throughout the early morning. All the while she would never wake.
He let out a sigh, stood up, and began to pace around the room. All along he had feared that this would happen and he thought he was prepared for the worst, but he hadn't thought this would affect her so much. Never had it crossed his mind that any of this would happen. She has done nothing, yet they despise her and make it so she fears them.
After another few moments he walked over and knelt down beside her again. Lightly, he kissed her forehead, trying not to wake her. Then he got up and left, reluctantly fighting the urge to stay and watch over her.
Everytime he had left her alone he had come so much closer to losing her. He would be heartbroken if he were to never see her again. Even the thought of putting her in danger worried him tremendously.
Some time later Clarion awoke. She was half expecting Milori to be lying next to her and when she would look to him he'd be staring back at her with his kind smile. Though somehow she knew he wouldn't be there by her side. When she realized his owl feathered cape was wrapped around her she understood that he was not carrying out his usual duties.
As she stood she let out a silent yawn. It felt like she hadn't slept at all, not with the constant nightmare lingering in her thoughts and recreating itself. The mere thought of it made her want to hide away under the covers all day. She wouldn't sleep, just lay there in silence. Despite how nice that would be she knew she had a duty to fulfil.
Outside she was greeted by Phoebus. The magnificent bird stood tall awaiting her command, "I have been ordered to take you wherever you wish, your highness."
She already knew where she wanted to go. "Take me to him."
"I have been told to take you anywhere except his current destination."
"But you do know where he is?".
Phoebus didn't reply, but even still she could tell he knew where Milori was. An idea suddenly occurred to her. "Well I guess I will just go find him myself." With that she began to walk off. "If something were to happen, Milori would be furious with you. I assume that you of all people know what he is like when he's angry."
Phoebus let out a sigh, rolled his eyes, and hopped over to her. Once she was atop his back he leaped into the air. "My brother definitely chose you."
"What do you mean by chose me?".
"As in the one person he would be willing to go against everything he has ever known to protect, to love."
The thought hadn't come across her mind in a while. She never really thought of how much he loved her. He had practically given his life to rescue her. He broke the bond he had with his family for her. He was there for her last night when she was awoken by her nightmare.
"You're just like him, stubborn, persistent..." Phoebus continued and went on but she was no longer listening. She was busy with her own thoughts.
Clarion shuddered at the thought of what had happened, her nightmare. It was as if she could feel him touching her all over again. The touch of his lips to her bare arms burned her skin. Why hadn't she just run? She was too scared at the time, she froze. Tears of pain streamed down her cheeks as she just stood there.
"Your highness!", she could faintly hear someone call out.
"Your highness!".
"Queen Clarion!".
With a sudden jolt Clarion awoke lying in the cold wet snow. Phoebus was staring down at her with great concern. "Are you alright?".
Somehow she must have fallen asleep once more, reliving her nightmare over again. In the next moment she was crying into the bird's feathered chest. Without hesitation he wrapped his wings around her. She was practically his sister already to him and he would try to comfort her the best that he could do in Milori's absence. Clarion no longer wanted to find Milori, she needed to find him, and he would gladly take her. Phoebus didn't care anymore if he was going against an order. Nor did he care about how furious Milori might be with him.
Once she was aboard Phoebus once more, he leaped into the air. She cried softly into his feathers. This nightmare was probably the one thing she would never be able to forget, no matter how much she tried. This nightmare was strong enough to actually hurt her, to leave marks on her arms. For a while the bruises would be the worst reminder, but they would soon fade. After that, every moment that she would spend with Milori would remind her of it. Only then she would worry that Milori could be overpowered by his dark side. Then her nightmare would become real.
Ok I know it's been I while but I've got a big surprise for in the next hour or so.
SECRET OF THE WINGS is on right now on Disney Channel (1:00 pm Eastern Saturday Dec. 21) and is just starting. I don't know about you guys but I'm gonna go watch, while writing other fanfiction.
ATTENTION: I have been asked by many people about the new Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy trailer. Not to worry, Queen Clarion's voice actress has not been replaced. In fact at the very beginning the announcer isn't even her it's Lyria from Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure she is the story telling fairy.
