(A/N) Please let me know if there is a term in the story that is not usually seen in US high schools. Since I am Canadian there are a few words, such as parkade vs. parking lot, which will be different between the countries. There may also be some facts that I have incorrect so don't be afraid to tell me since the quicker I know, the faster I can correct them. I did some quick research but there were still things I couldn't find. On a side note, Tony became more important than I intended him to be so he is 15. If you feel like reviewing, please review. I've been working on my bad habits around reviewing too.

"Reyna, this way!" Tony called waving her over as soon as she stepped out of the classroom.

She headed over to where he, Callen and Jerome were standing.

"There's a lunch hall on the third, seventh, and fourth floors." Tony informed her, "There's a cafeteria on the main floor and the fifth floor also serves lunch because that's where the cooking classes are."

"Lunch halls serve food too but they are pre-packaged lunch boxes with those sandwiches you can get from a convenience store." Jerome told her, "If you want to pick what comes with your meal or eat anything hot then you have to go to the caf."

"Which is where we're going." Tony told her, "We normally eat on the fifth and you can eat with us anytime you want. Did you go to a public school back in San Fran?"

"I was home schooled." Reyna lied.

"Really?" asked Tony curiously, "Did you follow the curriculum?"

"No." Reyna answered truthfully.

"That's cool." Callen sighed, "Me and Lib were home schooled too but only until seventh grade. Our parents made us follow the curriculum."

"That's better." Reyna told him, "You don't have to catch up if you are already doing what the other students have been doing."

"Are you having trouble with the curriculum?" asked Tony.

Jerome elbowed his friend and said, "It's only the first day. Just give it time. It's probably because you came at the end of the first week. We're finishing up review in History so it's everything from the past two years jammed into a week."

"If you have to review do it at your own pace." Tony suggested, "I never do anything on time if it's not going towards my final mark."

"That's why you're constantly in detention." Jerome teased then asked, "Do you have any lunch money?"

"Yes." Reyna replied.

Needing money for lunch, always carrying a backpack, writing down everything someone said, it all seemed so foreign to her. She was out of her depth and that made her feel out of sorts.

As they sat at Tony's table, which was also occupied by students in their final year, Callen began to complain.

"I can't believe that we have to go to school in the summer." he whined, "It's so nice out but we're still stuck inside."

"I know." Tony agreed, "It's absolutely unfair. It's the only way to punish us now that corporal's been outlawed and they're milking it for all they've got."

"It means you'll be in and out faster." put in an upper year.

"What?" demanded Tony in mock outrage, "Out of the safe confines of high school and thrust into the brutal adult world to work all day and have no fun. How is that better? How is that fair?"

Some of the girls at the end of the table giggled and one said, "You're so melodramatic Tony. You should have taken drama. We could use you in Hamlet this year."

"Hamlet?" Tony said faking horror, "Why would I want to be Hamlet? It's a role that's been done a million times already. I don't want to define myself in some overplayed…play. If I do act in something, and that will only be if I feel like it, then I want it to be something original. Hey, maybe I'll even write it. Then I can give myself the perfect part."

"I would pay to see that." one of the boys said.

"You really should have joined drama." the girl repeated blowing him a kiss.

Tony caught it, tucked it in his pocket and replied, "Then I would have to give up engineering, robotics or programming, and I love those all too much to do that."

"See, this kid is going somewhere." a boy in a varsity jacket stated with a snort.

"So are you Mr. Football Star." the girl sitting beside him reminded everyone and the table laughed.

"Anyway, summer school being mandatory is unfair." Callen sighed getting back to the point.

Tony had a way of sidetracking conversations.

"Private schools are like that." Jerome reminded him, "My parents told me there was a waiting list when I was born to get into the private school I went to before this one."

"That's exclusive." Tony stated with a whistle, "But I'd much rather go public than year round."

Reyna let them talk and just focused on her food while she tried to remember everything she had heard about demi-gods and school. Nothing she could remember was good. Percy talked about a cannon and a school bus; Nico recalled a drafty building that seemed like something more out of a horror story. Leo had said that you were forced to go strange places. Piper told stories filled with racist remarks. Annabeth refused to talk about her school days; Hazel mentioned something about washing mouths out with soap and Frank shrugged but said school was okay. An overarching theme also happened to be monster attacks. Reyna had remembered those stories the most. She knew that she had to be careful in public but schools were more dangerous than most other public places. Reyna remembered that was the last times she had a conversation with all of the seven and Nico. It was most likely too much to hope that anything had changed in that time; both with schools and the fact that she felt like an outsider around them. At least Nico and Leo were doing this awkward guys bonding thing but there were no other single girls in the group.

Lunch ended while Reyna was mulling over her memories. Suddenly she realized the cafeteria was almost empty and then a girl with curly brown hair came jogging up.

"Are you Reyna?" she asked then seeing the cautious look she added, "I'm Hallie. Libby's friend. I have Government and English with you."

"I am." Reyna replied.

"Great." Hallie said, "Are you ready to go?"

"Yes." Reyna replied looking around for her tray but it was gone.

"Jerome dumped it along with his." Hallie told her with a slight blush, "That was sweet of him."

"I guess." Reyna replied with a shrug.

She didn't know. In the Legion there was no room for weakness. You carried your own things unless you were sick or wounded and if that was the case you wouldn't be doing much of anything. She had never ever had anyone carry any of her things for her. She simply didn't understand the gesture. She found it archaic and foreign.

"Okay, I think it was sweet." Hallie amended, "Come on."

They made it to the end of the cafeteria when Hallie paused and looked at Reyna slightly guiltily.

"Would you mind making a stop by the washroom before we head to Government?" she asked.

"I have no problem with it." Reyna replied.

In reality, she had to us it too. An important thing that no one had remembered to show her were the bathrooms and she hadn't had a chance to utilize one since she had gotten off the bus. It wasn't normally something she concerned herself with since being Praetor had meant only three breaks in her day for the meals. She was also used to suppressing her urges for the common good.

"I promise I'll be quick." Hallie told her as they ducked into the girl's washroom, "We won't be late."
