Okay guys, this chapter is fairly intense. Trigger warning once again, and I apologize for not putting a trigger warning on this earlier, I simply didn't really think about it.

She didn't move when the she heard the front door open. Instead she held her place, sitting on the bathroom floor with blood smeared across the white tiles and stained tissues littered the floor. Her head lulled forward as her back was braced against the bathtub. She was so tired. So very tired and she really had no idea why. With careful fingers she traced over the long red lines now cut into her hips and upper thighs. How long she had been sitting on the bathroom floor was lost on her but the wounds were beginning to be crusty with dried blood.

Somewhere she registered the steps that were running through the hallway.

"Riley?"

Sharon was home. That made her at least feel a little better. Her face was tingling as she fell back and her feet slid on the bathroom floor.

"Riley?" Sharon called again, this time she was closer.

For a moment Riley considered calling back the strength even for the thought was gone before she could grasp it. Her half-lidded eyes drooped closed as her head lulled to the side. The pressure of her face making contact with the tile floor seemed odd but not painful as she listened to the bathroom door handle shake.

"Riley!" Sharon cried, throwing her palm against the wooden frame. "Open the door!"

Part of her was sure she would have opened the door if she had the strength. Her legs stretched to the sides as the cold tile comforted her. The sound of something breaking barely registered over the force of the door shaking and Sharon yelling.

"Riley!" Her heart was screaming in her ears as she slammed her hand against the door. Then again, her head had been racing since the moment Nicole barged into the murder room. At first Sharon didn't even notice her, but the young woman went straight to her not even hesitating when she seemed to be occupied with arguing with Chief Taylor.

"Sharon, I need to speak with you."

If it wasn't Nicole's presence that had her father on high alert, it was definitely the tone that had every person in the room taking a step back. Taylor however looked less than pleased. His eyes flashed at Nicole before he looked back at Sharon to continue.

"Keeping this from the press is something you're holding on to. I say hold a press conference-"

Nicole grabbed Sharon's arm. "It's an emergency." She took a step closer to the woman, the fierce outer layer Nicole was so accustom to having slipped as she pleaded with her eyes for Sharon to listen. "It's Riley."

Sharon turned back to Chief Taylor. "I'm sorry, but it seems that I have a family emergency. Lieutenant Provenza?"

The older man was already on his feet, moving in on them. "Go, I'll handle this, Captain."

Sharon flashed him a thankful smile as she directed Nicole into her office. She heard her senior Lieutenant say something to Andy to keep him from following but she really didn't have a chance to hear it clearly.

"Get your purse," Nicole instructed immediately, already grabbing Sharon's blazer from the back of her chair. "We need to get to get to Riley."

Sharon's heart missed a beat at the way Nicole was already pushing to get out the door. "What's going on?" she managed to asked as she pulled her bag out of the bottom drawer of her desk.

The adrenaline must have been wearing off because Nicole was slowing down. Her dark brown eyes looked more scared than determined now Sharon felt her own confidence falter. "I tried calling you. Emily and I both did. I even tried Dad but he only answered long enough to say he'd call me back."

For a moment Nicole's head dropped as she searched for words. "Riley said something to me and Emily during our Skype call."

Sharon nodded. "She told me."

Nicole looked up at her. "She told you?"

"That she quit her job, and today was her last day." The way Nicole seemed to process that information had Sharon second guessing herself. "That was pretty big new to me. Did you already know that?"

The woman shook her head. "She didn't tell me that, but it kind of makes sense now. I think that maybe part of it too…"

Sharon took a seat on the corner of her desk. "Nicole, what's going on?"

Once again the woman's head dropped and she drug her bottom lip between her teeth. Whatever it was she did not want to say it. A heavy breath deflated the woman as she spoke. "She said she had sex, but it doesn't sound like that's what happened exactly."

Nicole's head came back up and Sharon felt her own hands tighten around the leather strap of her purse. She swallowed past the thick knot in her throat.

"What does sound like happened?" Sharon asked carefully.

A breath fell out of Nicole's mouth as she looked like the words were hard for her. If they were hard for her to say no wonder it was so hard for Riley. "She told Emily and me she was drunk. He wasn't."

