"Soo, ye give each other chocolates."
Amai tied another bow on a bag of cookies. She nodded distractedly and reached for more cookies and another bag.
"Why?"
Turning her frustrated face toward Jin, Amai scrunched her face up and replied, "I don't know! It's just a thing!"
Jin crossed his arms over his chest. He'd been watching her bake and bag cookies all afternoon.
"Calm yerself, lass. I was just askin'." Jin shook his head. "You humans have tha strangest traditions."
Amai ignored this and tried to pull a tray of cookies out of the oven without her oven mitts on.
"Motherfu-" Amai cursed in such a way that Jin raised his eyebrows. She shook her hand around in hopes that it would help the burn. She finished her long string of curses with one final "Shit!"
Jin was staring. Amai snapped at him, asking what was wrong. He jumped a little, and held up his hands in defense. Amai shoved the oven mitts on her hands and pulled out the cookies which were now just a tad too crispy. This caused a whole other string of inappropriate curses.
"Now I have to re-bag them so everyone gets only one too-toasted cookie!" she growled and pulled at her hair some.
Jin reached around her and stole one of the hot cookies from the tray. He tossed it around in his hands for a moment before biting into it. He was surprised that Amai hadn't yelled at him, and when he looked back at her he realized it was because she was leaning across the flour covered counter, her face planted directly onto it.
" 's not bad," Jin said, finishing the cookie. "Bit sweet."
Amai, still face down on the counter, flailed her arms a bit in defeat. "It's a cookie. It's supposed to be sweet. And not that crunchy, either. It's supposed to be perfect."
Jin thought of stealing another. "Perfect? Why's it got ta be perfect?"
"Because some are for you, stupid!"
He paused and watched as Amai let out another angry growl, clearly upset that she had said that.
"Yer makin' me cookies?" he responded curiously. "Why're ye doin' that?"
"Because I can't bake chocolate." Amai mumbled into counter. "And you're supposed to give chocolate to the people you like. But I can only make cookies."
"So, ye like me." Jin teased with a grin. "Thas good to know. I was worried an' all, since ye didna jus' say so."
Amai didn't look as she picked up a cookie and threw it towards him. It missed by a mile but the gesture was clear. Jin left his perch atop the opposite counter and tugged on Amai's ponytail.
"C'mon lass, yer gettin' yer hair all white, like an ol' biddy." Jin snorted. "Yer gonna look like Genkai, 'fore too long."
Turning her head, Jin saw that Amai's face was bright red beneath the flour. "You're stupid, Jin."
The ginger demon shrugged. "Ah've heard that before."
Amai mumbled something else but Jin shook his head and ignored her.
"Will ye stop bakin' things now and just tell me ye like me with yer words?" Jin sighed and gestured to the cookies. "Ah can't eat all of these anyway."
Amai smacked his chest. "You're stupid, Jin!"
He flinched dramatically, "That didna sound like 'Ah like you', at all."
Finally standing straight, Amai smacked him again. "These cookies are for my other friends too, so you are stupid. It doesn't mean I like you."
Jin gave her a knowing look, raising his eyebrow at her. "But ye do."
"I do, okay? Do you have a problem with that?" Amai shouted, clenching her fists.
Laughing, Jin tugged her ponytail again. "Naw, no problems here."
Jin leaned in and hey kissed until Amai's knitted brows loosened and her hands came to rest on his waist. When they came up for breath, Amai laughed.
"Now I have to tell you about White Day…"
I wrote this in like, ten minutes. Because I wanted to write something but I forgot it was Valentine's Day... D: So anyway, Happy Saint Valentine's Day! Remember that it's a day of love for all humans from one to the other, not just between lovers etc. Also remember: 1 Cor 13 ! Love is patient, Love is kind 3
Anyway, you're all pretty cool and you deserve much better than this crappy chapter but I hope this tides you over for a little bit. :) Ciao for now, biddies 3 PB
