I do not own Inuyasha. I only own the idea for this story.

.Kagome takes one last look at herself in the mirror and slightly adjusts her lilac negligee. "Just breathe" she mutters to herself trying to get rid of the bright red blush covering her face. She takes a deep breath and peeks out of the bathroom door. Her heart skips a beat. A pair of golden eyes meet her chocolate ones.

"You can still change your mind Kagome," Inuyasha says looking concerned. "

Oh no no no…I'm just…nervous," Kagome says with a slight smile.

"Here, how I about I turn the other way, and you just tell me when you're ready sweetheart?" he says with a soft smile.

Kagome nods trying not to make it obvious that she's staring at his torso.

'Get it together Kags' she mentally scolds herself, 'that gorgeous, muscular man is waiting on you in nothing but his boxers'

Kagome takes a deep breath and steps out of the bathroom and softly closes the door behind her. She glances at the door to her room to make sure the door is still locked.

"Kagome, are you sure you still want to do this? Your heart is pounding." Inuyasha asks worriedly.

'Damn those cute ears'

Kagome says nothing as she walks all the way to the bed and taps his bare shoulder.

"You…you can turn around now," she chokes out.

Inuyasha slowly turns around, and Kagome blushes furiously. She see his pupils dilate as he looks at her from head to toe and back again.

He clears his throat and groans, "gods Kagome, you're so beautiful."

She slowly sits beside him on her bed, and he gently runs his fingers through her hair returning to stroke her cheek with his thumb.

"You're absolutely sure?" He asks for the millionth time.

Kagome smiles and turns to kiss his palm.

"I don't think I've ever been more sure of anything in my life," Kagome whispers as she pulls him on top of her.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

"UUUUGGGGHHHHH" Kagome groans into her pillow as she literally throws her alarm clock across the room.

She sits up and feels the heat coming off of her cheeks.

'Gah, I literally just told him what I wanted so of course I would vividly dream about it'

Kagome gets up and starts the shower. She hears her door creak open.

"Kagome, sweetheart, are you okay?" her mom asks trying not to be nosey.

"I'm fine. Just nervous about all the gossip that's gonna happen today. I'm sure everyone's gonna think I'm just crazy dumping him and getting back together so fast," Kagome says rolling her eyes.

"Don't worry about other people. The only people who have a say so about your relationship are you and Inuyasha. Everyone can go fall in a ditch," Kagome's mom says with a wink.

Kagome can't help but start laughing causing her mom to start laughing too.

"Well, if high school is anything like I remember today will be slightly awkward, so while you take a shower, I'll fix something for breakfast. Omelet okay?" she asks with a smile.

Kagome's stomach growls.

"Well I guess it has spoken for me," Kagome laughs.

Kagome closes the bathroom door as her mom heads downstairs. Kagome continues getting ready for school. She dries off and goes to her closet while brushing her teeth. She grabs a pair of jeans and a lilac hoodie. Kagome blushes as the lilac color has her thinking about the dream that she was so rudely jerked out of by the alarm clock which Kagome notices is still in the floor across the room. Kagome goes back to the bathroom and finishes brushing her teeth and comes back out and change. The second Kagome has her hoodie pulled over her head, her door swings open.

Kagome turns her head slowly and narrows her gaze, "Well good morning to you too Sango."

She plops down on the bed as Kagome slips her shoes on.

"Is it a good morning?" Sango asks grumpily.

"Well what did you want me to say? Or did you want me to smack your ass like Miroku does?" Kagome jokes.

Sango's face turns red and she raises her finger to say something but stops.

"You're lucky that you're my best friend because if I didn't love you, I'd punch you right in the throat for that," Sango says menacingly.

"Well if the urge ever does arise be sure to teach me how before you end me. I'd really love to throat punch stupid bitch and psychopath if for no other reason than to never hear their voices again," Kagome says darkly as she packs her old ballet shoes and some dance clothes for work.

Sango stifles a chuckle as Kagome pulls her hair up into a ponytail and grabs her glasses.

"C'mon let's go grab an omelet," Kagome says pulling Sango downstairs.

Kagome tries to quickly eat her breakfast and as she grabs some juice from the fridge she hears her phone vibrate on the countertop.

"Hello?" Sango says trying her best to impersonate Kagome.

"Sango would you mind handing Kagome her phone back please?" Inuyasha chuckles.

Kagome grabs her phone while sticking her tongue out at Sango.

"Hello?" Kagome says while pouring her juice.

"Good morning," Inuyasha says warmly, "could I come by and drive you…and I guess Sango…to school?"

"Uh…well I have to go to work later," Kagome says.

"I can drive you to work. I'd actually love to watch you teach again," Inuyasha says.

'I can almost picture the smirk on his lips'

"Let me ask Sango," Kagome says feeling a blush creep across her cheeks.

"I don't care who drives me to school, but…I CALL SHOTGUN," Sango grins obviously pleased with herself.

Kagome can hear Inuyasha groan on the other end of the line.

"You can take the long way when you take me to work if you want to make up for lost time," Kagome whispers into the phone.

