Chapter 8

Firepaw walked into the forest, mind blazing. Why were my claws on fire? Is this starclan's fault? I don't know... I'm lost.. She stopped when she ran into a rock. I am so clums- She looked up at the shining rock above her. What is this? She touched it with her paw. She moved her paw away from it fast. It is ice cold, but it's greenleaf.. She paced around it, staring at it like she might for a cobra. She touched her nose to it, but nothing happened. She licked it, same result. What do I do? She leaped up and landed on the top. She succumbed to sleep.

She woke up in a strange place, with towering rocks and caves. "Welcome." A voice mewed. She looked at it, bewildered. A tiny tabby tom was in front of her, licking his paw. "Where am I?" Firepaw hissed. The tabby looked at her and flicked his tail for her to follow. He ran off with extreme speed. Firepaw followed him through the barren, cliffy landscape. He kept going after Firepaw began to become tired. "Are you from Windclan?" She huffed, she stopped and waited for her breath to come back. The small tom had waited. He flicked his tail. "We must keep moving." he ran off with Firepaw at his tail.

After about a day of non-stop running, they came to a gigantic rock, that was at least 20 fox-lengths tall, and 40 across. "Holy Starclan.." Firepaw breathed as her eyes scanned over the boulder. The tabby crossed the clearing, and jumped onto the top like it was a log. "Firepaw, come." He mewed, his voice too low for his size. Firepaw hesitated. She gulped and padded forward. She bunched up her muscles and leapt forward, flying through the air and landed softly on the rock's smooth surface. She opened her eyes to see cats all around her, not starry, but just dim. They all dipped their heads to the small tom. He nodded in return. "Firepaw.." He turned around to face her. "You are destined for far more than a prophecy and Starclan." He mewed. Firepaw's ears pricked at the sound of yowling. The small tom narrowed his eyes. "Follow me." He bolted off towards the sound. Firepaw leaped off and saw the dim cats, on the rock, waiting and mewing good luck. Firepaw ran off, following the tabby tail in front of her.
