(Sorry I haven't updated for a while. I'll try for less of a period of time between updates, righty? :D)
Eren woke up in the house of Levi for the second time in his existance, feeling refreshed, as well as relaxed. Though, he noticed that instead of waking up at the butt-crack of dawn on the couch, the sun shone through a window of a bedroom.
A bedroom.
He was in a bed.
(And a very comfortable one at that.)
He groggily brought a hand up to his face to run it through his hair, stopping for a moment to let out a sleepy sigh and bringing it down to pinch the bridge of his nose. It was bright, to the point he decided to crawl under the sheets.
But these weren't his sheets, he knew that much, so where was the owner?
He rolled over, looking to the other side of the bed, which was vacant and seemingly lonely.
Since Levi was probably somewhere else in the house (he wouldn't trust Eren alone, that's for sure), he decided to lay there, sprawled out on the bed and try to recall what happened last night. He remembered everything that happened in the previous day, with his dad an what not, but he was pretty sure that he also woke up in the middle of the night.
Most likely nightmares, they weren't something he hasn't had before.
That's all he really cared to remember, too lazy to finish thinking about it. Not that it mattered, though.
He probably just fell back asleep.
Yet he couldn't help but hope that he didn't wake Levi. The brunette would feel pretty bad about that.
Eren threw his legs over the side of the bed, trying to straighten up a bit, before standing up. Then he sat back down, due to the sudden dizziness from the blood rushing to his head.
He stood up again, just as Levi came in.
They shared a moment of silence, staring at eachother blankly, before Levi spoke up.
"I was about to wake you up, but it appears you've already done that on your own. How do you feel?" He crossed his arms midway, but the look in his eyes showed that he was truly worried.
"Did I wake you up last night?" Eren's words came out a little more slurred and husky than he was hoping, and he thought he saw Levi shiver for a second. 'No, I've probably got sleep in my eyes.' He reassured to himself as he brought his hands back up to his face to rub his tired turquoise eyes.
"Yes, but I'm more worried about how you're holding up. First your dad, and then you have a nightmare. I don't think that would add up to anything good, neither mentally nor physically."
"I s'pose..." He yawned, blinking away the excess sleep and now forming tears.
"I washed your clothes while you were asleep. After what happened, I'm not gonna let you go home for a bit, alright? And... hey, what happened to your cuts and bruises?" Levi's voice held suspicion, but also held onto the usual tone of apathy.
Eren jumped and searched all over himself frantically, now wide awake. A few words were whispered, inaudible, but shaky and fearful.
"What was that?" Levi stepped closer, and Eren freaked out.
"I don't know where they went! Oh my God, they were just there yesterday! I even... I can't... Levi, what's happened to me!?" He cried out, tangling his hands in his hair and gripping it in desperation, as if this would help him get out of the mess he was currently in.
"Eren, calm down for a second! Put on your clothes, I'll make you some hot chocolate, or coffee if you want, and we'll talk this out. I think I might have an idea of what's going on. Just do this one thing for me, okay?" At that, Eren nodded, and Levi nodded slightly back before exiting the room.
After the younger was done putting on his clothing, he went downstairs, finding Levi at the table, sipping coffee of his own.
"I made you hot chocolate, I hope you don't mind." He stated, pushing a mug over to Eren.
"You've made it for me before, and I've never minded before." Eren replied, shrugging before blowing on the warm chocolate liquid.
"I didn't know if you would like to drink that during breakfast." Levi shrugged as well, before continuing. "Anyway, you know how you told me your father injected you with something when you were little, that helped you speed up the process of healing? He must of done that again. If he gets a hold of you again and does the same thing, you could probably cut yourself and heal in a matter of minutes."
Eren was silent for a moment, face blank. "Oh my God..." He whispered.
Levi shook his head. "This should be illegal. This is probably illegal. If it's not illegal, it should be illegal." He mumbled, thin brows furrowing together.
"Does this mean I'm some sort of test subject?!" Eren cried out suddenly, but Levi didn't even flinch.
"Honestly, Eren, I wish I could tell you you aren't, but at this point, I don't even know."
The room ceased to reflect any voices that were let out, because the two didn't speak.
"Funny." Eren stated, and Levi raised an eyebrow at this.
"Funny. Funny? What's funny?" Levi questioned, and Eren gave a small, nervous and terrified smile.
"I'm being chased down by my psychopath dad to be his test subject, and I haven't known you for even half a month, but you're the only person I can trust with this, and yet you're completely calm and collected, almost as if none of this scares you."
Levi didn't respond to this.
Because he couldn't just tell Eren that he was down-right terrified.