Inuyasha chuckles.

"Sounds like a plan. I'm out here waiting for you. No rush. Just come out when you're ready," he says sweetly.

"Okay. See you in a second," Kagome says and hangs up.

Sango eyes her friend curiously.

"Are you okay?" she asks.

Kagome shakes her head.

"Yeah yeah, I'm good…just…not really sure how today is gonna go is all," Kagome admits.

"Anyone says anything out of line I'll crack their skull," Sango mutters to herself.

Kagome raises an eyebrow at her friend.

"It's a little early to be so ruthless and violent this morning, isn't it?" Kagome teases.

Sango looks off to the side.

"It's…Miroku. Like at first I didn't care because ya know why should I give a shit if he likes me or not but now….I don't know. I feel like I want this to be a serious thing. Not just ass grabbing in face slapping," she sighs.

"C'mon, we'll figure something out in the car," Kagome says grabbing Sango's hand.

"But…but Yash is gonna be driving!" she yells.

"Uh, okay and?" Kagome says rolling her eyes, "Unlike Miroku, he can keep his mouth shut."

Kagome drags Sango to the car hearing her mutter under her breath about how the dog better keep his trap shut.

Inuyasha hops out from the driver's side and opens the back-passenger door for Kagome to get in.

"Good morning," he says with a smile.

"Good morning," Kagome smiles back as she slides in the back seat.

Inuyasha leans down to kiss Kagome, but stops when an angry voice is heard from the front of the vehicle.

"OH YEAH NO DON'T MIND ME I'LL JUST GET MY OWN DAMN DOOR," Sango yells while hopping in the front seat and slamming the door.

"Sorry!" Kagome whispers as Inuyasha stares at Sango and walks around to the driver's side.

"So, am I gonna have to knock Miroku around a little bit or….?" Inuyasha trailed off while talking to Sango.

"No," she says half-heartedly, "but if you could get him to let me know just what the hell we are I'd really appreciate it."

Sango stares out the window and looks like she's about to cry.

"Sango…have you even told him how you feel?" Kagome asks.

"Now why would I do that? He flirts all the time and we've kissed…" Sango trailed off.

"Because guys are idiots who need concrete statements to properly function. Miroku especially. If you genuinely want a relationship with the idiot you have to tell him that Sango," Inuyasha says waiting for her to punch them.

"Hmm…" Sango says to herself.

Inuyasha glances back at Kagome in the rearview mirror, and she simply shrugs. Sango keeps muttering to herself until Inuyasha parks his car. Kagome starts to grab her things and reaches for the door handle, but it opens before she can grasp it. Inuyasha manages to get to the door before Kagome could even think about touching the handle. Kagome smiles and starts to get out.

"Good morning lovebirds!" Miroku yells as he approaches the car.

Kagome sneakily points to where Sango is sitting and thankfully, he gets the hint. Miroku opens Sango's door and offers her his hand.

"Good morning Sango. You look quite lovely today," Miroku says as he flashes his best smile.

Sango almost returns his smile, but instead decides to shove past him without saying a word.

"Wh..What the hell did I do? I just said good morning," Miroku asks in confusion.

Kagome sighs in frustration.

'This must be how they all felt last week'

"Miroku you know how you feel right now? All lost and confused? Yeah well that's how Sango feels when she thinks about you two and your relationship," Kagome says staring at him with her hands on her hips.

In a few seconds she sees the look of realization sweep across his face.

"OOOOH! Ugh. I've got such a thick skull sometimes I swear," Miroku chuckles as he runs off after Sango.

"Yeah you can say that again," Inuyasha mutters under his breath.

Kagome laughs to herself and starts to walk towards class. She feels clawed fingers lace between hers, and she freezes.

"Oh. Is it okay if I hold your hand?" Inuyasha asks.

Kagome squeezes his hand.

"Of course," Kagome says softly and smiles at him.

As they walk towards the doors, Kagome's already aware of the stares and whispers. She feels Inuyasha squeeze her hand, and she looks up to meet his eyes.

"Everything's gonna be fine," he whispers as he kisses the top of her hand, "Their opinions don't matter anyways."

Kagome softly smiles and nods as they make their way through the front doors.

Hojo stops dead in his tracks as he approaches the school.

"what…the…FUCK!" he exclaims as he sees Inuyasha kiss Kagome's hand.

He glances around the parking lot looking for Kikyo.

"That stupid bitch can't ever do anything right" he mutters under his breath.

He heads towards the doors looking for some way to vent his frustrations.

Inuyasha and Kagome get to the stairs and start to head towards their respective classes when they hear the crack of palm meeting cheek.

"Sango! What…" Miroku's words are cut off as Sango kisses him and then walks away.

Sango grabs Kagome's arm in passing and drags her towards chemistry class.

"Sango…what the hell was that?" Kagome asks quietly hoping not to also get smacked.

Kagome looks back to see Miroku and Inuyasha talking before being dragged into the classroom by Sango.

"So…what did you do now Miroku?" Inuyasha asks.

