11. November: Love's Realisation

"Its fucking freezing." Kelly says for what has to be the millionth time that night. She's standing in a park with people she doesn't know and some people she does know - and all because it's 'Guy Fawkes' day.

"Your nose has gone red. I didn't know Rudolph was going to join us tonight." Nathan jokes, grinning at her. He's not surprised by the slap she gives him and to his luck it doesn't hurt as much as it usually does because she's wearing gloves.

"Can these bloody fireworks just start already. We've been standing here for like half and hour!" The cold brings the impatience out of her, but it's not like she's the only one complaining.

"WHEN IS THIS GOING TO START THEN?"

"HURRY THE FUCK UP!"

"ARE WE GOING TO BE HERE ALL NIGHT OR WHAT?" Are only some of the obscenities that can be heard being shouted around.

"I'm sure if everyone just calm's down, they'll start soon enough." Simon says leisurely from beside them. He's holding Alisha's waist from behind and doesn't see when she and Curtis both roll their eyes.

The five friends talk amongst themselves for a while - or it's more like, Nathan insults Simon and Kelly has to alternate from trying not laugh and scolding him once he's gone too far.

Then finally...

"IS EVERYBODY READY?" Yells a voice over a loud speaker. The whole park erupts with cheers and Kelly cups her gloved hands over her lips to shout "ABOUT FUCKING TIME."

The whole park counts down from five, and then finally the sky is alight with professional fireworks. For a park from around where they live, it's actually a decent job. Nathan turns to tell Kelly this, sure that she'll agree with his quip.

But he stops when he looks at her face. It's weird because for some reason, it feels like he's seeing her for the first time all over again...only this time around, she's not just someone he's considering to shag. This time she's the most stunning person he's ever seen in his life.

Her face lit up in awe as she watches the fireworks makes he's insides turn over. Her lips slowly curving upwards into a impressed smile makes him feel like his heart is going to explode. He doesn't understand why he's suddenly feeling this way, but he doesn't mind it at all.

An then the fact that he doesn't mind is what gets him to figure it out.

He's standing there in the bitter cold, and he's watching the adoring look on Kelly's face instead of the fireworks in the sky that he's been waiting nearly one hour for...feeling no regret what so ever.

And it's because he's in love with her.

"That one was probably the best so far?" Kelly says, not even noticing the fact Nathan's already looking at her until her eyes meet his. His green irises are holding such an intense while she shivers - and it's not the cold's doing this time.

"...Nathan?" Her voice is soft, questioning, and all he does in return is lift is arms up to hold her face in his gloved hands. Then he leans down to press his lips to hers in a slow, passionate kiss.

She's startled to say the least.

But she does kiss him back, putting her hands on his arms. The kiss is knocking the wind out of her, and she can barely hear the loud noises of the fireworks over the blood pounding in her ears. After they finally break apart, all they can do is stare at each other as they try to get their breath back. Amidst this, Nathan leans down and whispers something into her ear that practically makes her heart stop beating.

"I love you."

His voice although breathless, holds so much emotion behind it. He pulls his lips away from her ear to see her eyes battling emotions of their own. Then suddenly she's grinning at him, wider than he's ever seen on her pretty face before. He doesn't even get the chance to blink before she's grabbing his face and kissing him twice as hard as he had just moments ago. After she pulls away from the second time, his mind is barely functioning...but it definitely perks up again when he hears her say with utmost happiness.

"I love you too, you dickhead."
