Writer's block... sorry. By the way, I was really disappointed with the lack of responses for the contest on the previous chapter. Well, here's your long-awaited new chapter. Probably the longest written. In this chapter you'll read a lot about Missariene's daily life and about her past. Enjoy and read on.
Chapter 10: A Birthday Special
August 18, 2018-
I woke up to see early signs of the sunrise, rolling over, I checked the clock and saw it tick five o'clock. Right on time. I got up and grabbed my sportswear from my suitcase, which lay in the corner where a pile of books crowded along with other items. Getting ready, I took my iPod and put the music on shuffle, the Apple product I have is a few years old so I bought it cheaper than other products. Inserting my earplugs in, I started to listen to the music. "Active morning" was playing in my ears, how ironic. As quietly as I could, I crept down the stairs and exited the house. The Weasley's home was located in an isolated vast land of prairies. While listening to occasionally changing music, I did my daily workout that consisted of: 30 min running, 30 min of yoga, 15 min of flexibility exercises, 45 min of martial arts/kick boxing/target practice each, and 15 min of strength exercises and dancing each. It was nine o'clock and I was sweating. I'll take a shower. I entered back into the house and silently went back to my room, which luckily had an attached washroom. I took a quick shower and changed into a pair of blue baggy jeans, a green tank top, and a red zip-up hoodie. The house was silent, was no one awake? I stayed in my room and started to read another book. After five books, I took Angelic and talked to her.
"Good morning."
"Same t' you Missariene. Where did you go so early in the morning?"
"Can I do some magic?"
"Don't see why not."
I gripped on the wand. "Imperturbatus." The Imperturbable Charm causes an area to be soundproof. Now no one can hear us.
"Is there somethin' you wanna tell me?"
"Please don't tell anyone about this or what happened, okay?"
"Sure, but why?"
"Because I don't want anyone to know, and I did the charm so that no one can hear what we say or do."
"And your reason for doin' that is?"
I smiled. "I want to try some spells."
"Alright, your lead."
I flicked the wand and it turned into the majestic scythe again. "Let's begin." I pointed the scythe at a book. "Wingardium Leviosa." The book started to float, I carefully lifted my scythe up slowly, and the book was now in mid-air, floating.
"Good job!" exclaimed Angelic.
After that, we practiced and did many spells that were or surpassed the Grade 1 Standard Book of Spells. I realized it was ten thirty. I put Angelic down, "That's enough for today, do you want to go say hi to everyone?"
"Yeah."
I flicked the scythe and Angelic returned back into a wand. Noises were coming from throughout the house. The house has eleven bedrooms, eight floors and an attic. All of which seemed placed crookedly when you look from the outside, so I'm surprised it's still standing. Everyone has a room. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley use the master bedroom, Rose, Me, Fern, Ginny, Ronnie, and Gobby all have our own, while Hugo and Herald, Lily and Mionly, Carie and Jo-Anne, Jeremy and Andrew all share a bedroom each. It's an amazing place. I was on the second floor. Climbing down the stairs, I noticed that Ginny and Mrs. Weasley were cooking in the kitchen.
"Good morning."
"Good morning." They replied. Ginny then went to wake everyone else up. "Missariene, where were you this morning?" asked Mrs. Weasley.
"Um, I went… for... a walk." Mrs. Weasley looked at me and then smiled.
"Alright then, I won't force you to tell me but it would be better if you could tell me before you leave again."
"I will, I promise." I smiled in relief, happy that she didn't press on the issue much further. Soon enough, everyone filed into the kitchen.
"Breakfast is ready. Children, you can choose to eat in the living room or here, since there is not much room." Explained Mrs. Weasley.
"I want to sit with Gobby!" Stated Jo-Anne, and then sat in the chair next to Gobby. The remaining eleven kids decided to give the adults space and moved to the living room. While eating breakfast, we chatted.
Should I tell them now? I probably should, better sooner than later. "Um… so… about yesterday…" Everyone went silent, Oh no! "You guys are probably curious, so I'll tell you everything… um, it all started when I was four…"
I remember very clearly what happened, when I was young, I started talking to my aunt, Aaroline. She was a voice that talked to me everyday and made my life hell. Everyday, she'd tell me about my parents' death and how I was the reason of them being dead. I'd cry everyday as she cursed my existence and I did the same. On my birthdays, she would take over me, control me, until I wake up and see the damage caused. Children hurt, bleeding, wrecked property, and the blame on me. Sara would take me to counseling but no matter what, I never said anything, which eventually drove all the councilors mad. On my ninth birthday, I got mad. I got mad at Aaroline and confronted her, pressurized her to telling me the truth, until she told me it was her fault. Aaroline caused my dad to die, and murdered my mom after I was born. Somehow she died too but she saved herself by putting her own spirit inside my body, hence she and I can communicate. Ever since then, Aaroline was silent until yesterday.
