Mini realized early on that his new family was far from ordinary. He did not have the picture perfect family unit. He did not have the large house and a picket white fence surrounding it. He did not have a dog that came at every beck and call and his life was nowhere peaceful.

His house was located in a strange world run by two giant hands. It was a mansion with many rooms and secret locations he did not think he would ever be able to fully uncover. However, should he ever tire of the overly extravagant manor, he had two other places to call home. One was a little hut located in the Kokiri forest where all his friends patiently waited for his return. The other was Link's tree house like home in Ordan village. There he had much more room to play in, and Link even let him help out on the ranch during calm days. Mini was working on getting a fourth house, and if he could just get Siegfried to give him a room at Margaret's house he'd be set for life.

His mothers ranged from Athenian holy warriors to female alchemists to Princesses from the Mushroom Kingdom. They all, however, managed to come together when he was being punished or forced to eat healthy foods.

His fathers were men with a variety of ethnicities. Italian, French, and Japanese just to name a few. Again, they all knew when to unite in response to one of his pranks, or when they felt he was slacking off and needed to train a little harder.

His big brothers were all Swordsmen and weapons masters. They all knew the tricks of the trade when it came to their blades, or any other kind of weapon they carried, and lucky enough for Mini they were all decent teachers. They could also never resist his puppy dog eyes, except for Link, so he pretty much got what he wanted when he asked it of them.

His big sisters were about as tough and scary as his brothers were. They too knew the ins and outs of any battle format. They were always sure to remind him of this when they gently knocked some sense into him any time they felt he was being ridiculous about any given subject. They also knew how to force him into clothes that he would rather burn than let touch his skin.

All of his 'cousins' were children that would likely give any child therapist a heart attack. In fact he was sure that if any kind of social service individuals were to interview them, the adults would end up being the ones sent to intensive therapy. After that they would then seek a different source of employment far away from children.

Add to that the fact that his dog was not a dog at all, was instead a horse and a number of small Pokémon, and Mini was pretty sure his family was about the oddest and most dysfunctional that anyone had anyone had ever seen. They could probably set records with what they did in their everyday lives. They were most certainly not normal. Normal people thought they were crazy.

And that was precisely the way he liked it.

Link bore the symbol of his country with pride. Though it may not have been all too great to him recently, a good number of its citizens were honorable, honest people who put their life on the line for the place they called home. The very essence of that common nobility was seen in every etching of the triforce no matter where it presented itself. Even the hero's final smash attack made great use of the triangle formation, and it was seen on many of the Hylian's favorite possessions. It was a part of him. It was a piece of him that lived outside basic human understanding, and dwelled within the caverns of faith and trust.

Siegfried was intrigued by it. Just like the boy who wore it, its meaning and life was a complex puzzle when viewed through the eyes of an outsider. Its existence was not built on saint like qualities, things like mercy or purity as one would expect. Rather, its very essence was in most ways dependent on human characteristics. Courage, power, wisdom, all things human bound, all things humanly attainable. And it seemed to Siegfried that whichever piece was chosen first determined what kind of path in life a human take.

Zelda chose Wisdom first. It gave her the power to rule over her kingdom without fear of rebellion, which in turn gave her the courage to govern her people without feeling as though they would despise her. However, her selection meant that she was never brave enough to begin any endeavor on her known. She could not start anything, be it a movement, a journey, or a relationship by herself. Not at least until she knew every stone that would be unturned. It was a feat no one was ever able to complete with absolute certainty. So more often than not she had to wait for something to begin before she could be bothered to include herself into matters.

Ganondorf began with power, lending him the courage to take over what he most desired in a blaze of unmatched authority, ending finally with the wisdom of those victories he had forced out of the cold and dead bodies in his wake. This particular turn of events did not help the wizard learn from his mistakes at all. If the knowledge associated with strength is not noticed until the power has diminished, then the only thing a person learns is that there is a need for more. Then the power becomes akin to an addiction. Wisdom is replaced with a deceiving kind of superiority complex, and the absolute belief that one cannot be wrong, and courage is destroyed by sheer arrogance. From then on, the one who made the choice for power destroys themselves until there is nothing left.

Link was the only triforce holder whose outcome really seemed favorable to the knight. Link began with courage, a presence of being stemming from his own heart with no outside interference. That bravery brought upon wisdom once every task was completed, letting him learn what to and not to do in any given situation. That knowledge gave him power, and with the courage and knowledge to keep it in check, it did not overpower him. Form there, the world was his to command.

That must have been what allowed Link to survive all these lifetimes without losing himself, and why he was the only one who could defy destiny with nothing but his own will at his disposal.

Fang: Getting technical?

Mistress: Maybe. I certainly want to explore the triforce and the deeper meanings behind it in much more detail someday. It is a very important part of the Zelda games, and I've always been interested in it and the ones who carry pieces of it.
