Chapter 9: Protection ~Golden Darkness~

Yesterday's events left me with so many questions, but eventually, I forgot all about that and went back to focusing on my studies. I would still stare at Momo from time to time, but other than that everything was back to normal.

I thought I had let everything go, but I could still remember the girl with long blonde hair. Who was she? And how does Mea know her?

After class, I asked Mea about the girl.

"You called her Onee-sama. Was she a relative of yours?"

"Oh, you mean Yami Onee-chan? Hmm... I guess you can call her my sister!"

I highly doubted it. There was no resemblance at all. I wanted to know more about this "Yami" girl, so I asked:

"Do you know where I can find her?"

"At the library, maybe..." Mea replied.

"Wait, she goes to this school?!"

"Yep! She's the same year as us!"

"Then how come I haven't seen her?"

Mea answered, "Well, she's from another class 2 rooms from ours. And she usually spends most of her time in the library."

No wonder I haven't seen her before. I never go to the library or visit other classrooms. Libraries are boring and I don't really visit the other classrooms.

Then Mea asked me all of a sudden, "Why the sudden interest to Onee-chan? Have you fallen in love with her too?"

"Why do you always come up with those kind of conclusions?"

She giggled and said, "Because I love seeing your reactions!"

After talking to Mea, I went straight to the library.

"Ugh... of all places, why here?"

I asked the librarian if she knew this "Yami" girl.

"Excuse me, have you seen darkness here?"

"Huh? What are you talking about? Are you from the occult club?"

What was she talking about? Maybe she was in bad terms with the occult club that she suddenly bursted it out. Whatever she was talking about, it wasn't very helpful.

I gave her details on what Yami looked like: "She has long blonde hair, and she wears black clothes."

"Oh, you mean Konjiki no Yami! She's reading a book somewhere in the fiction section."

"Thank you very much!"

I went to the fiction section and saw her. Indeed, she had blonde hair. But instead of wearing black clothing, she was wearing a school uniform.

I approached her and she hair suddenly transformed her hair into a blade, pointing its tip at me..

"What do you want from me?" she asked.

"I just wanna thank you... For yesterday..."

"Is that all?" she asked.

Then I suddenly remembered the fat guy.

"Umm... What happened to the guy whom you fought yesterday?"

"I don't know. Before Mea and I could fight him, he disappeared."

It was very suspicious. No ordinary human would have the ability to disappear just like that. Was he even human?

"Are there any more questions?" she asked.

"N-no... Thank you..."

Then as I was about to leave, I suddenly slipped on a book and fell. The next thing I knew, I was lying on top of her. I couldn't stand up because she wrapped her arms around me.

Her face turned red, then she transformed her hair into a hammer and shouted, "I hate ecchi!". I think you know what happens next...

As I left the library, I saw Mea waiting for me.

"So, how did it go?" she asked.

"How did you think it went?"

She grinned and said, "You fell on top of her, didn't you?"

"S-shut up!"

We went back to the classroom and saw Momo surrounded by VMC members. It was odd because I thought surrounding her like that was against VMC rules.

All of them were saying, "Can I rescue you too Momo-sama?!", "Momo-sama! I wanna be your hero too!", "It's not fair that Yume's the only one who saves you, Momo-sama!".

Momo was feeling uncomfortable with them around. She seemed kinda irritated, but she still wore a smile.

"What are they doing to her?"

"Oh right!" Mea responded, "I told those guys that you saved her yesterday."

"Why would you do that?!"

"I wanted to see their reaction!" she said.

The members got closer to her, they were cramping Momo's space. She could hardly move, and yet she still wore a smile.

"Why is she just sitting there? How come she's not calling them off?"

Mea replied, "She doesn't want to because if she did, their image of her would change."

It was my principle to help someone in need. It couldn't be helped, Momo was in trouble, so I had to rescue her. So I squeezed my hand from the crowd of VMC members and took Momo's hand. Then I pulled her out of the crowd and told them off:

"What's with you guys! Have you forgotten our principle?!"

"What principle?!" they asked.

I pointed my finger to them and said:

"We swore to protect Momo! And if it's for Momo, we would even lay down our lives! That's exactly what I did! Rescuing her was my job as a VMC member! So stop complaining about it and just do your job!"

The members felt guilty for what they did and quickly apologized to Momo.

"We're sorry, Momo-sama! Please punish us!"

"Ehh?!"

After that, they left her alone. Momo thanked me for saving her.

"You saved me again... Thank you..."

"I-It was nothing! Just doing my job, hehehe..."

"I see... I have to repay you somehow. Is there anything you want?" She said.

"Well..."

My face suddenly turned red. Then I began fantasizing...

I imagined myself embracing Momo, and she was embracing gazed upon each other's eyes as I slowly reached for her lips. Then as our lips were about to meet, Momo called for me and I stopped fantasizing.

She asked, "Have you made your decision?".

I wanted that fantasy to happen, but kissing was a shameless act according to Yui-senpai. And since I hated shameless things, it was obvious that kissing her would not be the best move.

"...I think I'll pass on that..."

"Hm? Alright..." she replied, "But if you ever want something, don't be afraid to ask, okay?!"

I blushed, then my heart started beating fast. Looking at her smile somehow made me more attracted to her.

"Also..." she added, "Can you let go of my hand now?"

I didn't even realize that I was still holding her hand. So I immediately let her hand go.

"Thanks again, Yume-san..." she said as she left the classroom.

At that moment, my feelings for her suddenly got bigger. I was beginning to fall for her...

The next day, when I went to the VMC clubroom, the members suddenly bowed at me. Nakajima-kun, the club president, approached me and said, "Because of your dedication to the club, and because of your loyalty to Momo, We have decided to hail you, Yume Mikado, as the new Venus Momo Club Vice President!"

Then everybody began shouting, "All hail, new Vice President!"

Oh, great... more trouble...

"Congratulations, Yume-san! You're now the president of Momo's fan club!"

"Stop reminding me..."

"Why? I thought you wanted to get closer to Momo."

"I don't think hanging out with weirdos would get me any closer to her."

"Next time on To Love Ru Alternate: Touchy ~The Memorzeans~!"

"But since you're now part of the fan club, wouldn't that also make you a weirdo?"

"Well... umm..."