Miroku holds up a hand, "I did nothing I swear. I told Sango how I felt and that I wanted to seriously date her and then she slapped me."

"AND then kissed you," Inuyasha interrupted.

Miroku grins sheepishly. "Yeah…she did kiss me. Right in front of everyone."

Kagome sits in her desk beside a sighing Sango.

"He…he said we should date…like real boyfriend/girlfriend couple dating. And I slapped him. Why the hell did I slap him?" Sango whines as she lays her head on her desk.

"Well…you did kiss him afterwards too," Kagome says with a shrug.

"Don't worry. Apparently, everyone's making huge mistakes today," Hojo sneers as he walks by.

Before Kagome can blink, Sango is up and has Hojo's hands pinned behind his back.

"I've had just about enough of your smart ass mouth. I'd suggest you shut it before I shut it for you," Sango says as she leans in closer, "I'm just waiting for you to give me a reason to beat you to a pulp you piece of shit. Stay away from me and my friends. Next time, I won't hesitate to send your ass to the hospital."

"I'd suggest you get off me, you stupid bitch," Hojo chuckles as he shakes his head

"Or what?" Sango asks as she tightens her grip.

Kagome jerks Sango away from him and back into her seat.

"Ow what the hell did you do that for?" Sango asks rubbing her hip that hit the side of her desk.

Kagome points at the door showing Sango how close she was to being caught by Ms. Kagura. A look of understanding washes over her face, and she shoots a thankful glance Kagome's way before nudging her arm.

"You've got an admirer in the doorway," she whispers.

Kagome looks up to see Inuyasha and smiles until Miroku jumps in front of him to wave at Sango. Kagome fights to stifle a snicker and elbows Sango.

"Looks like you do too." Sango blushes and timidly waves back as Inuyasha rolls his eyes with a smile and drags Miroku off to class.

"Now then…if everyone is ready to begin," Ms. Kagura looks over at us with a smirk, "let's start balancing some chemical equations."

Kagome feels her phone buzz in her pocket and fights the urge to pull it out and check her messages.

'Pay attention'

Kagome looks at Sango to see her still cheeks are still red. Kagome smiles and starts writing equations. She prays class won't drag.

The bell rings, and Kagome pulls out her phone while gathering her things.

Miroku: I need you to help me

Kagome tries not to laugh as she types her reply while heading towards the door with Sango

Kagome: Okay. But you sir will owe me big time.

Kagome slips her phone in her pocket and feels a hand on my shoulder. Sango and Kagome turn around ready to attack only to see Inuyasha and Miroku behind them.

"Woah. Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you," Inuyasha says as he holds up his hands

Sango and Kagome both exhale and laugh at each other. Inuyasha and Miroku both stare at them with raised eyebrows.

"Chemistry was a little tense," Kagome says trying to sound nonchalant.

"Hey wait a minute," Sango says while looking at the boys suspiciously.

"You two never walk this way," she says while planting her hands on her hips.

She doesn't notice Miroku biting his lip while looking her up and down. Inuyasha elbows Miroku in the ribs. Kagome also looks at the two of them suspiciously.

"Yeah. Inuyasha usually meets us in class. So, what kind of scheme are you planning?" Kagome says narrowing her eyes at the two.

"No planning. No plotting. I just wanted to walk you to class and someone," Inuyasha emphasizes while looking at Miroku, "decided to tag along."

Miroku blushes and rubs the back of his neck.

"Well I mean, it's on the way" Miroku says in his own defense.

Sango doesn't wait for him to finish and grabs Kagome's arm.

"Let's go Kags," she huffs as the boys trail behind them.

They walk in the door with Inuyasha and Miroku close behind. Miroku grabs Sango's wrist gently as Inuyasha and Kagome continue walking to their seats.

"Traitors," Sango mutters under her breath.

"Sango," Miroku says quietly.

Sango slowly looks up to meet his eyes.

"I…I'll see you at lunch okay?" Miroku says and gives her a small smile.

Sango nods trying not to blush and hurries to her seat.

"Ugh some people make me want to vomit," Kikyo says as she walks by Sango, Inuyasha, and Kagome.

"It must suck to feel that way every time you look in the mirror," Kagome mutters under her breath.

Sango snorts and tries not to cackle while Inuyasha chuckles.

"Crap…that was louder than I thought," Kagome mumbles to herself as she sees Kikyo glaring at her from across the room.

It's then that Kagome notices the seat next to Kikyo is empty. Kagome feels her stomach start to knot up. Inuyasha reaches and across her desk and grabs her hand.

"Something wrong?" he whispers, "I can hear your heart pounding."

Kagome shakes her head and gestures towards the empty seat.

"Looks like Sango really scared Hojo," Kagome whispers.

Before Inuyasha can say anything, Ms. Kaede enters and starts her lecture on the skeletal system. Kagome starts taking notes, but she can feel Inuyasha staring at her in concern. Halfway through class the door opens, and Hojo walks in and takes his seat. Ms. Kaede turns to him with a scowl on her face.

