Chapter 9

(This Ain't a Scene by, Fall Out Boy)

I was lounging on one of the benches of the miniature jets that S.H.I.E.L.D. has, my earphones in my ears with music blasting away while I bobbed my head to the beat. It has been a few hours since we boarded the jet. Coulson was on the strip to greet us, but knowing the agent he was excited that he could fly in the same aircraft with Captain America. Yeah, Agent Phil Coulson is a total Captain America fanboy. He once showed me his vintage Captain America trading cards and I knew that the First Avenger was the one who inspired Coulson to become an agent for the good.

Speaking of Captain America and Coulson, I caught movement out of the corner of my right eye and saw Coulson walking up to my roommate who had just finished going through the file he had to go through. I rolled my eyes and began to calculate on how long until the fan asks his hero to sign his trading cards. I was so distracted with listening to my music and thinking that I didn't see a certain hero coming towards me. Steve placed a hand on my shoulder, but since I didn't know it was him I retaliated. I grabbed his wrist and flipped him over my shoulder onto the floor of the craft.

I noticed who it was and quickly released him, backing away with many apologies. Steve got up and tried to comfort me, but both of us stopped talking when we heard some laughing behind me. We looked to see Coulson and the pilots laughing their butts off.

"I should've warned you, Captain." Coulson chuckled. "Diana is known to set off pretty easily. A couple years ago, an agent made a mistake of trying to scare her and the end result was a full body cast." He laughs for real as I slouched my shoulders and went back to my seat. "I wouldn't get too comfortable, Diana." Coulson informed me and he sobered up right away. "We are about to dock at our destination."

I just nodded and removed my earphones, turn off my iPod, and buckled up for our descend. The miniature jet docked on a huge airstrip that covered the top half of what seems to be a submarine. Steve and I followed Coulson out and looked around. I saw Natasha coming our way and I ran to meet her.

"Nat!" I yelled and gave her a huge bear hug, which almost knocked the both of us over. "So great to see you!" I released her from my grip and backed away. "So what was it like meeting 'The Hulk'?"

She smiled and we began to walk towards the edge where Steve was talking to someone. "You are about to find out yourself." We walked towards where Steve was talking to some guy and I recognized the man as we came closer. The man stopped talking and looked at Black Widow and I as we approached.

Steve turned around and saw us. "Diana, I want you to meet someone." He pulled me to his side and faced the man he was talking to. "Dr. Banner, this is my friend/roommate, Agent Diana Sifsdaughter. Also goes by her code name Artemis. D, this is Dr. David 'Bruce' Banner, but you might know him as-"

I cut him off. "The Hulk. I know, Steve, and just to warn you never try to take him on when he's angry. I don't want to be on either his or the 'other guy' bad side, so piss him off and I will record your beat down to watch later." Steve went pale and Bruce, Natasha, and I started laughing. "Relax, Captain, I know you won't piss off the good doctor, but I wasn't kidding about recording the beat down if it happens."

Steve flushed with embarrassment and awkwardness of the situation he's in. Luckily, Dr. Banner decided to save my friend's hide. "Well, it's nice to meet the famous Artemis. I heard rumors about you from various people. Is it true you are as deadly as you are beautiful?"

I punched the Captain in his arm when he started laughing at the kind doctor's question. I already heard of the rumors, but never thought to be asked about that one. "Well, I would say 'Why don't you come and find out?', but I rather not risk angering you to the point of no control and release the big guy." I informed him and we all laughed as the momentary tension left.

Black Widow decided to come over and speak to us. "I should inform you three that we should head inside. It's about to get harder to breathe."

"What about the jets?" my roommate asked, but Natasha had already walked away.

"Me in a submarine? Not such a smart idea." Bruce announced, but when the engines came out of the water and the craft began to go airborne, he changed his mind. "Oh no…this is much worse!"

I laughed and put an arm around his shoulders. "Relax, Bruce. It's better to Hulk out in the air than in the water. No need to worry about you or the other guy drowning as well as us." I hooked my other arm around Rodgers. "Well, let's check this baby out. I want to see what new toys are available for us." With that said, we went inside with curiosity and excitement on our faces.

We walked onto the bridge and it was amazing. All the latest technology was being used to track the Tessaract, Loki, Barton, and Selvigg. My smile was so huge and felt like a kid whose Christmas came early. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that Steve had an awestruck look on his face while giving Fury, who came to greet us. Guess Fury bet that Steve would be surprised at how advance everything is. Then I noticed how uncomfortable Bruce was after eyeing a pair of armed guards on duty.

I walked over to him and gave him a comforting hug, which surprised him. I pulled away with a warm smile. "You're safe amongst friends, Bruce. Don't let those two scare you," I told him. "they are a bunch of softies when off duty." He smiled and we turned our attention to the center of the room.

It has been almost an hour since Natasha, Steve, our pilot, and I boarded one of the jets and took off to Germany. Nat was helping fly the jet in the cockpit while Steve and I change into our suits. We had a changing curtain up to hide ourselves from each other and the cock pit. It took us thirty minutes and we took the curtain down once we were both decent. I have to say: my roommate when he is Captain America looks sexy, especially with that shield and mask. Yet I couldn't help but blush deep red when he stared at mine: It was split in two colors (black and green); the top was a short sleeved baby tee while my pants were cargo to carry all instruments and supplies I need; the quiver was strapped to my back with an over the shoulder strap and stocked with various arrows with many useful arrow heads; the bow is similar to Hawkeye's, but slimmer and deadlier. Unlike my fellow assassins, but like my roommate, I wear a mask except it's a domino mask (the ones that Robin wears).

Seeing Steve still stuck in his stare state I walked up to him and slapped the back of his head.

"OW!"

"Focus, Captain. Artemis has a reputation to uphold and I don't want Diana to keep scolding her roommate to focus." He nodded and we stood by the bay doors. "Nat, how are we doing?"

She turned to peer in and gave me thumbs up. "We have just arrived and on time by the looks of it. Your boyfriend seems to be holding hostages." There must have been of look of surprise and disbelief on my face because she asked "He never done this before?"

I shook my head. "I know Loki and he isn't the type to actually go to extremes such as this. Something must have happened to him after that incident in New Mexico." The jet landed and the doors opened. "Time to find out what the hell is going on?" Please, Loki! I hope you are still you inside.

A/N: Okay the next chapter is the fight scene between Loki and the Captain, but Artemis gets in on it as well. Also a little moment between Loki and our hero after Tony flies into Thor on that cliff.
