Hello everyone! I'm back from what seems like the constant hiatus that me updating this story is, and I am quite sorry about that. I just run in to a nasty case of writer's block. But one thing I must say is that this chapter is the half way point of the story. Now with the newfound popularity I might end up extending it, but I just wanted to get that out there. I will update y'all in the future about my decision. Anyways, may I present to you, Peeta x Finnick; Panem High Chapter 10!

Silence.

This is all I hear.

Darkness.

That is all I see.

That is when suddenly,

"Peeta! Peeta! Can you hear me?!"

Her voice cuts through my mind like a sharp crack of lightning. This is shortly followed by hard compressions on to my chest, one after another. Suddenly, I jump up and cough out what feels like a whole lung full of water.

"Thank God!"

I hear Katniss yell as she runs and tackles, me so we're both laying on top of each other. She then whispers into my ear,

"We all thought that we'd lost you. Promise that you'll never do that to be again, asshole."

She gives me a weak smile as I respond,

"I promise."

She then wraps her arms around me and gives me a quick hug. I then see Finnick who walks over and extends one of his hands to help me get up. Shit! What if he still is possessed?! I swat his hand away and immediately jump up, then start to sprint away. But after just a few seconds of sprinting, I run straight into a person.

Ooof!

"No! No! Get the fuck off of me!"

"Hey! Calm the hell down! Finnick is fine! That thing left him right after you smacked him with that whiskey bottle."

I think to myself, 'Oh. I forgot about that..' I glance over to Finnick who waves at me and gives me a half smile. I notice the bandages over his head. I then whisper,

"Oh shit."

"Yeah, you really did a number on him."

"How bad was it?"

"Want me to be honest?"

"Of course."

"It was pretty nasty, thank god Katniss was trained by her mom to do this shit, otherwise, we'd be in some deep shit. But it did get the job done."

I sigh and rest my head on his chest. Gale then places both of his hands on my hips, and then pulls my hips closer to his. I think to myself, 'This can only end not well." I nervously laugh as a pull away and say,

"Um… Don't we have a forest to get the fuck out of?"

Katniss responds,

"Oh! Yeah, let's just hop into the car in drive off in the car that's parked at the bottom of the lake?"

I roll my eyes as Finnick responds,

"I don't think that he appreciates the sass, Katniss. Now how about we think about some legit ideas that can actually serve some use to this group."

Katniss then shoots one of her famous glares at Finnick as Gale walks forwards and says,

"Well, I think I see a tunnel over there so we might be able to- hey! What the fuck?"

We all took towards Gale's direction to see the source of distress; we then quickly notice why. Gale, while he was walking over to where Finnick and Katniss were, stepped in a shallow puddle of a thick, glowing, green liquid that has the same color of Finnick's eyes while he was possessed by that spirit.

"Shit! And these were new boots!"

I then say,

"Umm… Gale, I would be more concerned about what I stepped in, not the condition of my new leather combat boots."

Then Katniss says,

"But that stain will be a bitch to get out."

Followed by Finnick,

"I agree. And they were really nice!"

Then Gale,

"I know right? I got them from the Shops at the Lakefront. We should all go sometime!"

*sigh*

I sometimes get really concerned about this group.

As the rest of the group continued their coordinating about their future mall trip, I start to hear a faint hissing sound as a cold breeze rustles the leaves on the trees. A shiver runs up my spine as I look around to find the source of this really eerie sound. This really can't end well. I start to walk around the nearby grounds, straying further and further away from the group. I think to myself as I continue walking, 'Peeta! You've watched enough horror movies to know that the first person to die is the person who goes and investigates!' However, I press on, going against everything that my subconscious is saying for me not to do.

A thick, heavy fog as lowed upon the lake and most of the surrounding area, making it more difficult to see further away. The lake itself has taken on a dark greenish-black coloration, with most parts being covered by moss. Every once in a while I can almost swear that I can see a moving figure in my peripheral vision, but this illusive figure always darts away every time that I try to get a good look a it. Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me; hopefully. I continue walking, searching around for the origin of that hissing noise that comes and goes every couple of minutes. After a while, the hissing sounds become more and more frequent, the same with the puddles of the mysterious green fluid. Also, the size and depth of these puddles increase in tandem with everything, some could even should be considered a small pond!

But, one thing that stuck out, was the smell. The smell of that green fluid was gross. Putrid. Revolting to say the least. It smelled like a decaying deer caucus mixed with musty locker room, or something of that smell assaulted my nostrils, nearly making me throw up, but defiantly making me constantly gag. I'm not sure about how much longer I can handle this.

*HHhhhiiisssssssss*

I freeze in my tracks after I hear that very loud hissing noise, that was what I assume to be right above my head. Then, I big drop of that fluorescent green liquid drops down and splatters on to the ground, just missing me in the process. I jump away in the other direction, letting out a small yelp.

*HHhhhiiisssssssss*

I hear that sound again, still loud, and still right above me. I slowly look up, and my heart drops to the bottom of my stomach once I make eye contact with what I see above. All eight eyes to be exact. A massive wolf spider look-alike with a ten foot leg span is suspended right above me, it's fangs long and sharp, oozing out that same green liquid that Gale stepped in and what I've been seeing around in mass quantities lately. It's legs and body are covered with a thick, black, fur that looks as if to be a few inches long. And the eyes. All eight of them possess that same glowing green color that I have seen many times before. I really fucking hate that shade of green. Once again, I freeze. For what seems like a lifetime I stand there, neither one of us moving at all. I then make the hopefully smart decision to book it. And believe me, I do. I feel the ground tremor as the massive arachnid leaps down from its perch, and starts to follow me in hot pursuit. Thankfully, I was able to get a pretty good head start, but when I glanced back to see where this creature is, I notice now that I'm loosing ground. And actually quite fast. I arrive to where Gale, Finnick, and Katniss are busy socializing and yell,

"Fucking run! We're going to make a break for it!"

I didn't have to ask them twice.

We all are running, no, sprinting for our lives, getting closer and closer to that tunnel. The behemoth of a spider in hot pursuit, now only about 15 feet away, and closing in fast. And now, just because the forest probably hates us, a thick fog quickly starts to form, starting to obscure our vision of the tunnel.

"The tunnel is about to disappear!"

20 feet…

Only a little bit further!

15 feet…

We can make it!

10 feet…

Yes! We're almost at the entrance!

I yell,

"Almost the-"

My vision cuts to black.

Until we meet again,

~Elijah