"Excuse me.." she starts.

"Shut up you decrepit old bitch," Hojo says matter-of-factly staring right at Ms. Kaede.

Everyone freezes, unsure of what's going to happen next. Ms. Kaede takes a deep breath before speaking.

"Out of my classroom…now," she says while pointing towards the door.

Hojo stands and chuckles darkly to himself. As he walks towards the door he turns around and stares directly at Kagome. She hears a low growl beside her and sees Inuyasha's claws digging into his desk with eyes that look almost.

'Are his eyes red?'

Kagome reaches over and grabs one of his hands and he snaps out of it. Kagome looks at his eyes again and only sees amber instead of red. He relaxes when Ms. Kaede goes and slams the door on Hojo.

The bell rings, and Kagome starts to pack her things. Kagome looks at Inuyasha from the corner of her eye.

"You know you aren't as sneaky as you think," he chuckles as he grabs her backpack.

Kagome blushes, slightly embarrassed at being caught.

"I can carry my backpack silly," she says reaching for her backpack.

"I know you can carry it," Inuyasha says as he pulls Kagome close to his side while they walk to the door, "Just because you can doesn't mean you have to."

Sango starts murmuring something about being the third wheel when Miroku pops up at the door.

"Can I walk with you to lunch Sango?" he asks with a grin.

"Yeah sure," she mumbles quietly.

Miroku reaches for Sango's hand and instinctively recoils waiting for the slap…but it never comes. Miroku looks down at their hands in disbelief that she's actually letting him hold her hand. The four make their way to the cafeteria and see Koga and Ayame waving at them from the group's usual table. Inuyasha drops his and Kagome's bags at the table and they grab a tray and head back to the table. As everyone sits down, Koga stares at Inuyasha with concern.

"You okay man?" he asks while glancing between Inuyasha and Kagome.

Inuyasha shakes his head.

"Yeah, I'm good. Class just got a little heated…" he starts.

"and you're being a little protective," Koga finishes for him.

Inuyasha glares at him, and Koga holds up his hands in defense.

"Hey man I get it. I'm not judging. Just wanted to make sure you two were okay," he says glancing at Ayame to change the subject.

"Who's not okay?" Miroku asks as he sits down.

Kagome takes a bite of her food and rolls her eyes.

"As far as I know everyone is okay…unless you've been slapped again," Kagome says with a smirk.

Miroku and Sango both blush as Koga and Ayame snicker.

"You're really asking for a throat punch," Sango says under her breath.

Kagome sees Inuyasha tense up and stare at Sango. Sango stares back.

"It's a joke. You know? Ha ha?" Sango says looking concerned.

Kagome puts her hand on Inuyasha's knee under the table and squeezes. Inuyasha relaxes and sighs.

"Sorry…what happened in class earlier just has me on edge," he says.

"What happened in class?" Koga asks with a mouthful of food.

Ayame glares at him and rolls her eyes. Koga smiles back at her sheepishly hoping she'll forgive his lack of manners.

"Oh you know ole crazy came in halfway through class and really lost what few marbles he had left," Sango replies nonchalantly.

Koga, Ayame, and Miroku look at her quizzically. She sighs and tells the whole story about Hojo and ends with the epic stare down between him and Inuyasha.

"I swear I was waiting for Inuyasha to get out of his desk and rip the kid's throat out. That weirdo just kept staring at Kagome. It was…unnerving," Sango says with a shiver.

Koga's and Inuyasha's eyes meet with Koga raising his eyebrow questioningly. Kagome coughs hoping to relieve the tension.

"So, how many people have you all heard talking about us today?" Kagome asks forcing the conversation to change.

Ayame laughs.

"Well anyone I remotely heard say anything magically didn't have anything to say when I turned to ask what they were saying," Ayame grins as she cracks her knuckles.

Kagome fights to stifle a laugh.

"You can't just threaten people into silence," Kagome says giving Ayame a serious look.

"Oh, Ayame doesn't make threats," Koga smirks, "she makes promises."

He laughs as Ayame punches his arm. Kagome looks over and sees Inuyasha hasn't eaten any of his lunch. She squeezes his knee again to get him to look at her.

"You need to eat silly," Kagome says when their eyes meet.

He smiles gently and starts to eat.

"So, I have serious question…and it's probably gonna get me punched," Miroku says suddenly.

Kagome swallows her food and mentally prepares herself.

"Well….what's the question," Kagome asks suspiciously.

Miroku looks down at the table drawing circles with his fingers.

"So are we just supposed to pretend like the breakup never happened or?" he asks.

"MIROKU!" everyone at the table screams.

Kagome sees Inuyasha tense up beside her. She looks at Miroku then everyone at the table.

"Why would you need to pretend like it didn't happen? If we aren't pretending it didn't happen then why should you?" Kagome says with a smile, "it's kind of like a chance to start over."

"That's probably a good idea," Koga says smugly, "I mean Ayame and I have technically been officially together longer than you two so I'm sure I know more about her than ol' dog boy over here does about you."