In an instant, Sharon was gone. She was already out her office door before Nicole could catch up as she was nearly running to the elevator. Her finger was already pressing the button over and over again when Andy caught up to her.

His hand captured her wrist and she immediately turned around into him, her face pressed into his chest as her head rested on his collar bone. At first Andy was going to demand to know what was going on but as Sharon tossed her own rule of physical affection in the workplace out the window he knew she was crumbling. His arms wrapped around her tightly trying his best to hold her together. For the moment his need to comfort the woman he loved was much more important than knowing what was upsetting her.

"Come to my place when you can," she told him, leaning back to look him in the eye. Those beautiful green orbs were bloodshot with impending tears.

It was more than just her needing him, Riley would need him there too. No matter what, they needed Andy home that night. As the elevator opened, Andy dared to press a quick kiss to her lips. "I'll be there," he promised as she stepped away from him.

The entire drive she struggled to stay relatively within the speed limit. It only occurred to her when she was nearly home that she was also supposed to pick up Phantom from Robbery Homicide, but Andy could do that. Hopefully he remembered.

The front door was unlocked, but Riley wasn't in the living room. Sharon dropped her purse by the door and called out for her daughter but received no answer. She kicked off her shoes and tried to remain somewhat level headed as she raced to the hallway, checking in Riley's bedroom next. It wasn't until she found herself staring into the empty bedroom that she realized the bathroom door was closed.

She ran to it. Slamming her hand against the side of the door. "Riley?" Sharon called again. The moment she heard something shatter and thud against the tile, Sharon shook the door again. "Riley! Open the door!"

But there was no answer. Sharon stepped back and reached up to the top of the door frame where she kept the bathroom key. Her shaky hands clumsily knock it to the ground and she inwardly cursed. Snatching it back up, she shoved it into the door and fumbled with the handle.

Time seemed to freeze as she opened the door. Blood was speared on the tile floor with the glass soap dispenser shattered by the door. Riley was curled on her side, blood seeping from the self-induced slices on her legs. Her face was pale, but her lips still had color. She looked as though she was sleeping.

"Riley," Sharon choked out, stepping over the broken glass to kneel beside her daughter. Riley's head barely turned to her as she eyes cracked open. Tears were already rolling down Sharon's cheeks as she sat Riley up and cradled her in her arms. She was doing her best to control her tears as she held her baby close and looked at the markings on her daughter's body. There were scars, fresh cuts, old cuts, and healing wounds. Her daughter had been doing this for a while.

"Honey," Sharon whispered, squeezing her eyes closed as tears dropped off her chin and into Riley's hair. "I'm here now. I'm here."

But Riley knew that bad things didn't stop happening just because someone wanted them to.

It took a couple tries, but after sweeping up the glass Sharon eventually was able to clean Riley's wounds and bandage them before walking her daughter into her bedroom and tucking her in. She could barely keep her eyes open through the entire thing, her head constantly falling to the side and her body jolting back up. The decision on whether or not to tuck her into the master bedroom was only decided when it was easier to walk her directly across the hallway in Riley's own bed.

For a while Sharon sat with her. Her hand running through the blonde curls, her stomach twisting as she picked speck of dried blood out of it. This was different than anything Sharon had ever felt before. It wasn't just that someone else had hurt her kid, it was that her child was hurting so badly that she was now harming herself.

As she slept, Sharon took a moment to look over the rest of Riley's body. There were very faded scars on the insides of Riley's arms that she had never really noticed, or maybe she had but since they were so old she never thought to bring them up. The worst cuts were right on her hip bones. Long and deep. They were still wanting to bleed even with the time that had gone by.

After being sure that Riley was not going to wake up anytime soon, Sharon went back to the bathroom and surveyed the scene again. The first thing she looked for was the blade which she located fairly quickly. It had slid behind the toilet, whether that be on accident or an attempt to desperately hide it Sharon wasn't sure. She knew which one she wanted to believe.

The bottle of bleach under the sink was going to be enough to clean the bathroom, but Sharon wished she could clean the image from her mind. She dumped some of the bleach into a bucket of warm water before she grabbed cleaning gloves too. The smell was barely noticed as she flipped on the bathroom fan to vent the fumes.

