Chapter 10

Emerald eyes stare in disbelief, anger but the emotion that is consuming them is terror. Pure and untainted terror. Why Marcus' eyes is conveying these conflicting emotions is very simple; he found out who Raven's father is. He finally understood every single hint -and he can only berate himself for his stupidity- and every single warning.
Oh gods the warnings.
He was definitely underestimating her and her father.

Fear clutches it's death grip around his heart, squeezing it until Marcus is gasping desperately for breath. He laughs uncontrollably as tears stream from his eyes, he is so screwed but he needs the information and his need for the information only just outweighs his fear. He is completely and utterly screwed especially if the rumours about Red Haired Shanks and his crew are true. If he will really go to extreme lengths for his nakama and their family, and if Raven's father is really as overly protective as people say.

The laughter and tears continue as does the hunger for the information stays, but this time the need is weaving in and out.

Is it really worth it? That one question twists and whirls rapidly around his mind, like a raging storm. He's terrified but he can't just give up on it, not after everything. Not after everything he done to her and everything that will be done to him, tenfold. He is screwed if he gives up and screwed if he continues. A strangled sound emerges from the depths of his throat, his only choice is to continue as it is the only choice that will benefit him.

He will be mentally unstable and physically destroyed -worst case scenario, dead- in either way, it's unavoidable, but with the choice of following his hunger for the information something will come to benefit him. He is going to die but god damn he refuses to go down without accomplishing his dream. Blinking his eyes and when he opens them a look of steel resolve is there but lingering in his emerald eyes is still that fear. Though, no matter how much Marcus can try it won't disappear and he can live with that permanently as long as he accomplishes his dream.

"He hasn't come for a few days"

Raven opens her left and only seeing eye to look at Ace across the cell from her own. She cocks her head slightly to the side as she takes in appearance, it's been weeks since she's hasn't been able to see him and only a few days since she can see again but it's the first she really looked at him. He looks bad, not to say he's ugly (in fact Raven likes his looks) but in the look in his eyes and the state he is in. He looks so tired and over life, his bare body is covered in gashes and bruises, each gash covered in dry blood.

Allowing herself to rest back against the hard and cold wall behind her, not bothering to wince as the gravel digs into her open wounds.

"He's either planning something or he found out who my father is and is scared" a scoff easily comes out of her mouth, "If it is the second he is more of a coward than I give him credit for"

A comfortable silence bubbles easily over the cells at her words but amongst the silence each prisoner's brain is churning and each's thinking process is different but it all ends at the same point. Aysu's mind is calm like the ocean but it can unexpectedly turn wild. Waves thrashing around like the gears in her mind but she comes to the simple point that, she wants to know who Raven's father is. Crocodile's mind is simply covered in ticking clocks, each clock moving at a different speed and each clock depicting a thought. The tall grandfather clock is the only one ticking at a abnormal speed as it is the only thought that continues over and over, who is her father? Jinbei's mind is a ocean, similar to Aysu's except his is covered in a countless number of pebbles. Each pebble depicting a thought shielding his path to calmness and the largest pebble is the thought that irritates him, who is Raven's father? Terry's mind is more orderly and structured, shelves of book cover his mind and only one lies opened on a small oak table in the centre with only the words, who is the lasses father? And lastly Ace's mind. His mind is the most chaotic and unorganised, piles of string lie tangled across his mind and only one pile is caught on fire. This pile depicts the thought that attacks him continuously and that is, who is Raven's father?

Now Raven's mind obviously isn't plagued by that thought as she knows exactly who her father is but the thought that does scribble itself in crimson ink on the large paper in her is: How did he find out if he knows and what will he do with this newfound knowledge? As much as Raven would like to know the answers she has other things to worry like setting her plan in motion before her deadline which is coming up rapidly. Tomorrow and she still hasn't found a solution to escaping from her sea-stone cuffs, the most essential part to her plan. Once she escapes from them she is home free and as well as the ones who want to escape, which is pretty much everyone apart from Ace. She does not get him at all, he is a puzzle that Raven just can't seem to unscramble. He is confusing to her and Raven loathes confusion which is why she wants to piece his puzzle together.

