A.N: New chapter for this still ongoing 'Prequel' mini-series. The next update not be a prequel cause recently I've had the itch to write fluff. Who knows.

BTW: If anyone wants to suggest something you want me to write about in the fic feel free to voice them out in the reviews or what not. Thanks for all the support :D

Weiss and I – Prequel - 2 - Close Encounter

"What did I do in a past life to deserve you?"

I grumbled in lethargic misery as I lugged myself behind Weiss after she had dragged me out on my butt to what I could only hope was somewhere quiet where I would be executed and then buried: A fate far better than spending time with Weiss, especially this early in the morning.

"Lady, we've known each other for two days! I don't know which glacier you broke away from but where I come from that isn't a long enough time to warrant you the right to wake me up at six on a weekend!"

I complained, in hopes my constant droning would hit enough of her nerves to make her give up on whatever she wanted me to do. However I only succeeded in accomplishing the former.

"Does that mouth of yours ever close?"

"Maybe it would if you at least tell me where you're hauling me to."

Her pace slowed down just a smidge as she turned her neck such that I could see her smug and disinterested expression as she said.

"If you must know, we are going on a little hunt. There have been reports of a pack of Beowolves around here so we're…..eradicating them."

Having explained that she brought me out to the Emerald Forest for a search and destroy mission I got even more upset that my Saturday morning had been ruined because of a task anyone else could have done.

"Wait. You have a team, why don't you just bring them along for this?"

"Everyone I know can hold their own against at least three Beowolves. You being the only exception of course. No offense but you really need the practice. Don't worry, I'll be sure to let you take the smallest one."

As true and sensible as she was in retrospect, at that point in time it only came across as infuriatingly insulting and nothing more than an act of self-appeasing hubris. Burning up in anger I shouted back.

"Hey listen here Princess I don't-!"

Weiss, with her back turned to me interrupted me when she raised her finger in the air and shook it side to side.

"You said you'd keep quiet if I told you where we're going so shut your trap."

Letting out an annoyed hiss at the heiress I dragged my feet along the ground in silence. I suppose I was to blame for this. I did agree to be trained by her, even shook on it and I guess she was the one running at a loss here so I figured I should at least put up with her for basic courtesy sakes and who knows, I might even be able to learn something from her. Not that the past couple days have shown that.

As I was thoroughly lost in my own mental monologue I had failed to notice the heiress come to a stop and lift her hand up in the air to tell me to do the same. Bumping into her she gave me a furious glare before signalling me to crouch down behind a bush.

"Alright, look."

She instructed as she parted the vegetation to reveal a single Beowolf, barbaric snarls emitting from its lifeless skull-like head, its claws digging into the soil and surrounding trees as it paced around.

"Take it out. You think you can handle that?"

At Weiss's question I snorted before replying with a smirk.

"What? One of those puppies? I could do it with my bare hands."

At my cocky reply she rolls her eyes. Ignoring her obvious underestimation of my abilities I drew my blade and stomped towards the still oblivious Grimm.

"Hey slobber-breath!"

I taunted the beast, my sword at the ready. Getting up onto its hind legs, the Beowolf stared at me with its bright red eyes for several seconds before it lifts its head into the air and lets out a spine-tingling howl.

Almost immediately the shrubbery behind the Beowolf rustled and several more pairs of crimson orbs emerged from the vegetation. A particularly large one suddenly taking the lead of the prowling pack.

"Oh no."

I was outnumbered, horribly. Taking a few steps back I cock my head behind me just enough for me to channel my voice towards the bush I was just behind, one eye still locked on the slowly emerging group of Beowolves.

"Weiss? I….I may need some backup here."

At this point I expected her to leap into action, her fancy rapier twirling about. However all I got was silence.

"Weiss?"

Still no response. I immediately went into full blown panic, Weiss wasn't answering, she could have bolted the moment more showed up or she was already fighting another pack elsewhere. Whatever the reason, she wasn't there to help me.

My feet digging into the ground I brought my blade into a defensive position, bracing myself for the strike.

The largest of the pack lunged forward, its claws and razor sharp teeth locked with the broad side of the weapon, its substantially larger size pushing me across the dirt. No matter how hard I tried to sink my heels into the soft mud I was being helplessly shoved back until I was pinned right up against a tree.

As my strength began to dwindle as the blade, and consequently the Beowolf's jaw inched closer and closer. The smaller members of the murderous pack eagerly waiting to scrape the scraps of flesh off my bones gather behind the leader.

This was it.

However before I could even finish saying my prayers a figure streaked straight through the pack and with a massive gush of blood and a few soft whimpers, the entire pack collapsed in a lifeless heap with a lot of them cleanly split horizontally in half. The largest of the Beowolves that had clashed with me was now on at my feet, its lower torso and legs separated from the still growling upper half.

Without hesitation I brought my sword down right between its menacing red eyes, ending it once and for all.

"Well done."

Weiss's voice suddenly re-emerges as she walked out from the wilderness, her hands clapping in a slow, sarcastic manner.

"Where were you when the whole Beowolf army came out of the woods?!"