Cleaning her child's blood off the bathroom floor. It didn't seem real. Rusty and Riley had both gone through a lot. They were strong kids though. They were tough and always pushing forward. Part of Sharon was afraid to learn what made this time different. Was Riley just tired of the fighting to go forward? Was this a cry for help or was Riley really going to clean up this mess before Sharon got home and keep going like nothing happened?

She probably wouldn't have been home for a couple of hours. It was possible that Riley would have been able to take care of all this before she got home. If she dared thought about it, Riley had probably done it before.

The sound of Riley's cellphone buzzing in the next room had Sharon taking a moment to escape from the bathroom.

Twenty-two missed calls. Four from Nicole, six from Emily, five from Ricky, three from Andy, one from Rusty and two from Sharon. Six voicemails and nine texts. The texts were mostly from Nicole and Emily asking Riley to answer the phone and to call them back. There was also one from Rusty asking her why Emily called him asking where Riley was.

She placed the phone on the kitchen counter as she ran her hands over her face. Things had never felt this broken. Typically all the cracks and bumps hitting her family had come from outside sources. Technically this was still an outside force, but it was like Riley didn't want this fight so much she would rather bury inside than face it. Their family stone had been cracked from the inside and Sharon wasn't sure what to do.

That was probably what was scaring her most. Sharon Raydor didn't have a plan.

Taking a breath, she moved back into the bathroom and slipped on the gloves. She grabbed the sponge and dipped it in the liquid. On her hands and knees she tried to destroy the scene she had walked in on.

Two hours later Andy walked through the door to find Sharon sitting on the balcony with a cup of tea in hand. He stepped out, only closing the screen behind him just as she had it.

All she had managed was to text Emily, Nicole, and Andy that Riley was safe now and Sharon would be staying home with her. Their questions would be answered later when everyone was in a better state.

"I walked in and I called for her and called for her," Sharon whispered as she felt Andy step in behind her. Her heart was already in pieces, she was already broken. His arms around her and his body pressed against her back kept the rest of her together. "She didn't speak and I don't think she could."

Her teeth clamped down on the inside of her cheek as she tried to fight the need to cry again. She was done with crying. This wasn't about her. This was about Riley.

"I opened the door and for a second I was sure she was dead. There was blood on the floor and all over her clothes, even in her hair and she was just lying there on the floor."

Andy's arms tightened on her as he wished he could get the new image out of his head. Sharon had actually seen it and he couldn't even bare the description. "She did say anything. Her eyes just barely followed me and I just held her. I was afraid to let her go for so long. I still feel like I'm trying to catch her but she's like water in my hands."

Sharon sunk out of his grip as she walked toward the balcony railing, her fingers clutching it until her knuckles turned white. "I think we should take her to the hospital, but I'm not her mother yet and she'll be put on a seventy-two hour hold. She would get counselling and help, but I think she would hate me for it. Pulling her out of her first safe environment and throwing her into a place where she will have no sense of security and…" And no Sharon to reassure her. She shook her head. "I want her to talk to me. I want her to tell me what's wrong. This is Riley we're talking about!"

She spun around and looked at Andy. The level of sadness etched into his face made Sharon remember that she wasn't the only one who loved Riley so deeply. Riley's connection with Andy was maybe the only one that rivaled her own.

"Nicole thinks she was raped."

Sharon's head snapped up. She hadn't realized Nicole had shared that with him too. How Provenza managed to keep the man in the office even after being told that was a true testament. "It sounds like date rape to me," Sharon confirmed. "At least what Nicole had told me. I need Riley to talk to me, Andy."

Andy nodded. "Let her sleep for now. I'll make some tea, we'll talk to the kids, and maybe Rusty will be able to tell us if Riley had ever done anything like this before."

Thank God someone in their home was able to think logically because Sharon had barely been able to function well enough to clean the bathroom and really didn't have the energy to do anything more.

Something told Sharon that Riley would not be in the mood to talk though. Somehow Sharon knew that this moment would not bring Riley closer to opening up, but maybe closer to shutting down.

Please review. Also, I am really curious as to what you all think Sharon should do.
