Flight of the Snowy Owl - Thank you x :)
And to all of the lovely reviews, thank you. Reading them has made me write this so yay!
This is not a good hiding place. I had found a space to crawl into between the top of the place and some strange round objects that hung from the top. Trying to pull myself out, I froze as I heard yowls from down the corridor. I pushed myself back in, trying to make my wings disappear. I yowled quietly in frustration. Why won't they fold in? I asked myself, frantically trying to find a hold on the round things. Finally, something happened, maybe I changed angle, I don't know, but they folded in by my sides just in time.
The things kept on yowling and they walked under me. I froze, how could they not see me? I peeped out from around the round thing to look at them and what they were doing. Ten! I opened my mouth and smelt the air again. That was definitely Ten. Where is he? My eyes wandered to the things just as they were turning the corner and I caught sight of Ten's cage. I purred quietly before hurrying along the round thing behind them. They turned a lot and it was hard to keep up, being squished up between the top and the round thing. Occasionally they stopped and yowled for a while, but most of the time they were silent making me cautious of my breath. I found I had sometimes forgotten to breathe, I was so tense.
Eventually we reached a side you can through and they went in it. I waited impatiently for them, swished my tail side to side in boredom. My wings began to ache from being tense so much and I began to feel sharp pain in the middle of my left wing. I brushed it off as the things came through the side without Ten's cage. I silently screamed with joy. This was the place where they kept all the cats! I began to pull myself out, hoping it was easier than going in. It was thankfully and I purred with joy. I was so busy celebrating I hadn't realised the side was swinging shut. When I realised, I flew towards it as quickly as I could but my left wing was hurting so much it was slower than usual. I reached the side just in time and flew in the gap that was left. "Hello?" I mewed quietly, waiting for my eyes to adjust to the darkness. I held my breath in the silence. Am I in the wrong place? "Hello?" I repeated, louder. My eyes began to make out the faint outline of the bars.
"Cherrypaw?" A mew broke the silence tentatively. I looked around for the speaker.
"It's me," I replied in the general direction.
"Are you out? Of your cage?" Another mew, which I recognised to be one of the leaders.
"Yes."
"Quick then, let us out!" Blossompaw mewed, her amber eyes now visible.
"I'll try, but I don't know how."
"I do." The hoarse croak told me Ten was speaking. I whipped around to face his cage.
"Why haven't you done anything before?" Crowstar asked and was echoed by the others.
"I've never been outside. But, 12, the thing is," I heard him sigh deeply in the silence that was left. "I don't want to leave." I heard the others gasp in shock but I just stood there, and looked into the darkness. I saw his eyes, and immediately I understood.
"Okay. But 10, I want to and so you need to tell me how to help the others." I saw his eyes move up and down as he nodded.
"Practice on mine, and then I can help you get the others out. First, take your paw. Then, you place it underneath this lump," I saw a tail gesture to a lump. "And pull up. After that, you place it on the side and push towards the light." I followed his instructions carefully but it took me many tries to get it right. The bars swung open and I purred. 10 cautiously stepped out but I couldn't see him, even though there was a little light. Together, we began to open all the bars of the cats, most important first. When we had opened all of them, I melted into the crowd of cats and let the leaders take charge. They swiftly made all of us leave the room to begin to escape. I looked back, wishing I could have said goodbye to Ten. But I was hurried along. To escape. Again
A/N: I am so sorry it took so long, but there it is! Short, but the next one should be longer :)