Inuyasha scoffs as he and Kagome simultaneously roll their eyes.

"Well I don't know Koga. They've already got the identical eye roll down," Sango laughs.

"Someone seems a little cocky if I do say so myself," Kagome says under her breath.

Inuyasha smirks while looking at Koga. Suddenly, Miroku claps his hands.

"So how about we just see who knows who?" he says with an evil grin.

Kagome internally face palms herself while Koga chuckles.

"You're going down dog boy," Koga says with a smirk while looking at Inuyasha.

Miroku scoots himself towards the middle of the table.

"Okay ladies and gents, let's see who actually knows their significant other," he says with a smile.

Kagome rolls her eyes as Miroku keeps trying to make some big speech about how all's fair in love and war before everyone at the table finally loses it.

"MIROKU!" they all snap.

Miroku holds up his hands in apology.

"Okay okay…hmm…first question. Birthday month? Notice I said month not day so you're welcome," Miroku says obviously pleased with himself.

"January 7th," Inuyasha says without hesitation.

Everyone at the table looks at Kagome.

"He's right, but you guys should all know that considering how it literally just happened" Kagome says taking a sip of her water.

Everyone looks over to Koga.

"That's easy is Mayyy…March," he says looking at Ayame.

She rolls her eyes. Sango laughs at Koga.

"Dude what the hell month is may-march?" she giggles.

"You know what the sad part is?" Ayame asks looking at everyone before stopping on Koga, "Neither one of those months are correct…idiot."

Koga lets out a frustrated growl and looks at his girlfriend.

"Ayame you probably don't even remember when my birthday is," Koga says frustrated.

"It's September 15…you ass," Ayame replies flatly.

Koga groans but then looks smug. "I bet Kagome doesn't know when Inuyasha's birthday…"

"August 23," Kagome says interrupting Koga.

Inuyasha takes a bite of his ramen while everyone stares at him.

"What?" he asks.

"Is she right or not?" Koga asks impatiently.

"If you were a good friend you would know that of course she is correct," Inuyasha grins smugly.

Everyone but Ayame chuckles while Koga mutters obscenities under his breath.

"Well do I dare ask another question?" Miroku muses to the group.

"Favorite color," Sango states ignoring Miroku.

"Red," Kagome says finishing her water.

"No it's not!" Koga yells.

"Actually, yes it is wolf boy," Inuyasha replies.

Before the two can argue Ayame answers.

"Brown…like the deep deep shit he's in right now," Ayame says while staring at Koga.

Koga gulps trying to decide on what his answer will be.

"Uh…green," he says. Ayame nods 'yes' and mutters under her breath.

Koga feeling smug looks at Inuyasha.

"Well, dog boy?" Koga says staring at Inuyasha.

Inuyasha takes a sip of his drink and replies, "purple."

Sango and Ayame look at each other confused. "Uh…Yash. Her favorite color is red. Parts of her room are red. She has a lot of red clothes," Sango says sounding concerned.

Kagome looks up seeing everyone staring at her.

"He's right…it actually is purple," she says.

"She's lying," Koga says unwilling to admit defeat.

"Don't call her a liar," Inuyasha says menacingly, "It's not her fault you're so stupid."

Miroku interjects to prevent a fight.

"Well since I happen to be the all-knowing judge, I do NOT believe Kagome is lying and therefore, Inuyasha and Kagome are the winners," Miroku says with a smile.

Kagome looks up to see Inuyasha looking at her. She look at him quizzically and he smiles as the bell rings.

Everyone gets up to put their trays away and head to class. Inuyasha grabs Kagome's hand and squeezes.

"I'm gonna walk you to class," he says looking around.

"Think I can't protect her?" Koga asks teasingly before he realizes Inuyasha is being quite serious.

Kagome turns to look at Inuyasha.

"Care to tell me why you're being so protective? So what if Hojo stared at me? It's not the first time," Kagome says.

Inuyasha closes his eyes and his expression seems almost pained. Kagome frowns as he sighs.

"I…I just want to keep you safe," he finally manages to get out.

Kagome smiles softly at him and stands on her toes to kiss his cheek. She squeezes his hand and then grab Koga's arm.

"Well, I guess we better get going before we're late," she says and they all walk towards Mr. Myoga's class.

Inuyasha kisses the top of her head before she walks into history.

"I'll be here to get you and take you to work," he says with a smile.

Kagome smiles before she feels her feet sliding across the floor.

"Yeah yeah. We get it. You two 'love' each other," Koga mutters gently pushing Kagome to her seat.

Kagome sits down trying not to laugh at Koga and watches Inuyasha walk out of the door way. Kagome starts to pull her notes out of her bag when she looks up to see Kikyo walking in trying to fix her hair.

Koga leans over and whispers, "wonder what poor idiot just picked up whatever form of crotch rot she's got?"

Kagome covers her mouth with her hands and snorts to keep herself from cackling. After composing herself she lightly punches Koga's arm.

"You can't say shit like that when I'm not prepared," she says still trying not to laugh.

Not soon after Kikyo sits down Hojo comes in behind her.