"I always knew my family was different, though I never guessed my family was filled with wizards. I guess that explains my aunt's existence." I said. Everyone was staring at me and when I looked at them, there eyes averted. "Is there something wrong?"
"I believe both parties had something they don't want to talk about, so lets forget as if none of this happened but before that, why did you tell us this? I would guess it's personal for you." Asked Fern.
"I was never able to tell anyone about this because I knew they wouldn't understand. I told you guys because I know I could trust you and because you guys are not muggles, you would be able to understand."
"But how could you trust us? You only met us yesterday." Stated Fern.
"I can tell you guys are obviously good people, and if I want to be friends with you guys, I have to be able to trust you." Everyone exchanged glances, and then Fern got up and hugged me.
"I don't know about you guys but I think I misjudged Missariene a little and now I so want to be the friend of a kick-ass girl." Fern grabbed my face in her hands and said, "I have forgotten yesterday already, all I know now is that you are a living, breathing fighting machine with an 1000 GB memory that is awesome." I smiled.
Jeremy got up and grabbed my hand with a gentle smile. Carie also got up and hugged me. Soon enough, everyone was standing, some suffocating me in a bear hug; others just supported me with smile, and some just stood. But I knew, today I officially had 12 friends. Everyone agreed to forget yesterday and we played another round of Fortunest.
-The Kitchen-
"Would you stop crying Ron?"
"I'm not crying! You're the one that's crying."
"At least I am willing to admit I have tears in my eyes—"
"Children. Can be very loud."
~Silence~
"Agreed."
Later, Mrs. Weasley announced that everyone was going shopping for my birthday presents. I tried to refuse but she shut my mouth, literally, by using the Silencing Charm. When we returned, everyone handed me presents and started to sing the birthday song. Garriss, or grandpa, joined us later on. While eating cake, I opened the presents one by one.
Presents: a locket with mom and dad's pictures in it, it also has a star shaped bell that tinkles when shaken- Garriss
A flying broom- Mr. Weasley and Ginny
A complete makeover w/clothes hand made- Fern
Nightvision binoculars- Ronnie, Herald, and Hugo
A camera enchanted by a motion pictures potion- Rose, Lily, Mionly
A cute stack of parchment and envelopes for writing letters- Jeremy, Carie, Jo-Anne
A book about Hogwarts- Mrs. Weasley
It was the first time I saw a picture of my mom and dad. They looked perfect together; mom was beautiful while dad was really handsome. Dad's eyes were emerald green and mom's were ocean blue. Both were dressed formally, mom had a blush on her cheeks and smiled kindly, dad smiled in a mischievous and goofy way. They linked arms and then kissed. It looked so real and both of them seemed really happy. I thanked Grandpa and gave him an awkward hug, though it was worth it. Later on, Andrew handed me a bag and walked off. Inside was a pair of headbands and a card. On the card read: "That long hair of yours must bother you sometimes, thought this might help." I smiled. Thanks. Mrs. Weasley then came from the kitchen to the living room.
"Missariene, there's a package for you, this owl delivered it." She said, carrying the owl on one arm and the package in her other hand. I took the package and took off the wrapping. Inside was a whistle.
"Can I see?" asked Mr. Weasley, I gave it to him and he inspected it carefully. "It's a whistle that can call and train animals. Once you blow through it, it sends a frequency that only your pet can here and by doing this, you can summon your pet from anywhere and train them. It's very useful, though this one seems handcrafted. Better take good care of it." He handed the whistle to me.
"Is there a letter from the sender?" I asked Mrs. Weasley.
"No, only what you have."
I looked at the whistle and hesitantly blew through it. Crack. Little more cracks. Everyone was searching the source of the noise. Then a small, white snout popped out from the kitchen. Highness. Everyone fond over it, I just stared at its majestic features. The dragon was pearl white, and had multicolored eyes. I looked at my whistle again and wondered if it was the reason Highness hatched. I took a piece of paper and wrote on it and then put in between the owl's talons. I grabbed the owl gently, opened a window and let the owl fly away. Thank you, whoever you are.
August 19~31, 2018-
The past one and a half weeks have been great. I finished reading the books in my room, the rest of the books in my locker; I'll read at school. I've learned a lot of spells, charms, and potions but I know there's countless more I haven't learned or mastered yet. Angelic, Highness, and me have bonded deeply, I somewhat feel like a younger sister to Angelic and a mother to Highness. Weird… When I needed to send Highness to Hogwarts beforehand today, things… didn't turn out well, but eventually Highness was sent to Hogwarts. After the birthday makeover Fern gave me, everyone was convinced Fern was a genius, and so forth, she went through my wardrobe and made outfits using my clothes. Now, I must wear only the coordinated outfits Fern organized for me. I was also able to de-gnome the garden with everyone, one of my best days ever. I am anxious for tomorrow; I will officially leave for Hogwarts. Wish me luck, till tomorrow then….