Pushing aside her confusion for the moment she focuses on how she will escape from her sea-stone cuffs. She knows that Strawhat Luffy is here but it has been weeks since he has arrived and Raven has lost all hope in him and the help he could've provided her. She had originally planned to make contact with him through the hardly used surveillance den-den mushi on the wall beside the entrance/exit and how she would've used it was simple she would have made a commotion. She knows the den den mushi is connected to numerous visual den den mushis inside the prison and that wherever he is there will be one nearby and through that he would've known exactly where to come. After that she hoped he would realise that she needed to find the key to unlock the cuffs but unfortunately there has been no sound of him. Nothing from the wardens that always talk as they go past, it's like he has disappeared off the earth.

She needs her devil's fruit to be able to escape. Her fruit is a zoan type but is very different from the usual zoan type, her one allows her to turn into a mythological creature not a mythological human nor a animal but more in between. Her fruit is called shi shi no mi, in other words it literally means death death fruit. She doesn't like her ability nor does she dislike it, she likes certain aspects and dislikes certain aspects. She likes the weapons and abilities she gets but dislikes the appearance that also comes with it, the transformation. She hates transforming into her creature, it scares her and if it scares her she can only imagine how it terrifies everyone else. It was hard learning how to control her newfound ability at the start as she had no idea what a Devil's Fruit was, all she knew was that it was pitch black smoky fruit and looked like it would taste good.

It didn't.

It tasted like charcoal and burnt toast, a horrible blend but that is exactly what it tasted like. It was gross and things only got worse for the 13 year old Raven as she found out she couldn't swim anymore, she would only sink to the bottom. She found out after reading her father' old journals that she ate a Devil's Fruit and after a bit more research she found out what fruit she ate, shi shi no mi. Despite the dark, and seemingly powerful, sounding name it isn't as strong or invincible as one would think. There are many side affects and rules for her particular fruit, the obvious side affect of only sinking in water and as well as that she can only use the full extent of her ability when she around death, dead bodies or people about to die etc. The 'rule' or side affect that she hates the most though is that to use even a fraction of her ability a part of her body must be skeletal, meaning that she has unleash a tiny bit of her ability to any part of her body. A part of her body has to be completely bone when she uses it. Despite the bad things she likes her ability, it gives her a strength she never would have dreamed of having and she has to admit certain parts of her ability is cool.

She loves the shadow like transparency that follows after she transforms, how the shadows around her slowly gravitate to her and dance around her, and of course she loves the black diamond scythe. She hates how in her full transformation she is a Skelton and the only clothing she has is the shadow like material covering her bone body, but the upside is that she gains skeletal wings and can fly. When she ate the fruit she never imagined eating it would give her the ability to turn into a Grim Reaper or a Shinigami as it is called in some cultures.

Perched upon the crow nest of the Red Force is a certain father with a rifle in his right hand and a photo of Draka D Marcus in his left. He twirls the rifle around his forefinger as he looks almost uninterestedly at the photo of the blond duke but the subtle murderous look in his eyes is a dead give away that he does care about what he is looking at, just not in a kind way. Without any warning whatsoever he shoots a hole through Marcus' forehead and lights a cigarette from the minuscule flame from the paper that goes away as easily as it came. He puts the cigarette in his mouth and slings his rifle carelessly over his shoulder as he gets up.

Draka D Marcus is a dead fucking man.

Whoop! Another chapter done! It finally reveals what Raven's ability is and I tried really hard to think of one that would suit her, but also to not make it that overpowering and I debated between this one or another where she would be literally made up of evil little crows/ravens. The second one sounded weird and the one I decided on sounded like it would be overpowering so I gave it a lot of rules for use, that sounded very weird. Anyway hope you enjoyed this and check out my other story I recently published, it's a Katekyo Hitman Reborn story this time.
