Sorry for the wait! Life's been a bitch again :)
Much fluff in this chapter! Yaay :3 Enjoy!
If there was one thing Alec knew, it was that Max Guevara never cried. Not ever. But how could he doubt, now that she was standing in front of him, her eyes as wet as her hair.
Yes, she was crying, but she also looked… gorgeous!
Still worried, he touched her cheek, looking into her eyes. "What is it? Why are you crying?"
She shoved his arms away, so they hang limb on his sides. "I'm crying, because of you, McDowell!" She threw his last name at him like an insult – and it really did feel like one at the moment.
"Me?" He asked, trying to touch her again, but she refused, so he dropped his arms once again. "What have I done?"
Max glared at him through her tears and the rain that fell on her face. "Where should I start?" She asked, sarcastically rolling her eyes. "Whenever you're being nice or romantic or charming or whatever the hell you want to call it, you just drop it. You drop it and turn it into an insult! Like, no, I'm not jealous, I was just saying this to be an asshole!"
Alec stared at her and then his eyes found the ground. It was true, he was an asshole, he did lie – he didn't want her to know his true intentions… "I'm –", he started, but the woman in front of him raised her arms to silence him. It worked.
"No, you're not getting off the hook just now! You know, the day we've met I thought about Alec McDowell, the idiot, the asshole, the flirt. And guess what, I was right. We were 14 and I knew already that this," she looked him up and down before pointing at his chest. "this man in front of me would be the most annoying and disgusting man that I ever had the misfortune to meet! But then I saw behind the façade. I saw the boy he could be – Alec. The sometimes kind guy, who would pick up my books when I'd let them fall. The guy who would smile at me in the hallways when no one was looking. The guy who would say something funny whenever I was feeling down. The guy who would always encourage me when I was scared to jump into the pool. The guy who would laugh at my jokes, no matter how bad they were…" She smiled sadly and looked up at him. "The guy who would run after me, into the rain, who would look at me with those sincere, green eyes and say that he was sorry."
The male looked at the woman in front of her. "I'm sorry," he answered, dropping his gaze. "I am so terribly sorry." Now Max was smiling. A real smile – and Alec couldn't stop himself from opening up to her. "The first time we've met… Hell, I was an asshole. But there was something about you, something great, something good, something I've never seen before. You know about Rachel – you don't know everything, but one day, I will tell you. I will tell you everything. Who she was and why she was so important to me – still is." She looked at him in a kind of shocked way, but Alec didn't want to ask about it, he wanted to talk – to tell her everything. "And you – Max Guevara… You are the most beautiful woman in existence and I look at you and see… so much darkness. Like the night sky. And sometimes – sometimes when it's the right time, the right place, there are so many stars, shining, lighting up the whole sky… And you can see how truthfully beautiful it all is… You are beautiful, inside and outside."
Max smiled and suddenly grabbed his collar, pulling him down to her and their lips met – rough, but still, it was a beautiful feeling. He wrapped his arms around her waist and her arms found their way around Alec's neck. They separated when they needed air and just looked at each other for a few seconds. Suddenly they began laughing and Alec held out his hand for Max to take. She grabbed it and together they ran inside the building again, still giggling, hands held tight.
"What happened to you?" OC's voice was heard and the two turned around. They smiled at her and shrugged, making Original Cindy raise an eyebrow. "You've been outside?"
Max squeezed Alec's hand while answering: "Yeah, for a bit."
OC seemed to understand, because she began to grin happily. "I see… Have a nice evening, you two."
With that she took off and Alec and Max made their way to the drinks. "Hey, will they be choosing king and queen of the ball?" the blonde asked, looking at his – girlfriend?
Shrugging, she answered: "I guess so. What, you think you'll be king?"
"I surely will be. And you'll be queen. And then we'll kiss."
"Oh, will we? What, you want to shout out to the world that we're da–" she stopped herself.
"Are we dating?" he asked.
"I don't know, are we?"
"I think we are."
"Then we're dating."
"Good," with that he bent down to kiss her again and she accepted it, kissing him back.
"Ugh," said Biggs who appeared next to them. "No kissing, that's disgusting."
Alec looked at his best friend, before kicking him. "I thought that you might feel so."
Biggs raised an eyebrow, as he leaned at the table. "What? Why? What's that supposed to mean?"
Alec chuckled softly and ruffled through Max's hair. "Where's your date, Biggsy?"
"Oh, shut up," he mumbled, glancing at Asha before rolling his eyes. "I should've asked Max before you did. Then I'd be kissing her right now."
Max smirked. "Oh, you think?"
All three started laughing. That was when Cece came over, smiling at them. "What's so funny?"
"Cece!" Biggs said, stumbling over nothing, trying to keep himself from falling to the ground. Alec has to grab his shoulder and he looked at his best friend in confusion… Biggs acted really weird…
The blonde girl smiled at Biggs before looking at Max. She shrugged and said: "Not important. Where is Sketch?"
Cece bit her lip and shrugged. "I… I don't know… We fought and… I think he drove home…" She sighed, crossing her arms. "And now I don't know how to get home…"
"I can drive you home!" Biggs pretty much shouted, blushing immediately. "I mean… If that's okay for you."
"Oh, Biggsy," Alec mumbled, closing his eyes.
Max glanced at her boyfriend, but wouldn't say anything.
"Oh, uhh… sure… But what's with Asha?"
The black haired guy shrugged. "I don't think she needs me anymore. C'mon, let's get you home."
Cece smiled at him and together they left.
Alec looked after them and growled once they were gone.
"What's wrong?" Max asked, looking at him a little confused.
"It's Biggs," Alec answered, glancing down at her. "I think he's interested in Cece. I mean, like, really. I know this look…"
Max shrugged. "Is this so bad?"
He sighed and bent down to kiss her again. "I don't know yet – we'll see…" He looked at the dance floor. "Wanna dance?"
They danced the whole time, sharing some kisses. After that Alec brought her home, bringing her to the doorsteps. They stopped in front of the door and just looked at each other for a long time.
"Thanks," Max said eventually. "For asking me out and… for this amazing night…"
Alec smiled at her. "It was my pleasure. Thanks for… I don't know – dating me, I guess."
They kissed each other one last time, slowly, romantically.
Suddenly the door opened and Zack shouted: "BOO!"
The two teenagers jumped, wrapping their arms around each other, Alec trying to ward her from the danger.
"No kissing!" Zack said, pointing at them both. "Either get in or go away, McDowell."
Alec chuckled slightly while releasing Max. "Sorry, Zack."
The older smiled a little before saying: "Good night, Alec."
"Good night," he answered, squeezing Max's hand one last time before turning his back and leaving. He got into his car and looked one last time to Max. She watched him and their eyes met. Another smile – then she went into the house.
Alec started the car and drove home – the smile never leaving his face.
