"Spike, I think this could be good for us though." Even as Buffy finished the sentence, Spike was shaking his head. He didn't want to work for Giles, much less work alongside Robin Wood. She knew that, but she also knew it would be beneficial to have the son of a Slayer among the newer trainees. "I know you don't exactly like the idea and honestly, I don't entirely blame you." She touched his cheek. "But this could work out well."
"Robin Wood tried to kill me. He went out on a date with you, love. Clearly he had a thing for you, no matter what happened between him and Faith. And besides, now that Faith and Xander are together..." Dawn choked on her food.
"They're what?" She looked between Spike and Buffy. "I knew they were coming here together but...WHAT?" Buffy grinned at her sister.
"So I see that childhood crush never quite went away, huh Dawny?"
"What? Who? Me? No. That's not what I meant at all. It's just..." Buffy shakes her head, still grinning.
"Anyway, love. Back to our argument." Spike rolled his eyes at the two of them. "I don't like the idea of him being in charge of any of the girls, you know." Buffy sighed and nodded.
"But Spike, look at it this way. It's more help training the girls. And that gives us more time to ourselves." He rolled his eyes at her, but as Buffy leaned in to kiss his jaw line, he couldn't help but grin.
"Love, you know that is not fair. Not at all, Buffy." She giggled, and the lightness of the sound made his smile widen.
"Oh, will you two just get a room?" Dawn said, but she grinned as she said it. Buffy smiled back.
"Don't you have school?" Dawn shrugged.
"We're on break. Though, I suppose I could go find someone to spar with." Dawn smiled and stood up to leave. Spike wrapped arm around Buffy and pulled her to him. Buffy grinned up at him.
"I promise, the Robin thing won't be as bad as it seems." She smiled up at him.
"I hope not, love. I still don't trust him at all though." Buffy nodded.
"I know, Spike. But hopefully, you won't have to be around him too often." He kissed her forehead.
"So what information has Giles turned up about the crazy Slayer?" Buffy sat up and shrugged.
"Not much, really.. It sounds like she was pretty sane before..." She broke off, shaking her head. "Before we did this to her."
"Love, you did what was best for the world at the time. If you hadn't we wouldn't be here now. None of us. The First would have killed us all and destroyed everything." Buffy looked up at him and nodded.
"I know you're right, but there are times, like when Giles told me about this new girl...that I just can't help but wonder if we were a bit too hasty. The Potentials that were there got a say in the matter, but what about all the other girls out there who didn't even know they were potential Slayers?" She shook her head wearily.
"I know you feel like the whole world is on your shoulders, Buffy. But that isn't true. Especially now." He kissed her, and for a few moments, she lost track of time. A voice behind them cleared his throat.
