Chapter 10:

Harry met Draco in front of Kingsley's office; he pulled his hair over his scar, a subconscious habit that he tended to do whenever he felt seen, not just looked at. Draco's stood there with a sided smile; "I always thought green was more your color Potter" indicating his robes.

"Well, black is certainly yours" replied Harry coolly then opened the door with anger in his steps.

Draco followed with an unnamed feeling across his chest. It was like a bubble that he feared to pop.

They were playing their game again, they were verbally lashing. Draco felt like laughing, it was so easy to get Potter worked up.

Kingsley was signing papers; his office was in one word, grand. Portraits of previous ministers had to compete for a place on the wall with the majestic colorful African masks that he collected through the years.

The coat hanger was a statue of an elephant with his nose in the air, the chairs hands looked more like a lion sharp paws.

He looked up once they came in and gestured to the chairs in front of his mahogany desk.

Harry almost flopped into his like a child forced into timeout, while Draco took his in a full Malfoy manner.

Kingsley gave Harry a knowing look, then thought it was safer to address Malfoy, so he said; "we do appreciate all of your keen observation that we feel like we need to take this to the next level, In order to solve this case faster.

The Prophet isn't being kind to us, and if we didn't soon provide them with the truth, they will start creating some".

At this he stopped and sighed, Draco felt like he should fill the silence; "I'm more than willing Minister, I owe you so much…" Draco cut himself short and averted his eyes to Harry, then kept quite.

Harry felt that he was missing something but decided to ignore it and asked Kingsley with a sigh; "so what should we do?"

" I need you both to leave all the other cases to your respective partners and team up for this case, Malfoy you can start by understanding more about the spells and who created them, Harry could take them for you, with an Auror training, the effect wouldn't be too strong".

Harry felt like he was on a boat that was flipped by the giant squid.

Draco looked as frighten as Harry felt; "but minister, we can't experiment on Harry, what if something went wrong?" harry was looking at him in shock, not because he was also against experimenting on himself, but because Draco have called him by his first name.

Draco tried to ignore the rush of pink to his cheeks as he slipped the name and kept his eyes firmly on the minister.

Kingsley, ignorant of the exchange between the two kept going; "It'll only be C level spells, our team split them into levels, death spells are of course, level A and wouldn't be considered in this experiment".

Then a purple mask with green stripes said in a low deep voice; "Everyone is ready for you in room 401 Minister".

Both Harry and Draco stood up ready to leave. Draco kept piercing harry with his gaze but the latter didn't acknowledge him.

They were heading to the elevator when Draco said in a strained tone; "you should've said no" Harry for the sake of the people around them, said nothing.

Once they were in the elevator, and the lady's calm voice announced that they were "going down" Draco turned fully to Harry in frustration, then said; "what are you a genie peg?"

Harry looked at him in astonishment; "it might have not occurred to your numbskull Malfoy, but I'm an Auror. This is practically in my job description".

"Oh, you and your hero complex! Won't you just stop already, nobody expects anything of you any more, you saved the wizarding world, thank you! Now lead a normal life, would you?" Draco retaliated.

Uh-oh, emerald green…

"Everybody expect something from me. I can't lead a damn normal life, this is as normal as it gets. And I didn't save the world in case you haven't noticed it's still broken! Too many people lost their loved ones in the war, nothing is as it used to be, and you dare to call that a hero complex?"

Draco took a step back, and the seconds felt so long as they both involved in a staring contest, until the elevator's ding was almost too loud for both of them.

Harry was the first to walk away.

A/N: wow, I didn't expect it would stretch over 10 chapters!
