Red's House – 7:10AM
Red woke to the annoying ring-tone of his old Poke Gear in his mother's bedroom. Since his was so dusty and he didn't bother vacuuming it he decided to sleep in his dead mothers bedroom since it was pretty much in usable shape. He reached out and lazily grabbed it from the top of the draw bedside the bed next to a lamp. He clicked the green button to engage to call.
"Yeah?" he answered with a lazy mumble.
"Hey Red, this is Copycat. How are you doing?"
"Crap," he answered simply now resorting to his normal state as a silent, man of a few words sort of person.
"I'm at the hospital with Sue, the doctor says she's fine and she's ready to be picked up," Copycat said try her hardest to not burst out with sheer happiness and laughter. Red heard it in her sweet child-like voice, everything is fine. For once after what felt like decades a genuine smile spread across Red's face ear to ear. In such a happy mood he flipped over his covers and jumped out of bed. He then got himself dressed in his usual Pokemon Training clothes. The last time he gotten dressed so quickly was when he went off to get his first Pokemon. Oh boy how that seemed just like yesterday.
After that he shoved his Poke Gear in his right pocket and his Poke Dex in his left. Next was his belt of six Pokemon and then he was done in just about a minute and a half. Red ditched with any of the morning clean routine stuff such as face, teeth and shower and even breakfast. Running down the stairs skipping every second step and nearly tripping on the last and burst right out of the house and released his Charizard. Trainer and Pokemon flew off towards Saffron Hospital forgetting the door was still unlocked. But this is Pallet Town and nobody here has the audacity to break into somebody else's house anyway.
Saffron Hospital – 7:21AM
Sue was all better surprisingly and it was a shock from all the doctors as well. The operation to keep her alive and everything went so well they all felt proud of it and went as far as telling the others. Sue on the other felt almost one hundred percent. She sat cuddling with her Ditto in her lap. It was the only Pokemon she had that pretty much felt more than just a companion or travelling partner. This can be said for her other Pokemon as well but Ditto was special because she never used it battle – only rarely – and because of this she never really had encourage for anything and put it into hard and difficult situations. There never really was anything relationship development needed then was there?
But there was because it was the she'd let follow around and had a lot fun picking random things anywhere and it was even able to find some TMs that were incredibly useful to her back then. Although she didn't quite know when Ditto got them from or possibly whom it served her well for a while until she lost the final battle against her brother for Champion. Ditto was no use then but it gave her the comfort she needed.
The door burst open to reveal her boyfriend panting and breathing heavily. Sue smiled hat he took the effort to come here in such a rush. "I didn't know you like that much," Sue commented shooting one of her cute smiles again that could easily match the cuteness of Yellow.
"Hey of this was three years ago, I still do the same," Red said back in defence from embarrassment. He walked towards the bed she lay on gave her hug. Shocked to see the former Pokemon Master claimed by Yellow/Amy to have a heart of dark gold show such affection towards here. "I guess he really does love me, for sure," A hug was obviously rare coming from Red but is there ever was one you'd know he's doing because he genuine. She hugged back with her soothing, soft hands wrapping around the back of his neck. She then ran her fingers through his thick black hair and pulling on him tighter. "You're really tense Red, try to calm down," She reassured him.
"I can't Sue," he said pulling away from her body. "I feel broken for some reason. I don't feel normal anymore," Red took a chair and slumped onto it as if he collapsed. He sighed heavily took his red cap off then running his hand through his hair to tidy it up just a bit. "Things just aren't the same anymore," he said coldly.
"Maybe we're growing up too fast or we just missed out on spending time together because you left. But Red, we're still young you know, and we can always go out and do it all again but somewhere else,"
Red understood what she meant. To go to another region and have another Pokemon adventure. Collect more badges and defeat other trainers. It seemed like a good idea to be honest. Maybe later he thought. That could be a possibility. Maybe they can invite Amy to come along too and also Gary/Blue. But this has to wait, because who knows if Sue's in the right shape to travel and go out. Sure she looks fine now but how fragile is she?
And then Sue's Poke Gear began to ring. Sue's Ditto did the nice thing and picked it up for her and handed it to its trainer. Sue gave it a thanks and patted its 'head'. She flipped it open with one hand and gave it a sweet hello. "Oh hey Gary, what's up?" Red looked up at Sue after hearing 'Gary'. His good friend was incredibly upset after breaking the bad news to him. Gary's sister Daisy broke out into tears. Never had he had to do something so difficult. Telling another other people that one of their family members is in a critical condition and that their life is hanging on a thread.