Kagome leans over to Koga and whispers, "well I guess we can only hope ol' crazy caught her crotch rot. His DNA is exactly what the gene pool doesn't need."

Koga is now the one trying to stifle a laugh as Mr. Myoga comes through the door. The teacher begins his routine of taking roll and class continues without any issues.

Kagome grabs her things and starts walking towards the door. Just as she's about to cross the threshold she hears a voice behind me.

"Ooo brave enough to walk the halls without our mutt bodyguard are we?" Hojo sneers with a tight grip on her arm.

As soon as Kagome jerks her arm away, she sees Hojo fly out into the hall.

'That might have been a bit much, but I can't say I really care that Koga got his ass airborne'

Kagome gasps when she sees that it's Inuyasha holding Hojo up against the wall by his throat. Kagome walks towards the two of them when Koga grabs her wrist.

"No Kagome…let me go handle it," he says seriously.

Koga approaches Inuyasha, and Kagome has to do a double take. As Inuyasha turns towards Koga, Kagome almost swears his eyes are red.

"Dude, you gotta calm down," Koga says while pulling Inuyasha's arm down.

"C'mon man reel the rage in," Koga whispers harshly, "You're losing control, and I know damn well you don't want Kagome to see you go full beast."

Inuyasha takes a breath and slowly lowers Hojo down as his grip loosens.

Inuyasha growls deeply, "I'm not gonna tell you again. Stay. Away. From. Kagome."

Hojo breaks dusts himself off and notices a gold gleam around Inuyasha's neck.

'She gave him her dad's fucking gold chain'

Hojo grins to himself before opening his mouth.

"You know, she was supposed to give that chain to me," Hojo smirks while pointing at Inuyasha's neck.

Inuyasha grabs him by the shirt.

"Oh fuck me," Koga mutters under his breath.

"I know she never had any intention of giving this to you. So how about you go crawl back between Kikyo's legs because she's the only thing that's even remotely female that pays attention to you," Inuyasha says and then throws Hojo to the floor.

Hojo keeps his mouth shut and walks away. Kagome walks up behind Inuyasha and tugs his sleeve. He turns around expecting Hojo, but his expression softens when his eyes meet Kagome's. He pulls her into a hug and sighs.

"I'm sorry sweetheart. I lost my cool there for a second."

Kagome smiles and hugs him back and grabs his hand.

"C'mon. I'm gonna be late for work if we keep standing here," Kagome says softly.

Inuyasha drives Kagome to work slowly trying to make up for the lost time from this morning. He grabs her hand and squeezes.

"So, any plans with Ayame or Sango this weekend?" he asks.

Kagome shakes her head.

"Not that I know of, but I may ask Sango if she wants to go with me and use the mani/pedi gift certificate she gave me for my birthday," Kagome says with a smile.

Inuyasha chuckles.

"Is she really struggling that hard with her feelings for Miroku?" he asks.

"Oh yeah. I think she's afraid he's incapable of being in a serious relationship," she says while pulling out her phone.

"Well…I really don't know," Inuyasha says dejectedly, "but I have never seen him try so hard for a girl before…and he's crushed on Sango for like years."

Kagome smiles and raises her eyebrow.

"Oh really? So who have you crush on for like years?" Kagome asks teasingly.

Inuyasha sits up straight and grips the steering wheel tight.

"Nobody actually," he says matter-of-factly.

Kagome immediately looks at him.

"You know I was joking right?" she asks seriously.

He sighs and smiles at her apologetically.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get irritated. Today's just been…" he trails off.

"A lot," Kagome finishes for him and turns to look out the window.

He parks the car and leans over to grab Kagome's hand and kisses it. She smiles and turns to face him.

"I hope you aren't mad at me," he says quietly.

She raises an eyebrow.

"Why would I be mad at you?" she asks.

"For losing my cool at school…almost pummeling that worm," he says.

Kagome kisses his cheek and sighs.

"The only way I'd be mad at you is if you got yourself expelled from school. Trust me if I was strong enough, I would've strangled the life out of him long ago," Kagome says and looks up to meet his gaze.

'There's that spark. Surely this can't just be high school love'

Inuyasha cups Kagome's face in his hand and smiles.

"What are you thinking about, beautiful?" he asks.

Kagome smiles and kisses his palm.

"Oh, just about how much I love you," she says.

Inuyasha smiles and slightly blushes as he leans in closer.

"I love you too," he says before kissing her.

Kagome breaks away after a few seconds, not wanting it to turn into a more heated kiss that would make her late for work. Inuyasha turns to the backseat to grab his bag and pulls out the new ballet shoes he bought Kagome for her birthday.

"You'll need these today," he says with a smile and winks.

Kagome smiles and kisses his nose.

"Thank you again for my birthday present," she says.

He smiles and opens his door to come open Kagome's.

"You're very welcome," he says as he escorts her into the dance studio.

Kagome goes into the bathroom to change and again hears the squeals of little girls.

