A/N: Wow, this story took a different turn than I'd intended. Enjoy!

"Herlihy, you're asking for it." Sam was livid. Louis smirked and held his arms open. Blaine, Sebastian, and Niff looked on in worry. When he opened his eyes, Louis saw the carpeted floor. Sam stood above him, breathing hard. Louis touched his jaw, which made him cringe.

"See, I told you," he scoffed. "He is the same Sam Evans he was two and a half years ago."

"Sam didn't hit you, Louis," Jeff murmured.

"Wait, what?" Louis looked around until his eyes stopped on Blaine, who was rubbing his bruised knuckles. "B-Blaine?"

"You just couldn't let it go," he said shakily. "He's changed and you can't accept that. You're not a good person." Louis flinched at this before sinking to the floor. Sebastian hurried to his side and held him close. "Goodbye, Louis." Without another word or glance at anyone, Blaine walked downstairs and out the front door, flanked by Sam.

"Louis?" Sebastian tried to lift the brunet's chin. Louis brushed him off and scrambled back into his room, locking the door behind him.

"Blaine?" Sam looked over at his boyfriend, who was gripping the steering wheel on the drive back to McKinley. "Pull over, babe. I need to tell you something." Blaine pulled off to a small parking lot.

"What is it, Sam?" Blaine turned to him, his eyes full of tears.

"I remember everything now." Sam's eyes were full of tears. "Larson High, the day I slammed you into that locker," a tear slid down Sam's cheek, "when I beat you senseless in the locker room." Blaine's eyes widened. "But it's all in the past, Blaine. I love you and that's all that matters."

A car pulled up beside them and Nick rolled down the window. "Blaine, we know you're mad at Louis right now, but we need someone to bust the door down. The other Warblers are out and Sebastian, Jeff, and I can't do it. We think Louis is going to try and kill himself."

Blaine ran upstairs and pounded on the door of room 35. "Louis!" No answer. "Louis, for the love of God, open the fucking door!" The others stood back.

"Go away!" Louis yelled. Sebastian quivered, hearing the clear break in his voice.

"Break the door," Jeff said, holding onto Nick. Blaine started ramming his shoulder into the door, but it didn't budge.

"Let me, babe." Sam held Blaine back and kicked in the door, knocking it down.

"Holy shit," Nick muttered. The five boys ran into the room to find an empty bottle of pills lying beside Louis, who was lying on the bed, hands folded across his chest. Jeff gingerly lifted one of Louis' wrists to find a large cut across it.

"Louis?" Sebastian hurried to his side and shook him. He placed a hand on his heart. "No. Louis!"

"Are you related to Louis Wedren Herlihy?" A nurse asked Sebastian as the group sat in the waiting room at Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital.

"He's my boyfriend and these are his friends," Sebastian replied, trying to keep from crying. "Is he okay?"

"He's in a coma," Dr. Minogue said, entering the room. "I'm Dr. Andrea Minogue. I take it you are his friends."

"Sebastian is his boyfriend," Nick spoke up.

"I'm very sorry, young man." Dr. Minogue put a hand on Sebastian's shoulder. "But we don't know if he'll ever wake up."

"Can we see him?" Jeff asked. The doctor nodded and led the five boys to room 237 where Louis lie, the monitors beeping.

"Louis, baby, please wake up." Sebastian buried his face in the blankets. "How can you do this to me, Louis? Why?"

"I am so sorry, you guys," Blaine sniffled, tears streaking his face. "I never meant for Louis to try this again. I just wanted to get the point across."

"We're not mad at you, Blaine." Sebastian looked up. "He could be really overprotective when he wanted to. It's not your fault."

"Everybody keeps saying that," Blaine mused. "It's not your fault, Blaine. When Sam attacked me, it wasn't my fault. When Louis transferred, it wasn't my fault. Now this, he tries to take his own life and it's not my fault. Then whose fault is it?" Sebastian looked at Blaine and hugged him.

"It's all of our faults, Blaine," he sobbed. "We didn't listen to him, we didn't see how much pain he was in. I remember once he tried to tell me about something that was going on at home, but I was too wrapped up in Warbler crap that I ignored him. We ignored him when he needed us the most."

