Payne had caught Roman just before he walked out to the stage.
"Hey, do me a favor tonight." she said.
"What?" he asked curious.
"Just don't provoke Brock into doing anything, okay. Knowing Heyman he'll let him do just enough to hurt you but then he'll pull him back. Just go out there and address him."
"What you think I can't handle myself?" Roman asked.
Payne just looked at him and then walked away. Roman watched as she walked off and thought about her reaction for a second. Did she really believe that he couldn't take on Brock Lesnar? He didn't have time for that though he was being told to go out. The Shield's music began to play with it's usual Sierra, Hotel, India, Echo, Delta... The Shield opening. Roman walked out from the steps and made his way across the barricades and into the ring. Roman stood in the middle of the ring pacing with his normal hard angry face on. His blue-grey eyes almost shinning in the light and his hair wet and curly just the way he liked it hanging down his back. He held the microphone up to his mouth and said,
"Monday night on Raw Brock Lesnar made me a challenge."
The crowd went into an up roar, oh they knew about that challenge and they were super excited about it.
"He said that he was here to stay, that he wanted to prove who was the true beast of the WWE and more importantly he wants to take my title for himself. Now I'm no fool Lesnar, I know your track record: you've slain a giant, you've taken down HHH, you've broken the arm of Shawn Michaels, hell you even beat Cm Punk. But you better understand something Lesnar you may be the beast incarnate but when I'm done with you at hell-in-a-cell Paul Heyman will be picking up the ashes of his former beast and he'll be looking up at the Hell Hound of the WWE Roman Reigns."
The crowd roared as he held his title up in the air. That's what was on the line at the moment. The World heavy weight Championship title and what better way for Brock to prove that he's the strongest by beating this so called Hell hound at Hell-in-a-Cell and holding that title that he had raised above his head at that very moment. Paul Heyman wasn't a man to believe that anyone could beat his beast incarnate but he inwardly admitted that Roman would give him one hell of a fight. Paul walked out and said,
"Ladies and gentlemen my name is Paul Heyman and I am the advocate for the beast incarnate, Brock Lesnar. Now under my advice I've told Brock Lesnar to stay at home this evening because I wanted to prevent a mess from happening so I can assure you Mr. Reigns you have nothing to worry about... at least tonight."
Paul Heyman was standing in the ring now with Roman looking down at him. He looked like an evil little mutated rat that was capable of pretty much anything. Although Roman seemed to be a little pissed that Brock Lesnar didn't show up he said,
"What, was your client too much of a bitch to get his ass out here and face me like a man?"
Again the crowd cheered at the tone of Roman Reigns. Even Rachel, Dean and Seth were proud of him for making such a daring statement. Paul Heyman simply laughed and said,
"Oh that's great, calling names what is that something you're gonna teach your kid when he grows up? How to call his enemies names. You and your fiancé just don't get it do you Roman? This is Brock Lesnar we're talking about he has defeated countless numbers of WWE superstars in his career. You know this so why, I have to ask you why do you constantly try to put up a fight Mr. Reigns it's quite obvious to me what the results at Hell-in-a-cell will be-"
"Yeah the results will be me giving your boy a superman punch then finishing him with a spear and the ref counting to three. Then holding my hand up to continue being the world heavy weight champion." Roman said.
Paul laughed but his smile didn't stay long because he heard the sound of a voice,
"Yo, Roman I don't think that animal in the ring with you quite understands what you're saying to him." Payne said.
"Payne? What is she doing out here?" Michael said confused.
"I don't know Michael but there's gotta be something up her sleeve." John said.
Payne stayed on the stage and she looked irritated in a way. Roman didn't like that she was out there in the first place. He felt like she was going to continue to butt into his matches and he didn't want that. He knew he was perfectly capable of handling himself. Payne could almost feel the annoyance of her fiancé from where she was standing and she still kept her slightly irritated smile on. She held the microphone up to her mouth as she twisted her waist where she stood looking like a cute little child.
"I've been ordered by the Authority to come out here and deliver you and your lackey Brock Lesnar some news Paul. Since it's quite obvious that you didn't or rather that you wouldn't tell him to stay out of the arena tonight and the fact that everybody else wants to move this along, if Brock Lesnar fails to show up when he is expected to from now until Hell- in- a- cell his spot will be replaced with the Authorities choice to go up against Roman Reigns and that is this man."
Payne looked up at the screen above her and it showed a picture of Randy Orton at the top. Randy Orton was still her client and she had no problem with pitting him against her fiancé in fact she found it to be a fun idea. Payne turned around with a playful smile and said,
"So if Brock Lesnar doesn't get his ass out here in ten seconds the World Heavy Weight title match position will be given to Randy Orton. Your ten seconds starts now."