I yelled at her in fury. Weiss, with on hand gesturing at the corpses of dispatched Grimm that lay in the dirt and the other on her hip she states.

"Just be glad I didn't let them take a chunk of your arm before stopping them."

"And how exactly is nearly being turned into a chew toy going to help me improve?"

At my infuriated question she pointed at the Wolf with my sword still embedded in its skull.

"You killed one of them didn't you?"

She took a second look at my kill before letting out a brash little giggle.

"Ok, it's more like half…"

"I swear lady, you're going to get me killed by the end of the semester."

I grumbled as I tried to dislodge the sword from the head of the deceased Beowolf.

"It's better than getting yourself cut down by Grimm at the end of next week."

She tells me in a serious tone, her arms crossed as she paced up and down. With a final hard yank I pull my blade loose and gave the Beowolf corpse a few strong kicks for good measure. However the moment my foot impacts the unmoving cadaver I jolt back violently in pain. Falling onto my behind I clutch my right foot, in a rush of adrenaline at what just happened I did not realise I had twisted my ankle in the process of fending off the Beowolf.

"Gosh, what is it? Where does it hurt?"

Weiss sighs as she bends down to look at my foot. In an attempt to retain my image I throw myself back onto my feet, well, one foot actually.

"N-Nothing's wrong! I'm fine."

Admittedly, even I found it very unconvincing. With my foot hovering above the ground it was no wonder why the heiress didn't buy a single cent of my ruse. Pinching the bridge of her nose in irritation she walks right up to me and turns her back towards me.

"Just hold on to my shoulder. I'll take a look at it back in the dorm."

She instructed. My hand rose to her shoulder for a second before quickly retracting back to my side. Picking up on my hesitation she let out a huff and said

"Or you could just stay here and get eaten by the next Grimm that comes by."

With a slight scorn at my damaged pride I gripped onto Weiss's shoulder as she began walking back, me hobbling in tow.

Later…

"You are such an incompetent."

The heiress shakes her head at me, a first aid box in her hand. I puffed up my cheeks in embarrassed annoyance, not only did I prove to her I can't get a single kill without injuring myself now I need to fixed up by her as well.

"Could you just check my leg out?"

I requested while pulling off my shoes and rolling up my jeans above my ankle. My ankle was entire red and swollen, applying slight pressure to it I immediately let out a short grunt in discomfort.

"Don't be such a baby, this is nothing."

At the remark I gave her a crooked frown. As she took a few more seconds to examine the injury before throwing about the objects in the box before finally lifting out a roll of bandages.

"Stand still."

She orders.

"Look, it's obvious you're not a skilled fighter,"

She continued talking, looping the medicine soaked bandage over my foot as she did.

"and not all that intelligent, academically at least and seeing the company you hang out with which is nobody I can safely say that you-."

"Hey wait just a minute here Princess! How do you know how well I do in classes?"

I felt the need to interject given how much of a beating my already bruised self-esteem.

"I looked at your entry test paper. You got an A-."

I let out a smug chuckle.

"You're damn right I did."

"I also happened to look at the paper of the person that sat beside you. Remarkable how identical the both of you think."

My mouth hung open, it wasn't that I intended to cheat but given the circumstances surrounding that day it was difficult not to take a peek.

"I…I…I…Um…"

I mumbled in coherently, my heart sinking to my gut. She knows so much about me, in just two days she had picked up on something the board of staff in the academy didn't. If anything I was surprised she hadn't told on me and got me booted from the school.

"Tell me something."

Weiss suddenly speaks up, looking me dead in the eyes.

"Why'd you join this Academy?"

I was taken aback by her question.

"Um…well…I…just wanted to protect people."

"Are you serious about that?"

I blinked in confusion.

"Well…yeah."

Finishing up the wrap around my foot she stands up and turned towards the door.

"Then I suggest you start behaving like you do. I'll let that heal for two more days before we resume."

Just like that she exited my room. I was stunned speechless. She or for that matter anyone had ever told me that before, and she was right.

Very right. Too right.

Wrestling my leg onto the bed I took a lie down, my eyes aimlessly gazing at the white ceiling.

A.N: Thanks for reading. Unfortunately I can't say for sure when next update will be (I may be able to get one out at the end of the month, fingers crossed) but until then hope you liked this chapter.

A.N: Random thoughts by me below (Not really related to fic so feel free to ignore.)

So recently I watched Sword Art Online (I know its been out a really long time already) and I found myself liking it a lot and I think Asuna is an awesome character that I'd probably put somewhere in my Top 5 animated characters

It is literally right now as I am going through this fic one more time did I suddenly realized the similarities between Asuna and Weiss.

Weiss Schnee:

-Skilled fighter

-Fights with a rapier

-Has that 'Tsundere' vibe to her

-Family part of large and wealthy corporation

Asuna Yuuki:

-Skilled fighter

-Fights with a rapier

-Has that 'Tsundere' vibe to her (although more on the down-low cause Kirito does that to women)

-Family part of large and wealthy corporation

The resemblance is uncanny. I think they would make great friends...

Oh and both are absolutely beautiful 3

Anyway if you've read this far down I apologize for making you watch me pour out my random thoughts.