'Must've found Inuyasha'

Kagome puts her new shoes on and walks out to see the little girls running their hands through Inuyasha's hair.

"Oh Miss Kagome if you don't want to be his girlfriend anymore will you let me?" a little girl begs.

Kagome covers her mouth to stifle her laugh as Inuyasha looks at the girl with a surprised expression. He takes the little girl's hand.

"Ah, I'm sorry my dear but my heart belongs to Miss Kagome…even if she leaves me to be alone forever, I will love her until I die," he says slumping to the floor in a dramatic fashion.

Kagome rolls her eyes laughing and pull the girls off of Inuyasha.

"Okay, okay girls time to start class. If Mr. Inuyasha is too much of a distraction then I'll have to make him leave," Kagome says seriously only to be met with a chorus of high-pitched 'NO's and WHY's'.

Inuyasha makes his way to the back class so Kagome can start teaching. As the class finally calms down enough to listen, the rest of the afternoon goes off without a hitch. Kagome looks up a few times to see Inuyasha trying to sneak some pictures of her with his phone, so she made sure to make a face to let him know that she could see what he was doing with each attempt. Towards the end of class, Kagome looks up to see him looking at his phone. He looks at her, holds up his phone, and mouths the word 'dad' before smiling and stepping out towards the front desk.

"Hello?" Inuyasha answers.

He can hear his father sigh on the other end of the line.

"Son, did you almost lose control today?" Taisho asks sternly

'Koga you freaking snitch'

Inuyasha cleared his throat and answered, "I assume you already know the answer to that question since I'm guessing Koga called and told you."

Taisho sighs and Inuyasha can almost hear the stress in his voice.

"Look son, we need to talk about this when you get home. Which will be when?" he asks.

"After I take Kagome home when she's done teaching," Inuyasha replies.

"Okay son. Please don't put yourself in any kind of dangerous situation," Taisho says, "Oh and son?"

Inuyasha rolls his eyes.

"Yes sir?" Inuyasha can hear his father chuckling.

"I'm glad you two worked things out. Bye." Inuyasha sighs and hangs up the phone.

'Great…just what the hell is this conversation gonna be about?'

As the last student leaves, Kagome waves goodbye and grabs her phone to text Sango.

Kagome: Wanna go get a mani/pedi Friday? Some awesome friend of mine gave me a gift certificate :)

As Inuyasha walks back in, Sango replies.

Sango: ugh YES. There's so much I need help figuring out :/

Kagome: Well I hope we can figure it out. Call me later if you need to

She looks up to see Inuyasha and smiles.

"Setting up your mani/pedi date with Sango?" he asks while taking her hand.

Kagome nods as they make their way to the car. After they get in the car, she can tell Inuyasha is stressed.

"Wanna come in and eat? If mom's already home she'll be cooking my make up birthday dinner. If she's not, I can always cook something," Kagome asks.

Inuyasha turns to Kagome and smiles sadly.

"As much as I genuinely want to eat dinner with you, Dad wants me to come home after making sure you're safe at home," he says.

Kagome frowns slightly and sighs.

"Oh? Can I ask why?" Kagome asks while trying not to pout.

Inuyasha grabs her hand.

"Some supposedly important conversation. Nothing serious. It's not like I won't text you and call you before bed sweetheart," he says and squeezes her hand.

Kagome feels a little more at ease and starts to get her house keys out as the car approaches her house.

Inuyasha walks Kagome to the door. After she unlocks the door, she can hear her mother in the kitchen cooking.

"Kagome dear? Is that you?" she calls.

Kagome pops her head in the door.

"Yes mom. It's me. I'll be inside in one second," she gently yells.

Her mom drops whatever cooking utensil she's holding and walks towards the open door.

"Oh no. You two have made up and you," she says pointing to Inuyasha, "are staying for dinner."

Inuyasha smiles apologetically and sighs.

"I really wish I could, but my dad wants me home for some important conversation," he replies.

Kagome's mom nods and pulls him into a hug.

"Well the invitation is still open. Anytime," she says with a wink.

Kagome rolls her eyes and shoots an apologetic look towards Inuyasha. As Kagome's mom makes her way back inside, Inuyasha pulls Kagome close and kisses her deeply. She sighs contentedly and frowns when he pulls away.

"Hey, no pouting or I'll never leave," he says kissing her forehead.

Kagome pulls her lip back in and leans in to kiss him one more time. He smiles and reluctantly pulls away.

"Text me when you and your mom are done eating. If I don't respond quickly then I'm still trapped talking to my dad," he says groaning.

Kagome nods and he starts walking away again. As Kagome turns to go inside, she's stopped by his voice.

"Hey Kagome?" he says.

She turns to face his direction.

"I love you, beautiful" he says smiling.

"I love you too, handsome" she replies and watches until he gets into his car and pulls away.

Kagome walks back inside and locks the door behind her only to be immediately crushed in a hug.

"Mom, you're gonna hurt your collarbone," Kagome says as she gasps for air.

"Oh, honey I don't care. That was the sweetest thing I've ever seen. Reminds me of your father and myself when we were dating," she says wistfully.