Payne looked down at her watch and tapped her foot as she waited. Roman waited with anticipation he actually didn't care who he fought but if he had a choice he'd choose Lesnar. He was feared by too many people and he wanted to be the one to show no fear and defeat him for good. Paul looked anxious he didn't want Lesnar to come out yet but he also didn't want him to lose him match opportunity. Suddenly his music begin to play, fans of Brock Lesnar went wild and Payne rolled her eyes. Brock walked out and did his little bouncing routine and began to walk but he stopped when he got to Payne. Payne looked him in the eyes and he looked at her straight back. Payne looked pissed off by the presence of him but what pissed Roman off was that he was looking at her in the first place. Brock smiled a cocky like smile and whispered something in her ear. She looked at him with fire in her eyes and Rachel could see from the screen in the back that she had some intention of laying hands on that man. She told Dean to hold Payton as she ran to the entrance of the stage but Payne had calmed herself enough and walked back stage herself. Her fists were balled up and she was ready to punch everything in sight. Rachel walked her into the girls locker room away from the guys leaving them to wonder what was going on in the first place. Brock Lesnar was now in the ring and Roman was staring at him upset, upset that he had the nerve to challenge him, that he had the nerve to look at his fiancé and the nerve to whisper in her ear right in front of him.
"Well folks it looks like Brock Lesnar was actually in the building tonight and he was just waiting back stage for the opportune moment. The tension in the ring is heavy but the crowd is excited tonight." Michael said.
It was true the crowd was going crazy over everything that was happening they couldn't wait to see who would make the first move. Roman and Brock both looked at each other and Roman moved the microphone up to talk but he dropped it quick and speared Brock Lesnar.
"Spear! Spear!" Michael screamed.
"Now that was uncalled for." John said.
"Roman Reigns just speared Brock Lesnar in the middle of the ring ladies and gentlemen. Roman seems to be letting out a lot of anger on Brock Lesnar." Michael began to commentate as Roman punched away at Brock's head.
Paul had taken his chance to get out of the ring but he was in complete shock to see his beast taken down by Roman. Roman bounced off the ropes behind him and headed for Brock but Brock had slid out of the ring before he could lay another move on him. Paul Heyman was pulling him back but Roman let out a roar in the ring. The crowd was cheering loud, screams were heard all over the arena even from Roman who kept screaming,
"Come on!"
He was trying to provoke him back into the ring, Brock at one point headed back to the ring but Paul grabbed him and pulled him back saying ' we don't fight for free'.
"Well ladies and gentlemen that's all for tonight make sure to tune in to Monday night Raw next week and goodnight." Michael said.
The show ended and Brock was as far away from Roman as could be. Roman went to go find Payne though he was curious about what Brock said to her when she was on stage. To his disappointment however Payne had already headed back to the hotel with Payton. It was the first time Rachel was unable to calm her down, she actually yelled at Rachel and told her to stay out of it. Payne knew it wasn't her fault but she felt more and more like a jackass around Roman and Rachel the more she realized just how much she's hidden from him and how much she depends on Rachel to help her solve her problems. Payton had fallen asleep and Payne had made it home and put him to bed. Roman had caught a ride with Dean and Seth back to the hotel so that he could talk to Payne. Payne was in the kitchen with headphones in and a beer in her hand, she looked like she was staring out into space but Roman hadn't noticed it when he was in the middle of his rant until he actually saw that she wasn't paying attention to him. He lightly tugged at the headphones in her ears until they fell out and said,
"What did he say to you?"
She didn't answer, her mind was still some where else even though her brain was still telling her to drink. She was remembering something about Brock, or something about her past or both she didn't exactly know where her mind was. She just saw images in the floor it was like watching quick flash backs of memories from a movie.
"Payne!"
Payne finally looked up, she took another sip of her drink and said calmly,
"Don't yell, Payton's asleep."
"Then at least tell me what the hell is going on with you." Roman said placing a hand on the counter.
She looked at his shoes and her gaze trailed up his body not stopping for a second. She looked at his arms, his chest, his hair laying on his shoulders and his face. She gave a slight smile but covered it up quickly. This secret wasn't so big that he couldn't handle it, right? She turned away and said,
"He didn't say anything he just made it look like he said something to piss you off."
"Or really than why did you leave without me and why did you push Rachel away? She knew you were angry."
"Because it's none of Rachel's damn business," she turned around and crossed her arms and leaned against the counter.
Her stance was familiar to him, when they had first gotten involved and when she would get upset at him for attacking her men at their job. He just wanted to understand why she was so mad.
"Rachel is my best friend and I love her I do but she needs to learn that every time there's something wrong with me she doesn't need to come to my rescue. I don't need her, I don't need anybody to help me."
Her jawline seemed to twitch, he guessed she had clenched her teeth. He looked at her with that angry stare but was completely confused.