Red listened to Sue's end of the conversation because he couldn't hear Gary's obviously. "What! Who were they?" she cried. "Oh…um…I guess," she said dumbly. Then there was shouting coming from Gary's end but Red couldn't understand. "Hey, don't shout at me! I'm in distress here, I made a mistake! We can reverse this, don't worry," Then there was a pause. "Once I get out of here I'll go there and sort this out," Sue flipped her phone closed and sighed.
"What was that about," Red asked.
"Well, you know when I came out the Gym late last night?"
"Yeah," Red answered.
"I made a call to the people at Cinnabar Mental Hospital to take her,"
"Amy?" Red asked.
Sue nodded in shame. "I just couldn't take her anymore. I know we were best friends and all but she started to act so weird and so I called them up to take,"
"You went as far as calling the Mental Hospital to take away your best friend?"
"I regret it now through. I guess there are a lot of things I regret to be honest,"
"So you think Amy is actually crazy? You she doesn't like that word right?"
"I know that. Before I thought her special powers were awesome and with her help back then it made life a lot easier but now it seems to be getting in the way of her life. She's predicting stupid things with her psychic abilities and…" Sue then trailed off and fell silent for a while. "I don't what I'm doing Red. I think I'm broken too," She covered her face with her hands.
Red then tried to make one attempt to cheer her up with an old story. "Hey," he called to her in a whisper while rubbing the side of her arm. Sue dropped her arms and stared into his dark, red eyes. "Remember back when we were still collecting the gym badges in the day? And while on our way to Cinnabar Island Blue's Gyarados tried to drown him?"
"Oh yeah," Sue responded with a smile remembering the times especially that. She could never stop herself laughing that day. Blue being the usual cock-face managed to piss of his own Pokemon. Sue spent most of the day (while laughing) asking herself, "How does one manage to annoy Pokemon to that point it tries to drown them? Not literally of course but just Gyarados just did it to teach him a lesson. Oh how they laughed for hours. "That was so funny," Sue said grinning, replaying the moment in her head. "And remember the time where he got scared by Ditto at the Pokemon Tower?" Sue asked.
"That was hilarious," Red commented. "He was all, "I'm not scared of anything" and then gets scared by a Pokemon disguised as a ghost,"
"Yeah, well I guess it was disguised as a ghost,"
"Sometimes I wish I could go back there," Red said.
"Yeah, collecting the badges was probably the best part for me,"
They were interrupted by the door. As it opened it revealed and young male Pokemon trainer with a slightly emo fringe covering his left eye. He also wore a cap backwards with a design to look like an Ultra Ball. Sue immediately recognised the boy and so did Red but his presence filled the air a bit of uneasiness for him. Last time he saw this boy he went as far as pushing him down a rocky hill after a defeat that costed him his title a champion. He thought killing the boy would hide it but now standing before him was a representation that the boy is fine.
"Hey Ethan, what are you doing here?" Sue asked happy to see her new friend again.
Ethan caught sight of Red a recoiled. He grew less confident and in a way scared. "Um…I'll come back another time," he said and turning away quickly.
"Hold on, wait!" Sue called stopping him at the door. "You don't have to go, you can stay,"
Ethan turned back to Sue. "I'm…probably intruding,"
"No you're not," Red watched Sue converse with Ethan. There was this flare in her eyes when she talked to him. It was the exact same look she would always have whenever she spoke with him three years ago. She also had a much sweeter voice as well.
"I just came…to…err check if you were alright," Ethan said unconfidently rubbing the side of his arm and having trouble with eye contact.
"Aww that's sweet of you," Sue said. "I'm fine thanks,"
Ethan took a wick glace at Red and immediately looked away after having catching sight of his dark, red eyes. They still had that unforgettable atmosphere when he first encountered Red back on Mount Silver. It was nerve racking. "I should go now," he finally said.
"Ethan," Sue called out again. "Red has something to say too," Sue glared at Red. He knew what she was talking about. Oh why does she have to put me in a spot like this? Red thought. He sighed loudly and reluctantly got up off his chair.
"I'm sorry for what I did over there," Red apologised to Ethan. Even the young trainer was shocked to find that he was doing this. "I guess I overreacted a bit,"
Ethan smiled. "It's cool," he said regained his confidence and composure.
"I don't have the prize money for you win unfortunately,"
"Oh don't worry about that," Ethan reassured him. "Being Pokemon Master is a big enough win for me," Ethan continued smiling. He looked up to Red ever since he watched him battle Blue in T.V. when he was small boy. His dream of meeting Red properly and normally has finally came true.
"Enjoy yourself," Red finished and then offered a hand to Ethan. He took and shook it without hesitation. "Congrats,"