Kagome hugs her mom back and she lets go with a sigh.

"Enough sadness. Now. Time for your belated birthday dinner!" she smiles as they sit down to eat.

Inuyasha pulls into his driveway and parks his car. He stares at the door, but can't will himself to go inside.

'Just what the hell is this all about'

As he opens the door he's immediately wrapped in a hug.

"Oh, my baby boy is home," Izayoi smiles nearly crushing Inuyasha to death.

He manages to break free and take a few gasps of air.

"Nice…to see…you too…mom," he says between gasps.

He sees his father coming down the stairs and can't help but feel worried.

"Hello son," Taisho says making his way to the bottom step.

Inuyasha simply nods.

"Let's go to my study," Taisho says with a sigh.

As the two make their way inside his study, Inuyasha can't help but feel like he's walking to his doom.

"Sit down son," Taisho says as he closes the door.

Inuyasha sits in a chair and cringes waiting for all hell to break loose.

"So son, what happened today that brought you so close to absolute chaos?" Taisho asks.

Inuyasha sighs.

"There's this guy…lunatic actually…that won't leave Kagome alone. He had his hand on her elbow and I just got mad and grabbed him by the throat," Inuyasha groans knowing how bad it sounds.

"And this 'lunatic', is he a legitimate threat to Kagome?" Taisho asks seriously.

"I know he is," Inuyasha says.

"Why?" Taisho asks sitting in a chair next to his son.

"It…it's a long story dad. And honestly, it isn't my place to tell that story," Inuyasha says defensively.

Inuyasha's phone vibrates and his father sighs.

"Leave the phone alone son," Taisho says.

"Now, regardless of this person's history with Kagome or whatever it is, you cannot go around grabbing people by the throat. If Koga hadn't been there who knows how far you would've gone?" Taisho sighs rubbing the bridge of his nose with his thumb and index finger.

"You can't get to that point son. You'll kill someone. Either on purpose or accident," Taisho says seriously while staring at Inuyasha.

"I wouldn't hurt Kagome…or my friends," Inuyasha says softly.

Taisho sighs.

"Son, that's where you're wrong. You very well could hurt any of them when losing control. If you can't keep your beast locked up and away, you'll give me no other option."

Inuyasha starts connecting the dots in his head.

"No other option than to what, father?" Inuyasha asks through his teeth.

Taisho again rubs the bridge of his nose.

"Than to keep you and Kagome separated…for the good of both of you." Taisho threatens.

Inuyasha feels his blood run cold.

"That….that's not fair. I thought my beast was the most basic part of my demon side. The part that runs on pure instinct," Inuyasha stammers.

"And it is son, but that also means it can be unpredictable. Especially when it chooses a mate," Taisho trails off.

"If I'm gonna have the irresistible urge to mate and protect Kagome, what's gonna happen if you do keep us separated?" Inuyasha asks.

Taisho's shoulders slump as he sighs.

"It will be unbearable if she's near. That's why I'm glad you're about to graduate. I'll do whatever it takes to protect both of you," he says seriously.

"You would willingly make your son suffer?" Inuyasha asks incredulously.

"Now son," Taisho starts.

"No. No more cutting me off. Kagome is my mate. You can't take her away from me," Inuyasha says as he stands.

Taisho notices the red starting to seep into the sclera of his son's eyes.

"If you know what's good for you pup, you'll back down," Taisho says nearly growling.

Inuyasha's ears flatten against his head as his eyes go back to their usual color. He sits back down and fights the whine trying to escape his throat.

Taisho sighs and looks at his son.

"I don't want to do this to you. I know how it feels and the thought of putting you through that is almost unbearable. That's why I need you to keep this in check and explain it to Kagome," Taisho says.

Inuyasha slumps in his chair and sighs.

"You can do this son. The sooner you tell Kagome the better off you'll be. She's going to be the one person who can help you stay grounded," Taisho says moving his chair closer to his son.

"And how does she do that?" Inuyasha asks.

"Have you noticed how much you love her scent? How your heart beat slows when you hold her?" Taisho asks.

"Come to think of it," Inuyasha says.

"That's why it's so important for you to explain this to her," Taisho says, "and I swear if you tell your mother about my threat to separate you and Kagome I will end you. That's a fight I'm not in the mood to have right now.

Inuyasha nods again and heads upstairs to his room.

He pulls out his phone to check his messages.

Kagome: Hey love

He smiles to himself and types a reply.

Inuyasha: hey sweetheart. Is it okay to call you?

Before Inuyasha gets a reply, he sees his phone ringing. Kagome's name pops up along with one of the pictures he tried to sneak while she was teaching today. He answers quickly.

"Hello there beautiful," he says smiling.

He can hear Kagome giggle softly on the other line.

"Hey there handsome. So how did the talk go?" she asks.

"It went fine. Just a lot to think about and a lot to explain to you," Inuyasha sighs.

'How do I just drop all this information on her?'

He quickly changes the subject and makes himself comfortable in his bed as the two talk late into the night.