"What is wrong with you Payne? Is this cold feet or madness?" He asked.
She smiled at him as if he were making a joke,
"I wouldn't say it's either. It's fear."
"Fear?" he said now even more confused.
"Fear that you'll be the one to walk out on me. In all my life, in all my line of boyfriends I've never truly been in love with anyone. I used to think that I was but when I'm with you- I realized all those other times was me just trying to fill a void. So when I think of telling you that I've been engaged twice before you, once to my UFC trainer Jojo, who I walked out on the day of our wedding and once to your opponent at Hell-in-a-cell I get a little sick." She said.
For some odd reason she wore a smile but it was almost like her eyes were hollow. He wondered if she felt anything at that moment. He knew how he felt though, not only was he shocked that she was engaged two times before, or that she left a man at the alter but he partly furious that she was with Brock Lesnar. He wiped his hand over his face in order to stay calm and for once he was happy that Payne didn't let Rachel get involved.
"I don't understand this, I thought you said he looked like a fake me out Godzilla." Roman said in shock.
Payne's smile grew a little bit,
"Oh he does, he did then and he does now. However Brock was like every other guy I went out with, dangerous, ruthless, bad boy type. Just look at my track record Roman, the only person that was a decent guy was Rhodes and to be honest any time I said I loved him if ever was just as a friend. I did enjoy going out with him though he was a nice change of pace plus I thought he was hot but in the end even that didn't work out."
"But he's so much older than you."
"Yeah well I may have fibbed a little about my age. Age is just a number after all."
"I can't believe you Payne you're sitting here making jokes and smiling away and I'm... well I don't know what I am, probably shocked maybe furious. What the hell is this?" Roman said pissed.
"This is you finding out the truth about your darling fiancé my love. The mother of your child, this... this is you about to walk out on me. I think I've made my peace with it though, at least I gave you a head start to run before it was too late,"
Payne grabbed her keys and walked up to Roman who looked down at her with a little more confusion in his face. She couldn't help but think he was handsome even when he was angry at her. She placed her hand on his cheek and gave him a kiss, it was like any other kiss they had before with the same kind of passion but less fire, it was more sadness. What Roman didn't know was that Payne was starting to feel her heart break right there. She pulled away from him and looked him in the eyes for a second in that second he could see the tears in her eyes starting to come. She looked away before he could see anymore. As she walked away she said,
"He told me if I didn't tell you he would. That's why I was angry, just incase you wanted to know why I told you before your fight."
She reached the door and as she was walking out Roman said,
"Payne, you had a beer."
"I ate before that."
Payne closed the door behind her and Roman just let her leave. He prayed that she wouldn't do anything stupid but he wasn't sure he could go after her just yet. He called Seth and told him if he saw her to keep an eye on her for him. Seth had no problem doing so and he didn't ask why he could hear the tone in his brother's voice and could tell that something had happened between them. Roman didn't want to get the others involved but he also wanted to make sure that Payne was safe. Despite everything he just heard he didn't want any harm coming to Payne.
Payne had found herself at Cody's hotel door she looked distressed when he opened the door.
"What happened?" Cody said.
Payne gave him a smile and said,
"Can you give me a ride?"
Cody nodded and grabbed his coat and they headed to his car. They drove to this plaza looking place where they could walk down the side walk and could see the water stretch out before them. Payne had started throwing rocks into the water but they hadn't said a thing to each other.
"Payne what's going on? Did something happen with you and Roman?" Rhodes asked.
"You could say that. I think he wants nothing to do with me right now."
She could hear Rhodes sigh through the quite night as she stared out at the dark waters in front of her. Water always calmed her, it always made her feel like she was separated from the world she lived in. It was her escape.
"Payne, if you ever tell Roman I said this to you I kill you myself but Roman's a pretty good guy. He'd do anything in the world for and his son, so whatever happened tonight is just a minor problem, okay. He'd never leave your side no matter how angry you get at each other and the reason I know that is because he loves you. More than I think you really understand. I think you love him too more than you really care to admit at some point you're going to have to realize that not everyone is your enemy sometimes people just want to make you feel loved when you need it the most. Maybe that's what he's best at is loving you, after all you did choose him over me." Rhodes said.
He'd already walked up to her and was looking out at the water with her. As he finished talking to her he turned his head to look at her and gave her a smile. She had been crying, he could see the stain of tears on her cheeks. How could she get past something like this, no matter how much they loved each other it was very possible that Roman would never look at her the same way again. As she looked out at the water she finally realized she truly is the Queen of Pain.
So yeah I know there relationship seems like it's coming to an end over something stupid but then again Payne happens to be really dramatic sometimes. Hey what's life without a little bit of Drama. The Next chapter takes place Next week on Raw where tensions run high but with who? Mwahahahahhaha. Thanks for reading lol.