Sam stood silently throughout the entire exchange. He opened his mouth to speak and Blaine looked up at him. "I had a part in this too. A huge part," Sam whispered. "Back at Larson High..."

FLASHBACK

Louis walked through the front doors of Larson High School, excited for the first day of freshman year. He approached his locker and looked up, awed by its enormity.

"Hi," a voice said. Louis turned to see a tall blond boy standing in front him. "Are you Louis?"

"Yeah, are you Sam?" Sam nodded and extended a hand. Louis shook it eagerly. "Is everything supposed to seem so big?"

"Eventually, it seems smaller," Sam chuckled. "But maybe it's a height difference thing. How tall are you, Louis?"

"Five-five," Louis blushed. "What are you? Five-eleven?"

"Spot-on," Sam smiled. "What's your first class?"

"Uh," Louis pulled out his schedule, "it's Biology with Mr. Wyler."

"Same here." Sam put an arm on Louis' shoulder and the two walked to class.

Six months later, the friendship between Sam and Louis began to deteriorate. Sam was on the football team and spent most of his time with the jocks that enjoyed making Louis' life hell. One day, it all came crashing down.

"What the fuck?!" Louis opened his gym locker to find his clothes gone. He spun around to see Fletcher McDonnell and his buddies laughing at him. "What is this? A 1980s high school movie? Give me my clothes!"

"Come get them, queer," Fletcher sneered, holding up Louis' shorts. Louis took chase after the jock, who ran into the gym and through the girls playing volleyball.

"You son of a bitch!" Louis tackled Fletcher to the hardwood floor and punched him in the face. After getting a few good punches in, he was pulled off by the female gym teacher Miss Griffith and, with Fletcher, dragged down to the principal's office. Already there were Sam and a few other jocks.

"Mr. Herlihy, why are you in my office for the third time this week?" Principal Sturges sighed.

"These assholes stole my clothes!"

"Language, Mr. Herlihy," Principal Sturges warned. He turned to Fletcher, Sam, and the jocks. "Is this true?"

"Why, no, sir." Fletcher used his most charming smile. "I was brought up in a very well-adjusted home and therefore I know not to harass people."

"You're so full of shit, McDonnell! Everyone knows your mom was a porn star and you were born out of wedlock!" Fletcher started for Louis, but Miss Griffith intervened.

"Herlihy!" Louis sat back. "Evans, do you have anything to say?" Louis looked at Sam hopefully.

"We did nothing to provoke Herlihy, sir," he said. Louis opened his mouth to retort but Sturges put a hand up, silencing him.

"Louis, I'm sorry," Sam tried to apologize as they walked out the front door.

"Save ir, Sam. I don't want to hear it. All those times you said you were studying or sick or whatever, you were hanging out with those pricks," Louis snapped.

"Please, just listen to me," Sam pleaded.

"No, you listen. I'm done, Sam. I'm not going to sit idly by while you let McDonnell and those assholes treat me like shit. I deserve better than that."

"It's not my fault you have some kind of crush on me!" Sam blurted out. Louis froze just as Fletcher came up behind Sam.

"What's this? Herlihy's really a fag?" Louis made no attempt to defend himself. "Oh my God, no wonder you follow Evans around all the time. By the way, how's your three-day suspension?"

"Fuck you, McDonnell," Louis retorted, regaining his voice.

"You better watch that smart mouth, Herlihy, before you go and get it busted," Fletcher warned.

"Shove your wiseass remarks up your ass, you stupid fuck," Louis growled. "Maybe you can use your charm to get into the family business." The next thing Louis saw was the pavement; he held his bleeding nose. He looked over at Sam, who made no move to stop Fletcher. "You're a coward, Sam." Louis stood up and wiped his nose before walking back to his car.

END FLASHBACK

"I'm so sorry, Louis." Sam knelt beside the bed. "I never meant to out you like that. I only wish you could hear me."

"Don't leave me this way

I can't survive, without your love

Without your love, oh baby

Don't leave me this way, now

I can't exist, I will surely miss

Your tender kiss, don't leave me this way,"

Sebastian sang softly. "Don't leave me, Louis, please."

"Visiting hours are over." A nurse entered the room. "I'm sorry, boys, but you have to leave."
